7:01:02 > 7:01:04Nobody knew who this man was.

7:01:06 > 7:01:10We have got no identity documents, no indication where he's from.

7:01:10 > 7:01:11And any family.

7:01:13 > 7:01:16Until we identified him from an old high school picture.

7:01:18 > 7:01:22- That's Roger.- Are you sure? - No question about it.

7:01:22 > 7:01:26So how did an American with dementia, end up lost in England?

7:01:26 > 7:01:29This is a big, burly macho man, in tears,

7:01:29 > 7:01:33saying, "Who does this to their parents?"

7:01:33 > 7:01:35We uncover the shocking truth.

7:01:36 > 7:01:39Kevin, we need to find out what happened to your dad.

7:01:39 > 7:01:42Did you dump your father in England, Kevin?

7:01:42 > 7:01:45Of how an elderly man was dumped on the British care system

7:01:45 > 7:01:47by his family.

7:01:47 > 7:01:49Kevin, you're looking incredibly sinister,

7:01:49 > 7:01:53take your mask off and speak properly.

7:02:01 > 7:02:03Wow, look how far that is now.

7:02:05 > 7:02:08Look how far...

7:02:09 > 7:02:11Look at that fire...

7:02:11 > 7:02:13This man doesn't know who he is.

7:02:15 > 7:02:17And neither does anyone else.

7:02:21 > 7:02:24- Yes, thank you, yeah. - Yeah, it's good.

7:02:24 > 7:02:30- Yeah.- Great.- He has an American accent but was found with no ID.

7:02:30 > 7:02:34Dressed in brand-new clothes from Tesco.

7:02:34 > 7:02:39We have a person, we have a possible name, but nothing else.

7:02:39 > 7:02:43We have got no identity documents, no indication where he's from.

7:02:43 > 7:02:44And any family.

7:02:47 > 7:02:48When we filmed him last March,

7:02:48 > 7:02:53he'd been in this nursing home in Credenhill for four months.

7:02:55 > 7:02:59He'd only mentioned a full name once. Roger Curry.

7:03:02 > 7:03:07Everyone calls him Roger, but nobody knows if that's his real name.

7:03:11 > 7:03:14He was found close to the bus station in Hereford,

7:03:14 > 7:03:15and taken to hospital.

7:03:17 > 7:03:21We trawled through the CCTV, we've done a press appeal,

7:03:21 > 7:03:25we've also contacted the National Crime Agency,

7:03:25 > 7:03:28we have gone to Interpol. We've done a fingerprint search,

7:03:28 > 7:03:32done a DNA search that hasn't yielded any results.

7:03:32 > 7:03:33- None at all?- None at all.

7:03:35 > 7:03:40Doctors diagnosed dementia but physically Roger was in good shape.

7:03:41 > 7:03:45His nails were fine, his hair had been cut, his skin was impeccable.

7:03:45 > 7:03:46He'd been looked after.

7:03:46 > 7:03:50The first night that he came in, he kind of sat himself back

7:03:50 > 7:03:53in the chair and was quite happy to have

7:03:53 > 7:03:56a cup of tea and have something to eat and just sit and watch the TV.

7:03:57 > 7:04:01Roger's illness means he can't tell his story.

7:04:01 > 7:04:04But I want to get to the bottom of it.

7:04:08 > 7:04:10Was it snowing earlier on, did I hear you say?

7:04:12 > 7:04:16Yeah. It's smoking because...

7:04:16 > 7:04:20It's smoking because of the... Because of the fire?

7:04:24 > 7:04:29You speak with an accent from America, are you American?

7:04:29 > 7:04:30Five.

7:04:30 > 7:04:32Five?

7:04:32 > 7:04:36'I want to find out who really is, and how he ended up here.'

7:04:36 > 7:04:38Do you have any memories of your family?

7:04:49 > 7:04:54I can't imagine this is easy for you.

7:04:54 > 7:04:58Have you learnt anything about him, since he's come here?

