:01:32. > :01:42.remain unclear. A brave Highlander comes home. Rifle man Scott McLaren

:01:42. > :01:47.

:01:47. > :01:52.is saluted by a standard bearers from the Royal British Legion.

:01:52. > :02:01.Members of them came to carry their friend and colleague on the last

:02:01. > :02:10.part of his journey. His time as a Highlander cut all too short.

:02:10. > :02:16.talent was only just beginning to shine. It was remarkable to see him

:02:16. > :02:23.carrying the heaviest of Lords without complaint, just a smile.

:02:23. > :02:29.was just 20 years old. He had been in the Army for less than two years.

:02:29. > :02:39.Until then he had lived inside fell with his parents and two younger

:02:39. > :02:44.brothers and sisters. He always pushed himself. He tried the best -

:02:44. > :02:49.- to be the best he could be. died in mysterious circumstances.

:02:49. > :02:54.He went missing on his on from money to a checkpoint in Helmand

:02:54. > :02:59.and was found several hours later with what was believed to be

:02:59. > :03:05.gunshot wounds. The Taliban claimed responsibility but there is no

:03:05. > :03:11.proof of this. An international investigation is under way. Today

:03:11. > :03:15.was all about remembering a young man who made his Peers proud.

:03:15. > :03:22.boat he was not in the battalion for long he definitely left his

:03:22. > :03:28.mark. Fit, tireless, a great character, he was a true friend to

:03:28. > :03:35.many. One operations in Afghanistan he was calm under pressure,

:03:35. > :03:40.dedicated and committed to the cause. A final farewell from his

:03:40. > :03:46.comrades. The majority of his battalion are still on duty in

:03:46. > :03:53.Helmand. They held their own memorial for him today. I young man

:03:53. > :03:59.lost so early doing the job he loved. Police say there has been a

:03:59. > :04:04.good response India appealed for information about the murder of a

:04:04. > :04:09.brother and sister in Helensburgh at the weekend. Door-to-door

:04:09. > :04:14.inquiries are continuing. The died after fire swept through their home

:04:14. > :04:22.early on Sunday morning. Our reporter is in Helensburgh for us

:04:22. > :04:32.tonight. What is the condition of Mr and Mrs Shah Kivu were in the

:04:32. > :04:33.

:04:33. > :04:39.house at the time? -- Mrs Sharkey. We are told they are critical but

:04:39. > :04:45.stable. Mr Sharkey has been told now that his son and daughter have

:04:45. > :04:51.died. Both parents had been heavily sedated since being rescued from

:04:51. > :04:56.the flat. And how is the investigation itself going? There

:04:56. > :05:01.are more than 50 officers working on this murder case now. They have

:05:01. > :05:07.been doing door-to-door inquiries and also say they have had some

:05:07. > :05:12.very valuable calls to the incident room. Police are adamant that the

:05:12. > :05:18.answers to what went on here will lie in the local community. A

:05:18. > :05:24.couple of months ago Thomas Sharkey senior was stabbed at the house. A

:05:24. > :05:31.man has been arrested and charged in relation with that very serious

:05:31. > :05:37.assault. Thomas Sharkey is a local businessman. They will look at

:05:37. > :05:45.business dealings and any family background issues. The police crime

:05:45. > :05:53.stoppers the team have put up a reward of 10,000 for information

:05:53. > :05:57.on what happened here at the weekend. The public are clearly

:05:57. > :06:03.horrified with what they have seen happen in the neighbourhood. They

:06:03. > :06:09.want to try to help their community to get over this. If anyone else

:06:09. > :06:14.has any information I would seriously ask them to contact crime

:06:14. > :06:22.stoppers. It seems that Bridget, the young eight year-old girl who

:06:22. > :06:29.died here at the weekend died just after she was taken to hospital.

:06:29. > :06:34.She was not even supposed to send - - spend the night here. She was

:06:34. > :06:39.supposed to have a sleep over with a friend but came home because she

:06:39. > :06:44.could not settle. Bridget was a very popular girl at the local

:06:44. > :06:48.primary school. Any friends of hers who feel they need help when they

:06:48. > :06:55.return to school, they will be laying on counselling for any of

:06:56. > :07:02.her friends to feel they may benefit from that. 12 people have

:07:02. > :07:09.been rescued from an island on the Pentland Firth after the ball broke

:07:09. > :07:17.down in a sea cave. All are said to be fit and well. -- after their

:07:17. > :07:24.boat broke down. Also, we are live at the Royal Yacht Britannia in

:07:24. > :07:29.Leith. In sport it is all about Europe. Hearts fly out to Hungary

:07:29. > :07:34.and one player is hoping to join the squad after passport issues. We

:07:34. > :07:38.also meet with Malmo who are in relaxed mood ahead of their

:07:38. > :07:43.Champions' League qualifier with Rangers at Ibrox. Scottish

:07:43. > :07:53.universities will be adversely and unduly affected by UK Government

:07:53. > :07:55.

