:00:07. > :00:11.Hello, I'm Ros Atkins, this is Outside Source.
:00:12. > :00:19.We're going to begin in Iraq where government forces inside Mosul for
:00:20. > :00:24.the first time in two years. The Islamic State group still controls
:00:25. > :00:40.the city, we have a report the front line. But the first time in a long
:00:41. > :00:52.while a poll has trumped against Hillary. Ahead of Hillary. Here are
:00:53. > :00:55.two of China's new stealth fighter jets, we will be showing you dump
:00:56. > :01:00.the first time and running through their credentials. If you have
:01:01. > :01:11.questions about the stories we are covering, here's the hashtag to use.
:01:12. > :01:22.You can also e-mail us whenever you like. This is a map of the North of
:01:23. > :01:24.Iraq. Iraqi government troops
:01:25. > :01:25.are inside Mosul. The city is still controlled
:01:26. > :01:30.by the Islamic State group, The Iraqis have moved
:01:31. > :01:38.into an industrial zone This is the Iraqi Prime
:01:39. > :01:52.Minister earlier. We will close in on the Islamic
:01:53. > :01:58.State from all angles and God willing we will cut the snake's head
:01:59. > :02:04.off will stop they have no choice either they surrender, or die.
:02:05. > :02:06.Ian Pannell is with the Iraqi troops.
:02:07. > :02:30.Today, it is the town of Iraqi special forces. We have had a
:02:31. > :02:37.whizzing sound overhead, close to the city of Mosul. It is sniper fire
:02:38. > :02:50.coming in from Iraqi state -- Islamic State.
:02:51. > :03:01.Few expected they would advance this far, this fast. But the closer they
:03:02. > :03:06.get to also the distance grows we are now literally at the 100 metres
:03:07. > :03:12.on the outskirts of Mosul with counterterrorism forces. We are
:03:13. > :03:19.constantly hearing the sound of rounds coming in, rocket propelled
:03:20. > :03:23.remains an automatic weapon by. There were tanks and heavy weapons,
:03:24. > :03:28.they are targeting a number of buildings where they think Islamic
:03:29. > :03:31.State is based. When it is safe Bill moved on into Mosul itself. There
:03:32. > :03:37.were thought to be more than a million people trapped between the
:03:38. > :03:43.warring parties with nothing but a white flag but defence. Many beer
:03:44. > :03:51.and mass exodus. This was the moment the troops entered the outskirts of
:03:52. > :03:56.Mosul. -- many fear and mass exodus. Islamic State site is barely seem to
:03:57. > :03:59.care that the troops are advancing. That doesn't mean they are not
:04:00. > :04:06.prepared to defend the city, and will fight to the death.
:04:07. > :04:12.The counterterrorism forces have been reading through Mosul, the
:04:13. > :04:17.outskirts only, but the last few hours and have met stiff resistance.
:04:18. > :04:25.We've seen a number of ices fighters moving around. They are carrying
:04:26. > :04:36.rocket propelled grenades. -- Isis fighters. A lot of gunfire. The
:04:37. > :04:46.ground is treacherous. It is laced with ie good deeds. It shows how
:04:47. > :04:51.hard the battle is going to be. This is just a one in Mosul. This is the
:04:52. > :04:57.road the troops must now take, it leads to the centre of the city. A
:04:58. > :04:58.dark and dangerous route into the heart of the caliphate of Islamic
:04:59. > :05:05.State. A little earlier I spoke with Orla
:05:06. > :05:16.Guerin in Northern Iraq. What we know is that a crucial
:05:17. > :05:20.threshold has been passed. Iraqi troops are now inside the city and
:05:21. > :05:25.have stepped onto the soil of Mosul but the first time in more than two
:05:26. > :05:30.and a half years. A highly symbolic and important moment for a rack and
:05:31. > :05:36.the people of the besieged city who've been waiting for so long but
:05:37. > :05:41.forces to come to their aid. The counterterrorism forces entered in
