0:00:42 > 0:00:48Welcome to tonight s Inside Out West.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01If you re lucky enough to be in a nice warm bed tonight,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04spare a thought for the growing army of people sleeping rough

0:01:04 > 0:01:07on pavements and in doorways.

0:01:07 > 0:01:11Here in Weston it's already freezing ? just think

0:01:11 > 0:01:17what it ll be like later on.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26We ve got a noticeably cold night ahead across North Somerset.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29We ll find even on the coastal fringes temperatures dropping

0:01:29 > 0:01:32to freezing or -1 and there may well be some fog around as well.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35I m heading to Weston super Mare to spend a night on the streets.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37It's one of many places in our region

0:01:37 > 0:01:39where there are visibly more

0:01:39 > 0:01:42homeless people ? we ll know exactly how bad the situation

0:01:42 > 0:01:44is when the latest rough sleeper figures

0:01:44 > 0:01:47are published later this week.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49And while we might all walk

0:01:49 > 0:01:52past homeless people - how many of us ever really

0:01:52 > 0:01:58think about what it s like to be on the streets at night.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00He was brought out on the stretcher - he was gone.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02He froze?

0:02:02 > 0:02:07Yep ? he froze yeah ? during the night ? hypothermia.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10Nothing could prepare me for what to expect.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13I don t know how long til sunrise but this is really, really,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16really near impossible ? it really is.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20I don t know how they do it.

0:02:20 > 0:02:29Could I make it to the morning?!

0:02:29 > 0:02:33It s just after 6 o clock in the evening here in Weston super

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Mare and I m told it s not a great place to be sleeping

0:02:37 > 0:02:40rough on the streets because of the terrible,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42terrible temperatures.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45I have the luxury of actually going home anytime I want

0:02:45 > 0:02:46to ? these guys don t.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49And in that Victorian shelter just down the road

0:02:49 > 0:02:53there are a few of the guys who are sleeping there ? I m just

0:02:53 > 0:02:58going to go and introduce myself.

0:02:58 > 0:03:04Hello, how are you?

0:03:04 > 0:03:08This shelter is being shared by Steve, Martin and Kev.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Kev, what s it like at night?

0:03:11 > 0:03:12Freezing.

0:03:12 > 0:03:13Is it?

0:03:13 > 0:03:19Yeah ? we just have to manage, get into the blankets and sleeping bags.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23How long you been doing this, Kev?

0:03:23 > 0:03:257 months.

0:03:25 > 0:03:307 months, 7 months ? in this?

0:03:30 > 0:03:34It s a familiar story ? Steve s been sleeping rough in Weston

0:03:34 > 0:03:37for the past 9 months.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40What s it like living like this?

0:03:40 > 0:03:45It s not very good but it s life and you make it the best you can.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49It must feel like every day is this horrible cycle you re in?

0:03:49 > 0:03:57I don t even wanna wake up some mornings ? I just want it to end.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01Oh, gosh.

0:04:01 > 0:04:07I can t do it no more now ? I m still trying but everyone says

0:04:07 > 0:04:12you can cope and you can survive and yeah.

0:04:12 > 0:04:18Steve, Martin and Kev are being helped by local people -

0:04:18 > 0:04:23who bring them hot drinks and food.

0:04:23 > 0:04:24Hi Liona, I m Seb.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27They ve also set up a Facebook page

0:04:27 > 0:04:29in the last few weeks ? to raise awareness and encourage more

0:04:29 > 0:04:30people to offer support.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32Your name is?

0:04:32 > 0:04:33Joseph.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35Joseph ? hello ? you helping these guys out?

0:04:35 > 0:04:38Yep ? I ve got warm food.

0:04:38 > 0:04:46Do you think this is a problem that ll ever get resolved?

0:04:46 > 0:04:49They easily put things in to attract people to Weston but then try

0:04:49 > 0:04:53and hide the other side of Weston, and there s things they can do

0:04:53 > 0:04:56which I don t feel they do.

0:04:56 > 0:05:02Everyone deserves a chance to be in a house and somewhere warm ? not

0:05:02 > 0:05:04out here in the cold.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06It really does upset you doesn t it Joseph?

0:05:07 > 0:05:11Yeah ? it s not right.

