:01:11. > :01:14.this. We had crowds gathering and The Christmas shoppers are out in

:01:14. > :01:18.force here in Liverpool. If you are preparing for the festive period,

:01:18. > :01:22.spare a thought for those who Christmas will be different. For

:01:22. > :01:27.some, in Shaw, in Oldham, their lives were torn apart by a gas

:01:27. > :01:30.blast which destroyed some of their street and killed a young child.

:01:31. > :01:40.Jacey Normand has spent the last six months following those who were

:01:41. > :01:45.

:01:45. > :01:51.26th June 2012, a day the people of Shaw will never forget. I thought

:01:51. > :01:59.the plane had come down. The only way I could describe it was, 9/11.

:01:59. > :02:05.At 1115, a huge blast killed two- year-old Jamie Heaton on Buckley

:02:05. > :02:09.Street. I rang for emergency services, and I said there had been

:02:09. > :02:18.a gas explosion, with three houses down. Dozens of homes were also

:02:18. > :02:28.heavily damaged, as well as those. This mobile phone footage shows the

:02:28. > :02:32.immediate impact of the blast. Its effects are still being felt. This

:02:32. > :02:36.almost looks like this it of a movie. Yes, this is the devastation

:02:36. > :02:45.caused by the gas explosion. A lot of the house has gone. Nine houses

:02:45. > :02:49.have been demolished. Back in July, I was shown the full extent of the

:02:49. > :02:53.damage by Jackie Hunter, who had just spent her retirement money

:02:53. > :02:56.renovating the house. You cannot call it home any more, because I am

:02:56. > :03:02.not living here, because of the devastation. It is such a mess,

:03:02. > :03:07.with all of the damp and everything. Of the floor does not feel safe.

:03:07. > :03:11.that lifted up like that on the day. I was sat there and it just lifted

:03:11. > :03:17.like that and then went back down again. Because it came through,

:03:17. > :03:23.like that, and then rushed the other way. It pushed the window out

:03:23. > :03:28.there, and broke the dog flap. had to leave everything. I walked

:03:28. > :03:34.out on the day, in the clothes I had on, no code, nothing. And your

:03:35. > :03:39.kitchen, everything is as it was on the day. Exactly as it was. I have

:03:39. > :03:45.still got washing in the washer. I have still got things on here ready

:03:45. > :03:50.to wash. And the smell, because you have not been able to clean it up.

:03:50. > :04:00.No water, so I cannot clean. are you feeling at the moment,

:04:04. > :04:11.aside from not being in your own home? Frightened. Devastated.

:04:11. > :04:18.just want to come home. I dream it. Every night I dream it. You had

:04:18. > :04:24.just done it up as well. Oh, yes, I spent all of the money you had from

:04:24. > :04:29.my retirement. Have you got any idea when you might be able to come

:04:29. > :04:33.back? They said Monks, rather than weeks. I am the optimist, I hope it

:04:37. > :04:42.situation, where you cannot be at home, and the ones who are, their

:04:48. > :04:53.split all over the place, some people are still living in a hotel.

:04:53. > :04:57.Among those put in a hotel were Janet Ferreira and her disabled

:04:57. > :05:03.mother, Norah. They arrived with just the clothes they were wearing

:05:03. > :05:07.when they were forced to evacuate. The first night in the hotel, I was

:05:07. > :05:10.full of dust and glass from the accident. I jumped in the shower

:05:10. > :05:15.and realised I did not have anything to get changed into. I did

:05:15. > :05:21.not have a brush, hair dryer, anything. Just things that make you

:05:21. > :05:25.feel normal. We had no handbags, shoes, clothes, underwear, nothing.

:05:25. > :05:30.Everything that we own is in the houses. It is difficult. You know

:05:30. > :05:39.it is there that you cannot get it.. How has it been for your living in

:05:39. > :05:43.the hotel, Norah? I hate not going out on my scooter, up to Shaw, and

:05:43. > :05:48.seeing all of my friends. It has been very hard for her. It makes me

:05:48. > :05:55.angry, and I cannot do anything. She is the only one that can do it.