:05:42. > :05:47.the eastern suburb, they pushed into a second suburb managed to take
:05:48. > :05:52.control of the TV station. Again, an important symbolic step. We know
:05:53. > :05:57.that they faced fierce resistance, there was sniper fire and attacks
:05:58. > :06:04.with laser-guided missiles. We understand that the Iraqi troops
:06:05. > :06:07.have had to construct concrete walls around the advancing forces. To try
:06:08. > :06:14.and block the advance of suicide bombers. These have been such a
:06:15. > :06:19.feature here over the last two weeks. We understand the fighting
:06:20. > :06:26.has finished, darkness has fallen as you can see and a sandstorm has come
:06:27. > :06:31.up inside Mosul. Iraqi generals are describing this as the beginning of
:06:32. > :06:38.the true liberation of Mosul. The key word there is the beginning. The
:06:39. > :06:45.fair bet they penetrate into the city the more resistance they are
:06:46. > :06:50.likely to face. Especially when they get to the old section of town with
:06:51. > :06:55.the narrow streets. Heavy military hardware will not be ale to go
:06:56. > :07:04.through. That'll be street to street, house to house. Hal David
:07:05. > :07:11.Kurdish troops fit into the equation. -- how do the Kurdish
:07:12. > :07:15.troops? They have pushed forward over the last two weeks from the
:07:16. > :07:21.North and the East, but the agreement that was reached by the
:07:22. > :07:26.Iraqi government was that the Kurdish forces would not actually
:07:27. > :07:32.enter Mosul. They were not due to go inside and have not done so. The
:07:33. > :07:38.only forces that are supposed to fight on the ground are the Iraqi
:07:39. > :07:45.army and police. There are paramilitary units to the west of
:07:46. > :07:53.Mosul, a rainy backed Shia militia. -- rainy and backed. They have
:07:54. > :07:59.promised they will not go inside. Only the Iraqi forces and police do
:08:00. > :08:02.not suppose to go in but over the last two weeks the Kurdish troops
:08:03. > :08:09.have added to the territory under their control. They have been
:08:10. > :08:13.pushing forward and pushing out INS and gaining territory. They have
:08:14. > :08:21.been clear that they are not prepared to surrender any think they
:08:22. > :08:25.have captured. We are focusing on Mosul but there is another
:08:26. > :08:28.development I want to tell you about. Techie is amassing tanks and
:08:29. > :08:33.Turkish Defence Minister Fikri Isik says the deployment was part
:08:34. > :08:38.of preparations for important developments in the region
:08:39. > :08:46.Make of that what you will. While I am talking to you about Turkey and
:08:47. > :08:53.Iraq I know that Hillary Clinton is talking at around a in Florida.
:08:54. > :08:58.Let's listen. Grabbing women, mistreating women and I have to tell
:08:59. > :09:02.you that since that tape came out, 12 women have come forward to say
:09:03. > :09:11."What he said on that tape, is what he did to me". And then we had his
:09:12. > :09:16.response" what he does at his rally is to go after those women all over
:09:17. > :09:19.again in Sultan in them. He said he couldn't have said those things
:09:20. > :09:28.because the women went attractive enough to assault. Look at hand, he
:09:29. > :09:36.said about one woman, "I do think so" about another, "She wouldn't be
:09:37. > :09:42.my first choice" she he also drags on tape with Howard Stern about how
:09:43. > :09:46.he used to go back stage at his beauty pageant and barge in on women
:09:47. > :09:56.while they were getting dressed. He said he did that to inspect them,
:09:57. > :10:00.that where his words. He said he got away with things like that, sure
:10:01. > :10:08.enough contestants have come forward to say that is what he did to them.