7:04:58 > 7:05:03Nothing at all. He's a blank canvas. Completely blank.

7:05:05 > 7:05:07What happens if he is identified?

7:05:07 > 7:05:11And if he has another family and he has to leave here?

7:05:12 > 7:05:16It will be devastating. But then, you know, because the staff...

7:05:16 > 7:05:18We've adopted him.

7:05:18 > 7:05:23And for Roger, it's wonderful, but, you know, he's become our Roger and...

7:05:24 > 7:05:25Yeah...

7:05:27 > 7:05:29Roger, thank you very much.

7:05:29 > 7:05:33'Roger may have a family out there who are desperately searching for him.'

7:05:33 > 7:05:35You're a gentleman.

7:05:35 > 7:05:38'Or he may have been abandoned by somebody who doesn't want to

7:05:38 > 7:05:39'pay for his care.'

7:05:39 > 7:05:42- OK? - Yes, Kenneth.

7:05:44 > 7:05:46Are you doing OK?

7:05:46 > 7:05:48Oh, I hope so.

7:05:52 > 7:05:56There have been many stories about Roger in the press.

7:05:56 > 7:05:57But still, no answers.

7:06:00 > 7:06:04The night that I visit Roger, BBC Midlands puts out a fresh appeal.

7:06:06 > 7:06:08Who is this man?

7:06:08 > 7:06:12International efforts to find out are floundering.

7:06:12 > 7:06:16..Mention the name Roger Curry but no-one knows if that's correct.

7:06:19 > 7:06:22The story gets a big response from viewers.

7:06:24 > 7:06:28You can see from this BBC Facebook page, exactly how much interest this

7:06:28 > 7:06:31story has generated. So many different posts,

7:06:31 > 7:06:35so many different theories, as to exactly who Roger Curry really is.

7:06:35 > 7:06:38But there is one post here, among the dozens,

7:06:38 > 7:06:40that is particularly intriguing.

7:06:40 > 7:06:43It features a photograph this woman has found...

7:06:43 > 7:06:46Of a younger Roger Curry, and you know what?

7:06:46 > 7:06:48It really does look like him.

7:06:51 > 7:06:56The picture comes from a 1958 American high school yearbook.

7:06:56 > 7:06:59It's the same name, but is it the same man?

7:07:08 > 7:07:11This is the town of Edmonds in the far north-west of the USA.

7:07:16 > 7:07:19It's where the Roger Curry pictured in the yearbook

7:07:19 > 7:07:21went to high school.

7:07:30 > 7:07:34There's a woman here... Name is Helen...

7:07:34 > 7:07:41and she looks after the web pages for the class of 1958.

7:07:41 > 7:07:43Edmonds High School.

7:07:43 > 7:07:45- Hello, Helen?- Hi, yes. - How are you doing?

7:07:45 > 7:07:47- Darragh Macintyre, Lovely to meet you.- Nice to see you.

7:07:47 > 7:07:49Thank you very much for giving me some time.

7:07:49 > 7:07:52I'm anxious to hear what you've learned about Roger.

7:07:52 > 7:07:53Well, you might be able to help me too.

7:07:53 > 7:07:56Helen Gregory Nopson was in the same year as Roger.

7:07:56 > 7:07:59Oh, you've got the yearbook out. Yes.

7:07:59 > 7:08:01Her husband, Jim, was in the same class.

7:08:01 > 7:08:04- This must be Jim, is it?- This is Jim.- Jim, hello. How are you?

7:08:04 > 7:08:08- Lovely to meet you.- Actually a classmate of...- Roger's, as well?

7:08:09 > 7:08:13They've got the original 1958 high school yearbook.

7:08:15 > 7:08:18This is a picture of him right here.

7:08:20 > 7:08:21That the Roger Curry?

7:08:25 > 7:08:30Now, do you recognise this man from this photograph here?

7:08:30 > 7:08:36- I saw a resemblance.- Yeah.- I saw it in the jawline here. In his chin...