:05:55. > :06:00.When I hear her crying at night, it breaks my heart. It is unbelievable.

:06:00. > :06:04.And the dog is in Bury, with the RSPCA, we have not seen him since

:06:04. > :06:08.it happened. Everything seems to be going wrong. We do not seem to be

:06:08. > :06:15.getting anywhere with anything. the hotel, I can see that you have

:06:15. > :06:18.tried to make it as homely as you can. When I got the keys back, and

:06:18. > :06:22.went to get my dad's picture for my mother, because she always has that

:06:22. > :06:30.on the side. They were never separated all of their married life.

:06:30. > :06:36.I got that for my mum, to make her feel more at home. Four months on,

:06:36. > :06:46.and they have taken down some of the boarding, but as you can see,

:06:46. > :06:47.

:06:47. > :06:50.the devastation remains. In October, I go and see Jackie Hunter in her

:06:50. > :06:59.rented house, and it is evident that she is still really struggling

:06:59. > :07:03.to come to terms with what has happened. This is where I am

:07:03. > :07:07.sleeping. How come you're sleeping downstairs? I am too frightened to

:07:07. > :07:12.go upstairs on my own at the moment. Perhaps when I get back to my own

:07:12. > :07:19.house, I will feel better. But here, I feel as though I need the escape

:07:19. > :07:25.of the front door, and a patio door, so I can get out quick.. Howl on

:07:25. > :07:30.your nerves? Just about, at the moment. IMC in somebody from victim

:07:30. > :07:35.support, who has been helping us. - - I am seeing somebody. He did a

:07:35. > :07:41.test, and he feels that I am suffering from post-traumatic

:09:00. > :09:05.Hunter back to the site of the explosion in it you can see the

:09:05. > :09:15.devastation. I had lived here since 1989. It is just like a bomb site.

:09:18. > :09:21.It is awful. You had hoped to be back by Christmas. Yes, but it is

:09:21. > :09:26.going to be January. But that is what I am going to be leaving

:09:26. > :09:35.behind. So even when you are back, you will be behind those fences,

:11:55. > :12:03.Societies, fresh from checking out Stephen's performance, are not

:12:03. > :12:10.impressed. He is about as clairvoyant as a teapot. He is not

:12:10. > :12:14.psychic. So, who is right? Stephen Holbrook says he can genuinely hear

:12:14. > :12:20.the spirits, and he claims that his powers prove there is life after

:12:20. > :12:25.death. Or the sceptics, who say he is an entertainment performer,

:12:25. > :12:29.using magician's tricks? It is important, because if Stephen's

:12:29. > :12:33.telephone carries nuisance calls, and Archie and the spirits are not

:12:34. > :12:36.real, there is a problem with the law. If it is misleading

:12:36. > :12:39.information to consumers, causing people to do something that would

:12:39. > :12:45.not otherwise have done, such as buying a ticket or travelling to an

:12:45. > :12:48.event, then there could potentially be a criminal offence. Some mediums

:12:48. > :12:52.say the performance is for entertainment purposes only. Is

:12:53. > :12:57.that sufficient? If he is actually saying, I am an entertainer, a

:12:57. > :13:03.magician, using cold reading techniques, and I cannot actually

:13:03. > :13:07.communicate with the spirit world, and that is what he needs to say.

:13:07. > :13:17.But Stephen never says it is just for entertainment. He repeated the

:16:54. > :17:00.their expressions. You think what is statistically likely to happen

:19:12. > :19:17.real and meant for another person. Ellis had stolen it. He would not

:22:30. > :22:34.about the moves. So that put the nerves on a bit. Today, we have a

:22:35. > :22:39.slightly more relaxed atmosphere here on the bridge. You get stopped

:22:39. > :22:43.while you are walking and try to do a dance scene. Lots of people are

:22:43. > :22:48.curious. There are lots of Asians on holiday and also living here who

:22:48. > :22:56.have seen a couple of my movies. I was shocked because I didn't

:22:56. > :23:02.realise how big it was back in the UK and worldwide.

