:00:07. > :00:13.Hello, I'm Ros Atkins, this is Outside Source.

:00:14. > :00:18.These brothers have been identified as carrying out the Brussels

:00:19. > :00:23.bombings at the airport and the Metro. We will tell you who they are

:00:24. > :00:28.underlings to the Paris attackers. Earlier, in minute's silence was

:00:29. > :00:34.held across Belgium to remember those who died. We will be live in

:00:35. > :00:37.Brussels shortly. Also we will go to the BBC newsroom in Washington to

:00:38. > :00:41.talk about these two. Further victories mean it's more likely than

:00:42. > :00:47.ever that the next President will be one of them. I'm just as we did

:00:48. > :00:52.yesterday... If you have questions about the ramifications, use this

:00:53. > :01:13.hash tag, I live in the BBC newsroom and I will try and get you answers.

:01:14. > :01:21.After the attack in Brussels, this was the reality today... Huge queues

:01:22. > :01:26.of people, hundreds and hundreds lining up to get onto public

:01:27. > :01:29.transport. This was a station in the centre of town. Huge queues because

:01:30. > :01:33.of the inevitable security checks following the attacks yesterday.

:01:34. > :01:41.Further confirmation of the number of people who lost their lives.

:01:42. > :01:44.These figures assured from the Belgian Health Minister, ten dead at

:01:45. > :01:49.the airport, 21 at the Metro station. 260 people at least

:01:50. > :01:59.injured. We know a large more about the people behind the Brussels

:02:00. > :02:02.attacks. This is Khalid and Ibrahim el-Bakraoui, the suicide bombers at

:02:03. > :02:07.the station and the airport respectively. We know some of the

:02:08. > :02:11.attackers left an apartment in an area of Brussels cold Schaerbeek and

:02:12. > :02:18.they took a taxi to the airport, not long afterwards CCTV caught images

:02:19. > :02:22.of three men in the terminal, we know the man in the middle is one of

:02:23. > :02:27.the brothers, one of the other two is thought to be a man cold mad Jim

:02:28. > :02:32.luck Riley, different media reporting different things. The man

:02:33. > :02:36.right remaining on the run, these two died in the expulsions. These

:02:37. > :02:41.brothers work already being sought by the police. The last few hours,

:02:42. > :02:48.this has come out from the Turkish government. The Turkish President

:02:49. > :02:56.saying one of the Brussels attackers was caught in Turkey in June and

:02:57. > :03:03.deported to Belgium. We understand that his Brahim el-Bakraoui. This is

:03:04. > :03:08.the Interpol website. It's an international policing organisation.

:03:09. > :03:13.Listing the other brother as being wanted on terrorism charges. Both

:03:14. > :03:17.men very much known to be a 30s. There are two other key points that

:03:18. > :03:22.I want to make. Regarding these brothers. You remember this time

:03:23. > :03:28.last week we reported a police raid in the south of Brussels? An area

:03:29. > :03:33.cold Forest. The flat they are that was raided, being rented by one of

:03:34. > :03:42.the brothers. Some people escaped the raid and were not caught, this

:03:43. > :03:47.may have been them. Then... Let's bring in Salah Abdeslam. His

:03:48. > :03:50.fingerprints found on the flat, one of the suspects in the Paris

:03:51. > :03:57.attacks, a direct connection between those involved in Paris and those in

:03:58. > :04:03.Brussels. Here is our European editor.

:04:04. > :04:05.Silence spoke far louder than words in Brussels today.

:04:06. > :04:30.In sadness for the victims of yesterday's bombings.

:04:31. > :04:42.In fear that there will be a next time.

:04:43. > :04:48.And that next time, it could be them.

:04:49. > :04:57.But there is a strong sense here of defiance, too.

:04:58. > :05:02.Long-live Belgium, these people shouted.

:05:03. > :05:08.And on a massive manhunt for all those linked to this,

:05:09. > :05:10.yesterday's devastating bombing at Brussels Airport

:05:11. > :05:23.Police say they are looking for this man.

:05:24. > :05:26.There is confusion about his identity, but it is believed

:05:27. > :05:32.he could have raised the casualties can even higher.

:05:33. > :05:35.he could have raised the casualties count even higher.

