:00:12. > :00:16.There's been a shooting at a visitors' centre at

:00:17. > :00:18.the US Capitol, home to the Houses of Congress.

:00:19. > :00:21.The gunman has been caught - a policeman was wounded,

:00:22. > :00:27.The Pakistani Prime Minister has promised to avenge the Easter attack

:00:28. > :00:31.saying the militants would fail to divide the country's communities.

:00:32. > :00:40.I will speak to the Pakistani ambassador to the UN in a few

:00:41. > :00:46.minutes. And we will look at the success of

:00:47. > :00:49.Leicester City football club and how their popularity is increasing in

:00:50. > :00:54.Thailand, the home of their billionaire owners. If you have any

:00:55. > :01:11.questions or comments, please get in touch with us.

:01:12. > :01:19.Let's get more on our breaking news story from the past couple of hours.

:01:20. > :01:23.A man has been taken into custody after shots were fired at the US

:01:24. > :01:30.Capitol. One police officer and they feel Mel I stand was wounded. It

:01:31. > :01:35.happened close to that visitor centre in Washington, DC, home to

:01:36. > :01:40.the Houses of Congress. They were placed in lockdown and visitors were

:01:41. > :01:47.told to find shelter while staff were told to stay put.

:01:48. > :01:55.What more can you tell us about this incident? In the last few minutes

:01:56. > :01:58.the lockdown has been lifted on Capitol Hill, that includes the

:01:59. > :02:02.visitors' centre that you were talking about. We understand the

:02:03. > :02:08.suspect is in hospital. As you said, there were shots fired, one

:02:09. > :02:12.bystander, a woman, was hit by shrapnel, and a police officer on

:02:13. > :02:17.Capitol Hill, which has its own police force, the security forces up

:02:18. > :02:28.there, you was also injured in this attack. We do not know much more

:02:29. > :02:31.than that, we are waiting for a press conference which should start

:02:32. > :02:34.any minute now and hopefully they will give us more details. What this

:02:35. > :02:36.goes to show is that this is the US capital, the most secure venue in

:02:37. > :02:39.the United States apart from the White House, it has its own secure

:02:40. > :02:43.police. This visitors' centre was built specifically with security in

:02:44. > :02:47.mind, and yet today, for a couple of hours, this was the scene of extreme

:02:48. > :02:53.tension as it came under attack. It shows just how difficult it is to

:02:54. > :02:58.guarantee the security of any venue. You can put as much security as you

:02:59. > :03:02.like, as many armed police officers as you like, as there are Capitol

:03:03. > :03:05.Hill, and you still cannot stop the individual who is armed and wanting

:03:06. > :03:11.to cause some kind of damage and some kind of attack. That is what

:03:12. > :03:15.American security officials are particularly worried about. It did

:03:16. > :03:20.seem like the messages for visitors to try and find shelter, which must

:03:21. > :03:24.have been very frightening for them, and then the workers there to try

:03:25. > :03:29.and they put. How did they get that message across? Loudspeakers? Here

:03:30. > :03:33.in the United States it is a week where schools are on holidays, and

:03:34. > :03:42.it is traditionally known as spring break, schools bring their students

:03:43. > :03:45.to visit the capital. You have school children, teachers, other

:03:46. > :03:50.tourists from around the country the world. They have a PA system, you

:03:51. > :03:54.can hear these messages. It was the PA system which was giving us much

:03:55. > :03:55.of the news, which told us there was an active shooting situation going

:03:56. > :03:58.on and told people an active shooting situation going

:03:59. > :04:04.on and told people to say they securely in place, then they have

:04:05. > :04:11.the lockdown,, and then we heard it had been lifted. People are allowed

:04:12. > :04:15.to carry guns in Washington, DC, is that correct? Know, in Washington,

:04:16. > :04:19.DC you cannot carry guns, not in individual members of the public.