0:05:11 > 0:05:15It s 8 o clock - the group meet around this time each night ? before

0:05:15 > 0:05:17heading to different parts of the town, taking

0:05:17 > 0:05:24supplies to those in need.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28There is no night shelter here ? the closest is Bristol.

0:05:28 > 0:05:32North Somerset Council estimates the number of rough sleepers in ths

0:05:32 > 0:05:37area as 7 but the volunteers say it s much higher.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39We ve calculated there s about 20 or 30

0:05:39 > 0:05:40of them sleeping rough.

0:05:40 > 0:05:41As high as that?

0:05:41 > 0:05:43Yes, yes.

0:05:43 > 0:05:47So what have they got wrong that you ve seen?

0:05:47 > 0:05:51We re just going out having a search and finding em more ? they are just

0:05:51 > 0:05:53waiting for them to go in the council office.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56But it can be daunting for them to go in that

0:05:56 > 0:05:58council office sometimes.

0:05:58 > 0:06:05It needs sorting now.

0:06:05 > 0:06:09As Val takes me around the high street and boulevard, I m amazed

0:06:09 > 0:06:19to see there s even someone sleeping outside the council offices.

0:06:20 > 0:06:27Hiya, you alright?

0:06:27 > 0:06:30In the few hours we spend walking around ? we see

0:06:30 > 0:06:40about 10 rough sleepers, in just a very small area.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46It s coming up to midnight or so ? I ve just left

0:06:46 > 0:06:47Val in the town centre.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51I m heading down to the Victorian shelter where Kevin,

0:06:51 > 0:06:54Martin and Steve are setting down for the night ? I ll be

0:06:54 > 0:06:56sleeping over there.

0:06:56 > 0:07:03I ve just got to hope I can make it through the night ? that s all.

0:07:03 > 0:07:10When I get back Steve is struggling because of the cold.

0:07:10 > 0:07:15You need to cover yourself up my friend.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18Tell me about your old life Steve ? what was it like?

0:07:18 > 0:07:21It was OK to start off with ? I was married and had kids.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23You were married.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25How long were you married for?

0:07:25 > 0:07:2910 years.

0:07:29 > 0:07:30Do your kids keep in touch?

0:07:30 > 0:07:34No, I never see my kids.

0:07:34 > 0:07:36Do they know you re here?

0:07:36 > 0:07:38No.

0:07:38 > 0:07:39Do you miss them?

0:07:39 > 0:07:41Yeah.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43Do you think about your old life?

0:07:43 > 0:07:47Yeah course, every time I always see my children.

0:07:47 > 0:07:49Do you?

0:07:49 > 0:07:54Yeah in my mind.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Steve I don t know how you do this ? it s, it s

0:07:57 > 0:08:02seriously, seriously cold.

0:08:02 > 0:08:08I m not too bad now I m in this sleeping bag ? it s like I m living

0:08:08 > 0:08:11back in a house again in my bed.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14Is that how you picture it?

0:08:14 > 0:08:19Yeah ? this is my home ? if I could rent this off the council

0:08:19 > 0:08:24I d rent it and block it all off and put a door there

0:08:24 > 0:08:34so I could shut it all off and have my own little space.

0:08:34 > 0:08:43At around 2am I attempt to settle down.

0:08:43 > 0:08:53This is the only way I can keep warm.

0:08:54 > 0:09:03This is, this is freezing.

0:09:13 > 0:09:23No matter how hard I try, I just can t get to sleep.

0:09:27 > 0:09:31It s about 4:30 at the moment ? it s impossible,

0:09:31 > 0:09:33absolutely impossible.

0:09:33 > 0:09:39I ve got so many layers on but it s just getting colder and colder ?

0:09:39 > 0:09:46I think it s about 4 just getting colder and colder ?

0:09:46 > 0:09:50Some of those guys in there have terrible coughs and they ve been

0:09:50 > 0:09:53coughing all night ? it s absolutely freezing, it s near

0:09:53 > 0:10:00impossible to survive this.

0:10:00 > 0:10:02I m going to go back in there and try and sleep

0:10:02 > 0:10:05a little bit, at least.

0:10:05 > 0:10:08The number of rough sleepers across the region has almost

0:10:08 > 0:10:12doubled in last four 4 years.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15When it gets below freezing for more than three 3 nights on the trot,

0:10:15 > 0:10:18emergency accommodation should be offered to anyone forced

0:10:18 > 0:10:21to sleep outside.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24One of the reasons is to try and prevent deaths.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27But we ve been told in the last year alone at least 15 people have

0:10:27 > 0:10:33died on the streets.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36So it s 6:50 ? most of the time there was freezing fog

0:10:36 > 0:10:37around.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40I ll show you on top of the car.