7:08:36 > 7:08:40- It almost looks like he's got the little...- Dimple.- Dimple on it.

7:08:40 > 7:08:42And you can see the dimple here, yes.

7:08:42 > 7:08:46- And a wide mouth.- Do you have any memory of him from high school?

7:08:47 > 7:08:50- Not really.- Not at all.

7:08:50 > 7:08:54- No-one's heard anything about him since we graduated.- No.

7:08:54 > 7:08:57- He was a mystery man even then? - Yeah.

7:08:59 > 7:09:05When we match the pictures up, the likeness is striking.

7:09:08 > 7:09:11Roger Curry's high school is long closed...

7:09:11 > 7:09:15But we found an address in Edmonds where we think he used to live.

7:09:17 > 7:09:22I think it's this house here. It's that small little house just there.

7:09:26 > 7:09:28That is the house...

7:09:30 > 7:09:34..that I believe young Roger Curry grew up in.

7:09:34 > 7:09:41Let's go and see if anyone here has any memory of Roger.

7:09:52 > 7:09:54It's definitely the right house.

7:09:54 > 7:09:58But I don't think anyone has been here for a long time. And if this...

7:09:58 > 7:10:00was Roger's home, of course...

7:10:01 > 7:10:04His connection here goes back more than 50 years.

7:10:08 > 7:10:11We've traced the Roger Curry from Edmonds and found

7:10:11 > 7:10:16he moved 1,000 miles down the West Coast to California.

7:10:21 > 7:10:23I'm on my way to LA.

7:10:31 > 7:10:36So, the key to unlocking this puzzle appears to be in Whittier,

7:10:36 > 7:10:38a suburb of Los Angeles.

7:10:38 > 7:10:40And that's where we're going right now.

7:10:47 > 7:10:50Whittier is often used as a backdrop for films.

7:10:50 > 7:10:52Like the Back To The Future movie.

7:10:56 > 7:10:58It's classic suburban America.

7:11:06 > 7:11:07The street I'm looking for

7:11:07 > 7:11:10is the picture of middle-class respectability.

7:11:15 > 7:11:20But one house stands out... Number 14817.

7:11:20 > 7:11:22It's been abandoned after a fire.

7:11:26 > 7:11:28This is Roger Curry's listed address.

7:11:32 > 7:11:35So, is he the man found lost in England?

7:11:38 > 7:11:40DOG BARKS

7:11:41 > 7:11:45- Hello.- Hi, how are you? - Jerry, isn't it?- Yes.

7:11:45 > 7:11:47Darragh Macintyre from the BBC.

7:11:47 > 7:11:50'I want to see if the neighbours recognise our Roger.'

7:11:51 > 7:11:54Can I show you these photographs?

7:11:54 > 7:11:58That's a photograph taken of Roger when he came into the hospital,

7:11:58 > 7:12:01this is him in the nursing home some time afterwards.

7:12:01 > 7:12:03- That's Roger, no question. - Are you sure?

7:12:03 > 7:12:06- Oh, no question about it. No doubt.- 100%?

7:12:06 > 7:12:09I am 100% sure that is Roger.

7:12:09 > 7:12:13- He looks quite well there.- He does. He looks real good, actually.

7:12:13 > 7:12:16- So, you are certain that that's him? - Oh, yes.

7:12:19 > 7:12:23So, the unknown man has finally been identified.

7:12:26 > 7:12:29Roger was a nurse and has a wife and two children.

7:12:33 > 7:12:35But how did he end up in England?

7:12:37 > 7:12:42Another neighbour tells us that Roger couldn't have got there alone.

7:12:43 > 7:12:46Could you imagine that he got on a jet plane and travelled to

7:12:46 > 7:12:48England of his own accord?

7:12:48 > 7:12:53Well, last time I saw him, he was in no condition to travel anywhere.

7:12:53 > 7:12:55He was, he was sick.

7:12:57 > 7:13:01I think he... They said Alzheimer's Or something along those lines.

7:13:02 > 7:13:05And it was last summer.