:05:36. > :05:36.TRANSLATION: The third suspect, wearing a light-coloured coat

:05:37. > :05:40.and hat is on the run, he left a large bag and departed

:05:41. > :05:44.His bag contained the biggest explosive device.

:05:45. > :05:47.Shortly after the arrival of the bomb disposal unit,

:05:48. > :05:49.the bag was detonated because of the volatility

:05:50. > :06:02.The other two men in this photo were suicide bombers.

:06:03. > :06:04.In the middle, Brahim el-Bakraoui, a Belgian national.

:06:05. > :06:08.Police have found a note in which he writes that he is under

:06:09. > :06:09.pressure and on the run to avoid arrest.

:06:10. > :06:12.Belgian media said he had recently been linked to the Paris

:06:13. > :06:19.This is his brother Khalid, the metro suicide bomber.

:06:20. > :06:26.Today, Belgium's Prime Minister accompanied the country's king

:06:27. > :06:34.and queen to visit some of the 260 injured yesterday.

:06:35. > :06:36.Julian Firkin was one of the lucky ones.

:06:37. > :06:39.He and his girlfriend emerged unscathed, physically at least.

:06:40. > :06:46.The second explosion happened, and at that point I jumped on top

:06:47. > :06:49.of her and grabbed her suitcase and kind of held that over the top

:06:50. > :06:52.of both of us just to protect us from the ceiling,

:06:53. > :07:01.The commotion died down a little bit, but there was lots of screaming

:07:02. > :07:03.and people running around, and then the airport staff came

:07:04. > :07:06.running and screaming and shouting at everyone to get out

:07:07. > :07:15.of the building, evacuate, evacuate, as quickly as you can.

:07:16. > :07:18.This city is still digesting the full horror of yesterday's

:07:19. > :07:21.attacks, but on the surface at least, there is a sense of life

:07:22. > :07:33.It is not that commuters here have forgotten about the attacks one day

:07:34. > :07:37.on, or that they don't care or they are unaware of the warnings

:07:38. > :07:40.But this is a gritty, down-to-earth city.

:07:41. > :07:42.The attitude here it is, life has to go on.

:07:43. > :07:46.People are grateful for the extra security.

:07:47. > :07:57.Maybe it is not in Brussels, maybe it is another country.

:07:58. > :08:04.TRANSLATION: There is a risk, but keeping our jobs mean taking

:08:05. > :08:09.trains, and at least there are more police here now.

:08:10. > :08:12.More police, more soldiers, more security checks at train

:08:13. > :08:17.Most people here tell you they refuse to be scared,

:08:18. > :08:39.Ben Brown has been reporting all day from Brussels. He joins us now. If I

:08:40. > :08:43.compare what was said at the start of today and now, the information

:08:44. > :08:48.ebbing and flowing from the authorities? Yes, it does, we

:08:49. > :08:54.started the day with reports that one of the suspects, Najim

:08:55. > :08:56.Laachraoui had been arrested in the Anderlecht area of the city. Then

:08:57. > :09:05.there was news that he hadn't been arrested. And now, we hear from some

:09:06. > :09:11.sources in Paris and some Belgian news agencies... That actually this

:09:12. > :09:16.man whose name was issued may have been one of the bombers at the

:09:17. > :09:21.airport who blew himself up. One of the suicide bombers. Not on the run

:09:22. > :09:25.at all, but it is clear that one man from the trio of suspects who was

:09:26. > :09:31.seen going into the airport before the taxes on the run and a very

:09:32. > :09:34.wanted man at the moment. But the investigation and the Belgian

:09:35. > :09:41.prosecutor have confirmed that two brothers were central to the attacks

:09:42. > :09:45.yesterday. Khalid and Ibrahim el-Bakraoui, these brothers, one

:09:46. > :09:48.attack the airport and one in the Metro and they seemed to be

:09:49. > :09:51.absolutely central London are all sorts of connections between the

:09:52. > :09:59.attackers who struck with such deadly force yesterday and the

:10:00. > :10:02.attacks in Paris and its clear that the Belgian police, the Belgian

:10:03. > :10:07.authorities, had underestimated the extent of the terror network, living

:10:08. > :10:12.and preparing for attacks in the city. It seems remarkable, they may

:10:13. > :10:17.have underestimated it, since the Paris attacks has been such focus on

:10:18. > :10:25.the one area of Brussels, associated with radical Islam? Yes, areas like

:10:26. > :10:31.Molenbeek, which is worse Salah Abdeslam was from and he was the one

:10:32. > :10:35.that escape the Paris attacks and escaped to Belgium and he was

:10:36. > :10:40.arrested on Friday in the heart of the Molenbeek area of Brussels.