0:10:40 > 0:10:44Look at that ? that s a lot of frost there!

0:10:44 > 0:10:46It s not just me who s had trouble tonight.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49Even for Martin who is used

0:10:49 > 0:10:52to this ?sleeping in these conditions is a struggle?

0:10:52 > 0:10:56You OK, Martin ? how was the night?

0:10:56 > 0:11:01Cold ? that s just a mild night last night, not

0:11:01 > 0:11:07as cold as it normally is.

0:11:07 > 0:11:11Martin, there s a few guys who died recently isn t there?

0:11:11 > 0:11:16Yeah, there was one just up that shelter there.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18He was brought out on the stretcher.

0:11:18 > 0:11:19He was gone.

0:11:19 > 0:11:21He froze?

0:11:21 > 0:11:26Yep ? he froze ? during the night ? hypothermia I think.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29That must be scary?

0:11:29 > 0:11:39Yeah it is, but you ve got to brave it out because I ve got no choice.

0:11:48 > 0:11:49I m too old for all this.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52I need help with my drink cos I m an alcoholic.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55I need help with my eyesight ? to try and get my eyesight back

0:11:55 > 0:11:58so I can see what I m doing ? I don t wanna live

0:11:58 > 0:12:04like this no more.

0:12:05 > 0:12:11For me, luckily this was just one night.

0:12:11 > 0:12:19See you, boys.

0:12:19 > 0:12:20It was really difficult

0:12:20 > 0:12:24to say goodbye to Steve and Martin.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27I ve really bonded with them ? I ve been here for 14 hours and I ve

0:12:27 > 0:12:29really got to know them.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32Spent the night in that shelter over there.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34It was really difficult,

0:12:34 > 0:12:38It s stressful when you don t know who might just creep up on you.

0:12:38 > 0:12:43And what struck me is how quickly you can just lose morale ? you know

0:12:43 > 0:12:50and because of the cold and intense hopelessness, you can

0:12:50 > 0:12:54just lose the will to do anything the next day.

0:12:54 > 0:13:00It s a very, very, very sad situation.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16What happened to those three after we stopped filming? We kept in touch

0:13:16 > 0:13:22and they are OK. Thriving. Just glad the weather is mild this week. Don't

0:13:22 > 0:13:30forgot to e-mail me with your stories. Plenty more on Facebook and

0:13:30 > 0:13:33Twitter.

0:13:34 > 0:13:38An honest loaf ? wholesome and reassuring.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40But for staff at bakeries we ve been hearing about,

0:13:40 > 0:13:43life s been anything but.

0:13:43 > 0:13:49Carys Edwards has been investigating.

0:13:49 > 0:13:53Endacotts ? one of Britain s oldest bakeries.

0:13:53 > 0:13:55They ve been mixing it up here in Okehampton

0:13:55 > 0:13:58for more than a century But recently, frustration has been

0:13:58 > 0:14:02rising faster than the dough.

0:14:02 > 0:14:08When you work for a month expecting to get paid and then you don't

0:14:08 > 0:14:12and you're still anticipating being paid and you're sat

0:14:12 > 0:14:14here thinking, right perhaps it will come tomorrow.

0:14:14 > 0:14:22Perhaps it will, perhaps it won't.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25Even vital supplies such as flour, they say, are in short supply.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27We're all trying to keep it going at the moment

0:14:27 > 0:14:30to see how long it will last but we all know it's

0:14:30 > 0:14:31going to have to go.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34This is the owner of Endacotts, Nicholas Gould.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37He runs an assortment of cafes and bakeries

0:14:37 > 0:14:39from his house in Somerset.

0:14:39 > 0:14:41Since he took over Endacotts in Devon last year,

0:14:41 > 0:14:45staff say things have been hopelessly half-baked

0:14:45 > 0:14:47Has this ever happened to you before?

0:14:47 > 0:14:49No.

0:14:49 > 0:14:50It's been my life in here.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52Never happened.

0:14:52 > 0:14:53Never owed money to anyone.

