:01:40. > :01:41.Islamic State in Iraq has been long and hard.
:01:42. > :01:43.Iraqi forces have besieged Mosul, Iraq's second city,
:01:44. > :01:52.Last month, they captured its eastern region.
:01:53. > :01:56.Now the battle is on for the west, which has seen some of the most
:01:57. > :01:58.ferocious fighting between the two sides this week.
:01:59. > :02:00.Backed by British and American special forces, helicopter gunships
:02:01. > :02:02.now control the skies, but the road to the west
:02:03. > :02:05.is littered with bombs, and thousands of IS fighters remain
:02:06. > :02:19.Quentin Sommerville is the only international journalist

:02:26. > :02:28.and on the second day of their offensive, its troops

:02:32. > :02:34.All along this route, there are suspected roadside bombs
:02:35. > :02:37.Slowed to a crawl at times, bomb disposal technicians
:02:38. > :02:44.But above, they have full command of the skies.
:02:45. > :03:12.In their sights, a small IS-held town, Abu Saif.
:03:13. > :03:14.Emptied of people, every home there became a target.
:03:15. > :03:16.The town of Abu Saif is under attack.
:03:17. > :03:19.It's all that lies between these men and Mosul city proper.
:03:20. > :03:21.They managed to get here in record time and now,
:03:22. > :03:35.from the air, and from land, they're trying to take Abu Saif.
:03:36. > :03:39.For the first time, these forces have sight of Mosul.
:03:40. > :03:42.For Colonel Fallah Ali Wabdan, it is an important prize
:03:43. > :03:52.TRANSLATION: Abu Saif is very important for us because it's
:03:53. > :03:55.on high ground and that is very good in helping us win control
:03:56. > :04:03.Iraqi forces are using the latest warfare tools.
:04:04. > :04:05.During the battle, watch as this gunship strikes.
:04:06. > :04:07.American and British special forces are a mostly
:04:08. > :04:32.This motorbike was cut in half by an air strike.
:04:33. > :04:35.The corpses, believed to be two IS fighters, lie in the dirt.
:04:36. > :04:37.By the afternoon, Abu Saif was back in government hands,
:04:38. > :04:39.but it hadn't slipped fully from the militants' grip.
:04:40. > :04:41.They struck back, killing at least two soldiers.
:04:42. > :04:43.Still, this was another important Iraqi victory.
:04:44. > :04:45.But winning against the Islamic State comes at a cost.

:05:01. > :05:04.a centre for the dark trade in human trafficking for the past 20 years.
:05:05. > :05:07.Most of the victims are women forced into a life of prostitution
:05:08. > :05:11.It is estimated there are now around 35,000 Albanian prostitutes walking
:05:12. > :05:13.the streets of Europe, many of them trafficked as children.
:05:14. > :05:16.The Albanian authorities have been criticised for failing to crack down
:05:17. > :05:18.on the problem with just 18 convictions last year.
:05:19. > :05:20.Reeta Chakrabarti has been talking to some of the victims
:05:21. > :05:23.VOICEOVER: Blessed with natural beauty,
:05:24. > :05:27.Albania has, over two decades, built up a brutal industry
:05:28. > :05:31.TRANSLATION: I hate them and I want them to get
:05:32. > :05:34.Saya, now still a teenager, was just 14 when she was sold
:05:35. > :05:37.into a trafficking ring by a man she thought was her boyfriend.
:05:38. > :05:41.She was forced to sleep with several men a day and tells of a bewildering
:05:42. > :05:55.and terrifying world of abuse in which she could trust no-one.
:05:56. > :05:58.TRANSLATION: There were other girls there too, but I did not talk
:05:59. > :06:01.to them because you could not tell who was connected to whom.
:06:02. > :06:05.They would beat us up and not let us go out.
:06:06. > :06:07.To be controlled by someone, to be used as I was,
:06:08. > :06:11.She lives here, in a refuge for trafficked women
:06:12. > :06:14.But these are schoolgirls, and some already have
:06:15. > :06:18.Saya helped put some of hers behind bars.
:06:19. > :06:20.Several convicted traffickers are held here in Korce
:06:21. > :06:25.Some here are serving 20 years or more.
:06:26. > :06:27.The Albanian authorities let us talk to one of them.
:06:28. > :06:30.This man was sentenced to 15 years for trafficking children to Greece
:06:31. > :06:32.and forcing them to work as prostitutes or beggars.
:06:33. > :06:35.What made him, a married man with his own children,
:06:36. > :06:38.TRANSLATION: It was a time when everyone was doing
:06:39. > :06:41.You used a child in order to earn some money.
:06:42. > :06:47.What if that were my child and someone did that to them?
:06:48. > :06:50.Albania remains a poor country and in many areas a woman's role
:06:51. > :06:54.Young women in small-town Albania can be easy prey for grooomers,
:06:55. > :06:56.seduced by promises of a better life.
:06:57. > :06:58.That better life is invariably outside Albania, but Anna
:06:59. > :07:02.TRANSLATION: He said he was looking for a girl just like me
:07:03. > :07:10.She is now in a safe house in the UK.
:07:11. > :07:12.Duped into leaving home and then sold into prostitution,
:07:13. > :07:14.she weeps throughout our interview but insists she wants
:07:15. > :07:16.TRANSLATION: I was somewhere underground.
:07:17. > :07:19.I had no sense of the world around me.
:07:20. > :07:30.Anna is now supported in this safe house run by the Salvation Army.
:07:31. > :07:33.She has a baby, which gives her a reason to carry on.
:07:34. > :07:34.Her story should trigger alarm in authorities

