:00:00. > :00:00.temperatures on Wednesday in London and Paris. More on that for weather

:00:00. > :00:09.for the week ahead coming up. Hello, I'm Ros Atkins,

:00:10. > :00:11.this is Outside Source. Let's look at some

:00:12. > :00:13.of our main stories. President Obama's been

:00:14. > :00:15.talking about the fight against Islamic State -

:00:16. > :00:25.and the need for progress The point is that Isil leaders

:00:26. > :00:27.cannot hide and our next message is simple. You are next.

:00:28. > :00:30.If security is one of the concerns that Americans want President Obama

:00:31. > :00:32.to address, Angela Merkel's been facing up to concerns

:00:33. > :00:39.In a major speech, she's said Germany helped to avert

:00:40. > :00:49.But she also said she'll reduce the numbers

:00:50. > :00:53.In a moment we'll talk about Nurofen.

:00:54. > :00:55.An Australian court has banned some types of it because the packages

:00:56. > :01:01.claims the products are different when in fact they are the same.

:01:02. > :01:03.And in OS Sport we'll update you on Leicester-Chelsea

:01:04. > :01:05.in the Premier League, plus run through the draw

:01:06. > :01:10.for the knock out stage of the Champions League.

:01:11. > :01:27.It is 2-0 to Leicester at the moment.

:01:28. > :01:31.Some Nurofen products have been banned from shops in Australia.

:01:32. > :01:35.The court that made the ruling said that "specific pain" products -

:01:36. > :01:42.those which claim to target problems like migraines and back pain -

:01:43. > :01:49.They all contain the same active ingredient, 342mg

:01:50. > :02:00.Here's a statement from the watchdog that took this to court.

:02:01. > :02:07.You really need to be truthful in your advertising. Consumers rely on

:02:08. > :02:11.what you tell them, consumers are sceptical to a point. But when you

:02:12. > :02:16.tell them something as specific as this just deals with one form of

:02:17. > :02:21.pain, when it doesn't, it is just like any other pain relief tablet,

:02:22. > :02:25.it causes concern to us. We are very hopeful these sorts of actions send

:02:26. > :02:27.a message to companies, do not mislead consumers.

:02:28. > :02:39.Reckitt Benckiser is the company that makes Nurofen.

:02:40. > :02:42.A Spokesperson said the company had not set out to mislead consumers.

:02:43. > :02:44.We encourage choice and our packs are designed

:02:45. > :02:46.to encourage consumer navigation in the grocery store.

:02:47. > :02:48.Don't know about you, but I looked at this story

:02:49. > :02:50.and thought, right or wrong, isn't exactly the same thing

:02:51. > :02:54.We asked Michelle Roberts from the BBC News website to come

:02:55. > :03:03.This is something you could buy in the UK. They are targeted towards

:03:04. > :03:08.different diseases, as we head. Migraines, tension headaches, back

:03:09. > :03:13.pain, period pain. But they all contain the same formulation, the

:03:14. > :03:16.same generic drug, ibuprofen, and another product in there which helps

:03:17. > :03:20.to release into the body quicker than just on its own. Let me be

:03:21. > :03:23.clear, is the company saying, we accept these products are the same,

:03:24. > :03:27.but we reserve the right to brand them differently, or are they

:03:28. > :03:30.claiming they are They know they are interchangeable and they work in the

:03:31. > :03:34.same way in the body. Medicines come in that sense, are not

:03:35. > :03:41.discriminatory. They will work on pain and inflammation. What the

:03:42. > :03:47.company have said is that they wanted to help signpost patience. If

:03:48. > :03:50.you're trying to find something and works well for you, you might not

:03:51. > :03:55.have the time to read all of the product information. The UK experts

:03:56. > :03:58.I have spoken to said it was really important, as consumers, that we

:03:59. > :04:03.look at the back of the packet, we know what are taking. That way, we

:04:04. > :04:06.can exercise choice. We can buy something that might be slightly

:04:07. > :04:12.cheaper, a generic form of the same drug. Isn't one of the other issues

:04:13. > :04:17.in Australia that some of these products aimed at one pain or

:04:18. > :04:21.another can be more expensive than standard products? It is the same

:04:22. > :04:26.with many different medicines. You can get brand drugs, but also a

:04:27. > :04:32.generic copy, which is exactly the same active ingredient, but under a

:04:33. > :04:36.different name. If you know that, as a consumer, you can start to decide

:04:37. > :04:41.which ones you want to buy, which one suits you. It's always

:04:42. > :04:46.interesting, how many of us by branded versions, when you can get

:04:47. > :04:50.unbranded for much less. No doubt psychologists can explain that one.

