:00:00. > :00:00.the series. It's Inside Out with Mary Rhodes and tonight, shd's in

:00:00. > :00:00.Leamington Spa with more surprising stories.

:00:00. > :00:07.How did you earn money when you were a student? Tonight, we investigate

:00:08. > :00:12.the growing trend of students turning to sugar daddies to pay

:00:13. > :00:17.their way through uni. I get paid ?250 per meet with one of them, and

:00:18. > :00:21.that's just for lunch. And then I get paid ?150 for the other one

:00:22. > :00:28.also for meeting up for dinner or something like that. Also on the

:00:29. > :00:34.show, we meet the Gloucester man who ran across Canada. Yes, you heard

:00:35. > :00:44.that right, Canada. 5000 mile run... Across Canada!

:00:45. > :00:49.But first tonight, online d`ting is almost the norm now, with nhne

:00:50. > :00:55.million Brits logging on to find love. What about logging on to make

:00:56. > :00:56.cash? Antony meets a student who has found a controversial way of making

:00:57. > :01:08.online dating pay. You'll find cash`strapped students

:01:09. > :01:13.doing all manner of things to see themselves through college. I'm

:01:14. > :01:17.working at a cafe. I work in a store. I serve champagne. As a

:01:18. > :01:21.part`time job, I work as a waiter in a restaurant. I'm a lifeguard at a

:01:22. > :01:25.swimming pool. For a part`thme job, I work in retail. Debt levels are

:01:26. > :01:30.rising around campus and sole are finding other ways to make loney. To

:01:31. > :01:33.be honest, I don't like discussing money with them. Maybe that sounds

:01:34. > :01:39.stupid because of the naturd of the site. I get paid ?250 per mdet with

:01:40. > :01:43.one of them. And that's just for lunch. And then I get paid ?150 from

:01:44. > :01:48.the other one, also for meeting for dinner or something like th`t. And

:01:49. > :01:54.then also occasionally I'll get paid ?40 on Skype, just for talkhng and

:01:55. > :02:01.catching up. So that's ?150`?25 for a dinner date. Rachel's a stgar

:02:02. > :02:05.baby. We changed her name and voice to protect her identity. Shd's 0,

:02:06. > :02:10.in her first year at uni and goes on dates with sugar daddies for cash.

:02:11. > :02:14.Yeah, at the moment I have two that I still talk to. I have one that

:02:15. > :02:19.I've had for about... Since the beginning, so two or three xears.

:02:20. > :02:23.And then one more recent ond, in the past year or so, on and off. Hang on

:02:24. > :02:27.a minute, that means this stgar baby started hooking up with richer,

:02:28. > :02:32.older men when she was 17, still in the sixth form. I was in thd last

:02:33. > :02:35.year of sixth form in school. Cos my mum was kind of struggling with

:02:36. > :02:39.money and things so I thought I d help out by not having to ask her

:02:40. > :02:45.all the time for money. It seemed like quite an easy way to m`ke cash.

:02:46. > :02:50.She meets them through an online dating agency which says it signed

:02:51. > :02:56.up over 2000 new students in the UK last year. The financial arrangement

:02:57. > :02:59.is called a sugar baby scholarship. Well, they're pretty bold on these

:03:00. > :03:03.websites. This one is talking about a sugar baby scholarship next to a

:03:04. > :03:07.picture of a young woman in her underwear covered in money. And they

:03:08. > :03:11.also suggest ways in which xou can say goodbye to college debt. I just

:03:12. > :03:15.wonder what the sugar babies are expected to do for that mondy.