:04:20. > :04:23.That law was contested recently. Individual members of the public

:04:24. > :04:27.cannot do that. The police who are up on Capitol Hill, the Capitol Hill

:04:28. > :04:32.police force dedicated to protecting the US Congress, they are on and

:04:33. > :04:40.they would have been armed in this case. Thank you very much. We are

:04:41. > :04:47.going to try and bring the press conference to you when it gets

:04:48. > :04:51.underway from just close to the Capitol Building. Let's and onto

:04:52. > :04:54.Outside Source sport. Some of the teams who qualified for football's

:04:55. > :05:00.European Championship in the summer have been in action. Let's cross to

:05:01. > :05:00.Hugh, who is at the BBC sports centre and can

:05:01. > :05:10.more about what is happening. International friendlies are often

:05:11. > :05:14.decried, too many substitutions and boring football, nobody really cares

:05:15. > :05:17.about winning. This time though, they are crucial. Tuesday and

:05:18. > :05:20.Wednesday will offer managers the final chance to see their teams

:05:21. > :05:25.before deciding the squad that they will pick for the European

:05:26. > :05:28.Championships in France later this year. Two have taken place on

:05:29. > :05:33.Tuesday involving three teams who will be in France. Wales have been

:05:34. > :05:36.waiting some 60 years to fight for a major tournament, they have been

:05:37. > :05:41.waiting nearly eight years for a friendly away from home and that

:05:42. > :05:45.goes on, they lost 1-0 in Ukraine. They also qualify for Euro 2016, a

:05:46. > :05:53.goal from Andre Yarmolenko. For Chris Coleman's site, just one win

:05:54. > :05:55.in their last three games. As far as Northern Ireland are concerned,

:05:56. > :06:00.their last appearance in a big footballing event was the 1986 World

:06:01. > :06:03.Cup. Just the last few moments they have broken the record for the

:06:04. > :06:08.number of games unbeaten, that is ten now in a row. They have beaten

:06:09. > :06:12.Slovenia by one goal to nil in Belfast. Conor Washington with the

:06:13. > :06:17.goal. Wednesday, some of the really big nations who have the potential

:06:18. > :06:20.to win Euro 2016 will play their final friendlies before their

:06:21. > :06:24.managers pick the squads. While champions Germany have lost three of

:06:25. > :06:30.their last four matches, including dramatically to England on Saturday.

:06:31. > :06:34.They played against Italy in Germany, and Italy have not won any

:06:35. > :06:40.of their last three matches either. Portugal play Belgium, two big

:06:41. > :06:43.hitters as well. Hosts France will play World Cup hosts Russia.

:06:44. > :06:47.England, after winning in Berlin, have a sense of optimism going into

:06:48. > :06:51.their match at Wembley against the Netherlands. There is even talk of

:06:52. > :06:56.Wayne Rooney, currently injured, being surplus to requirements, would

:06:57. > :07:07.you believe, after his young replacements broke the World Cup

:07:08. > :07:08.winners. IQ, Hugh Ferris. -- thank you. That smacks day with a few more

:07:09. > :07:18.stories. Foreign influence isn't only on the

:07:19. > :07:22.pitch in the Premier League. The team who are unexpectedly flying

:07:23. > :07:27.high at the top, everybody wants to know about this team, they are

:07:28. > :07:32.closing in on the title, it is Leicester City. Based in the English

:07:33. > :07:38.Midlands. They are in fact owned by a tight duty free property company

:07:39. > :07:39.based in Bangkok. Quite a way away. -- in Thailand duty free property