:10:41. > :10:44.Actually, just a few hundred yards from his family home, where he was

:10:45. > :10:49.brought up and that arrest last Friday seems to have been pivotal in

:10:50. > :10:56.what happened on Tuesday. In terms of the attacks. It's clear that

:10:57. > :11:01.Salah Abdeslam was an accomplice of the men who attacked yesterday. And

:11:02. > :11:06.that when they knew he had been arrested, it seems quite likely that

:11:07. > :11:10.they decided that if he was being interrogated by the police and the

:11:11. > :11:14.authorities in custody, he might give the police their names, their

:11:15. > :11:18.addresses, information about their plans and so they decided that

:11:19. > :11:22.perhaps they should go ahead with whatever attacks they had planned

:11:23. > :11:26.and get on with them. We heard from the Belgian prosecutor in his

:11:27. > :11:37.statement today, that one of the suicide bombers, Brahim el-Bakraoui.

:11:38. > :11:41.He left a note, a last will and testament, I do not know what to do,

:11:42. > :11:45.I am in a hurry, people are searching for me everywhere and if I

:11:46. > :11:50.cell. In other words, he did not cell. In other words, he did not

:11:51. > :11:55.want to be captured, he knew then net was closing after the arrest of

:11:56. > :11:58.Salah Abdeslam last Friday and he thought that he would go on was

:11:59. > :12:04.launching an attack. That is that the re-police are working on. Often

:12:05. > :12:08.after attacks like these, the first 24-36 hours or about the grief and

:12:09. > :12:12.mourning those who have been lost but there is a point when these

:12:13. > :12:18.stories become political, I wonder if the country has reached that

:12:19. > :12:23.point? I don't think possibly yet, I still think this is raw, quite

:12:24. > :12:28.frankly. Look at the scene behind becoming you can see people who have

:12:29. > :12:32.come to this square here in the heart of Brussels and this has

:12:33. > :12:36.become a kind of focal point for the grieving, the morning. They are

:12:37. > :12:40.lighting candles, there has been a vigil since yesterday. And

:12:41. > :12:45.throughout the night. They are lighting candles, laying flowers,

:12:46. > :12:50.holding up the Belgian flag, as you can see, behind me, there are

:12:51. > :12:53.banners with slogans like United against hatred and there was in a's

:12:54. > :12:59.silence here earlier today for the victims of the attacks and after

:13:00. > :13:04.that, a lot of applause, singing, chanting and people wanting to say

:13:05. > :13:08.that they won't be beaten by terror. Yes, there are politics and there

:13:09. > :13:12.will be politics, particularly accusations against the Belgian

:13:13. > :13:15.security services, did they fail with their intelligence again after

:13:16. > :13:19.the Paris attacks and now these Brussels attacks? But I think

:13:20. > :13:24.overall, the mood amongst the people is to mourn and grieve but also to

:13:25. > :13:27.show the world and Islamic State that they will not be defeated and

:13:28. > :13:33.they won't live their lives in fear. Thank you. Ben Brown live with us

:13:34. > :13:38.from Brussels and to reiterate what we said earlier... This is not what

:13:39. > :13:43.we were being told a couple of hours ago. Chris Morris, one of our

:13:44. > :13:49.correspondence based in Brussels, to add of the three suspects seen on

:13:50. > :13:53.CCTV remain unidentified, the man on the right is the one who is on the

:13:54. > :13:58.run. Earlier we were told that we knew who to of the men were, now we

:13:59. > :14:02.can say that, only the man in the middle, one of the brothers... We

:14:03. > :14:08.can't be sure who the others are. We will spend most of the hour talking

:14:09. > :14:11.about Brussels but we will take a few minutes to go to Washington

:14:12. > :14:15.later. These two, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, making big strides

:14:16. > :14:22.towards becoming the nominees of the US presidential election.