:07:55. > :07:59.plans to reduce these as for foreign students. -- these as. Just

:07:59. > :08:09.a few students left at Glasgow University during the summer

:08:09. > :08:14.

:08:14. > :08:19.holidays. -- visas. There could be even fewer if these are limited.

:08:19. > :08:23.think that would be a shame, the quality of education here is very

:08:23. > :08:29.good. There are lots of people from different countries and different

:08:29. > :08:36.backgrounds. It is very good. Scotland could also miss out

:08:36. > :08:41.financially. 11 % of all students in Scotland are outside the EU, in

:08:41. > :08:50.St Andrews the make-up almost one- third of the role. At Heriot-Watt

:08:50. > :08:57.48 % of graduates are from overseas. Glasgow Caledonian had its licence

:08:57. > :09:03.to sponsor foreign students suspended in April after 150

:09:03. > :09:08.Filipino nursing students were found working almost full time.

:09:08. > :09:12.Some believe these proposals go too far. We appreciate the want to

:09:12. > :09:18.restrict numbers and we are sympathetic to that but we feel

:09:18. > :09:25.this is putting at risk a whole number of university courses and

:09:25. > :09:30.the financial viability of universities themselves. The nature

:09:30. > :09:36.of Scottish Higher Education is that our degrees are longer so

:09:36. > :09:41.restricting the time that students can stay disproportionately

:09:41. > :09:50.disadvantages Scottish universities. While we Eddie very strongly with

:09:51. > :09:55.the recommendation to extend flexibility. The calls for a

:09:55. > :09:59.rethink are falling on deaf ears. Today be immigration minister said

:09:59. > :10:05.that changes to student visa inquiries would not have a

:10:05. > :10:11.detrimental effect on Scotland's universities and colleges. Attacks

:10:11. > :10:16.office worker who hijacked a woman's identity and invented four

:10:16. > :10:22.children to fraudulent reclaim 90,000 in benefits has been jailed

:10:22. > :10:28.for four years. She began claiming a stranger's benefits after moving

:10:28. > :10:32.into the woman's former home. A soldier has been found guilty of

:10:32. > :10:39.supplying cocaine after he had tens of thousands of pounds of the truck

:10:39. > :10:43.sent to his barracks. The man, originally from Nigeria, had his

:10:43. > :10:49.cousin sending cocaine to them at barracks. He was caught when Border

:10:49. > :10:58.Agency officials examined the package which contained a leaking

:10:58. > :11:03.highlighter pens. A man who was involved in a serious road accident

:11:03. > :11:08.just an hour before his wife was found murdered has awoken from a

:11:08. > :11:12.coma. Police are waiting to interview 45-year-old Neil coming

:11:12. > :11:18.about the death of his wife Jane who was found stabbed to death at

:11:18. > :11:24.their home just over a week ago. Detectives have been waiting to

:11:24. > :11:28.speak to Neil coming since he was taking here to Dundee's Ninewells

:11:28. > :11:36.hospital after being involved in a serious road accident. That crash

:11:36. > :11:44.involved his car and a lorry and it left him in a coma. It was soon

:11:44. > :11:49.after that they travel to the home he shared with his wife, Jane, and

:11:49. > :11:55.their children. When the police got there they discovered inside the

:11:55. > :11:59.property her body lying dead. Then they launched an inquiry into the

:11:59. > :12:09.circumstances of her death. The neighbourhood is still shocked by

:12:09. > :12:15.what happened and it has now become a murder inquiry. Police believe

:12:15. > :12:20.the crash and the murder of Jean coming is linked. It will be some

:12:20. > :12:29.time before they are able to speak to him, it is understood he has

:12:29. > :12:35.made progress, having emerged from a coma, but he is still sedated and

:12:35. > :12:42.cannot be interviewed yet. Medical staff do not believe he will be in

:12:42. > :12:46.a fit State to speak to police for another week at least. Police say

:12:46. > :12:50.they are seriously concerned for a 29-year-old woman who has gone

:13:57. > :14:05.before, they will be toasting their impending nuptials at another Royal

:14:05. > :14:12.venue and our reporter is there tonight. You can guess what is his.