:03:16. > :03:20.I went into it quite naivelx, thinking that it was just company

:03:21. > :03:24.that most of the men wanted from the site. And he hadn't said anxthing

:03:25. > :03:30.otherwise so I thought I'd leet him in a public place. And then he kind

:03:31. > :03:34.of wanted me to get in his car and I was very stupid and got in the car,

:03:35. > :03:38.I think because of nerves and it being the first time I'd evdr done

:03:39. > :03:42.it. And then as soon as I got in the car, I knew it was a mistakd. And I

:03:43. > :03:45.was kind of panicking because he kept driving. And he eventu`lly

:03:46. > :03:50.stopped at an apartment complex and I just looked at him and sahd, I

:03:51. > :03:53.think you have the wrong idda about this." And I was very lucky because

:03:54. > :03:56.he was really quite embarrassed by it and kept apologising and

:03:57. > :04:00.everything. So I got away whth that but it could have gone a lot worse.

:04:01. > :04:03.The website explicitly says prostitution is not allowed and

:04:04. > :04:10.warns that members involved in sex for cash will be booted off. But

:04:11. > :04:15.Rachel's first date was with a man who expected a lot more than dinner.

:04:16. > :04:19.I think it is kind of luck of the draw who you talk to. But I've got a

:04:20. > :04:25.lot of messages from people who clearly just want, I mean, ` girl

:04:26. > :04:28.for the night that kind of thing. You just have to learn to ignore

:04:29. > :04:33.those and just keep going and finding ones who just genuinely want

:04:34. > :04:37.company. Her profile makes ht clear that a dinner date is all she is

:04:38. > :04:41.offering. But she still gets requests from men who aren't getting

:04:42. > :04:45.the message. So who checks these sites to make sure everyone's

:04:46. > :04:48.playing by the rules? As far as I know, there is no specific

:04:49. > :04:51.definition of what makes an escort agency. So it's a matter of

:04:52. > :04:56.consumers being very careful when they sign up to a site like this

:04:57. > :05:00.that they know what they ard signing up to. Anyone who wants to sign up

:05:01. > :05:03.to any form of dating agencx or introduction agency needs to be

:05:04. > :05:06.very, very careful they know what they are signing up for, thdy know

:05:07. > :05:09.who they're meeting but thex keep all their data as private as

:05:10. > :05:13.possible and they don't do `nything without checking out the colpany

:05:14. > :05:18.first. So there's nothing illegal about it. The sites aren't dven

:05:19. > :05:25.regulated. What's the worry? Well, we've come to Wales to find out

:05:26. > :05:29.Research from Kingston Univdrsity suggests that the number of students

:05:30. > :05:33.turning to the sex industry has doubled in recent years. So the

:05:34. > :05:38.National Union of Students hn Cardiff is on the case. What do you

:05:39. > :05:41.make of websites that seem to be offering, well, in one case a sugar

:05:42. > :05:48.daddy scholarship, or sugar baby scholarships? I mean, it sotnds as

:05:49. > :05:53.if it's an easy fix to their financial problems. It does. And

:05:54. > :05:57.it's certainly being adverthsed as such. Those websites are definitely

:05:58. > :06:00.growing and technology is ddfinitely broadening the sex industry and

:06:01. > :06:07.the, kind of, options that people are taking. Prior to the sttdent sex

:06:08. > :06:10.work project that we are dohng here in Wales, there hasn't been any

:06:11. > :06:13.research at all in the UK on students entering the sex industry.

:06:14. > :06:16.Just absolutely nothing concrete so everything was done on anecdotal

:06:17. > :06:19.evidence. Everything we, kind of, said or any statement that we made

:06:20. > :06:22.wasn't really based on anything solid. So it's really important to

:06:23. > :06:26.get this research done. So the fact that you don't actually know how

:06:27. > :06:28.many students out there are involved in the sex industry suggests that

:06:29. > :06:35.yourself, universities, are somewhat behind the times on this. I think we

:06:36. > :06:40.dropped the ball for a numbdr of years. And now we've picked it up

:06:41. > :06:44.again. Certainly with the Sdx Work Project. But you're still playing

:06:45. > :06:47.catch up now? I think so, ydah. In anything, in terms of public policy

:06:48. > :06:50.and lawmaking, those things are generally slow to catch up with new

:06:51. > :06:55.technology. So there's definitely, in terms of legislation, a very slow

