:00:12. > :00:19.The top story. Today, children were tear-gassed at a European border

:00:20. > :00:28.after migrants smashed through the border fence between Macedonia and

:00:29. > :00:35.Greece. There is no room, no tent for the people. There is trouble in

:00:36. > :00:41.Calais, French authorities have demolished part of the jungle

:00:42. > :00:44.migrant camp. We will be live in Washington to get the latest on the

:00:45. > :00:48.Republican and Democratic contest for the presidential nomination. No

:00:49. > :00:54.doubt Donald Trump will feature heavily in that conversation.

:00:55. > :00:58.Astronaut Scott Kelly is about to return to Earth after a year in

:00:59. > :01:02.space and we will have a look at his best photographs. We will also find

:01:03. > :01:04.out why scientists are getting so excited about a blind Slovenian

:01:05. > :01:26.salamander. Let's get more now on our top story.

:01:27. > :01:35.Frustrations boiled over for some of the thousands of migrants captain --

:01:36. > :01:40.trapped in camps on the European borders. Migrants are trying to get

:01:41. > :01:44.to northern Europe heading up to Germany but Austria has put a cap on

:01:45. > :01:48.migrant numbers so that means many states further down are also

:01:49. > :01:54.limiting the number of people they allow through. You can see the

:01:55. > :02:05.effect that this is having in a camp on the Macedonian Greek border.

:02:06. > :02:20.Idomeni was built for 1500 refugees, it has many, many more.

:02:21. > :02:22.This is how it looks on Greece's border with Macedonia.

:02:23. > :02:25.After a night out in the open, children join a long line

:02:26. > :02:27.with their parents, waiting for food.

:02:28. > :02:31.At the end of the line they get a bag of bread to last the day.

:02:32. > :02:33.Babies bottles are held up, hoping to be filled.

:02:34. > :02:37.Macedonia only allows a handful to cross the border every day,

:02:38. > :02:41.You have to wait for a long time for food, toilets, everywhere.

:02:42. > :02:47.Hundreds of them have decided to force open the gate.

:02:48. > :02:50.This is the result of the tension that has been building

:02:51. > :03:00.As they push at the border, the crush begins to take its toll.

:03:01. > :03:02.This is how it looked on the Macedonian side

:03:03. > :03:10.Suddenly, the border is breached, triggering panic among the police.

:03:11. > :03:15.A guard fires tear gas directly at the migrants.

:03:16. > :03:19.On the other side of the fence, the man in the blue jacket is hit

:03:20. > :03:29.Cue panic, as tear gas explodes all around them.

:03:30. > :03:33.Men, women, and children run for safety.

:03:34. > :03:37.A boy staggers from the crush, retching from the gas.

:03:38. > :03:42.Others are too dazed to stand, their eyes and lungs burning.

:03:43. > :03:48.Today, on a European border, children were tear-gassed.

:03:49. > :03:51.It is quite a while since the tear gas was fired but you can

:03:52. > :03:54.still smell it and taste it in the air as well.

:03:55. > :03:57.So, this stand-off continues, with several hundred people

:03:58. > :04:03.The violence will continue as well if the numbers here keep growing

:04:04. > :04:11.Those who have worked here for months say it has never

:04:12. > :04:17.They are worried the border will not open at all.

:04:18. > :04:20.They saw how quickly restrictions were implemented for the Afghanis.

:04:21. > :04:23.There is a real sense among Syrians and Iraqis that at any

:04:24. > :04:30.where tear-gassed wafted earlier, families set up camp.

:04:31. > :04:34.There is growing desperation on this European frontier.

:04:35. > :04:45.Danny Savage, BBC News, at the Greece-Macedonia border.

:04:46. > :04:52.Let's have a look at this port and get reaction to what was another big

:04:53. > :04:57.weekend in the English Premier League. We can go to the BBC sports

:04:58. > :05:04.Centre. Sarah Walton is there. It is hard to predict who will win this

:05:05. > :05:05.season. Yes, it is. Manchester United

:05:06. > :05:24.continued their return to form. Marcus Rashford scored on his debut

:05:25. > :05:29.to the Premier League. Some of the big-name players appeared to freeze

:05:30. > :05:35.at such an important match. Down in London, they're right. None managed

:05:36. > :05:45.to come from a goal down to scored twice against Swansea city at the

:05:46. > :05:49.end of the second half -- Tottenham. Leicester are a team on an

:05:50. > :05:55.impressive run. They took Norwich who had not won in six matches, but

:05:56. > :06:01.they almost left it to the last minute to score. Leonardo Ulloa

:06:02. > :06:06.scoring. Both Leicester and Tottenham scoring at the end of

:06:07. > :06:13.matches. That is an attitude that could decide the title battle. It is

:06:14. > :06:17.very tight between the top three. Arsenal slip into third after their

:06:18. > :06:22.loss to Manchester United. Manchester City won the League Cup.