:10:09. > :10:13.As bad as that is, he didn't just do it at the Miss USA pageant or the
:10:14. > :10:23.Miss universe pageant, he also has been accused of doing it at the Miss
:10:24. > :10:29.teen USA pageant. That is Hillary Clinton being very critical about
:10:30. > :10:31.how Donald Trump treats women. All of those allegations she references,
:10:32. > :10:35.Trump repeats. Donald Trump will be
:10:36. > :10:36.in Wisconsin later. At the moment he's in Pennsylvania,
:10:37. > :10:53.here he is talking about Obamacare. When we win on November eight,
:10:54. > :11:01.Anderlecht and Republican Congress we will be able to immediately
:11:02. > :11:06.repeal and replace Obama car. I will ask Congress to convene a special
:11:07. > :11:14.session so that we can repeal and replace and it will be such an
:11:15. > :11:19.honour than me, you when everyone in this country because it has to be
:11:20. > :11:22.replaced and we will do it and we will do it very, very quickly. It is
:11:23. > :11:32.a catastrophe. I want to talk about both of those
:11:33. > :11:44.clips, they were interesting in different ways. Donald Trump has
:11:45. > :11:49.decided there is some mileage in Obamacare. Yes, we have had news
:11:50. > :11:56.from the White House that premiums in Obamacare again to go up but 25%.
:11:57. > :12:05.And that is when you started to see Herr Pohl results declined. So that
:12:06. > :12:10.has mileage the hero, certainly in times of Hillary Clinton we had had
:12:11. > :12:15.their speaking and making references to Donald Trump and his relationship
:12:16. > :12:18.with women. Am not saying what you are describing isn't outrageous but
:12:19. > :12:24.I'm wondering how much political ground can be made on it? I think
:12:25. > :12:28.she's trying to shift the conversation away from her e-mail
:12:29. > :12:32.conversation and back to his character flaws. It is true that
:12:33. > :12:37.what a lot of women the way that Donald Trump has described women,
:12:38. > :12:42.that video tape, the allegations of sexual abuse, that has had an
:12:43. > :12:47.impact. And it has an impact in the polls. So, at the very bad couple of
:12:48. > :12:53.days but the Clinton campaign she has got to change the conversation
:12:54. > :12:56.back to Donald Trump's character and specifically to rally women voters
:12:57. > :13:02.who might be still wavering or in the middle will start to remind them
:13:03. > :13:05.that there is this e-mail issue, but remember you are dealing with a man
:13:06. > :13:10.who has said all these things and has described women in these ways.
:13:11. > :13:19.But undecided women voters it is still a powerful message. Donald
:13:20. > :13:35.Trump has been fairly clear, I'm going to appeal Obamacare, paid the
:13:36. > :13:40.sillier doesn't Hillary Clinton have ideas on how policies? Yes, she has
:13:41. > :13:45.on her website what's you would do about trade, education, health care.
:13:46. > :13:50.She has been far more detailed ink hems of her policy platform. I think
:13:51. > :13:55.these last few days really about trying to generate in easier as on
:13:56. > :14:00.both sides, among supporters. Part of that is scaring them to death
:14:01. > :14:04.about the prospect of the other candidate being elected. They both
:14:05. > :14:10.know that neither of them are very popular and are trying to play up
:14:11. > :14:14.the other candidate's negatives. That is bubbly more important at
:14:15. > :14:23.this stage but them. What are the political dynamics that will affect
:14:24. > :14:31.which way this day goes? This is an amazing Lee important state. The
:14:32. > :14:36.public in in 2004, Democrat into bars and eight, it is an Nite edge
:14:37. > :14:42.at the moment. You are in a city like this, it is blooming. It is
:14:43. > :14:47.stunning, with this baseball field like in the middle of the city. What
:14:48. > :14:54.it does not represent the whole state. City areas lead Democrat but
:14:55. > :14:59.all Democrats are much more socially conservative league and have been
:15:00. > :15:03.hit economic Lee. They are the areas that are leaning towards Donald
:15:04. > :15:08.Trump. It is a microcosm of what is going on in this campaign. If you
:15:09. > :15:13.want to impress your friends on election night look at North
:15:14. > :15:17.Carolina. What are they putting on the glass behind you? My garden
:15:18. > :15:22.doesn't look like that. I think they are painting it green. Mine has
:15:23. > :15:28.never looked like that either. Thank you very much, have born. Of course
:15:29. > :15:35.she is part of our coverage of the US election do the next week, and
:15:36. > :15:42.beyond. In a little while we go to turn to more tension between the UK
:15:43. > :15:53.and Russia. This time it is about cyber attacks.
