:00:46. > :00:50.The Westminster coalition's final before the general election has been

:00:50. > :00:53.11 measures were outlined in total, included changes to the pension

:00:53. > :00:56.system, help with childcare and a law that will make it easier for

:00:56. > :01:00.companies to drill for shale gas through the process of fracking.

:01:00. > :01:02.There will also be a measure that makes it easier to

:01:02. > :01:03.recall misbehaving MPs.

:01:03. > :01:04.The

:01:04. > :01:05.The government

:01:05. > :01:28.The government message

:01:28. > :01:39.I programme will continue to deliver on its long-term plan to build a

:01:39. > :01:46.stronger economy and stronger society. But what were the changes?

:01:46. > :01:57.There were changes to pensions, which gives pensioners more freedom

:01:57. > :02:05.to spend their savings. A new group pension concept was also introduced.

:02:05. > :02:09.It is interesting because there will no longer be a need to buy

:02:09. > :02:11.annuities. This will give the individual more flexibility. There

:02:11. > :02:17.is a debate over whether that is a good or bad thing. In a way,

:02:17. > :02:20.collective pensions will restrict the way people can take out their

:02:20. > :02:26.savings in future. More money is going to be released

:02:26. > :02:29.to help with childcare, and there was a measure to make it easier for

:02:29. > :02:31.companies to extract shale gas through fracking. Not everyone is

:02:31. > :02:33.happy. It is going backwards.

:02:33. > :02:34.There will also be a new move to make it easier to unseat this

:02:34. > :02:37.behaving MPs. I think the announcement in the

:02:37. > :02:40.Queens speech is a step in the right direction but what happens in

:02:40. > :02:42.America is far more wide reaching. I think we might see this measure

:02:42. > :02:52.strengthened as it goes through the two houses.

:02:52. > :02:58.England were also face a 5p charge on carrier bags. The government says

:02:58. > :03:02.this is a revolutionary plan. everyone agrees. I was quite

:03:02. > :03:11.disappointed by the Queen 's speech this year because it didn't include

:03:11. > :03:16.many new things. People are being faced with massive fuel bills at the

:03:16. > :03:21.moment and there is nothing in the speech to help them.

:03:21. > :03:27.I would have brought in a measure to make sure that investment is being

:03:27. > :03:30.targeted towards the weakest parts of the Welsh economy. That is done

:03:31. > :03:37.very effectively in Germany and elsewhere.

:03:37. > :03:45.This was a very short speech compared to previous years. The

:03:45. > :03:55.political message was that the coalition is still united and there

:03:55. > :04:00.is still plenty more to do in their Two members of the

:04:00. > :04:03.into a complaint that a 15-year-old boy was strip-searched.

:04:03. > :04:05.The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating

:04:05. > :04:08.the event that allegedly took place in Llandudno two years ago.

:04:08. > :04:11.The boy was one of four young people questioned by the police

:04:11. > :04:12.concerning suspected drug use.

:04:12. > :04:15.A man from Wrexham found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to

:04:15. > :04:18.horses has been given conditional release for two years by

:04:18. > :04:18.Caernarfon Crown Court.

:04:18. > :04:21.Iwan Pennant Williams from Garndolbenmaen will have to

:04:21. > :04:24.donate almost 3,000 towards the RSPCA for failing to alert vets

:04:24. > :04:30.that his horses were losing weight.

:04:30. > :04:33.The National Office for Statistics says Wales has seen an increase

:04:33. > :04:41.of almost 4% in disposable income.

:04:41. > :04:44.But Wales is still about 2,000 under the British average,

:04:44. > :04:46.which is just under 17,000 a year.

:04:46. > :04:50.UKIP's new Welsh MEP has been defending the fact that he has

:04:50. > :04:52.previously employed immigrants from east Europe and the Philippines

:04:52. > :04:54.at his family business.

:04:54. > :04:57.Nathan Gill says there is no inconsistency between his Party's

:04:57. > :04:59.position on immigration and his decision to employ

:04:59. > :05:01.the workers at a care home in Hull.

:05:01. > :05:11.Aled Huw reports.

:05:11. > :05:11.On

:05:11. > :05:11.On the

:05:11. > :05:20.On the streets

:05:20. > :05:23.campaigning for the recent European elections for UKIP. He was very

:05:23. > :05:28.confident about what was the central issue.

:05:28. > :05:34.It is all about EU and immigration, the people who control immigration

:05:35. > :05:47.to this country. For a time, he was director of a

:05:47. > :06:01.family business providing care. He said that he had employed dozens of

:06:01. > :06:03.immigrants. He paid slightly more than the minimum wage. He said the

:06:03. > :06:05.reason was that they couldn't find local workers to carry out the work.

