:00:18. > :00:22.Good evening from Reporting Scotland. Tonight, unemployment is
:00:22. > :00:27.up by 1,000. The first time it has risen since last autumn. The number
:00:27. > :00:31.of people in work is also up. Full analysis ahead.
:00:31. > :00:35.For Brad Pitt is in Glasgow and Glasgow comes out for Brad Pitt. We
:00:35. > :00:41.are live in the centre with the stargazers.

:00:51. > :00:56.believe absolutely she will be found and I will see her.

:01:05. > :01:09.Unemployment in Scotland has risen for the first time in nearly one
:01:09. > :01:14.year. It has gone up by 1,000. There was a rise in the number of
:01:14. > :01:17.people in work between May and June. Could this be a turn for the worse?
:01:18. > :01:21.According to the job market survey in April, May and June 1,000 more
:01:21. > :01:27.people were looking for work than during the previous three months.
:01:27. > :01:29.That takes the total up to 209,000 - the first rise since last autumn.
:01:29. > :01:36.To put it another way, the number claiming Jobseeker's Allowance,
:01:36. > :01:39.that was up 2,600 last month to nearly 145,000. On both those
:01:39. > :01:42.counts, the whole of the UK has seen surprisingly big rises in
:01:42. > :01:48.today's figures. Scotland can take some hope from the increased number
:01:48. > :01:52.of people in jobs - up by 24,000. That is in contrast with the fall
:01:52. > :01:55.in employment south of the border. One sector that explains why there
:01:55. > :02:04.is positive job growth in Scotland is energy, where big investment is

:02:44. > :02:49.Central Scotland. Over this decade, that means 1500 new recruits of all

:02:53. > :03:00.offered a job as a technician with Scottish Power. I have been with
:03:00. > :03:04.them since then. I have been here for two years. The plan is to build
:03:04. > :03:07.new links with turbines and customers. It means to deliver
:03:07. > :03:13.capacity for exporting power to England and importing electricity
:03:13. > :03:18.when the wind drops. We are going through an investment boom in this
:03:18. > :03:22.industry. None of that will happen without investment in networks
:03:22. > :03:26.because that is what is required to make it happen. Despite a weak
:03:26. > :03:30.economy, energy is one of sector with strong prospects for the First
:03:30. > :03:33.Minister wants to see more action. There's a clear message I am
:03:34. > :03:37.sending to the Chancellor, there has to be something about capital
:03:37. > :03:41.investment, we need more of it. We need more access for smaller
:03:41. > :03:47.companies and to grow economic security. We need to protect --
:03:47. > :03:51.protect people from high price rises. We cannot see the recovery
:03:51. > :03:56.blown off course. There is a lot buffeting the economy this summer.

:04:51. > :04:55.situation where we have a quarter of a tonne to have a turn on the

:04:59. > :05:04.What exactly does this plan to stop the leak involve?
:05:04. > :05:08.At the moment, there is just a small amount coming out into the
:05:08. > :05:13.North Sea. The plan is to take that one, to stretch of pipeline where
:05:13. > :05:18.the leak is, that his four feet above the seabed, that has been
:05:18. > :05:22.raised to that level, how, we do not know, and lower it back down.

:05:53. > :05:57.likely to happen? Shell's plan is to do this over the next 24 hours.
:05:57. > :06:01.They do not have the final say. There is a risk assessment going on
:06:01. > :06:05.at the moment. The Government's representative, when he is
:06:05. > :06:10.satisfied the risk is minimised, will say, you can go ahead. If he
:06:10. > :06:15.says no, they will have to go back to the drawing board and that leak