7:13:05 > 7:13:08And he didn't look like he could be travelling anywhere.

7:13:10 > 7:13:14Everybody we talk to around here, speaks fondly of Roger.

7:13:14 > 7:13:19I'd see him come and go from work. He would wear white scrubs.

7:13:19 > 7:13:21So, I knew he was a nurse.

7:13:21 > 7:13:24He just seemed like a very wonderful, kind family man.

7:13:26 > 7:13:29And I just had a very good feeling around him.

7:13:29 > 7:13:33But the more we learn, the darker this story becomes.

7:13:35 > 7:13:38Trouble and illness have haunted Roger's family.

7:13:40 > 7:13:45While he has dementia, his wife, Mary Jo, is also unwell.

7:13:47 > 7:13:52Their son, Kevin, acted as their carer in recent years.

7:13:52 > 7:13:55But not so long ago, he wasn't welcome at the family home.

7:13:58 > 7:14:01Their relationship has always been kind of...

7:14:02 > 7:14:07..volatile, if you want to call it. Kevin...

7:14:07 > 7:14:10You could hear him at all different hours of the night just...

7:14:10 > 7:14:13pounding on their door, trying to get in,

7:14:13 > 7:14:16screaming and yelling at them - profanities.

7:14:18 > 7:14:20We worried for their safety.

7:14:22 > 7:14:27In 2014, the Curry family home burned down in the middle of the night.

7:14:32 > 7:14:36No-one was at home at the time, but Roger and his wife had to move out.

7:14:44 > 7:14:50The neighbours didn't see Roger again for nine months.

7:14:50 > 7:14:53He was standing right out in the front yard here.

7:14:53 > 7:14:54But behind that fence?

7:14:54 > 7:14:57Oh, yeah, behind the fence and the gate was locked.

7:14:57 > 7:15:00Oh, yeah, and then he walked back to the back.

7:15:00 > 7:15:03And we were calling for him, but he wouldn't come out.

7:15:03 > 7:15:05He just wasn't responding to us.

7:15:05 > 7:15:07And then we started to get concerned because, you know...

7:15:07 > 7:15:09We thought he was in the alone.

7:15:09 > 7:15:11So I went over there and stepped over...

7:15:11 > 7:15:15I was able to step over on that side, then go to the back to see,

7:15:15 > 7:15:17and that's when I saw Mary Jo too.

7:15:18 > 7:15:21- Two of them were in the back?- Yep.

7:15:21 > 7:15:24Mary Jo was sleeping and Roger was wandering.

7:15:24 > 7:15:27Are you talking about Mary Jo sleeping outside?

7:15:27 > 7:15:30Oh, yes, on the patio. She was in a sleeping bag.

7:15:32 > 7:15:35Two elderly people with chronic illness,

7:15:35 > 7:15:39were left camping in the yard of a burnt-out house.

7:15:40 > 7:15:44Their son Kevin, had been bringing them food and

7:15:44 > 7:15:47he was suspected of locking them in behind the gate.

7:15:49 > 7:15:54The emergency services were called, and were shocked by what they found.

7:15:54 > 7:15:58They were talking together and they said they were here

7:15:58 > 7:16:02the night the house burnt down. And...he was...

7:16:02 > 7:16:03They were both in tears.

7:16:03 > 7:16:06There were several of them, but the ones I spoke to...

7:16:06 > 7:16:10He was in tears, I mean, this is a big, burly, you know,

7:16:10 > 7:16:13macho man, in tears, saying, "Who does this

7:16:13 > 7:16:15"to their parents?"

7:16:16 > 7:16:21Roger's wife told the police it was her idea, and nobody was prosecuted.

7:16:36 > 7:16:40Roger and his wife were locked in the yard just three months

7:16:40 > 7:16:45before he turned up lost in England. It looks suspicious.

7:16:47 > 7:16:52I want to talk to their son... But Kevin isn't returning my calls.

7:16:57 > 7:17:00It seems that Kevin is a complicated character.