:14:23. > :14:29.Two British students had been conveyed but of plotting dry by

:14:30. > :14:35.terror attacks in London inspired by the Islamic State group. Suhaib

:14:36. > :14:39.Majeed on the right was convicted of conspiracy to murder and preparation

:14:40. > :14:45.of terrorist acts, the ringleader on the left, Tarik Hassane had pleaded

:14:46. > :14:48.guilty to the same charges. In essence, what both these men were

:14:49. > :14:52.said to have planned to carry out was a drive-by shooting on the

:14:53. > :14:58.streets of West London. Not far from further grew up, they wanted to get

:14:59. > :15:03.hold of a non-traceable mopeds, a gun am a silencer and ammunition,

:15:04. > :15:06.identified targets which turned out potentially to be Shepherd's Bush

:15:07. > :15:10.police station in the west of the capital and in nearby Territorial

:15:11. > :15:15.Army base and in the autumn of 2014, carry out this attack from the back

:15:16. > :15:21.of op-ed. The court heard that both men were effectively immersed in a

:15:22. > :15:32.warped ideology of so-called Islamic State extremism.

:15:33. > :15:38.We are alive at the BBC newsroom. The lead story... These brothers

:15:39. > :15:44.have been identified as carrying out the Brussels bombing at the city's

:15:45. > :15:47.airports and a Metro station. A look at the main stories from the BBC

:15:48. > :15:52.World Service... Police in China after 1037 people in connection with

:15:53. > :15:59.close to $90 million worth of vaccines being sold illegally. BBC

:16:00. > :16:04.Chinese has that story. The new Chinese Finance Minister... Has a

:16:05. > :16:09.fake degree in finance. He's admitted buying a bogus PhD online.

:16:10. > :16:15.BBC Birmingham has the story. Lots of you watching this chase, to

:16:16. > :16:19.recapture a zebra in Japan. Unfortunately it ended with its

:16:20. > :16:22.death, was broadcast live on television, shot with a

:16:23. > :16:24.tranquilliser dart but collapsed into a lake and died. That is on the

:16:25. > :16:33.BBC news. Just as we are starting to learn

:16:34. > :16:38.about the attackers in Brussels, we are also starting to learn about

:16:39. > :16:39.their victims. The Belgian Health Minister visiting a hospital said

:16:40. > :16:55.this earlier... If the images yesterday were of the

:16:56. > :17:02.destruction created by the bombs, the images today are of the city

:17:03. > :17:06.responding. Let's see some of the pictures coming in today. This is

:17:07. > :17:10.King Philippe laying a wreath at the airport. You can see the King with

:17:11. > :17:15.the Prime Minister of Belgium, visiting one of the 25 hospitals

:17:16. > :17:20.where the injured are being treated. This is a little bit earlier. By the

:17:21. > :17:28.Metro station attacked. Jean-Claude Juncker... Manuel Valls... The

:17:29. > :17:31.French Prime Minister. Many people paying their respects in different

:17:32. > :17:35.ways. The next report from Brussels comes from Lucy Williamson. She has

:17:36. > :17:41.the stories of some of those caught up in the attacks.

:17:42. > :17:43.Among the questions left by Tuesday's attacks is this one.

:17:44. > :17:51.What happened to British IT contractor David Dixon?

:17:52. > :17:53.After two days searching the hospitals here, his partner

:17:54. > :17:56.David left for work yesterday as usual.

:17:57. > :18:00.Maelbeek station was not far from his office.

:18:01. > :18:04.After the explosion there at 9am, Charlotte tried to reach him.

:18:05. > :18:24.270 people from dozens of countries are now known to have been injured

:18:25. > :18:29.Inside this hospital, two British survivors lie

:18:30. > :18:38.While their relatives wait for news, in a separate part of the hospital,

:18:39. > :18:40.other families of other victims begin the grim process

:18:41. > :18:51.Among the first deaths to be confirmed was 20-year-old Leopold

:18:52. > :18:56.A law student at Saint Louis University here in Brussels.

:18:57. > :18:59.And Peruvian Adelma Tapia Ruiz who died during the airport attack.

:19:00. > :19:02.Her four-year-old twin girls survived the blast because they ran

:19:03. > :19:10.Her brother described it as incomprehensible.

:19:11. > :19:13.TRANSLATION: She had twins called Maureen and Elondra.

:19:14. > :19:15.They were in the Brussels airport too.