:06:23. > :06:32.Now looking ahead to this week's matches. Leicester City are facing

:06:33. > :06:37.West Bromwich Albion. If Leicester lose it could get interesting for

:06:38. > :06:43.Tottenham if they beat West Ham away on Wednesday. West Ham or the run of

:06:44. > :06:50.13 unbeaten home games. Arsenal face a must win match at home to Swansea

:06:51. > :06:53.also on Wednesday. Liverpool will be looking for revenge on Manchester

:06:54. > :06:58.City three days after they beat them in that cup final.

:06:59. > :07:02.Thank you. We will continue with football. The Manchester boss Louis

:07:03. > :07:07.van Gaal took a bizarre fall as part of an argument with the fourth

:07:08. > :07:11.official. The Dutchman rarely leaves his seat in the dugout during

:07:12. > :07:19.matches but this time he decided to talk to one of the officials. Let's

:07:20. > :07:23.have a look. We have had our comedy moment of the

:07:24. > :07:28.season, Louis van Gaal, who never comes out to the technical area,

:07:29. > :07:35.comes out to have a word with the official. Clipboards still in hand,

:07:36. > :07:42.that is brilliant. Louis van Gaal fell over onto his backside.

:07:43. > :07:48.Normally I do not do that. It is not good for the referee. I apologise

:07:49. > :07:53.after the game and everything is resolved. That is something we never

:07:54. > :08:20.thought we would see. It will be talked about for ages.

:08:21. > :08:26.Back on his bike again. Lee Armstrong first competed in the

:08:27. > :08:33.national Championship in 1966. This time saw him go more slowly, not

:08:34. > :08:39.above 100 kilometres an hour. He built his first bike in his own

:08:40. > :08:43.repair shop and he has never looked back, even bringing his wife along

:08:44. > :08:51.as mechanic. He says it is all about speed. TRANSLATION: I started in

:08:52. > :08:58.about 1947 on bikes I built myself. I have driven on grass tracks,

:08:59. > :09:04.Speedway and ice racing and I think I is racing is the most fun. The

:09:05. > :09:12.sport uses steel wheels with razor sharp spikes. Ollie described the

:09:13. > :09:16.sport is very enjoyable. He says he hopes to still be driving when he

:09:17. > :09:23.reaches 100. An amazing man! In a few minutes we

:09:24. > :09:27.will be talking about this odd looking creature. It lives in a cave

:09:28. > :09:36.in Slovenia and lays eggs once or twice a decade. That has happened

:09:37. > :09:41.and scientists are very excited. There is such a shortage of doctors

:09:42. > :09:44.and nurses in the UK. Two thirds of health trusts and boards are

:09:45. > :09:48.actively trying to recruit from abroad as they struggle to cope with

:09:49. > :09:52.the shortage of qualified staff. Figures obtained by the BBC have

:09:53. > :09:57.revealed that tens of thousands of NHS posts have still to be fields.

:09:58. > :10:30.That is something of a crisis. -- still to be filled.

:10:31. > :10:42.Many hospitals are struggling to find staff to fill jobs. A BBC

:10:43. > :10:47.Freedom of Information request found 69% of trusts are recruiting abroad.

:10:48. > :10:51.There are more than 23,000 nursing vacancies in England, Wales and

:10:52. > :10:57.Northern Ireland. That is 9% of the workforce. More than 6000 Doctor

:10:58. > :11:05.posts were also vacant. Figures for Scotland were not available. The

:11:06. > :11:09.Department of Health in England and the Welsh Government both say more

:11:10. > :11:15.doctors and nurses are now working for the NHS. The doctors union the

:11:16. > :11:20.BMA says services like A are struggling to recruit. It has an

:11:21. > :11:24.immediate impact when we cannot recruit people properly to work in

:11:25. > :11:30.such departments because the investment in them has deteriorated

:11:31. > :11:35.over the last three years. Meanwhile, this doctor is hard at

:11:36. > :11:44.work in Romford in Essex. She was trained in Romania. The NHS offers

:11:45. > :11:50.some distinct advantages. I do want to specialise here for the next few

:11:51. > :11:56.years. For decades, highly trained doctors like Dr Baca come from

:11:57. > :12:01.abroad to work in the NHS. But a shortage of trained staff in the UK

:12:02. > :12:02.means overseas medics are becoming an increasingly popular solution to

:12:03. > :12:19.home-grown recruitment crisis. This is Outside Source live from the

:12:20. > :12:23.BBC newsroom. Children are tear-gassed as a group of migrants

:12:24. > :12:27.smashed through the border between Macedonia and Greece. They were

:12:28. > :12:31.being blocked from continuing their journey to northern Europe.

