:00:31. > :00:41.We're live around the country, as Scotland plays host to three big

:01:03. > :01:07.Police to examine specific claims of phone hacking by the News Of The
:01:07. > :01:10.World. It comes after a dossier was handed to the force yesterday,
:01:10. > :01:20.containing a list of names of people in Scotland who were
:01:20. > :01:21.
:01:21. > :01:25.allegedly targeted. David Henderson reports.
:01:25. > :01:29.For years, Andy Coulson put the rich and famous under the spotlight.
:01:30. > :01:33.Today, it has been his turn. Detectives arrived at his house in
:01:33. > :01:39.south London while he was under arrest over claims of corruption
:01:39. > :01:43.and phone hacking. He gave evidence at Tommy Sheridan's trial, and in
:01:43. > :01:50.court, said he knew nothing of payments made to corrupt police
:01:50. > :01:57.officers. Today, that claim would be challenged by detectives. Why?
:01:57. > :02:03.Will, in June e-mails were discovered at News International,
:02:03. > :02:07.showing journalists requesting payments of 130,000 being made to
:02:07. > :02:11.police the sensitive information. This was over a seven-year period,
:02:11. > :02:17.and for most of that time, Andy Coulson was editor of the News Of
:02:17. > :02:20.The World. Yesterday, Tommy Sheridan's lawyer and a senior MP
:02:20. > :02:24.presented a list of names to police of people they claimed had their
:02:24. > :02:30.phones hacked by the News Of The World. Today, the Crown Office

:02:41. > :02:44.account, we were told this was just an English thing, but it has been
:02:45. > :02:48.happening in Scotland for a long time. A public inquiry will now be
:02:48. > :02:52.held into the scandal. The Prime Minister, announcing the move in
:02:52. > :02:57.Downing Street this morning. Everything that happened is going
:02:57. > :03:03.to be investigated. The witnesses will be questioned by a judge under
:03:03. > :03:07.oath. And no stone will be left unturned. But does that include
:03:07. > :03:12.Scotland? There are concerns an inquiry by a judge in England may
:03:12. > :03:17.focus only on the News Of The World's activities of there, and
:03:17. > :03:21.not on what has happened here. seems like some people in Scotland
:03:21. > :03:25.have been drawn into this, even though it was centred in London,
:03:25. > :03:30.and therefore, it there has to be an appreciation that standards have
:03:30. > :03:34.to apply it to the press in Scotland as well as elsewhere.
:03:34. > :03:39.Tonight, detectives removed a computer from Andy Coulson's home,
:03:39. > :03:42.along with bags of files and papers. A major investigation is now
:03:42. > :03:46.gathering pace. A woman has been cleared of
:03:46. > :03:48.murdering her lover's wife. At the High Court in Edinburgh the judge,
:03:48. > :03:52.Lord Brailsford, ruled there wasn't enough evidence to convict Rita
:03:52. > :03:55.Heyster of killing Carol Jarvis. The mother-of-four was found dead,
:03:55. > :03:59.taped up in a blanket under the floor of her house in Bathgate in
:03:59. > :04:03.West Lothian. Rita Heyster had been having an affair with Carol's
:04:03. > :04:09.husband and lived in a hut in their garden. She still faces charges of
:04:09. > :04:11.trying to cover up the death. Ms Heyster denies the charges.
:04:11. > :04:15.Dozens of homes in Edinburgh have been flooded after heavy rain

:05:00. > :05:06.the scene a couple of hours on. But earlier, things were much, much
:05:06. > :05:10.worse. This is the same area a couple of hours earlier. This
:05:10. > :05:16.picture, from a well known social network side, shows the whole area
:05:17. > :05:21.under water. Some residents arrive home to find fire crews trying to
:05:21. > :05:26.pump water from their homes, while other -- others simply let to stay
:05:26. > :05:31.with friends until the waters subsided. When they do, the damage

:05:52. > :05:57.we had to keep going. How do you pay for the repairs? That a very
:05:57. > :06:06.good question! Mini parked cars were inundated, too. And even