7:17:00 > 7:17:04I've done a bit of digging and found that he has a criminal record.

7:17:04 > 7:17:06And I've also found that...

7:17:06 > 7:17:10a restraining order was taken against him 17 years ago...

7:17:10 > 7:17:11by his father.

7:17:14 > 7:17:17So, could Kevin be to blame for what happened to his dad?

7:17:21 > 7:17:24In America, old people are sometimes deserted

7:17:24 > 7:17:30because of the medical bills. It's known as "granny dumping".

7:17:31 > 7:17:34Did Kevin dump his father in England?

7:17:41 > 7:17:46He told me that he virtually exhausted all avenues trying

7:17:46 > 7:17:48to find a place to put him.

7:17:48 > 7:17:52And because, he said, Roger tended to act out physically, that a lot

7:17:52 > 7:17:55of places would not take him because he acted out physically, a lot.

7:17:57 > 7:18:01Our story is about to take another unexpected turn.

7:18:03 > 7:18:06My theory is that he got... Kevin...

7:18:06 > 7:18:11got overwhelmed by trying to find him help here, and couldn't find

7:18:11 > 7:18:12that help...

7:18:12 > 7:18:18'As we're talking, a car pulls up behind me.' Who's that there?

7:18:18 > 7:18:21- I believe that's Kevin. - Is that Kevin there now?

7:18:21 > 7:18:23I'm pretty sure it is and he's looking right at me

7:18:23 > 7:18:25and he has taken off.

7:18:25 > 7:18:28That's... Mary Jo in the passenger seat.

7:18:30 > 7:18:32- That's his mum in the passenger seat?- Yep.

7:18:32 > 7:18:34She didn't look good at all.

7:18:34 > 7:18:40That was his mum. Boy, he read that, didn't he? It really irritates me.

7:18:40 > 7:18:43I want to believe in people.

7:18:43 > 7:18:44HE LAUGHS

7:18:44 > 7:18:46All right.

7:18:49 > 7:18:51I'm calling for Kevin.

7:18:51 > 7:18:56Kevin, my name is Darragh Macintyre, I'm with the BBC. I just think...

7:18:57 > 7:19:00..we need to speak about your dad.

7:19:00 > 7:19:04And I'm just hoping that you may be able to chat to me

7:19:04 > 7:19:07and maybe help explain how...

7:19:08 > 7:19:11..your dad ended up in... in England.

7:19:15 > 7:19:20Kevin doesn't call me back and he doesn't respond to a letter, either.

7:19:20 > 7:19:24So I go to see Roger's daughter, Jeanette, instead.

7:19:27 > 7:19:30She doesn't want to be filmed but she tells me

7:19:30 > 7:19:32that she hasn't seen her dad in years.

7:19:42 > 7:19:45Just spent the best part of three hours talking to the...

7:19:45 > 7:19:49the daughter of Roger Curry, that's Jeanette.

7:19:49 > 7:19:54And well, firstly, she didn't have a clue about her dad ending up in...

7:19:54 > 7:19:57in England, and Hereford.

7:19:57 > 7:20:03She clearly thinks her brother Kevin is behind the transport of

7:20:03 > 7:20:07her dad across the Atlantic to England.

7:20:09 > 7:20:13We showed her the footage, we showed her...

7:20:13 > 7:20:16her dad in the care home.

7:20:16 > 7:20:19Showed her her dad talking to the staff and...

7:20:19 > 7:20:23walking about and eating his chocolate muffins and...

7:20:23 > 7:20:29she got quite emotional. She got quite emotional.

7:20:31 > 7:20:34But, you know what,

7:20:34 > 7:20:38her biggest concern was that he might be shipped out of...

7:20:38 > 7:20:40out of England and back here.

7:20:40 > 7:20:45As far as she is concerned, he's happy. And he's safe.

7:20:49 > 7:20:52Hello, Sergeant Bennett? Darragh Macintyre phoning...