:06:56. > :06:56.catch up being done in terms of the new technology and the new forms of

:06:57. > :07:05.sex work that that's brought. The academic research is called the

:07:06. > :07:09.Student Sex Work Project. It will be published this spring. Still in her

:07:10. > :07:13.first year, our student's m`naging to keep her head above water and on

:07:14. > :07:20.the right side of her own rtles just about. I don't have a sexual

:07:21. > :07:24.relationship with them but H have... I have... I don't know how

:07:25. > :07:30.to describe it... Got with one of them. But that was purely bdcause I

:07:31. > :07:34.started to like him as a person I didn't enjoy it and I said that I

:07:35. > :07:38.didn't want it to happen ag`in, especially because he tried to pay

:07:39. > :07:42.me for it and I hated that! I didn't like that at all. So I wouldn't say

:07:43. > :07:45.that I would be repeating that again. Definitely no further than

:07:46. > :07:48.where I took it. Rachel inshsts she'll never have sex for money but

:07:49. > :07:54.still wouldn't want her pardnts finding out about her sugar daddies.

:07:55. > :07:58.Obviously I didn't feel right about that at all. I don't even lhke the

:07:59. > :08:02.bit where I accept money for lunch. Especially because I know the

:08:03. > :08:05.person, I feel a bit guilty now that I'm still making him pay for my

:08:06. > :08:09.company. But obviously I wotldn t have become friends with hil under

:08:10. > :08:12.any other circumstance so... The Seeking Arrangement website that

:08:13. > :08:18.Rachel belongs to is based hn Las Vegas. So I've arranged for an

:08:19. > :08:26.online interview with PR chhef Ange;a Bermudo. `` Angela. H want

:08:27. > :08:29.her to explain to me what m`kes them different from an escort agdncy

:08:30. > :08:31.Seeking Arrangement is a dating website. It's about finding a

:08:32. > :08:36.relationship with somebody who shares the values that you're

:08:37. > :08:39.looking for. A lot of peopld may have a hard time understandhng

:08:40. > :08:45.because we are involving, you know, financial assistance in the

:08:46. > :08:51.relationships. However, it hs far removed from agencies like dscort

:08:52. > :08:54.services or prostitution. Btt what I'm saying is... Although you say

:08:55. > :09:03.that you don't encourage it, it still goes on. Men are still using

:09:04. > :09:06.your, or abusing, your platform I understand that some people are

:09:07. > :09:09.tempting them to solicit sex for money. We find them, you know,

:09:10. > :09:15.through message monitoring `nd immediately put them off thd site.

:09:16. > :09:19.And what about the fact that Rachel was only 17 when she signed up? It's

:09:20. > :09:22.important to note that when you are signing up for our site, yot are

:09:23. > :09:25.entering a legal contract that says that all your information that you

:09:26. > :09:30.enter is in fact correct, especially the fact that you are of agd. If we

:09:31. > :09:33.do find anybody that's under age on the side, like I said, we stspend

:09:34. > :09:36.their account, we ask for ftrther verification of information and all

:09:37. > :09:39.members who have had any communication with that member are

:09:40. > :09:42.notified. So the people behhnd this site insist they monitor thdir

:09:43. > :09:47.members' behaviour and take action against those who break the rules.

:09:48. > :09:56.Rachel's an adult making her own choices and for now, she chooses to

:09:57. > :10:00.be a sugar baby. If money w`sn't such a big issue for you, would you

:10:01. > :10:04.still be doing this? I don't think I would have ever signed up in the

:10:05. > :10:08.first place if money wasn't an issue. But now that I've discovered

:10:09. > :10:12.it... I don't think I'd necdssarily stop seeing the two that I've met if

:10:13. > :10:16.I suddenly came into more money Just because it's a safe wax to make

:10:17. > :10:20.a lot of money through not very much, just having lunch with

:10:21. > :10:22.someone. So I think I'd continue doing it, yeah.

:10:23. > :10:28.So what do you think? I'm stre the subject is going to spark a debate.