0:14:53 > 0:15:00Now I'm starting to owe people money.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02We ve evidence of problems at other businesses Mr Gould has bought

0:15:02 > 0:15:03in the last few years.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06Urban Brunch in Yeovil seems to have closed down.

0:15:06 > 0:15:09And Mr Gould bought the Oven Door Bakery

0:15:09 > 0:15:12in the Hampshire village of Fair Oak in June 2016.

0:15:12 > 0:15:22It s been closed since November, apparently for refurbishment.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Ray Norton has been a baker for 43 years.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40For the last ten of those he ran the confectionary

0:15:40 > 0:15:47department at The Oven Door.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49Ray was suspended on full pay last August.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52He s sent recorded letters and emails to Nick Gould and has

0:15:52 > 0:15:55heard nothing back - so he s going to tribunal.

0:15:55 > 0:15:59I won t give up, because it s unjust.

0:15:59 > 0:16:04And basically you can t just ruin people s lives and put em on hold.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06Donna Gingell served customers

0:16:06 > 0:16:11at The Oven Door for four years.

0:16:11 > 0:16:14Donna says the problems started when Nick Gould took over.

0:16:14 > 0:16:15In October, she wasn t paid.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18I had to beg him to actually put money in my account.

0:16:18 > 0:16:19I had no money for food.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21No money for electric.

0:16:21 > 0:16:22No money to pay the rent.

0:16:22 > 0:16:23I m a single mum.

0:16:23 > 0:16:27And that was my only my only income.

0:16:27 > 0:16:33Mr Gould eventually paid Donna some of her wages.

0:16:33 > 0:16:35So why have things soured so badly?

0:16:35 > 0:16:37We contacted Mr Gould to find out.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40He said he had been dealing with a number of issues at Endacotts

0:16:40 > 0:16:43including two break-ins and problems with admin.

0:16:43 > 0:16:46He said he had appointed a new manager who would add focus

0:16:46 > 0:16:56and direction to the business.

0:16:58 > 0:17:01Mr Gould told us he wouldn t comment further because of what he described

0:17:01 > 0:17:03as live legal cases.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05With other staff worried they re going to be on the breadline,

0:17:05 > 0:17:09we wanted to give Mr Gould a final chance to chew it all over with us.

0:17:09 > 0:17:12But first I went to see Joy Whittington at the West Camel

0:17:12 > 0:17:13Bakery near Yeovil.

0:17:13 > 0:17:16Joy says she s owed £500 for bread she supplied to Mr Gould last May.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19We ve written, we ve begged and we ve asked and he s not replied

0:17:19 > 0:17:21to any of our correspondence.

0:17:21 > 0:17:25I m disgusted with him really that he won t make

0:17:25 > 0:17:30any provision to pay.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33Joy s decided to let her talent do the talking.

0:17:33 > 0:17:40She s baked a showstopper for Mr Gould.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42if he s that hard up he obviously needs to eat and

0:17:42 > 0:17:44you ve written on it?

0:17:44 > 0:17:47Yes, where s our dough, and it s not just me, it s the dough

0:17:47 > 0:17:51for everyone that he owes.

0:17:51 > 0:18:01One cake, special delivery.

0:18:06 > 0:18:16There is a question.Don't do that, this is such a bad form.We would

0:18:16 > 0:18:19like you to answer questions from your staff. They have baked a cake

0:18:19 > 0:18:29for you which asks where the money might be.

0:18:29 > 0:18:33They can only hope Mr Gould might finally digest their message.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36Where is the money that you owe all these people?

0:18:36 > 0:18:39Why can you not pay it or explain why you are not paying it?

0:18:40 > 0:18:49Man up and pay your bills.

0:18:56 > 0:19:00You also know that it just isn't that easy to lose weight. We

0:19:00 > 0:19:03challenged nine-year-old Billy and his family to get active with some

0:19:11 > 0:19:13This is Billy, he s 9.

0:19:13 > 0:19:19He s about to take on his first ever park run.

0:19:23 > 0:19:28I'm feeling excited about it. It will be my first copper run without

0:19:28 > 0:19:29stopping.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31It s a tough course ? 5km through the hilly

0:19:31 > 0:19:34Ashton Court Estate but the run isn t Billy s

0:19:34 > 0:19:36greatest challenge today.

0:19:36 > 0:19:38He has a visual impairment.