:15:54. > :16:02.Campaigners for a public enquiry into clashes between police and
:16:03. > :16:07.miners say they are considering seeking a judicial review. The
:16:08. > :16:11.government has refused to hold an enquiry. He is the chair of that
:16:12. > :16:19.campaign group. There are options for the future, some of them that we
:16:20. > :16:24.will be discussing with the legal people about the possibility of
:16:25. > :16:32.judicial review. We regard that the gloves are off on our side. We
:16:33. > :16:39.focused on the police violence because we fought that was the best
:16:40. > :16:43.way to get access didn't. Of getting something out of the Tory Home
:16:44. > :16:52.Secretary, but now we're going to focus on the political side. And the
:16:53. > :16:58.involvement of Margaret Thatcher's government at the time.
:16:59. > :17:06.This is Outside Source live from the BBC newsroom.
:17:07. > :17:09.Our lead story comes from outback where there are government forces
:17:10. > :17:21.outside Mosul. Reporting from Venezuela, five
:17:22. > :17:26.opposition supporters have been freed from attention. They have been
:17:27. > :17:31.held on charges which they say are political. No sign
:17:32. > :17:40.of the resolution. An Australian tourist who is missing in Borneo but
:17:41. > :17:44.nearly two weeks has been found alive. He had been trekking alone
:17:45. > :17:51.and was bound hungry but conscious and able to talk to his rescuers.
:17:52. > :17:55.And Britain's heavyweight Championship is going to defend his
:17:56. > :18:06.title in Manchester on the 10th of December.
:18:07. > :18:14.If you are watching in the UK or anywhere else in Europe and you are
:18:15. > :18:19.seeing me an hour earlier, it is for week only. I would give you the
:18:20. > :18:24.details explanation but is ASBO the America and the UK changing their
:18:25. > :18:25.clocks at different times. We will be back at the normal time from next
:18:26. > :18:26.week. Yet more tension between the UK
:18:27. > :18:29.and Russia over cyber-security. The head of the Uk's MI5
:18:30. > :18:32.intelligence agency says "Russia is using its whole range
:18:33. > :18:45.of state organs and powers I spoke to the Kremlin's
:18:46. > :18:47.spokesperson, Dmitry I asked about those statements
:18:48. > :18:51.and he said that until there was any Then, any such statement,
:18:52. > :19:04.whether from the head of MI5 or from the Vice
:19:05. > :19:07.President of the United States, Russia will consider those
:19:08. > :19:10.statements to be an substantiated and unfounded and will pay
:19:11. > :19:12.no attention to them. He did say he did agree
:19:13. > :19:15.with Andrew Parker on one thing, and that was that Russia
:19:16. > :19:17.is using all its means to promote its interests
:19:18. > :19:19.and defend its interests abroad. But, it was using legal means to do
:19:20. > :19:36.that, all the means that Russia has Now, we already knew that the UK was
:19:37. > :19:42.going to spend billions of pounds on cyber security. But the BBC's
:19:43. > :19:43.technology reporter was giving us more details about what it will be
:19:44. > :20:04.spent on. There are three areas. Defending
:20:05. > :20:10.against ban, which are huge threats. Spam, because overloads an
:20:11. > :20:15.organisation? Partly because in spam there is often malicious software.