:10:29. > :10:32.So why not share your views with us and others on our Facebook page But

:10:33. > :10:34.if you need advice or have been affected by any of the issuds in the

:10:35. > :10:47.film, go to our website... You're watching Inside Out for the

:10:48. > :10:50.Midlands. And tonight, I'm hn Leamington Spa because legend has it

:10:51. > :10:56.in 1918, a Warwickshire private refused to shoot an injured German

:10:57. > :11:01.soldier. Well, the soldier he unwittingly let go was Adolf Hitler.

:11:02. > :11:03.Tricia went in search of thd truth about the private who could have

:11:04. > :11:11.killed Hitler. Royal Leamington Spa has a

:11:12. > :11:16.fascinating history and as ` local radio presenter, I thought H knew

:11:17. > :11:20.most of it. But there is ond name I haven't heard before, Henry Tandey.

:11:21. > :11:25.And there are traces of him all over town. He is listed among thd free

:11:26. > :11:29.men of the borough in the town hall. He's even got a blue plaque

:11:30. > :11:30.dedicated to him. It says hd was the most decorated private soldher of

:11:31. > :11:40.World War I. But if you dig a little deeper, it

:11:41. > :11:43.seems that he actually hit the headlines for having Adolf Hitler in

:11:44. > :11:49.his sights and not pulling the trigger. They say Henry Tandey could

:11:50. > :11:52.have prevented the World War II and after the Coventry Blitz, Hdnry was

:11:53. > :11:59.racked with guilt for letting Hitler go. But is it really true? H'm here

:12:00. > :12:03.to find out. Leamington Town Hall seems like a good place to start.

:12:04. > :12:06.Bobby Taylor is from the town's blue plaque committee and he knows the

:12:07. > :12:09.tale well. Hitler remembered being wounded on the Western front and

:12:10. > :12:12.remembered a British soldier pointing his gun at him and then

:12:13. > :12:20.deliberately not firing, in other words refusing to kill him. Much

:12:21. > :12:24.later on, when Hitler was in power, he saw a photograph of a picture

:12:25. > :12:31.which shows a British soldidr carrying a wounded British soldier.

:12:32. > :12:34.And when Hitler saw this, hd recognised the soldier doing the

:12:35. > :12:40.carrying as the man who had refused to kill him. Do you think it's true?

:12:41. > :12:46.Well, the whole story I find plausible, not proved. And H would

:12:47. > :12:49.give it 6`4 on as being trud. So there could be some truth in it The

:12:50. > :12:51.man carrying the wounded soldier is none other than private Henry

:12:52. > :12:57.Tandey. The painting is of his regilent the

:12:58. > :13:02.Green Howards, marching out of the Menin Crossroads, near Ypres. And

:13:03. > :13:07.the original is currently on show in Kipling Hall in Yorkshire. So how

:13:08. > :13:12.did Hitler come to see it? Hitler certainly received a copy and a

:13:13. > :13:15.photograph of this painting. We have a letter from Hitler's adjutant

:13:16. > :13:20.thanking us for the large photograph.

:13:21. > :13:25.Henry's regiment sent Hitler a copy of the picture as a gesture of

:13:26. > :13:29.goodwill, because he also sdrved in the battle it shows. Some ydars

:13:30. > :13:34.later, in 1938, he met the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain

:13:35. > :13:38.in Munich. Hitler was very proud of the fact that he had actually seen

:13:39. > :13:42.military service and showed the photograph to Chamberlain and

:13:43. > :13:46.pointed out Tandey in it. So he obviously knew about Tandey. And

:13:47. > :13:49.Chamberlain, so the story goes, when he came back after waving hhs white

:13:50. > :13:52.note saying peace in our tile, apparently rang up Tandey, near

:13:53. > :13:56.Coventry, and could not get through to Tandey because Tandey was out but

:13:57. > :14:00.spoke to a member of the falily to say that it was the Prime Mhnister

:14:01. > :14:11.speaking and that he had sedn the photograph of Tandey when hd was

:14:12. > :14:15.with Herr Hitler. Hitler had asked Chamberlain to pass on his thanks to

:14:16. > :14:25.Henry, and if the story is to be believed the Prime Minister did just

:14:26. > :14:28.that. From that point on, hd was forever labelled the man who

:14:29. > :14:31.could've shot Hitler, but not everyone believes it. It's `n

:14:32. > :14:34.incredible story, David, if it's true, but you don't think its true,

:14:35. > :14:39.do you, this story about Henry Tandey. No, I don't think it's true.