:12:32. > :12:36.What you see next depends on where you are watching. Around the world,

:12:37. > :12:40.it is world News America next. They are reporting on one of the most

:12:41. > :12:47.powerful figures in the Vatican. He is giving a second day of testimony

:12:48. > :12:49.to an Australian commission on child abuse.

:12:50. > :12:52.The News at Ten is next in the UK. It reports a million jobs could

:12:53. > :12:58.disappear in the retail sector over the next decade because of the move

:12:59. > :13:02.to online shopping. Tomorrow is a big day for the

:13:03. > :13:07.candidates most likely to follow Barack Obama to the White House.

:13:08. > :13:10.Super Tuesday is when 11 states hold their presidential nomination

:13:11. > :13:14.contest. For the Republicans, favourite Donald Trump is in the

:13:15. > :13:19.lead and taking a lot of fire including from the Republican

:13:20. > :13:21.establishment. The latest controversy, the apparent failure of

:13:22. > :13:27.the billionaire businessmen to swiftly denounced the support of a

:13:28. > :13:42.white supremacist, a Ku Klux Klan leader.

:13:43. > :13:55.This has come in in the last few hours.

:13:56. > :14:03.Mr Trump said he disavow the endorsement. He has also posted a

:14:04. > :14:14.quote on Twitter from Mahatma Gandhi. Let's see what is happening.

:14:15. > :14:25.Catty key is in Washington for us. Do you think Donald Trump is rattled

:14:26. > :14:32.by the insults? -- Katty Kay. It is hard to know. He is getting it from

:14:33. > :14:36.all angles, from Republicans, Democrats, even Republicans who have

:14:37. > :14:41.supported him up until now. Today, for the first time, a Republican

:14:42. > :14:47.senator has said if Donald Trump is the nominee he will not be voting

:14:48. > :14:51.for him. That is very unusual. I have never heard a senator come out

:14:52. > :14:56.and say they will not vote for the nominee of their party. He is under

:14:57. > :15:00.pressure today and I think it is this failure of his over the weekend

:15:01. > :15:05.to very clearly repudiates the Ku Klux Klan. They are the antithesis

:15:06. > :15:14.of everything America wants to stand for today. Is he going to apologise?

:15:15. > :15:22.No. Is he going to keep saying he will win? Yes. If he rattled?

:15:23. > :15:28.Possibly. Rattled but not toppled. Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz, do they

:15:29. > :15:31.have a chance of taking over? Marco Rubio attacked Donald Trump for the

:15:32. > :15:35.first time in the debate last Tuesday night. He has carried on

:15:36. > :15:40.doing so over the weekend. This campaign race sounds like it has

:15:41. > :15:43.degenerated into something my ten-year-old is probably too old

:15:44. > :15:51.for. It sounds like a kindergarten brawl at the moment on the campaign

:15:52. > :15:58.trail. Rubio like his loving punching the bully in the nose. It

:15:59. > :16:05.has not done much for his opinion poll ratings. Donald Trump is the

:16:06. > :16:09.front runner in many states and it would be pretty amazing if we come

:16:10. > :16:14.out of super Tuesday and Donald Trump is not the clear nominee for

:16:15. > :16:19.the US presidency. I guess the problem is, there was a grass in the

:16:20. > :16:23.Washington Post a few hours ago showing that when they delved down

:16:24. > :16:28.to insults, when they use the playground rhetoric, we all cover it

:16:29. > :16:33.and they get more publicity? Not that we haven't covered Donald Trump

:16:34. > :16:38.all along, right? Ever since he announced last June, I think we have

:16:39. > :16:42.given him plenty of free exposure which is why he has not had to spend

:16:43. > :16:48.much of his own money on television advertising. I think he gets 20

:16:49. > :16:56.times more exposure on US television than other candidates. They are

:16:57. > :17:00.cover a ball, this matters. Whoever is the next president of the United

:17:01. > :17:08.States is a hugely critical decision and you have to give whoever is the

:17:09. > :17:11.nominee for the republican or the Democrats a pretty good chance of

:17:12. > :17:18.winning. On the Democrats' side, Hillary Clinton is looking more

:17:19. > :17:23.confident now. Is she right to? I think Nevada was a turning point.

