:00:16. > :00:18.Good evening. The rate at which gas is leaking from Total's abandoned

:00:18. > :00:21.Elgin platform is decreasing according to the oil company.

:00:21. > :00:24.Meanwhile, a team of scientists has set off to assess the environmental

:00:24. > :00:34.impact of the leak, which was detected 12 days ago. Kevin Keane

:00:34. > :00:35.

:00:35. > :00:43.reports. The first pictures of a Mormon to

:00:43. > :00:49.toddle's Elgin platform was evacuated. Several helicopters were

:00:49. > :00:53.moved -- for removed around 200 workers. Today, the Environment

:00:53. > :00:58.Secretary met a doddle for a progress report and was told they

:00:58. > :01:06.are still working on a planet to plug the well head with heavy mud

:01:06. > :01:11.and drill a relief well. Resources are being deployed to stop the gas

:01:11. > :01:15.leak. We want to see that happen as soon as possible. But it has to be

:01:15. > :01:25.done in a safe and practical way. But at least we now have a

:01:25. > :01:26.

:01:26. > :01:30.timetable which is a weak -- one week to 10 days. This new image

:01:30. > :01:40.shows that the gas coming through walls on either side of the pipe.

:01:40. > :01:44.

:01:44. > :01:48.The company says that the writ of escape is finally decreasing.

:01:48. > :01:54.Scientists on board this show will be monitoring their environmental

:01:54. > :01:59.impact of the leak. The it was then the next three days collecting

:01:59. > :02:04.samples of water, sediment and with the life. They then will be brought

:02:04. > :02:13.back to shore for testing. Some of the initial work will take place on

:02:13. > :02:17.board labs. Today, taught not released this video for the French

:02:17. > :02:25.media showing yesterday's mission to send workers back onto the

:02:25. > :02:30.platform to carry out survey work. They say access routes were clear

:02:30. > :02:40.of gas and planned to make several return trips during the next few

:02:40. > :02:41.

:02:41. > :02:43.days. An 8-year-old boy who was killed in

:02:43. > :02:47.an accident on a farm in South Lanarkshire yesterday has been

:02:47. > :02:49.named as Charles Kimm. It is thought he died after a 4x4 with a

:02:49. > :02:52.trailer struck him while reversing through a gate in Symington.

:02:52. > :02:55.Emergency services were called, but the boy died at the scene. An

:02:55. > :02:57.inquiry is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding

:02:57. > :03:00.his death. The parents of an aid worker who

:03:00. > :03:03.was killed in Afghanistan after being taken hostage have travelled

:03:03. > :03:06.to the country for the first time since her death. Linda Norgrove was

:03:06. > :03:09.killed during a failed mission to free her in October 2010. Her

:03:09. > :03:17.parents visited projects funded through a foundation they set up in

:03:17. > :03:23.her memory. Catriona Renton reports. Linda Norgrove and grew up on Isle

:03:23. > :03:27.of Lewis. Her love of travel and adventure to go to Afghanistan. Her

:03:27. > :03:35.parents have just returned from a country where their daughter died.

:03:35. > :03:38.Mixed emotions. Visiting their, meeting up with her friends and

:03:38. > :03:44.colleagues, people who themselves were quite emotional about what

:03:44. > :03:52.happened to her. It was something that I am glad we did, but it was

:03:52. > :03:57.difficult. Linda Norgrove was an aid worker. But in 2010, she was

:03:57. > :04:02.taken hostage and was killed when a rescue attempt went wrong. She was

:04:02. > :04:10.committed to working out there and trying to help people. I can

:04:10. > :04:16.understand why. She would have been moved by the poverty and the

:04:16. > :04:21.difficulties that people face on a daily basis. She was 36 years old

:04:21. > :04:25.when she died. But her parents are determined to keep her memory alive

:04:25. > :04:30.through the charitable foundation they have set up in her name.

:04:31. > :04:36.first project we visited was the Afghan children's Circus, teaching

:04:36. > :04:45.circus skills it to children and also drama. It was great to see

:04:45. > :04:50.children enjoy themselves in a place where there is razor wire

:04:50. > :04:58.everywhere outside. It can be quite miserable, Afghanistan. But Afghan

:04:58. > :05:04.these are very much like us. They won the same kind of thing that we

:05:04. > :05:07.do, security, peace and quiet to bring their families up in.

:05:07. > :05:10.The Rangers manager Ally McCoist says he is not surprised the club

:05:10. > :05:13.could owe its creditors up to 134 million. The Ibrox side could be

:05:13. > :05:16.liable for up to 93 million to the tax man. Among hundreds of other

:05:16. > :05:23.creditors is a raft of small businesses and, as Chris McLaughlin

:05:23. > :05:30.reports, many of them are not expecting to get their money back.

:05:30. > :05:39.This local newsagent is one of a number of companies owed cash by

:05:39. > :05:43.Rangers, around 600. For the smaller creditors, the pain is very

:05:43. > :05:51.real. The director of one company who did not want to be identified

:05:52. > :05:55.is furious and told BBC Scotland, Rangers used to be good, who would

:05:55. > :06:02.have thought it would come to this? I do not expect to get any money

:06:02. > :06:06.back. Sadly, that is not unusual in a case of insolvency. If you are a

:06:06. > :06:12.small, unsecured creditor, you will wait a long time to get anything

:06:12. > :06:18.I'd might get nothing. It is very demoralising. How would you feel?

:06:18. > :06:22.The players and coaching staff were going around their usual business

:06:22. > :06:29.and the man in charge of football insists that the debt bill came as

:06:29. > :06:39.no shock. Small businesses have a fantastic relationship with the

:06:39. > :06:39.

:06:39. > :06:43.Football Club. These people, we have struck up years of working

:06:43. > :06:47.with them and have a friendly relationships with them. We do not

:06:47. > :06:57.want to let people down in that department. The administrators

:06:57. > :07:02.

:07:02. > :07:05.At golf's US Masters, Scotland's Paul Lawrie is four shots off the

:07:05. > :07:08.lead midway through his second round. He is two under par,

:07:08. > :07:11.significantly better off than his fellow Scots in the field. Sandy

:07:11. > :07:17.Lyle, a previous champion at Augusta's had a terrible couple of

:07:17. > :07:20.days. This is one of his better shots. He finished 20 over par.

:07:20. > :07:23.Martin Laird is four over par and should just make the cut.

:07:23. > :07:26.It is hoped Britain's oldest breeding osprey will lay a clutch

:07:27. > :07:32.of eggs over the Easter weekend. The bird, known as Lady, returned

:07:32. > :07:35.to the Loch of the Lowes reserve near Dunkeld last week. She has

:07:35. > :07:40.nested there for 22 consecutive years. The birds normally produce

:07:40. > :07:43.about 20 chicks in a lifetime, but Lady has produced 48 fledglings.

:07:43. > :07:52.Christopher has the Eeaster weekend Christopher has the Eeaster weekend

:07:52. > :08:00.weather outlook. A fairly cloudy story across much of the Country

:08:00. > :08:04.this evening and order might as well. Dry for almost, -- dry

:08:04. > :08:08.foremost, but there could be some quite outbreaks of rain. Fairly

:08:08. > :08:17.chilly across much of Highland and Grampian region the temperatures

:08:17. > :08:23.round to about three sing. Tomorrow, it will be cloudy, but the best of

:08:23. > :08:26.the brightness in the east coast. In the north-west, we have a

:08:26. > :08:31.weather front and some light and patchy outbreaks of rain moving

:08:31. > :08:39.towards the central part of the country. Temperatures of where they

:08:39. > :08:49.should be for the time of year. The brain will be light and patchy. A