:07:40. > :07:42.company. In a country long dominated by

:07:43. > :07:45.the red power of Manchester United and Liverpool, this

:07:46. > :07:48.is something new and blue. A club that, until recently,

:07:49. > :08:01.few Thais had heard and even

:08:02. > :08:02.fewer could pronounce. Under Thai ownership Leicester's

:08:03. > :08:04.improbable success is drawing in new supporters here

:08:05. > :08:06.in the land of smiles. How long did you support

:08:07. > :08:08.Manchester United? Now you have switched

:08:09. > :08:13.to Leicester, why? TRANSLATION: It's because

:08:14. > :08:22.they're Thai owned. The club's owner, Kingpower,

:08:23. > :08:30.has become laying on free food and beer for the fans

:08:31. > :08:37.while they watch Leicester's seemingly unstoppable rise,

:08:38. > :08:40.winning again here against Crystal Last year, they had to shut down

:08:41. > :08:48.this shop at a central Bangkok Metro This year, every Leicester shirt

:08:49. > :08:55.in Thailand is sold out. Can unglamorous Leicester upstage

:08:56. > :08:59.the big names of English football Especially the young,

:09:00. > :09:08.whose loyalties aren't fixed yet. We went to a Bangkok weekend

:09:09. > :09:11.practice match to find out. Well, for this exercise we tried

:09:12. > :09:19.to get hold of a Leicester City shirt, but every one of them

:09:20. > :09:21.in the country is sold out. So, we have had to bring up

:09:22. > :09:25.a picture here on this laptop and we will show it to these boys

:09:26. > :09:28.and see what the awareness is of the club at the top

:09:29. > :09:30.of the Premier League. Can I just ask you guys whether any

:09:31. > :09:34.of you or all of you know whose But they weren't quite so sure

:09:35. > :09:50.they were ready to support them. Thai football has come a long way

:09:51. > :09:53.in the past ten years. Local clubs like this now

:09:54. > :09:59.have a strong and noisy following. Many of them also follow

:10:00. > :10:02.a Premier League side. TRANSLATION: I have been a Chelsea

:10:03. > :10:11.fan for a long time. But I wouldn't mind rooting

:10:12. > :10:20.for a Thai club. It has bounced back from near

:10:21. > :10:23.relegation. Well, secretly I am wishing

:10:24. > :10:25.Leicester well. Much of course depends

:10:26. > :10:29.on what happens in Leicester's But if they do triumph,

:10:30. > :10:38.they can tap into an almost bottomless pool of football

:10:39. > :10:39.passion here in Thailand, and plenty

:10:40. > :10:53.of patriotic pride. Let's to the world of boxing. If you

:10:54. > :10:57.head to the BBC sport page or the app you can see more about the

:10:58. > :11:02.condition of Nick Blackwell, the boxer in an induced coma after his

:11:03. > :11:06.British middleweight title defeat by Chris Eubank Junior that took place

:11:07. > :11:09.on Saturday. His trainer has told the BBC that Blackwell has not

:11:10. > :11:15.deteriorated, although he is heavily sedated he could be brought round on

:11:16. > :11:19.Tuesday. This fight has raised questions over the safety of the

:11:20. > :11:24.sport, but not for the man who heads the British board of boxing control.

:11:25. > :11:30.We obviously will have a review of the situation and see what the

:11:31. > :11:35.incident shows and get reports from everybody that, all the doctors etc,

:11:36. > :11:38.and we will meet up and discuss if anything could have been different.

:11:39. > :11:44.At the present time, from what I have seen and Hugh I have spoken to,

:11:45. > :11:49.I am satisfied -- who I have spoken to. I want to bring you a reminder

:11:50. > :11:54.of our top story this hour, breaking news out of Washington, DC. A US

:11:55. > :11:58.Capitol Belize officer was shot on Monday at the Capitol Visitor Center

:11:59. > :12:06.complex, and the shooter was taken into custody. Capitol officials and

:12:07. > :12:09.police said. Let's take a look at the pictures coming in. The

:12:10. > :12:14.microphones are set up because they are expecting a press conference in

:12:15. > :12:19.a few minutes time. We will bring you that once it gets underway. We

:12:20. > :12:24.expect it to come from the DC police. The lockdown has been

:12:25. > :12:28.lifted, as we were hearing from some of our correspondents over the past