0:19:38 > 0:19:42It means he can t do this on his own, he needs a guide.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45And even though it s my first park run as well, I ll be

0:19:45 > 0:19:47helping him round the course.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50So why are we putting Billy through this?

0:19:50 > 0:19:52It s all about being active.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54We know exercise is good for our physical

0:19:54 > 0:20:00and emotional well-being - but we re doing less and less.

0:20:00 > 0:20:04And it s all too easy to find excuses to avoid doing any.

0:20:09 > 0:20:12And that habit starts early ? less than a third of 2 to 15-year-olds do

0:20:12 > 0:20:15the recommended amount of exercise ?

0:20:15 > 0:20:16and by age 11, a third of pupils

0:20:16 > 0:20:20are already overweight.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23So to challenge that, the BBC have joined up

0:20:23 > 0:20:26with the Premier League to create Supermovers ? a two-year project

0:20:26 > 0:20:28for primary schools to encourage children to get more active every

0:20:29 > 0:20:32day.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36Although Billy is happily very active - his eye condition means

0:20:36 > 0:20:39it s going to get harder and harder for him to play sport

0:20:39 > 0:20:41in the future.

0:20:41 > 0:20:45I find it hard if people are trying to pass to me from a long

0:20:45 > 0:20:51way out and it s usually quite fast-moving so that s

0:20:51 > 0:20:53also a bit tricky too.

0:20:53 > 0:20:58His condition means that he can t focus on objects.

0:21:04 > 0:21:07My eyes are constantly moving from side to side and then things start

0:21:07 > 0:21:12shaking. I read on my Kindle because usually books are too small for me

0:21:12 > 0:21:13to see.

0:21:13 > 0:21:16His eyes are very sensitive in bright light so he wears

0:21:16 > 0:21:19dark glasses outdoors - and he has poor depth perception.

0:21:23 > 0:21:28I have trouble with seeing how deep steps are and things like that and

0:21:28 > 0:21:33little bumps on the road. Especially when it is my time as well because I

0:21:33 > 0:21:36don't have good night-time vision.

0:21:36 > 0:21:38Having a disability means it can be tough to learn

0:21:38 > 0:21:39new skills and sports.

0:21:39 > 0:21:43I lost my hand, when I was just two - and when I first started swimming

0:21:43 > 0:21:46I was rubbish at it, but my determination paid off

0:21:46 > 0:21:48and I managed to make it all the way to competing

0:21:48 > 0:21:52in the 2008 Paralympics.

0:21:52 > 0:21:56I want everyone to be more active ? it s always been my life ? got

0:21:56 > 0:22:01so much out of my sport ? having a disability never held me back ?

0:22:01 > 0:22:05still found it difficult sometimes to get motivated even though I knew

0:22:05 > 0:22:09how important it was to me.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11Billy s parents aren t going to allow his disability

0:22:11 > 0:22:14to force him into giving up sport.

0:22:19 > 0:22:26He loves absolutely every sport. He is looking into running as something

0:22:26 > 0:22:32he could get into. We have met up with Colin. As we run, I will give

0:22:32 > 0:22:36you instructions about what the circus is like. Is it rough or

0:22:36 > 0:22:41smooth, are we going up and down? How do you feel about using the

0:22:41 > 0:22:45tether? I am quite confident with it. Maybe we will give it a go and

0:22:45 > 0:22:51do some running.

0:22:53 > 0:23:05That's it. Move your arms around to the right. Three, two, one. That's

0:23:05 > 0:23:08brilliant. Excellent.Really good, how you feeling? OK.

0:23:08 > 0:23:09Colin makes it look easy.

0:23:09 > 0:23:10It s not.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13And if I m going to guide Billy round the park run I m

0:23:13 > 0:23:22going to have to learn fast.

0:23:22 > 0:23:29It's tough, isn't it?It's preparing ahead. Imagine a big crowd of people

0:23:29 > 0:23:42you will be running with. There are two year left? Where. Then, then!

0:23:42 > 0:23:49You have to be aware of everything around and not get distracted. It is

0:23:49 > 0:23:54easy to get distracted and forget you have got to tell him what to do

0:23:54 > 0:23:57and what not to do and they are listening for every world.

0:23:57 > 0:23:58And it s not just

0:23:58 > 0:23:59physical well-being which makes

0:23:59 > 0:24:02being active such a crucial part of our lives.