7:20:52 > 7:20:54'It's time to let the police know that we have solved the

7:20:54 > 7:20:57'mystery of the unknown man.'

7:20:57 > 7:21:02We have, in fact, tracked down Roger Curry.

7:21:02 > 7:21:06And I can confirm that he is actually from

7:21:06 > 7:21:09a town called Whittier, outside of Los Angeles.

7:21:09 > 7:21:12I'll try and call you back later, bye-bye.

7:21:19 > 7:21:22Two days later, a man is arrested in England.

7:21:24 > 7:21:29American social services and the FBI join the investigation.

7:21:31 > 7:21:35Then in July, Roger Curry is taken from the nursing home where

7:21:35 > 7:21:37he's been staying for eight months...

7:21:39 > 7:21:42..and quietly flown back to the US.

7:21:56 > 7:22:02Three weeks ago, I went back to California. I want to find Kevin.

7:22:07 > 7:22:10I've been trying to talk to him for months.

7:22:12 > 7:22:14But he's a hard man to catch.

7:22:16 > 7:22:21'And when I finally see him at the family home, he disappears again.'

7:22:21 > 7:22:23Hello, Kevin.

7:22:23 > 7:22:27Darragh Macintyre from the BBC, Kevin, Kevin...

7:22:27 > 7:22:30I've been trying to contact you for a while, Kevin.

7:22:30 > 7:22:32I've written to you, I've phoned you.

7:22:33 > 7:22:36Kevin, did you dump your father in England?

7:22:40 > 7:22:41Kevin?

7:22:43 > 7:22:45KEVIN:

7:22:47 > 7:22:49Fair enough, Kevin.

7:22:52 > 7:22:56Kevin then agrees to answer questions, but not on camera.

7:23:04 > 7:23:06Well, I finally got to speak to Kevin.

7:23:07 > 7:23:12He did have something to say, but it didn't make an awful lot of sense.

7:23:12 > 7:23:15He says that he had nothing to do, whatsoever,

7:23:15 > 7:23:17with the abandonment of his father in England.

7:23:17 > 7:23:20He said his father became ill when they were visiting England on

7:23:20 > 7:23:24holiday, and that he asked a friend to take him to hospital.

7:23:26 > 7:23:28His account simply doesn't add up.

7:23:31 > 7:23:34'Why did he leave his dad in England for eight months?

7:23:36 > 7:23:38'And why won't he show his face?'

7:23:40 > 7:23:44Kevin, are you prepared to speak to me? On the record?

7:23:44 > 7:23:47We're going to be here for a couple of days, so we're happy to do it.

7:23:47 > 7:23:50At your convenience, properly, a sit-down interview.

7:23:51 > 7:23:54Kevin, can I tell you, you look incredibly sinister right now.

7:23:56 > 7:23:58KEVIN:

7:24:02 > 7:24:06We're not stalking you, and we're not harassing you.

7:24:10 > 7:24:12And I left when you asked me to leave.

7:24:19 > 7:24:23Kevin, I put nothing in your mailbox other than a letter,

7:24:23 > 7:24:26in fact, I put two letters in your mailbox.

7:24:29 > 7:24:32Kevin, I did not go through your mail.

7:24:33 > 7:24:36Kevin, you're looking incredibly sinister,

7:24:36 > 7:24:39take your mask off and speak properly.

7:24:41 > 7:24:43Kevin, will you speak to us properly?

7:24:43 > 7:24:47Without your mask on? That's him going now.

7:24:49 > 7:24:51It's the strangest of getaways.

7:24:52 > 7:24:58Kevin drives off really slowly, he can't see where he's going.

7:25:00 > 7:25:02Well, that was extraordinary.

7:25:02 > 7:25:06Kevin throwing out all sorts of accusations, but importantly,

7:25:06 > 7:25:12crucially, not prepared to properly account for how his

7:25:12 > 7:25:1576-year-old dad, very ill with dementia,

7:25:15 > 7:25:17ended up abandoned in Britain.