:12:29. > :12:31.couple of minutes. It is all coming up on Outside Source. In a few

:12:32. > :12:34.minutes we are going to talk about the suicide bombing Pakistan which

:12:35. > :12:39.killed more than 70 people, we are going to be speaking to the practice

:12:40. > :12:41.Pakistani ambassador to the UN here on this programme. -- the Pakistani

:12:42. > :12:51.ambassador. battered large parts of southern

:12:52. > :12:55.Britain, leaving flights cancelled, property damaged, and thousands of

:12:56. > :13:01.people without power. There were gusts of up to 106 mph recorded as

:13:02. > :13:05.more than 100,000 homes were left without power at the height of the

:13:06. > :13:09.winds. Thousands are still awaiting reconnection to the electricity

:13:10. > :13:14.tonight. The Environment Agency have issued 27 flood warnings following

:13:15. > :13:19.the rain. Robert Hall brings us this report. A rude awakening after the

:13:20. > :13:23.two weekend. Storm Katie may have arrived while most of us were

:13:24. > :13:27.asleep, but there was no missing its journey east. This video was filmed

:13:28. > :13:32.by onlookers as the storm dismantled three stories of scaffolding.

:13:33. > :13:35.Unfortunately, some of these businesses will be closed for one or

:13:36. > :13:39.two days until the scaffolding is repaired. We need to make sure that

:13:40. > :13:42.the electricity lines and anything untoward, we are just making sure

:13:43. > :13:47.that the residents of the flat above are safe, and well-informed. In

:13:48. > :13:53.Gosport in Hampshire, a series of storm forced gusts tore the entire

:13:54. > :13:58.roof of these flats. Suddenly we heard a tremendous crash. And the

:13:59. > :14:06.whole building shook. Quite dramatically. And that kind of got

:14:07. > :14:10.us out of bed quite quickly. The storm had dragged from Cornwall to

:14:11. > :14:15.the North Sea. Tumbling trees, damaging buildings, bringing down

:14:16. > :14:19.power lines. At its peak, the gale had enough force to twist this tower

:14:20. > :14:24.crane on a building site in east London.

:14:25. > :14:31.Along the south coast, there were warnings of coastal flooding

:14:32. > :14:34.Along the south coast flooding there were warnings of coastal

:14:35. > :14:35.flooding and ferry sailings were disrupted.

:14:36. > :14:38.More than 80 flights were cancelled at Heathrow and Gatwick airports,

:14:39. > :14:41.and some fights that did attempt to make it in were forced to abort.

:14:42. > :14:44.An uncomfortable few minutes for travellers on the way home.

:14:45. > :14:46.In the Thames Valley, the centre of Woodley was sealed off

:14:47. > :14:48.after scaffolding collapsed to the street.

:14:49. > :14:51.Back in Gosport, the sun is shining but the clear-up has some way to go.

:14:52. > :14:54.At these flats near the naval base, roofing installation and timbers had

:14:55. > :14:56.dropped three storeys and crashed onto cars below.

:14:57. > :14:59.Storm Katie may have been relatively short lived but the incidents

:15:00. > :15:01.we have seen give some indication of its power.

:15:02. > :15:04.If it had not moved through in the hours of darkness,

:15:05. > :15:26.the consequences could have been more serious.

:15:27. > :15:31.this is Outside Source, live from the BBC News. Our lead story...

:15:32. > :15:37.There has been a shooting a visitors' centre in the US capital.

:15:38. > :15:41.The gunman has been caught, a policeman was wounded but not

:15:42. > :15:47.seriously. Coming up next, it depends on where you live. On BBC

:15:48. > :15:51.News, world News America is looking back at South Africa's history of

:15:52. > :15:57.corruption scandals, and the campaign is using satire highlight

:15:58. > :16:02.this. Coming up next on the BBC News Channel in the UK, much more on

:16:03. > :16:05.Storm Katie which has battered large parts of England, with property

:16:06. > :16:11.damaged and thousands of people without power. Let's move onto one

:16:12. > :16:17.of our top stories. More 70 people are now known to have died

:16:18. > :16:29.in a suicide attack in a park in Lahore, Pakistan. The group which

:16:30. > :16:31.claimed responsibility say it targeted Christians celebrating

:16:32. > :16:39.Easter. The Pakistani Prime Minister has been speaking.

