:00:25. > :00:28.we are in Dunblane. Has a Wimbledon when is a long-awaited success for

:00:28. > :00:30.British tennis and a long-awaited success for British tennis and the

:00:30. > :00:37.first for Scottish sport. In Andy Murray's hometown the celebrations

:00:37. > :00:41.go on. Someone wanted tennis match yesterday! It has been all about

:00:41. > :00:49.Andy Murray. We were here last year and now we can share the joy this

:00:49. > :00:52.year. It is absolutely brilliant. This is the sports club where Andy

:00:52. > :00:57.Murray first picked up a tennis racket. We will hear exclusively

:00:57. > :01:02.from the important women that he almost forgot in his moment of

:01:02. > :01:09.victory. His mother. I was not going to run down there so everyone

:01:09. > :01:15.started shouting at him, "what about your mother? " So then I went down

:01:15. > :01:19.to see him. That was a lovely moment. Wimbledon champion, US Open

:01:19. > :01:26.champion, world number two, were well Andy Murray's career go from

:01:26. > :01:36.here? Just warehouse has -- and also, where is his place in Scottish

:01:36. > :01:36.

:01:36. > :01:42.sporting history? Good evening. This is a spectacular

:01:42. > :01:45.day for Dunblane. Decades ago a young tennis wannabe Andy Murray

:01:45. > :01:51.spent time on these courts are doing pretty much what these youngsters

:01:51. > :01:54.are doing all me. He deemed about it being a Wimbledon champion and

:01:54. > :02:00.through a combination of talent, steely determination and hard work

:02:00. > :02:08.and sacrifice he got closer and nerve shattering the closer until,

:02:08. > :02:11.well, David McDaid takes up his story.

:02:11. > :02:15.By seven o'clock this morning the clean-up operation was underway.

:02:15. > :02:21.That is after the All England Club staged their biggest party it had

:02:21. > :02:28.ever seen. Andy Murray from Dunblane secured his own place in history

:02:28. > :02:34.beating the world number one Novak Djokovic to win the Wimbledon title.

:02:34. > :02:39.The waiting is over! A British champion with a Scottish heart. He

:02:39. > :02:44.was grateful for the support from back home. Every time I am in

:02:44. > :02:48.Scotland and a win is still behind me. They have always told me no

:02:48. > :02:51.matter when I was that Wimbledon lost any Grand Slam that they would

:02:51. > :02:55.always be behind me and that they were proud of me and that it did not

:02:55. > :03:03.matter whether I win or Isle of Lewis. I am glad to be able to do

:03:03. > :03:06.that for them. Today Andy Murray was back at SW19 and he was a man in

:03:06. > :03:12.high demand during the three other round of interviews which included

:03:12. > :03:16.the BBC's Good Morning Scotland. did not get much sleep last night.

:03:16. > :03:20.One multiple major winner believes the level of attention befits

:03:20. > :03:25.money's achievement. Wimbledon is the biggest tournament in the

:03:25. > :03:32.world, the most well-known, and to have a home nation player when his

:03:32. > :03:37.own championship, that is considered the most significant day in the

:03:37. > :03:45.history of the game for sure. 22nd's triumph was watched by stars

:03:45. > :03:49.of both sport and the silver screen. It is like Scotland,

:03:49. > :03:56.normally we think we are going to do it and then we do not. But this time

:03:56. > :04:00.he did it. It was supposed to happen. A hectic day ended with an

:04:00. > :04:06.invitation to Downing Street and an audience with the Prime Minister. He

:04:06. > :04:10.suggested another title. We were wondering yesterday morning do we

:04:10. > :04:15.dare to dream that this is possible and he proved it absolutely was.

:04:15. > :04:20.Look, honours are decided independently. I cannot think of

:04:20. > :04:26.anyone who deserves one more. unforgettable Wimbledon fortnight

:04:26. > :04:29.then drew to a close. Andy Murray the fall is his Wimbledon dream and

:04:29. > :04:32.Britain and Scotland get the champion they have been waiting for.

:04:32. > :04:40.Next up for the Scot is a well earned holiday before he goes to

:04:40. > :04:45.find his other Grand Slam title at the US Open in August.

