:01:21. > :01:23.Life in a Syrian refugee camp is pretty tough

:01:24. > :01:25.but if you are disabled, it is even tougher.

:01:26. > :01:28.It is thought nearly a third of refugees

:01:29. > :01:30.and camps in Jordan suffer a disability of some sort.

:01:31. > :01:34.Many have lost limbs or have serious health

:01:35. > :01:42.The Jordanian government has said it is overstretched and under

:01:43. > :01:45.resourced to look after the most vulnerable.

:01:46. > :01:48.Mickey Fox has been to one of the main refugee camps in Jordan

:01:49. > :01:51.to find out what day-to-day life is like for them.

:01:52. > :01:59.It is estimated that of the 80,000 Syrian refugees here,

:02:00. > :02:06.24,000 have a disability or serious health condition.

:02:07. > :02:08.Five-year-old Malik is slowly getting used to walking

:02:09. > :02:16.She lost her left leg when her home in Syria was bombed last year.

:02:17. > :02:21.She is still in pain but she is safe.

:02:22. > :02:23.How difficult is it for you as a mum in this

:02:24. > :02:31.If you come and see our place and our caravan, they are not fit

:02:32. > :02:38.God knows I wish that we had all died rather

:02:39. > :02:41.than live here and go through what we are going through.

:02:42. > :02:46.Getting around this camp the size of the city is difficult.

:02:47. > :02:49.Wheelchairs are seen as a luxury and the mobility

:02:50. > :03:07.80% of all the refugees in Jordan live in the community,

:03:08. > :03:19.This area is known as the Palestinian camp.

:03:20. > :03:22.This man recently had a stroke and cannot leave his home

:03:23. > :03:26.Since fleeing Syria with his wife and children, the only apartment

:03:27. > :03:31.For six months, he could not leave his home look after his family.

:03:32. > :03:33.But thanks to help from a charity, he is

:03:34. > :03:37.Once you are isolated in that way, you are so much more reliant

:03:38. > :03:39.on your neighbours or if you are lucky, your family.

:03:40. > :03:41.Their physical condition, coupled with extreme economic

:03:42. > :03:43.financial challenges leads to much greater

:03:44. > :03:50.The recovery process can be a long one and many will need

:03:51. > :03:55.ongoing support for the rest of their lives.

:03:56. > :03:57.But since 2014, Syrian refugees are no longer eligible for free

:03:58. > :04:02.secondary health care, like physiotherapy and prosthetics.

:04:03. > :04:05.With around 1.4 million now living in Jordan,

:04:06. > :04:08.the government says that without more funding

:04:09. > :04:11.from the international community, the most

:04:12. > :04:21.You need to look at the interest of Jordanians,

:04:22. > :04:25.vis-a-vis the interest of non-Jordanians who are living in

:04:26. > :04:29.As a country, as a government, our priority is serving

:04:30. > :04:33.These young Syrian men don't have much but they do have each

:04:34. > :04:38.They meet at this community Centre once a week.

:04:39. > :04:41.Their lives have been changed for ever but they

:04:42. > :04:45.resilient, they don't want sympathy, they what change.

:04:46. > :05:12.And despite everything, they won't be beaten.

:05:13. > :05:14.It is just months before Brazil hosts this years Olympics

:05:15. > :05:19.but the country is facing a major political crisis.

:05:20. > :05:22.Pressure is growing on the embattled president after the biggest party

:05:23. > :05:24.in Brazil decided to leave her ruling coalition.