:16:40. > :16:46.We are keeping a count of each and every drop of blood by citizens. We

:16:47. > :16:50.will not stop until we take revenge of each and every drop of blood of

:16:51. > :16:55.our fellow citizens which was built by the terrorists. You know,

:16:56. > :16:59.terrorism has become an international challenge. Pakistan is

:17:00. > :17:04.not the only country which is facing this challenge. Very recently, we

:17:05. > :17:11.saw similar terrorism at Ankara, Istanbul, Brussels and Paris.

:17:12. > :17:15.Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations joins us now. Great to have

:17:16. > :17:21.you with us, mad ambassador. We hearing some of the comments of

:17:22. > :17:26.Pakistan's Prime Minister. -- Adam ambassador. What did you make of

:17:27. > :17:29.what he said? I think the most important message from the Prime

:17:30. > :17:34.Minister and from his government is that the people of Pakistan are

:17:35. > :17:40.united in their grief, but they are also united in their resolve to

:17:41. > :17:44.confront and to defeat these dark forces of terrorism. And I think he

:17:45. > :17:47.is reassuring the people of Pakistan that his government will continue

:17:48. > :17:51.with the law enforcement operations that have been under way. Remember,

:17:52. > :17:54.this attack has taken place in a certain context, and that contact is

:17:55. > :18:03.law enforcement operation going on in what is called North was a wrist

:18:04. > :18:07.band, one of the tribal agencies. Our forces went into a strategic

:18:08. > :18:15.area just under a month ago, and as the space has shrunk for terrorist,

:18:16. > :18:19.they have begun to strike out in desperate ways. There have been so

:18:20. > :18:26.many attacks, if you look back at power shower, there are so many

:18:27. > :18:29.children -- Pesce well. Pakistani is angry that their government is not

:18:30. > :18:36.able to have a funfair on an Easter Sunday secure. I think the important

:18:37. > :18:41.thing right now is the actions that the government is taking, we are

:18:42. > :18:47.intensifying our intelligence led and paramilitary led crackdown in

:18:48. > :18:52.part of southern Punjab. There are raids going on as I speak. You know,

:18:53. > :18:57.there is always a sense of shock and grief when something so barbaric

:18:58. > :19:00.takes place. But it is obviously the responsibility of the government of

:19:01. > :19:04.then take action, but because we have been taking actions, remember,

:19:05. > :19:10.the militants are also striking out as a backlash to the very strong

:19:11. > :19:13.action which has been taken in the tribal areas, and that continues to

:19:14. > :19:17.be taken in some of our urban centres. Ambassador, some would say

:19:18. > :19:22.that actually the government is not stringent enough. For example,

:19:23. > :19:25.clamping down on radical extremists who protest in the streets against

:19:26. > :19:28.Christian minorities, and that they feel enough has not been done to

:19:29. > :19:36.stop that speech and actually take a stand. Well, we do have an action

:19:37. > :19:40.plan that went into operation a year ago, and I think if you read the

:19:41. > :19:43.statistics, this is not to say that the challenge is by any means, way,

:19:44. > :19:49.the challenge is great. But I think if you look at the statistics from

:19:50. > :19:53.the peak in 2014, we are actually looking at a decline in terrorist

:19:54. > :19:58.actions in Pakistan. However, when something as big as what happened in

:19:59. > :20:01.Lahore takes place, actually the government will act even more

:20:02. > :20:05.decisively than it has in the past, and that is why I said, at the

:20:06. > :20:09.moment, there are raids going on, we take that we are making progress in