:19:16. > :19:17.They were connecting through to New York to meet

:19:18. > :19:23.She also planned to come back to Peru this year,

:19:24. > :19:30.Tonight in Brussels there is solidarity in Europe's anger

:19:31. > :19:38.But terrorism's toughest challenge is private.

:19:39. > :19:41.For some these were not just attacks on their home values

:19:42. > :19:43.but on the people they love the most.

:19:44. > :20:02.A reminder that all of the coverage from the BBC on the Brussels attacks

:20:03. > :20:08.is being joined together and you can download it on your phone at any

:20:09. > :20:11.time and contact the BBC News website. Let's take a moment to talk

:20:12. > :20:18.about these two, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, both dry to win the

:20:19. > :20:22.Republican and Democratic nominations for the US presidential

:20:23. > :20:25.elections and they had a good day yesterday, winning the Arizona

:20:26. > :20:31.primary is, there were carcasses in Utah and Idaho, one by Ted Cruz and

:20:32. > :20:36.Bernie Sanders. But with all due respect, in terms of the elections,

:20:37. > :20:39.they don't matter as much as Arizona which is why it was a good day for

:20:40. > :20:47.Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Look at the current rate...

:20:48. > :20:56.All of that said... There was good news for Ted Cruz. A man closest to

:20:57. > :21:00.Donald Trump. Here is Jeb Bush, spent a novel lot of money dry to

:21:01. > :21:03.become the next President, he dropped out of the Republican race

:21:04. > :21:09.and he has endorsed Ted Cruz saying...

:21:10. > :21:21.The thing is, if I had if I had a pound for every person who said Ted

:21:22. > :21:25.Cruz was divisive, I will be a rich man. This is the big irony, Ted Cruz

:21:26. > :21:31.is becoming the establishment party picked to go up against mould Trump

:21:32. > :21:36.and Jeb Bush and met Ronnie, are making the point that he is the only

:21:37. > :21:42.hope, the only one with any kind of a chance, of if not catching Donald

:21:43. > :21:47.Trump, denying him 1237 delegates to secure the nomination before the

:21:48. > :21:50.convention. Will this carry political weight given the

:21:51. > :21:55.criticisms that Jeb Bush handed out to Ted Cruz during his campaign? I

:21:56. > :22:05.don't think it's going to move a lot of votes. Ted Cruz is the only one

:22:06. > :22:09.who can possibly stop Trump... It could direct more money towards Ted

:22:10. > :22:13.Cruz but this problem is not money, he has a fair amount of it, the only

:22:14. > :22:16.thing it could do is put a nail in Eleanor Coughlan of the third

:22:17. > :22:25.candidate still running, John Keswick. He tells everyone a move to

:22:26. > :22:29.Ted Cruz will do my people. A quick word about Hillary Clinton, most

:22:30. > :22:33.commentators seem to think he she is getting close to getting its own,

:22:34. > :22:41.and Arizona Mark Immelman for her? It was definitely a big win for her.

:22:42. > :22:44.She racked up such a big moment, she is continuing her march towards the

:22:45. > :22:49.nomination, making up for losses in Idaho and Utah which had much fewer

:22:50. > :22:56.delegates at stake. She is looking good and continuing to chip along.

:22:57. > :23:00.Staying with American politics, President Obama moving from Cuba to

:23:01. > :23:04.Argentina, the strip about trade but it's coinciding with the 40th

:23:05. > :23:08.anniversary of the military coup in Argentina that installed a dictator.

:23:09. > :23:18.That anniversary is creating extra issues. Here is a report from Buenos

:23:19. > :23:21.Aires. This lady survived the dictatorship, her mother was

:23:22. > :23:26.pregnant when she was arrested and tortured by the dictator. She was

:23:27. > :23:31.born in prison, her father was arrested and detained, she never met

:23:32. > :23:36.him. For victims of the dictatorship March the 24th 1976 remains a

:23:37. > :23:41.traumatic date. A coup or not they marched the start of seven years of

:23:42. > :23:43.state-sponsored terror. The US government initially supported the

:23:44. > :23:47.Argentine military which systematically tortured, killed and

:23:48. > :23:52.has appeared thousands of alleged opponents. Many of the survivors are

:23:53. > :23:57.now questioning the US President's visit on the coup anniversary.