:04:51. > :04:53.Let's bring you the latest sport. First, the Champions League. We had

:04:54. > :05:00.the draw for the last 16. Olly Foster can run us through. You don't

:05:01. > :05:04.get any duff games at this stage? You don't, we have had three months

:05:05. > :05:09.of group matches, and it has been whittled down to the last 16. It

:05:10. > :05:15.gets serious now, those matches coming up in February. Ten different

:05:16. > :05:18.nations in the last 16. A real mix from around Europe. Three English

:05:19. > :05:20.sides, three Spanish. The one that jumps out is Arsenal against

:05:21. > :05:38.Barcelona. Juventus with the runners-up last

:05:39. > :05:40.year, they have got Bayern Munich. Roma are against Real Madrid.

:05:41. > :05:49.Manchester City have not fared well in this competition, but they've got

:05:50. > :05:54.a fairly easy tie, away to Gina -- Dynamo Kyiv.

:05:55. > :06:01.It is going to get serious, it all kicks off in February, those

:06:02. > :06:05.matches. Chelsea have got to worry about PSG in a little while, first

:06:06. > :06:10.they have to worry about... Have they lost yet? 15 minutes away from

:06:11. > :06:13.it. The English champions, one point above the relegation zone. A couple

:06:14. > :06:18.of weeks ago I was explaining exactly why Leicester were going to

:06:19. > :06:31.death and drop like a stone, because the fixtures were going to get hard.

:06:32. > :06:34.-- Mahrez. They are actually winning 2-1 now. Loic Remy has scored for

:06:35. > :06:42.Chelsea. But Leicester are still leading. Jamie Vardy with his 15th

:06:43. > :06:48.of the season. Mahrez with his 10th of the season. 2-1 to Leicester.

:06:49. > :06:52.They would go two points clear. What would I know? They are not dropping

:06:53. > :06:58.like a stone at all. Chelsea, we talked about that match against PSG,

:06:59. > :07:00.big questions are going to be asked, whether Jose Mourinho will still be

:07:01. > :07:10.in charge in three months' time. We appreciate it, there is Olly

:07:11. > :07:13.Foster, live. What I also wanted to mention was the rugby.

:07:14. > :07:16.The new England Rugby coach Eddie Jones has begun

:07:17. > :07:18.overhauling his England backroom team by getting rid of Mike Catt,

:07:19. > :07:35.Their replacements haven't been named.

:07:36. > :07:42.All of those confirmed in the coaching setup, they have lost their

:07:43. > :07:45.jobs. Details of a strange

:07:46. > :07:47.story in a moment. You might have heard reports

:07:48. > :07:50.about a teacher in France getting stabbed by somebody

:07:51. > :07:53.shouting "Islamic State". It turns out that did not really

:07:54. > :07:59.happen. Kaymer A British man has been convicted

:08:00. > :08:04.Kaymer of preparing to carry out a knife attack on the streets

:08:05. > :08:06.of London after being inspired 22 year old Nadir Syed

:08:07. > :08:10.from South-all was arrested just days before Remembrance Sunday last