:20:10. > :20:13.our investigation. As the Prime Minister said, we are determined to

:20:14. > :20:17.bring the culprits to justice, and we will make sure that the blood of

:20:18. > :20:23.Jordan has not been spilt in vain. Has there been any concrete result

:20:24. > :20:31.from the investigation -- blood of our children. We are making

:20:32. > :20:35.progress, as I said, certain arrests have been made, and interrogations

:20:36. > :20:39.are going on. We will only really know what's we have this

:20:40. > :20:44.interrogation process completed. But the actions continue. -- once we

:20:45. > :20:47.have. We have been intensifying or actions against militants in the

:20:48. > :20:51.North and tribal areas, that is why they have been trying to flee those

:20:52. > :20:54.areas and they have tried to regain their space. My government is

:20:55. > :20:59.determined not to allow them to regain that space. Pakistan's

:21:00. > :21:05.ambassador to the United Nations, joining us from New York, thank you.

:21:06. > :21:12.Let's to Washington, DC now. The US Capitol Police chief is giving a

:21:13. > :21:17.news conference that we can watch. We believe that the suspect is

:21:18. > :21:25.now... How was he known to you? Through previous contacts. Did he

:21:26. > :21:33.disrupt... I can't comment on that right now. Have charges been filed?

:21:34. > :21:41.Not at this point. There has been a lot of talk about security lately.

:21:42. > :21:44.This checkpoint was designed to identify a threat before it began in

:21:45. > :21:50.the capital. With this work the way it was designed to? It appears that

:21:51. > :21:55.the screening process works the way it was posted, that is correct.

:21:56. > :21:59.Again, this is preliminary, I know you want as much information as I

:22:00. > :22:02.can possibly give you, but without confirming some things I really

:22:03. > :22:05.don't want to give you bad information, I'd rather just give

:22:06. > :22:09.the information when we confirm it. I will try to provide as much

:22:10. > :22:14.information as I can so that you can certainly get it out to the public.

:22:15. > :22:23.I want to thank you very much. SHOUTING

:22:24. > :22:29.STUDIO: As we are seeing, some of the pictures from the press

:22:30. > :22:33.conference. He didn't give very much information, just lying before we

:22:34. > :22:37.came to it was that the capital will open for business on Tuesday -- just

:22:38. > :22:41.the line. The reporters had hundreds of questions, but he was not

:22:42. > :22:45.prepared to answer any of them just yet. He felt the screening process

:22:46. > :22:50.did work, however, he said that, which is quite interesting. So we

:22:51. > :22:58.will keep an eye on that story as it develops. With hundreds of millions

:22:59. > :23:01.of young children in India, it is little wonder that the market in

:23:02. > :23:06.clothing is big business and getting bigger, worth about $10 billion

:23:07. > :23:13.today, expected to double by 2023 according to one consultancy. It is

:23:14. > :23:19.partly down to foreign brands. Urban Indians love to shop, and when it

:23:25. > :23:27.clothes. Indians have traditionally bought children's clothes from

:23:28. > :23:32.neighbourhood stores, mostly non-branded and locally made. But as

:23:33. > :23:36.more people travel abroad and have rising disposable incomes, demand

:23:37. > :23:42.for brands have gone up. It is mauled like this that many people

:23:43. > :23:47.shop. Like this lady, who is picky about what her son wears. She used

:23:48. > :23:53.to shop at when travelling, an order from stores outside the country, but

:23:54. > :23:57.says that is no longer so necessary. The shopping binge by well of Indian

:23:58. > :24:01.parents is good news for brands like Mothercare. And its plans to start

:24:23. > :24:28.going to take this further, we are going to manufacture much more. But

:24:29. > :24:35.not everybody is able to cash in on the boom. This was the country's

:24:36. > :24:39.largest kids wear brand, at its peak the company had nearly 300 stores

:24:40. > :24:44.and employed close to 22,000 people across the country. But now 80% of