:17:24. > :17:38.There she went and won South Carolina. The dumps seems to be

:17:39. > :17:44.going out of the Bernie Sanders excitement -- the oomph seems to be

:17:45. > :17:53.going out of the Bernie sounders -- Bernie Sanders campaign. Thank you,

:17:54. > :18:00.Katty Kay, we will speak again this week.

:18:01. > :18:05.Donald Trump wants to build a wall along the Mexican border. He wants

:18:06. > :18:09.Mexicans to pay for it. Not surprisingly people do not like the

:18:10. > :18:14.idea and he was heckled at a rally on Monday. People were saying, get

:18:15. > :18:19.them out. We have been thinking about that issue of the wall and

:18:20. > :18:27.Mexico and we have asked some Mexicans what they think.

:18:28. > :18:32.We are going to have our border is nice and strong. Were going to build

:18:33. > :18:43.a wall. Build a wall. Build a wall and Mexico will pay for it, right?

:18:44. > :18:50.A former president said Mexico will not pay for the wall, could we have

:18:51. > :19:05.your comment? I said the wall will get ten feet higher.

:19:06. > :19:28.We have a trade deficit with Mexico. They will pay for the wall.

:19:29. > :19:46.There will be a wall. This is a Trump wall.

:19:47. > :20:03.They beat of the border. Drugs are flowing through.

:20:04. > :20:07.They are going to be thrilled to be paying for the wall.

:20:08. > :20:33.OK, enough Trump. This is a Olm. It is a type of

:20:34. > :20:37.dragon from Slovenia. Hundreds of years ago when they were

:20:38. > :20:42.washed out from the heavy rain, locals saw there and thought, what

:20:43. > :20:48.is this pale skinned creature and they called them baby dragons. They

:20:49. > :20:53.can live up to 100 years and it is very rare that they lay eggs? Only

:20:54. > :20:59.six years or more that they reproduce and it has very rarely

:21:00. > :21:09.been seen in captivity. This is happening in an aquarium in a cave

:21:10. > :21:15.in Slovenia which is a read Daesh -- this is a tourist destination. Does

:21:16. > :21:19.this mean tourists have been filing past the aquarium to watch them

:21:20. > :21:25.hatch? They have to watch it on a screen because the tank has been

:21:26. > :21:34.boarded up to protect the mum from the light. An infrared camera has

:21:35. > :21:41.been set up. So you have to safeguard the eggs from outside

:21:42. > :21:45.interest? They have involved in a very protected environment. They

:21:46. > :21:56.used to clean water, little disturbance. The scientists are very

:21:57. > :22:01.keen to met they hatch and they are keen to observe the process

:22:02. > :22:05.happening. You have written a fascinating article about the Olm

:22:06. > :22:11.online. The mother can tell if the eggs are viable or not and what does

:22:12. > :22:19.she do if they are not? She them. It happened surprisingly a lot in these

:22:20. > :22:25.kind of amphibians -- she eats them. Food is very precious in these caves

:22:26. > :22:28.and these animals can go up to ten years without eating. If they are

:22:29. > :22:32.not developing, she will have a snack.

:22:33. > :22:39.From underground to up there. After spending an entire year in space,

:22:40. > :22:45.astronaut Scott Kelly is returning to Earth tomorrow night. He treated

:22:46. > :22:46.us to some fantastic images of our planet. Here are some of the

:22:47. > :23:42.highlights. Let me tell you, we have been

:23:43. > :24:12.following your Instagram feed down here. It is spectacular.

:24:13. > :24:19.Some gorgeous images. Some of you may be wondering where

:24:20. > :24:27.was is. He has gone to South Africa from where he will be presenting

:24:28. > :24:35.your programme on Tuesday. I will let him explain -- you may wonder

:24:36. > :24:40.where Ros is. Join me from Johannesburg. We will pull together

:24:41. > :24:52.all of the elements of an evolving story. That will happen at the

:24:53. > :25:06.normal Outside Source hours. Thank you very much for watching.

:25:07. > :25:16.Hello. February 2016 was a leap year and there was plenty of sparkle in

:25:17. > :25:19.the weather story to greet us but the sparkle came