:14:12. > :14:18.We understand the Royal got will host a private ceremony for the

:14:18. > :14:22.reception between 7:00pm and midnight. -- a royal yacht.

:15:02. > :15:11.invited to the Royal DEC for music and dancing with carriages at

:15:11. > :15:18.midnight. The police had been planning this event since March. It

:15:18. > :15:23.is reportedly costing 500,000 from the policing budget. This is a

:15:23. > :15:27.private wedding. It just so happens that they have a certain amount of

:15:28. > :15:34.personality and have famous family and friends. It is a situation we

:15:34. > :15:38.are reduced to and had planned in advance. It is a short distance

:15:38. > :15:43.back to the palace for the reception afterwards but consumer t

:15:43. > :15:47.-- security concerns and the weather means we will only find out

:15:47. > :15:52.if they will walk the distance. Businesses and local residents have

:15:52. > :15:59.been assured destruction will be kept to a minimum. For it is a

:15:59. > :16:05.great thing from -- for the street. People will come from everywhere.

:16:05. > :16:09.Not just local people. It will be busy but I am sure if they don't

:17:25. > :17:34.their chances. The Malmo players looked relaxed as

:17:34. > :17:40.they return to their hotel after a walk round Glasgow's Park. Could

:17:40. > :17:47.they match fitness be an advantage? If we hope so. We are in the best

:17:47. > :17:57.shape at the moment. I think the players of Glasgow will be even

:17:57. > :18:02.

:18:02. > :18:08.more shocked. If we try to score a goal and keep a clean sheet, that

:18:08. > :18:12.would of course be a very good result for us. At the same time, it

:18:12. > :18:20.is the best out of two games and that is the most important. For how

:18:20. > :18:23.many my elbow -- Malmo fans can you get in a taxi? They tried to tour

:18:23. > :18:28.the city before heading to the game. Their fans had been enjoying the

:18:28. > :18:38.good weather here in Glasgow today. They have tasted the Scottish

:18:38. > :18:39.

:18:39. > :18:47.Football cuisine also. What fare will be experience this evening?

:18:48. > :18:57.expect to lose. Why? Glasgow is a better team. 2-1 to Malmo or maybe

:18:57. > :19:02.1-1. This is where we belong. We are doing it again in Europe. We

:19:02. > :19:07.have a good chance to go on. Rangers' last qualifier was in

:19:07. > :19:11.Lithuania three years ago. They lost out then so they don't want a

:19:11. > :19:21.repeat against the Swedish champions.

:19:50. > :19:56.we play as well as we did on Saturday, we have a chance of

:19:56. > :20:05.winning. The most important thing is you never know when you go into

:20:05. > :20:14.these things how it will pan out. We believe we are good enough to go

:20:14. > :20:19.there and get a result and finish the job. Celtic midfielder Ehud,

:20:19. > :20:24.Efrain Juarez, is appearing on loan. He would be knocking on the

:20:24. > :20:29.manager's door seeking assurances for regular first team football.

:20:29. > :20:33.Anthony Stokes is hoping to play tomorrow. While he started against

:20:33. > :20:41.Hibs, scoring the first goal, he says he is not taking anything for

:20:41. > :20:48.granted. Looks good so far. I started up front the other day. I

:20:48. > :20:52.can try and score goals and work as hard as I can. I left it where it

:20:52. > :20:58.was at the end of last season and I knew there were plays coming in. I

:20:58. > :21:02.have to work hard, there is not much more I can do. Dundee United

:21:02. > :21:07.manager, Peter Houston, says David Goodwillie must think carefully

:21:07. > :21:11.about his future as transfer speculation mounts. 10 clubs have

:21:12. > :21:16.expressed an interest in the 22- year-old Scotland international who

:21:56. > :22:01.There is disappointing news today about the lack of growth in the UK

:22:01. > :22:07.economy but it is not all doom and gloom. One group of entrepreneurs

:22:07. > :22:12.here are enjoying rapid growth and are having fun while they are at it.

:22:12. > :22:22.Douglas Fraser has been finding out more.

:22:22. > :22:23.
