:00:00. > :00:10.No more on our top stories at 9pm. -- more on our top stories at 9pm.

:00:11. > :00:36.Now it is time for a Newswatch. Welcome to Newswatch.

:00:37. > :00:41.Does he need to be in TF? -- Kiev. And some viewers have already heard

:00:42. > :00:53.enough about Oscar Pistorius. It has been a week where the

:00:54. > :00:58.impartiality of the BBC in reporting on Ukraine has been lost according

:00:59. > :01:03.to some viewers. There has been a feeling that there

:01:04. > :01:04.has been a simplistic portrayal of Russia as the baddies and the West

:01:05. > :01:48.as the goodies. presence of Hugh Edwards in Kiev.

:01:49. > :01:53.First we are going to go to Downing Street...

:01:54. > :02:38.This gave rise to scores of complaints.

:02:39. > :03:13.invitation to discuss this. Instead they gave this statement.

:03:14. > :03:18.was your objection? The same as has been said earlier. Why parachute in

:03:19. > :03:26.a high-profile presenter when four weeks we have been seeing all the

:03:27. > :03:41.information from Kiev from reporters on the ground? It seems like a waste

:03:42. > :03:50.of money and resources. In the BBC statement they say that he gave

:03:51. > :03:56.extra insight. Where that was I do not know. I watched him on the

:03:57. > :04:02.prime-time news. I did not watch the other programmes. Obviously those

:04:03. > :04:07.programmes go out anyway. Surely they have teams doing that work

:04:08. > :04:12.every day of the week. Why did we need ten parachuted in?

:04:13. > :04:18.One argument I can imagine newsmakers giving is that if you

:04:19. > :04:24.look at other news organisations, they sent anchors out to Kiev. They

:04:25. > :04:31.may well think it is a statement to the audience that this is an

:04:32. > :04:36.important story. We audience understand a lot of

:04:37. > :04:41.things. We do not have too been led by the nose to look at a news

:04:42. > :04:47.programme. We watch it. We take it in. We do not need someone with a

:04:48. > :04:54.high profile for two days only to tell us that this is a high-profile

:04:55. > :05:00.story. The reporters already on the ground in Kiev would have had a huge

:05:01. > :05:08.workload. Can you see the case for additional support? When I watched

:05:09. > :05:16.the news programmes I was watching I did not see him relieving pressure

:05:17. > :05:23.on those guys, particularly the guy reporting on the Ukrainian navy.

:05:24. > :05:31.What would your message be to the BBC bosses about this? There is no

:05:32. > :05:37.need to send someone to an area to cover a link when they can do that

:05:38. > :05:44.quite adequately from London with the same people, saving themselves a

:05:45. > :05:51.lot of money. The BBC has to save ?100 million. Spending money sending

:05:52. > :05:53.teams for two days around the world does not make any sense to me. Thank

:05:54. > :06:10.you so much. Let us know your thoughts about

:06:11. > :06:16.that. Let us know your thoughts indeed about any aspect of BBC News.

:06:17. > :06:20.You have been giving us your thoughts on the trial of Oscar

:06:21. > :06:35.Pistorius. And also on the Academy awards.

:06:36. > :06:44.We have got lots of the stars arriving. Paul McCartney. Everyone

:06:45. > :06:55.has been talking about British success. Gravity taking the lion 's

:06:56. > :06:57.share of the awards. One viewer was not swept up in all

:06:58. > :07:44.the excitement. court case that has prominently

:07:45. > :07:50.featured on BBC news all week. We can now see live inside the

:07:51. > :08:04.courtroom. No close-ups of Oscar Pistorius are allowed. How do you

:08:05. > :08:11.plead? Not guilty. Through in-depth analysis and live

:08:12. > :08:22.coverage on the BBC website... And you can catch up on the first day of

:08:23. > :08:25.the trial at 7:30pm... Before the first morning was over we

:08:26. > :09:00.had been contacted by a viewer. came rolling in.

:09:01. > :09:24.That may well be a topic we return to. In the meantime: Captions.

:09:25. > :09:41.Tristram Hunt 's job is to be open and honest. The difference between

:09:42. > :09:49.the parties is clear. Labour 's policy has yet to be formulated.

:09:50. > :09:56.Baroness Morris may have been described as education secretary.

:09:57. > :10:08.But it was the second caption that cot the attention of this pure. --

:10:09. > :10:16.that got the attention of this viewer.

:10:17. > :10:20.Please let us know if you spot any own goals. You may even end up

:10:21. > :11:00.featuring on the programme. Top temperature to was 17 degrees in

:11:01. > :11:08.central London. I cold the across Scotland with snow showers. Milder

:11:09. > :11:11.air is on its way for all of us over the weekend.