:20:16. > :20:21.The repair element is, what was talked about by the Finance
:20:22. > :20:26.minister, actually striking back. They going to employ a lot more
:20:27. > :20:34.police offices to look out the hacker domestically. But they claim,
:20:35. > :20:39.it is quite difficult to decide what action might take place, but if you
:20:40. > :20:44.hit us we will have the ability to hit back at you. Take Daniel
:20:45. > :20:51.networks just as you have taken over ours. He said it was better that we
:20:52. > :20:55.had this power density are at disrupted, our power grids to
:20:56. > :21:00.disrupt it will stop perhaps be forced to use military means. It is
:21:01. > :21:04.better that our opponents know that we have the same cyber weapons that
:21:05. > :21:10.they do and we can use them. Other Russians really doing anything
:21:11. > :21:14.different to what lots of other countries are doing. -- Art the
:21:15. > :21:18.Russians. I'm sure there are things that other countries do that we
:21:19. > :21:23.don't know about and the Russians might not like. I think that is what
:21:24. > :21:28.the Russians want us to think. Espionage is all about finding out
:21:29. > :21:31.what the other side is doing. The accusation is that the Russians have
:21:32. > :21:37.gone further than that and that there is a buzzy line. We know there
:21:38. > :21:45.are criminal gangs in Russia who are expected using these tools to launch
:21:46. > :21:49.massive denial of service attacks against organisations. The theory is
:21:50. > :21:54.there is a nod and a wink from the Russian government to some of those
:21:55. > :21:59.attacks. We have seen those attacks in the United States interfering
:22:00. > :22:02.with the American election, which the American authorities have said
:22:03. > :22:04.are down to Russia. Written seems to be coming in and saying that we are
:22:05. > :22:07.worried about that too. Oil giant British Petroleum
:22:08. > :22:09.has announced a major drop in its profits,
:22:10. > :22:11.as the sector continues They still made a profit profits
:22:12. > :22:30.are of 933 million dollars down 50%. Is this just as simple as
:22:31. > :22:34.oil prices bringing profits down? Well, we have seen problems with the
:22:35. > :22:39.oil price but quite a while now. If you look at the oil spill dating
:22:40. > :22:47.back, that they suffered in the Gulf of Mexico. That forced the company
:22:48. > :22:53.to take actions. It sold off a lot of assets that proved precedent. It
:22:54. > :22:58.meant that they tighten their belts before we saw the shop drop in the
:22:59. > :23:03.price of oil and that is why the benefits are beginning to pay off
:23:04. > :23:09.now. Like all of the oil companies they are struggling with prices that
:23:10. > :23:16.are, if the dollars a barrel but in 2014 they were a hundred dolls a
:23:17. > :23:28.barrel. Now we have a book port of how will the 2008 crash affect the
:23:29. > :23:36.middle-class of America political. The American dream went broke in the
:23:37. > :23:40.housing collapse in 2007. The horrors of that crash can be felt in
:23:41. > :23:55.real estate. How much of your income is going towards rent? 56.5% a lot.
:23:56. > :24:00.Owning a home is unthinkable without help, she can hardly afford to rent.
:24:01. > :24:05.At the moment she's undecided but hopes that someone can use have
:24:06. > :24:10.financial burden. Someone is going to have to make a great speech to
:24:11. > :24:16.prove to my class that they are going to go above and beyond but
:24:17. > :24:22.this country. The sound certainly seem to favour that Mr Trump who has
:24:23. > :24:36.tapped into a sense of this is soon. This House was purchased $400,000.
:24:37. > :24:42.He has already cast his vote for Donald Trump. I need change. My
:24:43. > :24:47.agents work twice as hard to get paid twice as much. I told them that
:24:48. > :24:52.as soon as the Highlands in crisis to hit. I am not saying that is
:24:53. > :24:57.going to change immediately as soon as Trump gets elected, but I think
:24:58. > :25:00.my odds are better it by but a businessman in that position versus
:25:01. > :25:08.a career politician that has not got me anywhere so far winners has
:25:09. > :25:12.emerged. One person who got a good deal was Laura Richardson. She
:25:13. > :25:17.certainly won't be voting for Donald Trump. As a businessman, I still
:25:18. > :25:22.wouldn't trust his decisions, I think he would hire great people and
:25:23. > :25:26.get the right people in the room but Hillary Clinton would do just as
:25:27. > :25:31.good of a job and have experience as primary. I also hold a lot of the
:25:32. > :25:36.social issues that she prioritises as near to my heart. In this
:25:37. > :25:42.election the candidates message on the economy is very different.
:25:43. > :25:47.Hillary Clinton sounds and more of the note while Donald Trump points
:25:48. > :25:52.to those who were struggling as a sign of economic despair. Here, a
:25:53. > :26:02.swing state the economic winners and losers live side-by-side. I will be
:26:03. > :26:10.back with you in a couple of minutes time. In a couple of minutes we will
:26:11. > :26:15.be taking a look but the weather prospects for the whole of the
:26:16. > :26:16.British Isles and pushes on towards the
