:00:00. > :00:16.are eligible. Until next week, goodbye.

:00:17. > :00:23.Welcome. Objections that the BBC's coverage of the plane crash in

:00:24. > :00:30.Ukraine has been insensitive and intrusive. It is going to be a

:00:31. > :00:36.festival of sport that will be enjoyed and watched by millions

:00:37. > :00:39.around the world. The Commonwealth Games is not enjoyed by every viewer

:00:40. > :00:53.of the Commonwealth Games is not enjoyed by every viewer of BBC News.

:00:54. > :00:57.The crash of flight MH17 has been fully examined over the past week or

:00:58. > :01:01.so on the BBC News. Some of the images showed made for strong

:01:02. > :01:09.feeling. Here are some other excerpts from the output from us

:01:10. > :01:13.weekend, which some viewers might find distressing. Off`duty miners

:01:14. > :01:19.were searching for more bodies. Each is marked with a makeshift stick

:01:20. > :01:24.with a white rag tied to it. In some cases, there is a forest of markers,

:01:25. > :01:29.indicated that struck indicating where passengers alive. There are

:01:30. > :01:34.around 100 bodies that are still missing. Scattered across the

:01:35. > :01:42.ground, the wreckage of flight MH17. This, the cockpit of the plane. And

:01:43. > :01:47.here, the belongings of the travellers. On holidays, business,

:01:48. > :01:56.moving home. The end of all plans and possibilities. Finally, the

:01:57. > :02:03.first international investigators to arrive. The scene of so much death,

:02:04. > :02:11.and a grim task for forensic experts from Holland regarding `` guarded by

:02:12. > :02:14.rebel gunmen. The idea is to move all the bodies to Holland for

:02:15. > :02:20.identification, but for now, just moving them out of the war zone

:02:21. > :02:25.would be good. Two of the viewers who contacted as this week about the

:02:26. > :02:35.coverage join me now. Sue is in our Birmingham studio and Gary is also

:02:36. > :02:43.joining us. Can you sum up your concern about the coverage of this

:02:44. > :02:48.crash? It was the fact that it was personal belongings being shown on

:02:49. > :02:53.television, and I've felt that I was very distressed, I cannot imagine

:02:54. > :02:57.how anybody who was directly involved in that situation must have

:02:58. > :03:04.felt. I've felt that anything of a personal nature, whether it be a fax

:03:05. > :03:12.or themselves, it would be a terrible thing for those people to

:03:13. > :03:17.view. What about for you? Aerie similar to Gary. I'd just felt that

:03:18. > :03:21.the whole `` very similar to Gary, I just thought that the coverage

:03:22. > :03:26.showed a total lack of respect for the dads in the bereaved families.

:03:27. > :03:31.Did you have an issue with the showing of the hand? I thought that

:03:32. > :03:34.was in bad taste and overstepped a mark.

:03:35. > :03:43.Syria and other places. There is a a few times, and the coverage

:03:44. > :03:47.sense that they express, that it feels like a free for all at the

:03:48. > :03:52.scene, and the coverage was pushing further and further into going close

:03:53. > :03:57.on possessions and showing parts of bodies. First of all, this was a

:03:58. > :04:00.horrible and terrible event, and the feelings of the families and the

:04:01. > :04:06.wider audience are in our thinking as we cover the story. At the same

:04:07. > :04:13.time, we do have to cover the story, and we have to convey impact in the

:04:14. > :04:18.terror of what happened in eastern Ukraine, and that is why we deployed

:04:19. > :04:23.highly experienced correspondents and reducers, and we have programme

:04:24. > :04:27.editors back in London you are very experienced in getting the balance

:04:28. > :04:30.right between the language, the pitches that we show, and what the

:04:31. > :05:18.audience is able to stake in a story of such

:05:19. > :05:26.you are put in a position, where I've felt it was bordering on

:05:27. > :05:33.voyeurism, and I think that is totally unacceptable. There might be

:05:34. > :05:37.cases where war has a lot of horror, but let's bear in mind that

:05:38. > :05:41.a picture speaks a thousand words, but only if those words were worth

:05:42. > :05:46.saying in the first place. This idea of this lack of respect. We know

:05:47. > :05:50.that one reporter had to apologise for touching object that he had