:14:40. > :14:43.No. Warwickshire Historian David Johnson is the author of a book

:14:44. > :14:49.about Henry's life, and he thinks all the evidence points to the story

:14:50. > :14:51.not being true. In 1997, Lidutenant Colonel McIntosh, who was the

:14:52. > :14:57.regimental secretary of the Green Howards, tried to get to thd bottom

:14:58. > :15:00.of this story. And he contacted the Bavarian state archives. Thdy

:15:01. > :15:04.confirmed that Hitler was actually on leave from the 25th to the 2 th

:15:05. > :15:12.of September, the event where his life is spared is supposed to have

:15:13. > :15:16.happened on the 28th. But then it turned out that on the 17th, he d

:15:17. > :15:19.been transferred to another part of the line anyway, so he would've been

:15:20. > :15:23.50 miles away. It's pretty hard to have anyone in your sights from 50

:15:24. > :15:27.miles away, let alone Hitler, but what about the phone call from

:15:28. > :15:30.Chamberlain? There were two things about that that troubled me. One,

:15:31. > :15:36.that Chamberlain would've bden busy in 1938. So I went to the University

:15:37. > :15:41.of Birmingham and went throtgh the Chamberlain papers and therd was

:15:42. > :15:44.nothing about this at all. So no record of the phone call th`t

:15:45. > :15:49.Neville Chamberlain would'vd made to Henry Tandey? No, that's right. And

:15:50. > :15:53.also, I was troubled by, wotld Henry Tandey have had a telephone in his

:15:54. > :15:56.house? So, through the BT archives, I was able to establish that they

:15:57. > :16:02.didn't have a telephone, so he couldn't have received that call.

:16:03. > :16:08.You have to say, at the end of that day on the 28th September, Henry had

:16:09. > :16:14.been wounded twice. He was losing a lot of blood. He would've bden

:16:15. > :16:17.covered in blood, covered in all sorts of dirt from the battle, as

:16:18. > :16:21.would Hitler. So the chances of Hitler recognising him from a

:16:22. > :16:25.painting was extremely unlikely True or not, it's a fantasthc story,

:16:26. > :16:32.and one that people are happy to continue debating. The incidents

:16:33. > :16:37.that were remembered by both people were incidents that people would

:16:38. > :16:43.remember. Also, Tandey never boasted about what he had done, the mercy

:16:44. > :16:47.he'd shown. He didn't say that Hitler was the man in his gtn

:16:48. > :16:55.sights. He said he rememberdd the incident but not the face of the

:16:56. > :17:00.human being. It is very difficult to say. Could be Tandey seeing a

:17:01. > :17:04.photograph of Hitler in his German uniform and he rather felt that

:17:05. > :17:12.there was someone similar to who he fired at. It's a very difficult

:17:13. > :17:17.question to answer. Henry T`ndey left the army in 1926 and rdturned

:17:18. > :17:22.to civilian life. He moved to Coventry where he worked for the

:17:23. > :17:28.standard motor company. But he never shook off the story that he'd let

:17:29. > :17:33.Adolf Hitler go. I think th`t he still suffers a little bit from his

:17:34. > :17:39.legacy. He suffers a little bit from this story. It is very interesting

:17:40. > :17:42.to me, for example, that if you go round the National Army Musdum in

:17:43. > :17:45.London or you go round the Hmperial War Museum, there's nothing in the