:08:11. > :08:11.year. The court was told he'd expressed

:08:12. > :08:14.admiration for the killers of the soldier Lee Rigby

:08:15. > :08:16.who was murdered outside Our Home Affairs Correspondent

:08:17. > :08:21.Daniel Sandford reports. Buying a huge knife to carry out

:08:22. > :08:25.a beheading here in Britain. Nadir Syed, just hours

:08:26. > :08:27.before he was arrested The knife he bought,

:08:28. > :08:34.identical to this, had a blade eight inches long and it was to

:08:35. > :08:36.be used in an attack Today, we can report that Nadir Syed

:08:37. > :08:43.has been found guilty of preparing Just days before his arrest,

:08:44. > :08:52.he had filmed himself It was all in the

:08:53. > :08:59.build-up to the annual The prosecution said that

:09:00. > :09:09.that was not a coincidence. Seven weeks before his arrest,

:09:10. > :09:13.this Islamic State spokesman had called on supporters

:09:14. > :09:18.to launch attacks worldwide, to single out the disbelieving

:09:19. > :09:20.American, Frenchman or any of their allies, he said in a fatwa,

:09:21. > :09:24.smash his head with a rock Prior to it, Islamic

:09:25. > :09:30.State violence was After the fatwa, the

:09:31. > :09:40.violence spread globally. Australia, all the way to the US and

:09:41. > :09:42.Europe. Inspired by the Islamic State

:09:43. > :09:44.fatwa and obsessed with violent images of fighting

:09:45. > :09:52.and beheadings in Syria, Nadir Syed chatted admiringly

:09:53. > :09:54.about those who had killed Drummer Lee Rigby on highly

:09:55. > :09:58.encrypted social media apps. He had run-ins with the police

:09:59. > :10:00.before, but it was his purchase of a large knife that led

:10:01. > :10:03.to the hurried arrest. Unemployed Nadir Syed was stopped

:10:04. > :10:06.at the airport trying to get The jury considered his

:10:07. > :10:11.case for more than 50 hours before deciding he had

:10:12. > :10:13.been planning to behead, in Britain, on behalf

:10:14. > :10:38.of Islamic State. This is Outside Source live

:10:39. > :10:44.from the BBC newsroom. Our lead story is that

:10:45. > :10:46.President Obama has said that US forces are hitting the Islamic State

:10:47. > :10:49.group harder than ever, but he admitted the battle remained

:10:50. > :10:51.difficult and progress needed If you're watching outside the UK,

:10:52. > :10:58.World News America is next. They'll be live in Baltimore

:10:59. > :11:02.for the very latest on the trial of the man accused of killing

:11:03. > :11:06.the unarmed black man, And over on the News at 10

:11:07. > :11:16.there's a special report from Rupert Wingfield Hayes,

:11:17. > :11:20.who's gained access to one of the most contested

:11:21. > :11:22.areas in the world - the Spratly Island's

:11:23. > :11:24.in the South China Sea. A jury has begun deliberations

:11:25. > :11:27.in Baltimore, in the first of a string of trials

:11:28. > :11:29.against officers involved He's the 25-year-old black man

:11:30. > :11:37.who died while in police custody earlier this year,

:11:38. > :11:40.sparking a wave of riots and fuelling the Black Lives Matter

:11:41. > :11:47.movement. That hashtag that many of you will

:11:48. > :11:51.have seen came from his death. BBC's Rajini Vaidyanathan

:11:52. > :11:58.is in Baltimore. I've given some of the basic

:11:59. > :12:02.details, but give us more on the death of Freddie Grey and the

:12:03. > :12:06.circumstances around it? Well, this is the first trial of six officers

:12:07. > :12:11.who have been charged in connection with the death of Freddie Grey. Now,

:12:12. > :12:22.Officer William Halter has been on trial here. It centres on what

:12:23. > :12:25.happened after he was arrested. He was transported in a police van. The

:12:26. > :12:29.case centres on what happened when Freddie Gray was in the police van.

:12:30. > :12:30.He was handcuffed and he was shackled. At some

:12:31. > :12:39.journey, he suffered severe spinal injuries, which ended up being what

:12:40. > :12:44.caused Freddie Gray's death a week later. The prosecution argues

:12:45. > :12:50.although the officer was not driving a van, he was in the van and he

:12:51. > :12:57.could have done more to save Freddie Gray's lie. In the trial, the

:12:58. > :13:05.prosecution ended the arguments saying all it would have taken is

:13:06. > :13:08.using a seat belt in the van. In the defence, they say there is no

:13:09. > :13:12.evidence that William Porter's actions caused Freddie Gray's death.