0:24:05 > 0:24:11There are psychological benefits. It leads to feelings of happiness and

0:24:11 > 0:24:13well-being and is evidence that being physically active helps

0:24:13 > 0:24:21children attain better rates in school. How important is the family

0:24:21 > 0:24:24experience?Families are really important. The more they can do to

0:24:24 > 0:24:28support their children's activity, not being active with them, but

0:24:28 > 0:24:32doing things that can encourage them by taking them places, coming up

0:24:32 > 0:24:36with new ideas and supporting them, that can really help their physical

0:24:36 > 0:24:38activity, too.

0:24:38 > 0:24:40And Billy s family are right behind him.

0:24:44 > 0:24:50I took up running years ago when I had a football injury. I had a

0:24:50 > 0:24:56mental breakdown at the same time as my dad passed away. I went into a

0:24:56 > 0:24:59clinical depression and running really helped me get out of it. I

0:24:59 > 0:25:01have been running ever since. I would recommend it to anyone

0:25:01 > 0:25:09struggling with depression, Italy helped me.I've done two runs trying

0:25:09 > 0:25:15to get myself on the fitness and I am finding it is helping me, it has

0:25:15 > 0:25:19given me the push of a have to do it because I have a really fit family

0:25:19 > 0:25:23and I'm not! I want to be able to keep up with them!

0:25:23 > 0:25:26It s just a couple of weeks before the parkrun.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29Billy s dad is in charge of training - but there s been a setback.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37What scares me about the run is there are quite big hills and I

0:25:37 > 0:25:42don't like running up them.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45If Billy s feeling a bit nervous about the run,

0:25:45 > 0:25:48he might take inspiration from other visually impaired runners -

0:25:48 > 0:25:55like Tracy who lost her sight 27 years ago.

0:25:56 > 0:26:01I couldn't get over losing my sight and I basically stayed in. It's only

0:26:01 > 0:26:03been the last three years that I have come out and started mingling.

0:26:03 > 0:26:09I just shut myself off from everyone and everything. That first real

0:26:09 > 0:26:14positive experience was getting involved with a running club?Yes,

0:26:14 > 0:26:22it was a sense of freedom. Worries went out the door.Thinking about

0:26:22 > 0:26:25Billy, how important is it to make sure children at a young age are

0:26:25 > 0:26:31getting positive experience?I think it's an important for Billy to meet

0:26:31 > 0:26:36with people like myself who can give him some ideas of the kind of sport

0:26:36 > 0:26:42that he could be involved in now and indeed in later life.Do you have

0:26:42 > 0:26:48aspirations to play football? Yes. We need to have a little chat!

0:26:48 > 0:26:56It s time to put my new-found guiding skills to the test.

0:27:05 > 0:27:08Over 300 people have braved the cold to tackle

0:27:08 > 0:27:11the hills of Ashton Court.

0:27:16 > 0:27:20How you feeling?Good. What's the plan for the rest of the race? The

0:27:20 > 0:27:33same pace. Not to go too fast.

0:27:36 > 0:27:4243 and a half minutes later, it s all over.

0:27:51 > 0:27:56The last bit going up that Hill, the bad bid. The best bit?Sprinting to

0:27:56 > 0:28:03the finish. I do know where that energy came from? I chipped over a

0:28:03 > 0:28:07stone. That was probably because we were having a chat!

0:28:07 > 0:28:09Thanks to Billy, his whole family is getting the supermovers bug.

0:28:09 > 0:28:11Will you do it again?

0:28:16 > 0:28:19I'd only just started running but I think it's a great opportunity for

0:28:19 > 0:28:29me to get out more and to get more fit and healthy.

0:28:29 > 0:28:31Well, if Billy s inspired you check out this link

0:28:31 > 0:28:34www.bbc.co.uk/supermovers for lots of tips on how to get

0:28:34 > 0:28:35you and your family active.

0:28:35 > 0:28:38That s it for this week ? hope you enjoyed the programme.

0:28:38 > 0:28:40Bye.

0:28:46 > 0:28:50Coming up, George came within a whisker of death but who would shoot

0:28:50 > 0:28:55a cat?None of us could believe it, we still are very angry and upset.

0:28:55 > 0:28:58We didn't even know if he was going to make it and it was totally

0:28:58 > 0:29:01heartbreaking to loss.