:17:46. > :17:49.collections about Henry Tandey at all and yet he's the most ddcorated

:17:50. > :17:54.private soldier to survive the First World War. So you have to ask, well,

:17:55. > :18:03.why is that? I think there's some snobbery and still this Hitler story

:18:04. > :18:11.is casting a long shadow. Hdnry Tandey died at his home in Coventry

:18:12. > :18:14.on 20th December 1977, aged 86. His ashes were taken to France by his

:18:15. > :18:21.nephew and great nephew and are buried at the Masnieres British

:18:22. > :18:24.Cemetery near Marconing. I so wanted to believe that this incredhble

:18:25. > :18:29.story was indeed true, but `ll the evidence suggests that it is just an

:18:30. > :18:32.urban myth. But whatever yot believe, I hope Henry Tandex is

:18:33. > :18:43.remembered as the great man and soldier that he indeed was. He was a

:18:55. > :18:58.machine gun by himself and capturing 20 Germans, and his Victori` Cross

:18:59. > :19:07.was a series of very gallant occasions. I think Henry nedds to be

:19:08. > :19:11.remembered as this extremelx brave man who had already, by the time he

:19:12. > :19:16.won his medals, been mentioned in dispatches five times, he'd been

:19:17. > :19:19.wounded twice. He's a man that we should all feel proud of, and if

:19:20. > :19:29.you're looking for a hero, xou couldn't do any better.

:19:30. > :19:33.Well, it just goes to show sometimes you need to question stories that

:19:34. > :19:38.are presented as fact. But laybe you've got a story I should know

:19:39. > :19:48.about. If so, drop me an e`lail I will get back to you.

:19:49. > :19:51.Now, how many of you are sthll on the fitness push post Christmas If

:19:52. > :19:54.you've taken up running, have you made the five kilometre landmark

:19:55. > :19:58.yet? That's great, but you've still got quite a bit of training to do if

:19:59. > :20:01.you want to beat Gloucester man Jamie McDonald. He pledged to run

:20:02. > :20:10.5,000 miles coast to coast hn Canada for charity.

:20:11. > :20:13.The Atlantic Ocean at the easternmost point of Canada, and the

:20:14. > :20:21.starting point for Jamie McDonald's epic cross country run. He's aiming

:20:22. > :20:29.to become the first Briton to run unsupported across the

:20:30. > :20:35.second`biggest country in the world. 5,000 miles across Canada! @head

:20:36. > :20:47.lies months of extremes ` hhghs and lows. I'm going east instead of

:20:48. > :20:55.west! This is the story of his epic journey.

:20:56. > :21:04.Training`wise, I've done a few one, two mile runs. I haven't re`lly

:21:05. > :21:09.thought it through. Jamie ldft his comfy home in Gloucester last March.

:21:10. > :21:17.I'm going to be camping on the side of the road. I kind of like sleeping

:21:18. > :21:20.just anywhere and everywherd. He began months of roadside running and

:21:21. > :21:29.camping in the freezing Can`dian winter. I'm going to be on the

:21:30. > :21:37.Trans`Canada Highway for thd next 400 miles. But right from d`y one,

:21:38. > :21:47.it's obvious that camping bx the side of the road just isn't an

:21:48. > :21:59.option on the snowy ground. I just knocked on that door and thdy're

:22:00. > :22:06.letting me stay in the garddn. Jamie soon discovers why Canadians

:22:07. > :22:13.have such a friendly reputation Over the following 11 months, he's

:22:14. > :22:23.put up for the night. He's fed like a king. I have myself a Sunday roast

:22:24. > :22:29.dinner. They've even laid ott sandwiches for me on my bed to take

:22:30. > :22:38.with me on the road. And he's even given a practical buggy to replace

:22:39. > :22:46.the heavy backpack. Most of his time is spent running on his own. I've

:22:47. > :22:57.seen that sign before! I've gone the wrong way! How have I done ht?!

:22:58. > :23:02.Argh! That little mistake h`s added an extra ten miles to the journey.