:13:13. > :13:15.William Porter talked to the stand for the trial and said he didn't

:13:16. > :13:20.realise Freddie Gray was actually injured until the final stop, which

:13:21. > :13:26.is why he did not call for any help. I'm seeing some of the comments from

:13:27. > :13:31.the judge. It must have been hard to select a jury. The Black Lives

:13:32. > :13:36.Matter hashtag, the campaigns around the phrase that grew in the States,

:13:37. > :13:42.it went well beyond the city? That is right. A few months ago there was

:13:43. > :13:46.a push to hold the trial outside of Baltimore. I was here at the

:13:47. > :13:48.beginning of the trial. A lot of people here were saying it was very

:13:49. > :13:53.difficult for the jury to be selected. It is nearly impossible

:13:54. > :13:57.for people here not to have come into contact with what happened,

:13:58. > :14:01.because so much of the city was affected by those protests in April

:14:02. > :14:07.of this year. Of course, much of the city, and I was here at the time,

:14:08. > :14:11.was even under curfew because the protests escalated quite violently

:14:12. > :14:15.at one point. It is not just what has happened here, I was over where

:14:16. > :14:19.Freddie Gray was arrested, where he lived, earlier today. A lot of

:14:20. > :14:24.people there were saying some of the issues between young black people

:14:25. > :14:29.and the police persist. People in that area are hoping there will be

:14:30. > :14:33.convictions. It is a high bar. The jury has to find, the judge says,

:14:34. > :14:38.that William Porter acted in a grossly Nederland man and there was

:14:39. > :14:45.a high degree of belief that he acted with an evil motive or in bad

:14:46. > :14:49.faith. -- a grossly negligent manner. They expect the trial to end

:14:50. > :14:53.by this Thursday, but they will take as long as they need in what is a

:14:54. > :14:55.very complex and highly contentious trial in Baltimore. Thank you for

:14:56. > :14:58.that update. One of China's most prominent human

:14:59. > :15:01.rights lawyers has gone He's accused of "inciting

:15:02. > :15:07.ethnic hatred". There were scuffles

:15:08. > :15:09.outside the courtroom. He was not just tweeting, he was

:15:10. > :15:33.also filming. You can see the journalists be moved

:15:34. > :15:38.away from the front of the court. There is huge interest

:15:39. > :15:42.in this trial. We have seen a number

:15:43. > :15:47.of representatives of the European Asking to witness the trial that

:15:48. > :16:05.many see as a symbol of this The ability of lawyers, like the one

:16:06. > :16:10.on trial today, one of the country's best-known defenders of human

:16:11. > :16:21.rights, the freedom of people to speak out. He is on trial for a

:16:22. > :16:29.number of tweets he sent, poking fun at the government, asking a question

:16:30. > :16:33.as to whether the harsh crackdown is in some way responsible for the

:16:34. > :16:38.violence. A lot of people, a lot of independent observers are suggesting

:16:39. > :16:41.that the content of those tweets are nothing more than commentary, the

:16:42. > :16:46.kind of thing you would expect in any system. People asking questions.

:16:47. > :16:51.The party authorities here have seen it as serious enough to put him on

:16:52. > :16:55.trial. The charges on which he stands could get him eight years in

:16:56. > :17:02.prison. Observers we have spoken to suggest that there is very, very

:17:03. > :17:07.little chance, if any, of an acquittal.

:17:08. > :17:09.Very strange story from near Paris today.

:17:10. > :17:11.You may have heard earlier about a teacher who claimed

:17:12. > :17:16.he was stabbed in his classroom by an Islamic State supporter.

:17:17. > :17:18.Several hours later we started hearing that he'd made up a lot

:17:19. > :17:28.We asked High Schofield to tell us more.

:17:29. > :17:35.It is an interesting and troubling story that broke earlier today,

:17:36. > :17:40.which was taken very seriously indeed by the security services and

:17:41. > :17:43.the government. A teacher at a kindergarten set up a school this

:17:44. > :17:46.morning, when he was preparing for his day, he was interrupted by a man

:17:47. > :17:52.bursting into his classroom in white paint is overalls, grabbing a box

:17:53. > :17:57.cutter and a pair of scissors, and stabbed him. The key point,

:17:58. > :18:01.according to this teacher, he was shouting this is for Daesh, Islamic

:18:02. > :18:06.State, it is a warning, there will be more, and then he disappeared.