:23:02. > :23:08.It's been a massive rise to fame. She was spotted by an Indian film

:23:08. > :23:16.director on the internet after winning the Miss Teen World

:23:16. > :23:21.competition. The director saw me on the Miss Teen World website. That

:23:21. > :23:28.was it. He flew to England. He said I had the ideal look for his movie.

:23:28. > :23:33.A week later I was shooting for my first South Indian movie.

:23:33. > :23:43.Behind me, Amy is getting ready for her next scene on this city's

:23:49. > :23:56.biggest landmark - the London Eye. The film is a thriller about a

:23:56. > :24:02.British-born Indian girl, who wins Miss London and gets drawn into a

:24:02. > :24:09.spying conspiracy. It is made for the Tamil equivalent of Bollywood.

:24:09. > :24:17.She has had to learn to speak Hindu and India. It is a Tamil movie. It

:24:17. > :24:22.is difficult. It is a bit like abrupt. It is taking time for me to

:24:22. > :24:26.get used to it. How long do you have to learn those

:24:26. > :24:31.all-important lines then? Tamil? How long do I get? They usually

:24:31. > :24:35.give them to me on the spot. If I am lucky I'll get a couple of hours

:24:35. > :24:40.beforehand. It is a big challenge for a white English actress to play

:24:41. > :24:46.a lead role in an Indian film. Not everyone approves. She's entering a

:24:46. > :24:50.global film market. It is a global film market, just like Bollywood.

:24:50. > :24:57.It shouldn't matter what background the actor or actress is, so long as

:24:57. > :25:02.he or she looks the part. These cinema-goers at the Trafford Centre

:25:02. > :25:06.know who Amy Jackson is. How do they feel about a western actress

:25:06. > :25:13.staring in the Indian films? It is a mixed society now. It is great to

:25:13. > :25:19.see it in Bollywood films. It is not just about Indian people.

:26:02. > :26:05.living in Mumbai, but filming in the UK has meant she's been able to

:26:05. > :26:11.spend time seeing family and friends back home in Liverpool.

:26:11. > :26:17.Every time I come back and I feel very nostalgic I think of home,

:26:17. > :26:20.it's always on my mind. It's great to be back seeing family and

:26:20. > :26:24.friends. She especially missed her parents

:26:24. > :26:28.and sister while living in India. have a great mum. She came over and

:26:29. > :26:34.she spent the first three months with me in Mumbai.

:26:34. > :26:39.Amy's mum has been by her side during long filming days in the UK.

:26:39. > :26:45.I'm there for her when ever she needs me. It's OK. It works out OK,

:26:46. > :26:52.doesn't it? She puts up with my mood swings and things. She takes

:26:52. > :26:57.it. If she gets bad tempered she takes it out on me. But I don't

:26:57. > :27:02.mean it! Is it is like for you being on a film set of a Kollywood

:27:02. > :27:05.movie? Is it a bit surreal? To be honest, I never thought in my

:27:05. > :27:10.wildest dreams I would be here today and I never thought I would

:27:10. > :27:13.have a famous daughter, but I have. Being her mum, I think she's really

:27:13. > :27:20.beautiful. I really do. You're going to be on camera now.

:27:20. > :27:24.Nice to meet you. So nice to meet you. In Liverpool Amy can walk

:27:24. > :27:29.around virtually unnoticed apart from Indian tourists who are

:27:29. > :27:36.surprised to come across a star on the dock. This would be impossible

:27:36. > :27:41.for Amy to do in Mumbai. I can go out with my hair in a bun and sweat

:27:41. > :27:44.pants, but in India I would be traumatised if I got caught looking

:27:44. > :27:54.like that. It is nice to actually be able to come home and relax and

:28:03. > :28:13.she can conquer this, the sky's the limit. It is something I could not