:08:52. > :08:53.and in doing so, I realised how little I actually knew,
:08:54. > :08:56.in my early 20s, about the world, so for me,
:08:57. > :08:59.And my son changed my life, becoming a Cambodian
:09:00. > :09:03.There was never a plan that we should make this movie.
:09:04. > :09:06.I became filmmaker, and one day, I thought, what story do I feel
:09:07. > :09:10.And I felt that this war that happened 40 years ago,
:09:11. > :09:12.and what happened to these people, was not properly understood.
:09:13. > :09:15.And not just for the world but the people of the country.
:09:16. > :09:19.I felt that I wanted them to be able to reflect on it in a way
:09:20. > :09:22.that they could absorb, so it's through eyes of a child
:09:23. > :09:25.The Khmer Rouge, a radical Communist movement,
:09:26. > :09:27.vowed to take the country back to year zero.
:09:28. > :09:30.Millions were forced out of the cities in an attempt
:09:31. > :09:33.You could be killed for practising religion, showing emotions
:09:34. > :09:35.In four years, 2 million people died.
:09:36. > :09:38.Speaking to people here, I get the sense that they don't
:09:39. > :09:41.want to remember the past but they also can't forget it.
:09:42. > :09:43.There are 20,000 mass graves across this country,
:09:44. > :09:45.like these ones, a visual reminder of what this nation
:09:46. > :09:49.Hundreds of images of those who were tortured at
:09:50. > :09:52.More than 12,000 people were killed here.
:09:53. > :09:57.Angelina Jolie is keen to tell this story and focus on this
:09:58. > :10:00.But it has been difficult to keep the spotlight
:10:01. > :10:04.We know that an incident occurred, which led to your separation.
:10:05. > :10:06.We also know you have not said anything about this.
:10:07. > :10:10.Only that I don't want to say very much about that,
:10:11. > :10:14.except to say it was a very difficult time and we are a family
:10:15. > :10:17.and we will always be a family and we will get through this time
:10:18. > :10:34.and hopefully be a stronger family for it.
:10:35. > :10:36.Can I ask how you're coping? I'm...
:10:37. > :10:38.Many, many people find themselves in this situation.
:10:39. > :10:40.My family, we have all been through a difficult time.
:10:41. > :10:43.My focus is my children, our children, and my focus
:10:44. > :10:47.And as I said, we are and forever will be a family.
:10:48. > :10:49.But this moment is about Cambodia and remembering the time
:10:50. > :10:51.when this ancient culture was almost wiped out.