:18:07. > :18:09.The teacher called the police and was hospitalised. It was taken

:18:10. > :18:18.seriously, to the point that the education minister visited the scene

:18:19. > :18:25.shortly afterwards. Police called on a big manhunt. The anti-terrorist

:18:26. > :18:30.branch of the judicial police took charge. I don't think anybody

:18:31. > :18:34.thought it was something that was ordered by Islamic State, but maybe

:18:35. > :18:40.something inspired by Daesh, maybe age arranged person who thought he

:18:41. > :18:43.was acting on behalf of them. -- a deranged person. Then just an hour

:18:44. > :18:47.ago it becomes clear it is all a figment of this poor teacher's

:18:48. > :18:51.imagination. Under questioning he has admitted he made it up. Clearly,

:18:52. > :18:56.the wounds he had were self-inflicted. So, the story ends,

:18:57. > :19:00.there was no attack, but it does show that in this city, a month

:19:01. > :19:06.after the attacks, there is still an atmosphere of great febrile

:19:07. > :19:11.jumpiness, nervousness and this is one manifestation.

:19:12. > :19:16.We finish with an interview with Tina Fey - many

:19:17. > :19:18.of you will know her - for those who don't,

:19:19. > :19:22.actor, comedian, she's created the hugely successful 30 Rock TV

:19:23. > :19:25.series, she was a mainstay of Saturday Night Live for years,

:19:26. > :19:29.Well, she has a new film out - it's called Sisters.

:19:30. > :19:31.Louise Minchin's been talking to her.

:19:32. > :19:36.Have a fabulous, fun film. It is centred around sisters, obviously.

:19:37. > :19:41.You don't have a sister, is it based on anybody in particular? Yes,

:19:42. > :19:46.neither of us have a sister in real life. We are chosen sisters. It is

:19:47. > :19:50.based on a woman who wrote the film, it is based edit on her relationship

:19:51. > :19:54.with her own sister, they were opposites growing up. It is based on

:19:55. > :20:00.a little bit on her diaries, which she found from when she was 13, 14,

:20:01. > :20:05.15. Paula's diaries were heartbreakingly square. The entries

:20:06. > :20:13.were about, you know, I changed the grit in my rock tumbler and my

:20:14. > :20:19.amethyst is coming along. Her sister is, I made out with Shane, he gave

:20:20. > :20:25.me a love bite I was trying to hide. They sold our childhood home! This

:20:26. > :20:29.should have been passed on! You are best mates? We are best friends and

:20:30. > :20:34.we have known each other for 20 years. Onset, it has to be easier

:20:35. > :20:38.and more fun? It is definitely easier, if you have to have a mud

:20:39. > :20:42.fight, get into a bathtub with each other, much easier. If you have

:20:43. > :20:49.already done those things in real life! I heard you are having a

:20:50. > :20:56.party, from someone that got invited. That is a snazzy belt.

:20:57. > :21:00.Congratulations on your wrestling Championship. There seems to be

:21:01. > :21:04.women doing extremely well in comedy and leading movies now, is there a

:21:05. > :21:08.change of front? You know, we have been doing all of this press for the

:21:09. > :21:12.movie, and everybody says it is a moment in time now for women in,

:21:13. > :21:18.the. I go, OK, I guess so. I hope so. -- women in comet. We have all

:21:19. > :21:24.been at it for a long time. I have known all of these women for a long

:21:25. > :21:33.time. I guess the nice change is that feature films are making

:21:34. > :21:38.money,, and that is all they care about in Hollywood, it makes money,

:21:39. > :21:42.you can do another one. You've done fantastic political comedy, tell us

:21:43. > :21:47.about your take on Donald Trump? Amy and I are going to host Saturday

:21:48. > :21:50.Night Live together next week, for the Christmas show. I wish I

:21:51. > :21:55.resembled him. I only get to play people when I weirdly look like

:21:56. > :21:58.them. But there is a guy who is on Saturday Night Live right now who

:21:59. > :22:05.plays him. It is almost like too much to choose from. He is just

:22:06. > :22:10.mental. What you think about what he says about women? He talks about how