:05:51. > :05:55.found, and it is the sense that the camera has gone into close, and that

:05:56. > :06:01.is part of the reason why viewers feel it is distressing. In terms of

:06:02. > :06:07.the site itself, BBC correspondents stuck to the permitted roads and

:06:08. > :06:12.routes and were not interfering with evidence there, and that would

:06:13. > :06:18.actually say that teens across the `` teams across journalism and did

:06:19. > :06:23.an important job there in terms of telling viewers and audiences in the

:06:24. > :06:27.UK and around the world that this site was unsupervised and was not

:06:28. > :06:31.being regulated, and it did not appear to be handled in the right

:06:32. > :06:35.and proper way, and they need to find out what happened there and

:06:36. > :06:39.they need to do the right thing by the people and families who were

:06:40. > :06:42.involved in that terrible crash. Some of the specific images which

:06:43. > :06:48.have raised complaints, with the benefit of hindsight, do you think

:06:49. > :06:52.we would show them again? I think our imagery through the coverage has

:06:53. > :06:56.been discussed and carefully considered, and I think this was an

:06:57. > :07:02.unprecedented story in terms of its shock in the trauma around it, and

:07:03. > :07:06.I'd think that we were well judged, but I will accept that some parts of

:07:07. > :07:12.the audience will think that maybe there was something we should not

:07:13. > :07:22.have said or shown. Thank you all for joining us.

:07:23. > :07:27.Let us know your thoughts on the coverage of the plane crash in

:07:28. > :07:33.Ukraine or any aspects of BBC News. After a brief rest in sports related

:07:34. > :07:36.complaints, you have also been sending us your views about the

:07:37. > :07:45.extent to which the Commonwealth Games have fissured the structure of

:07:46. > :07:50.`` had featured on the news channel. This is where it will all kick off,

:07:51. > :07:54.Scotland's biggest football stadium, with what promises to be a

:07:55. > :07:57.spectacular opening ceremony in the presence of the Queen. The and

:07:58. > :08:05.higher South stand has been transformed with a giant screen. ``

:08:06. > :08:09.the entire. They are calling it Glasgow's we know on the

:08:10. > :08:13.Commonwealth. The eyes of the world will be on this CD as Glasgow

:08:14. > :08:18.Commonwealth Games in history. `` on Commonwealth Games in history. `` on

:08:19. > :08:24.this city. A graphics extravaganza, but some you beers `` viewers

:08:25. > :08:42.wonder... On Wednesday, the Games got

:08:43. > :08:46.underway, and that evening, while the opening ceremony was being shown

:08:47. > :08:50.on BBC One, and the news channel, the paper review was about to come

:08:51. > :08:55.to a premature end. We think it is high time that interest rates

:08:56. > :08:59.started to rise. I am sorry to interrupt you, but we have got this

:09:00. > :09:07.Commonwealth Games ceremony going on and we just want to take a look at

:09:08. > :09:12.it. Terrific to see him here... In fact, it was more than an hour

:09:13. > :09:16.before the channel returned to the studio, punting a number of

:09:17. > :09:17.complaints. Firstly, a question about the caption at the bottom of

:09:18. > :10:10.the screen `` the screen there. That was not the end of the Games

:10:11. > :10:14.related objections. Breakfast has decamped to Glasgow for the duration

:10:15. > :10:27.of the Glasgow games. Here is Adam Church Hill.

:10:28. > :10:52.We put that point to the breakfast show and were told...

:10:53. > :10:59.Because of the coverage of the Commonwealth Games, this week in

:11:00. > :11:03.Mexico's programme will not be repeated as normal on BBC One, but

:11:04. > :11:10.we are back at 845 on Friday evening on the BBC News Channel, and you can

:11:11. > :11:17.always watch us on the I player. Your opinion could feature on that

:11:18. > :11:24.programme, just call us or e`mail us. You can find us on Twitter and

:11:25. > :11:33.have a look at previous discussions on our website. That is all from us.

:11:34. > :11:44.We will be back to hear your thoughts about BBC News coverage

:11:45. > :11:48.again next week. Good evening. The storms we had in the southeast of

:11:49. > :11:50.England have faded away now, and temperatures are going to