7:25:23 > 7:25:28So, where is Roger now? The authorities won't tell me.

7:25:28 > 7:25:31But I managed to find his new nursing home

7:25:31 > 7:25:35and I walked straight in without anyone asking who I am.

7:25:36 > 7:25:38I'm shocked by how Roger looks.

7:25:40 > 7:25:45The man I met here is unshaven, his hair looks dirty, maybe matted,

7:25:45 > 7:25:47he's wearing tracksuit bottoms,

7:25:47 > 7:25:50he's got runners with the laces untied...

7:25:50 > 7:25:53He's got a scar on the top of his head and the wound is taking

7:25:53 > 7:25:55its time to heal.

7:25:58 > 7:26:00The intimate level of care,

7:26:00 > 7:26:02the type of care he was getting at Credenhill,

7:26:02 > 7:26:03I don't he is getting here.

7:26:03 > 7:26:05I'm sure his basic needs are met,

7:26:05 > 7:26:08but he's even thinner than I remember him.

7:26:09 > 7:26:11He is diminished.

7:26:19 > 7:26:23'Roger's neighbours haven't been told where he is.'

7:26:24 > 7:26:28- I found Roger yesterday. - Oh, you did?

7:26:28 > 7:26:30Yeah, I did, yeah.

7:26:30 > 7:26:33And... Do you remember the photograph I showed you of Roger?

7:26:33 > 7:26:37Yeah, he was still a handsome man, you know. Yeah.

7:26:37 > 7:26:40He still looked, you know, like Roger.

7:26:41 > 7:26:44I saw him yesterday...in a care home not very far from here.

7:26:45 > 7:26:49When I went into the home, I nearly didn't recognise him. He is...

7:26:50 > 7:26:52He is a different man, almost.

7:26:53 > 7:26:56He had a wound on his head which hadn't healed.

7:26:58 > 7:27:02He wasn't shaven, his hair looked like it hadn't been washed.

7:27:02 > 7:27:05It makes really sad. He's, um...

7:27:07 > 7:27:10And to think, you know...

7:27:10 > 7:27:15I'm hoping my family has a little bit more compassion than that

7:27:15 > 7:27:17they are doing with him.

7:27:18 > 7:27:22I wonder whether...identifying Roger, in fact,

7:27:22 > 7:27:23has done him any good at all?

7:27:23 > 7:27:28Right. Right. He'd still be in England, being taken care of.

7:27:33 > 7:27:37Things do look better on a second visit to the nursing home.

7:27:37 > 7:27:38Roger has been cleaned up.

7:27:40 > 7:27:43But again, I walk in unchallenged,

7:27:43 > 7:27:45and there doesn't seem to be anything

7:27:45 > 7:27:47to protect Roger from wandering off.

7:27:55 > 7:28:00Roger's future is now being decided by the American courts.

7:28:00 > 7:28:04The Los Angeles authorities have taken control of his care.

7:28:06 > 7:28:09But today, Kevin and his mum are challenging that.

7:28:13 > 7:28:16Stop harassing me. Stop stalking me.

7:28:18 > 7:28:20The court makes no final decision.

7:28:22 > 7:28:25But the legal papers show that the authorities blame Kevin and

7:28:25 > 7:28:28his mother for what happened to Roger.

7:28:30 > 7:28:34This is what the Los Angeles authorities say happened...

7:28:34 > 7:28:38In late 2015, Roger Curry was taken surreptitiously to

7:28:38 > 7:28:42England by his wife and son, and then he was abandoned.

7:28:45 > 7:28:50An elderly and helpless man was dumped in Britain.

7:28:50 > 7:28:54And then his wife and son went for a holiday in Europe.

7:28:57 > 7:29:01We have uncovered the truth about Roger Curry.

7:29:03 > 7:29:07But this wasn't the ending that any of us wanted or expected.

7:29:10 > 7:29:13Roger is still facing a very uncertain future...

7:29:15 > 7:29:19..victim of a family who wanted him to disappear.