:23:03. > :23:10.I'd better get running. Makd me feel better. A young man from England is

:23:11. > :23:13.running across Canada to help raise money for children's hospit`ls, and

:23:14. > :23:19.he's doing it... As word of his exploits spreads, donations begin to

:23:20. > :23:23.roll in. Thank you very much. Isn't it amazing? I came out of that

:23:24. > :23:29.restaurant with over $100 for sick kids. The reason for taking on this

:23:30. > :23:32.Canadian adventure goes way back to Jamie's childhood when he spent

:23:33. > :23:38.months in hospital. I've got a condition called syringomyelia,

:23:39. > :23:44.which is extremely rare. I tsed to have epilepsy and immune deficiency.

:23:45. > :23:49.I had a whole year off school at one point. Now he's raising mondy for

:23:50. > :23:54.children's hospitals in England and Canada. I'd like to give thhs on

:23:55. > :23:58.behalf of the staff and man`gement here for your cause. That's amazing.

:23:59. > :24:02.Thank you so much for what xou're doing. As word of his adventure

:24:03. > :24:09.spreads, Jamie gets a taste of fame. Front page! Front page, man. People

:24:10. > :24:15.start to join him on the run. We have a group. ALL: Whoo! In June, he

:24:16. > :24:27.heads into the french`speakhng province of Quebec. Bonjour,

:24:28. > :24:37.monsieur! A new city, and time for a flash new

:24:38. > :24:41.look. Inspired by his new stperhero outfit, he makes a 300`mile detour

:24:42. > :24:47.to make an emotional visit to one of the hospitals he's raising loney

:24:48. > :24:56.for. Close to crying. Hold ht together.

:24:57. > :25:12.He continues running past the Great Lakes with their spectacular scenery

:25:13. > :25:14.and wildlife. Looks like it is walking aw`y.

:25:15. > :25:37.That's good. Beyond is the endless expanse of the

:25:38. > :25:39.prairies. After nine months on the road, the going is getting dver

:25:40. > :25:57.tougher. I can't do it no more. I just.. I'm

:25:58. > :26:07.so close but yet so far. I'll miss spending Christmas with my family.

:26:08. > :26:12.Just not fast enough. But ghving up isn't an option. Jamie beats his

:26:13. > :26:15.demons but then faces perhaps the greatest challenge of the whole

:26:16. > :26:20.journey ` crossing the Rockhes in the depths of winter. They `re just

:26:21. > :26:32.something else. Absolutely breathtaking. The ever`friendly

:26:33. > :26:41.Canadians make sure he's not alone in the mountains, especiallx at

:26:42. > :26:50.Christmas. Three, two, one... But while celebrating the New Ydar in

:26:51. > :26:57.Banff, he is beaten up and robbed. From then on, it's downhill all the

:26:58. > :27:00.way to Vancouver. And it's ` hero's welcome after 332 days on the road.

:27:01. > :27:27.Thanks so much. It's finally happened. I've dreamt

:27:28. > :27:34.about it for 11 months. Every single day I walk up. And I didn't think I

:27:35. > :27:45.could do it. I kept going somehow. Who's your daddy? There havd been so

:27:46. > :27:51.many moments on this journex that it hasn't quite worked out, and I don't

:27:52. > :27:56.think you can do a journey like this for it to work out. But at the end,

:27:57. > :28:04.I would not change any of those experiences for the world, good or

:28:05. > :28:07.bad. An incredible story, and he's raised

:28:08. > :28:16.over ?100,000 for children's hospitals in Canada and in the UK.

:28:17. > :28:20.Hats off to you, Jamie. Well, that's it from me till the autumn when

:28:21. > :28:24.we'll be back with more surprising stories from where you live. But if

:28:25. > :28:29.you want to get in touch, jtst e`mail me. Until then, thanks for

:28:30. > :29:06.watching, and I'll see you next time.

:29:07. > :29:15.Hello. The 92nd update. The Oscar Pistorius trial has begun in South
