0:00:15 > 0:00:17It's time to move on.

0:00:17 > 0:00:22It's time to look beyond the agreed Ireland that we created 14 years ago,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25beyond basic peace and stability.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28A new phase is opening up in our politics,

0:00:28 > 0:00:31a new phase to guarantee respect and equality

0:00:31 > 0:00:35to all our people and begin the difficult process

0:00:35 > 0:00:38of building peace and prosperity.

0:00:38 > 0:00:43For 40 years the SDLP has promoted the concepts of reconciliation,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45social justice and prosperity.

0:00:45 > 0:00:49They were the foundations for the party

0:00:49 > 0:00:53and for the Agreement that brought an end to the conflict.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56We all celebrate them today.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59But now, 15 years later, isn't it right to ask

0:00:59 > 0:01:02if enough of the vision has been delivered?

0:01:02 > 0:01:05In 2012 we welcome the political stability,

0:01:05 > 0:01:10but should we accept the continued log jam on parading,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12on victims, on education

0:01:12 > 0:01:14and on a shared housing and a shared future?

0:01:14 > 0:01:16The simple answer is no.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Peace and stability give us the opportunity to take charge of

0:01:19 > 0:01:21our own economic future.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24We have to look at the job creation potential

0:01:24 > 0:01:26of every single pound of public spending

0:01:26 > 0:01:29and the negative impact of every cutback.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32It's time the Executive focussed more on creating jobs

0:01:32 > 0:01:34and opportunities.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35After all, it's jobs

0:01:35 > 0:01:39and the economy that are going to form the foundations for the future.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41I truly believe that if my generation

0:01:41 > 0:01:42is to have a positive future

0:01:42 > 0:01:44then the political process needs to once and for all

0:01:44 > 0:01:47deal with the legacy of our negative past.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50There's a lot of talk about dealing with the past.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51I'm worried we're papering over it.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53We've got to face it.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55And deal with it so we can move on.

0:01:55 > 0:01:59When we make respect our starting point it has the potential

0:01:59 > 0:02:01to unlock many things,

0:02:01 > 0:02:06parading, reconciliation, finding the truth and dealing with the past.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10The ambition of the Good Friday Agreement is more than

0:02:10 > 0:02:12the very welcome stability,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15devolution and a united stand against terror.

0:02:15 > 0:02:19It is the full realisation of the values driven by the SDLP

0:02:19 > 0:02:21endorsed by the people of Ireland

0:02:21 > 0:02:24and we are far from achieving all of that potential.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27We need respect, we need fairness,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30and equality for the most vulnerable people

0:02:30 > 0:02:34in our society who are experiencing cuts in their lives at the moment.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38We stand up for the vulnerable and we stand by them.

0:02:38 > 0:02:43We will oppose these savage cuts coming from Westminster

0:02:43 > 0:02:48and we will oppose any attack on the welfare of our women, our children,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51our people with disabilities, or our senior citizens.

0:02:51 > 0:02:56I worry when I see the same old sectarianism rearing its head again.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00That's why it is time to outlaw sectarianism in the same way

0:03:00 > 0:03:03as we have done with racism.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06And can I remind you of the SDLP vision

0:03:06 > 0:03:10of a reconciled, prosperous, united Ireland,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12settled in peace?

0:03:12 > 0:03:14How can we ever really move on

0:03:14 > 0:03:16if we don't start to look at issues,

0:03:16 > 0:03:20issues like cross-border tourism on an all Ireland basis

0:03:20 > 0:03:23and improve our North-South capacity?

0:03:23 > 0:03:26The SDLP's vision is clear.

0:03:26 > 0:03:31It is about people sharing this island on a fair and equal basis.

0:03:31 > 0:03:36The violence that held progress back for years is now over.

0:03:36 > 0:03:43We must now unite people and build prosperity.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46The time has come to debate and construct a new, modern Ireland.

0:03:46 > 0:03:50We now have a golden opportunity and I want to see that happen.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54We're not happy with the lack of progress here.

0:03:56 > 0:03:59There is clearly a lack of delivery.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04But out of this will emerge a new phase

0:04:04 > 0:04:10in the politics of this island

0:04:10 > 0:04:15with at it's core, values of respect, equality

0:04:15 > 0:04:19and an ambition for all to prosper.

0:04:19 > 0:04:23SDLP values helped deliver us out of conflict.

0:04:23 > 0:04:31SDLP values will deliver again. It's time to move on.