:06:05. > :06:11.He says that it is not a racist party.

:06:11. > :06:18.The argument is how can you want to restrict immigration when you

:06:18. > :06:25.actually promoted, perhaps with a view to keep your company costs

:06:25. > :06:40.down. That is going to have a negative effect on the local jobs

:06:40. > :06:50.The Taliban have released a video He had been kidnapped and held

:06:50. > :07:14.He was released on Saturday American Republicans are warning

:07:15. > :07:18.Just a quarter of children on the successfully matched with a family

:07:18. > :07:20.situation. The National Adoption Service will draw up a national

:07:20. > :07:24.register that could make it easier to match children with families from

:07:24. > :07:27.November. Owain Evans spoke to a woman from Cardiff about her

:07:27. > :07:28.experience of adopting her two children.

:07:28. > :07:29.These

:07:29. > :07:29.These children

:07:29. > :07:38.These children have

:07:38. > :07:43.lives of their parents in Cardiff. Adoption isn't child's play. I think

:07:43. > :07:49.we were quite fortunate in some ways because it took us nine months both

:07:49. > :07:59.times before we were approved to adopt. The process itself is quite

:07:59. > :08:04.difficult. You feel as though strangers are running your lives,

:08:04. > :08:08.asking you personal questions and asking you to fill out a lot of

:08:08. > :08:13.forms. You appreciate that social workers have an important role to

:08:13. > :08:21.carry out that sometimes you do have to question whether the process has

:08:21. > :08:27.to be so long and arduous. They are talking about speeding up the

:08:27. > :08:36.process but they need to make sure that doesn't happen at the cost of

:08:36. > :08:40.having to find an appropriate family for a child. There are children on

:08:40. > :08:49.the waiting list to be adopted. Our children, even though they had been

:08:49. > :08:52.with foster parents from the time they were born, it still took nine

:08:52. > :08:58.months for them to make their way through the system so they could be

:08:58. > :09:07.released for adoption. The longer children have to sit in the

:09:07. > :09:11.fostering system, the harder it is for them to be adopted. People want

:09:12. > :09:21.to adopt children as young as possible. How have adoption changed

:09:22. > :09:26.your life? It has totally changed our lives. It is hard to remember

:09:26. > :09:36.life before them. I don't know what we did with ourselves before we had

:09:36. > :09:44.them! It is hard to believe how much it has transformed our lives. We

:09:44. > :09:50.have never had so little sleep but From next year,

:09:50. > :09:53.The minister for natural resources, Alun Davies, has praised the

:09:53. > :09:54.company for using renewable energy.

:09:55. > :10:05.Mynydd Bwllfa near Hirwaun will exclusively supply BT.

:10:05. > :10:07.The people of Carmarthen have raised 40,000

:10:07. > :10:10.more than the target amount towards the National Eisteddfod, will be

:10:10. > :10:11.hosted in the county this year.

:10:11. > :10:14.The chair of the work committee Gethin Thomas added local committees

:10:14. > :10:16.had raised 360,000 in 16 months.

:10:16. > :10:19.Money for the festival at the Millennium Coastal Park in

:10:19. > :10:24.Llanelli is still being collected.

:10:25. > :10:27.To sport and Wales face the Netherlands in Amsterdam tonight.

:10:27. > :10:29.Manager Chris Coleman will be without two

:10:29. > :10:33.of his star players - Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey - but says he is

:10:33. > :10:36.still confident that it won't be a one-sided game against the home

:10:36. > :10:38.side preparing for the World Cup.

:10:38. > :10:44.The game is live tonight here on S4C.

:10:44. > :10:46.Glamorgan had to content themselves with a draw against Essex

:10:46. > :11:01.as rain stopped play.

:11:01. > :11:04.Former sprinter Christine Williams from Aberdare has been selected to

:11:04. > :11:06.represent Wales in weightlifting just one year after

:11:06. > :11:09.she started training for the sport.

:11:09. > :11:12.She will compete in the same category as her trainer,

:11:12. > :11:15.two-time gold medal winner Michaela Breeze, in Glasgow.

:11:15. > :11:22.She says she knows how to approach her first competition.

:11:22. > :11:24.Just go there and do my best.

:11:25. > :11:29.Try and concentrate on what I'm doing and not get carried away with

:11:29. > :11:33.the atmosphere and sidetracked.

:11:33. > :11:42.Just be straight minded and just do what it is I do.

:11:42. > :11:43.That's all from Wednesday's Newyddion.