:04:45. > :04:50.One of the loudest cheers of the entire match came when the newly

:04:50. > :04:53.crowned champion in came back to hug his mother. He had been

:04:53. > :05:02.congratulating has him but he appears to forget about her. Earlier

:05:02. > :05:07.I spoke to Judy Murray and asked her if she had forgiven him. Yeah, I was

:05:07. > :05:11.thinking and hoping that he would not forget about me but he was on a

:05:11. > :05:16.very flimsy part of the roof. It was not the easy thing for him to do and

:05:16. > :05:21.I was not going to run down. Avril and started shouting at him, "what

:05:21. > :05:26.about your mother? " And then I went down to see him, so that was a

:05:26. > :05:31.lovely moment. Judy, I cannot begin to imagine what it must have been

:05:31. > :05:35.like for you, you have been with him every step of the way, but there

:05:36. > :05:43.seems to be a moment just after he had one that you let it all out and

:05:44. > :05:51.you saw it on a friend's shoulder. Oh, GMac! That was when he hit the

:05:51. > :05:55.winning shot. That is just an enormous moment in his life, and in

:05:55. > :05:58.all out -- all of our lives. You just felt that it was going to

:05:58. > :06:02.happen as the match unfolded but I have been in sport long enough to

:06:02. > :06:09.know that you never count your chickens. Once the final point was

:06:09. > :06:14.over that was it for me. 2014 will be a huge sporting year for Scotland

:06:14. > :06:17.with the common mild gains but the Glasgow bid team decided not to

:06:17. > :06:22.include tennis as a sport. Notwithstanding Andy and Jane's

:06:22. > :06:31.success and that they were gold medal winners in Delhi, does this

:06:31. > :06:34.into BMS opportunity to you? I think that it is. Tennis has always been

:06:34. > :06:39.an optional sport in the Commonwealth Games, it is not every

:06:39. > :06:43.country that has aged tennis facility big enough to cope with the

:06:43. > :06:46.sport of tennis. When it was in Delhi in India four years ago, that

:06:46. > :06:52.was the first time for many years that tennis had been included.

:06:52. > :06:57.Hindsight is a great thing and it would have been eight incredible

:06:57. > :07:02.opportunity -- an incredible opportunity for the fans to be able

:07:02. > :07:06.to say Jamie and Andy. It was a missed opportunity. You have made

:07:06. > :07:10.many people happy in Dunblane today, what would you like to say to them?

:07:10. > :07:16.I would like to say thank you to everyone and that we are just as

:07:16. > :07:20.proud of you as you are for us. was very emotional. I am joined now

:07:20. > :07:24.by a man who might share Judy's frustration at the omission of

:07:24. > :07:31.tennis at the Games. Chief executive of Tennis Scotland, David Marshall.

:07:31. > :07:35.Was this not a mistake? It is a very difficult decision and a lost

:07:35. > :07:40.opportunity from our point of view. There are a lot of factors that come

:07:40. > :07:46.into deciding what sports to include. We could still have tennis

:07:46. > :07:50.in the Youth Commonwealth Games. There was a suggestion that it was

:07:50. > :07:56.in the bed and then taking out because it would not get the votes

:07:56. > :08:00.of non-tennis playing nations, is that the case? I think there was a

:08:00. > :08:06.lot of other sports in contention. A lot of countries do not play tennis

:08:06. > :08:10.and therefore part of the bidding process is to make sure that you get

:08:10. > :08:15.the award and that was part of the consideration as was facility is and

:08:15. > :08:19.whether you would win any medals. What has been done is now done but

:08:19. > :08:26.we are at this fantastic facility. How should we build on Andy

:08:26. > :08:29.Murray's success? We are doing some fantastic work and this is the ideal

:08:29. > :08:33.model at the Dunblane Sports Club. We would like to take this out

:08:33. > :08:36.throughout the country and we are working with our member clubs and

:08:36. > :08:42.working with vocal authorities and parks to make sure that tennis is

:08:42. > :08:46.accessible and cheap. It has been accused of being an elitist sport

:08:46. > :08:52.and expensive. You are saying that is not the case. The average price

:08:52. > :08:57.of a tennis club in Britain is 2 50 each week. We must move away from

:08:57. > :09:01.the idea that it is an elitist sport. We want to encourage more

:09:01. > :09:05.participation and more people getting families out and instead of

:09:05. > :09:09.watching it like we were all doing yesterday, to come out and enjoy the

:09:09. > :09:14.great facilities and give it a go. We do not have our health problems

:09:14. > :09:20.to seek. This is a serious business as -- if we can get youngsters

:09:20. > :09:25.involved will stop that is correct. We have a big target. In some areas

:09:25. > :09:29.we have now got 80% of inclusion in skills. We are trying to keep them

:09:29. > :09:33.in the sport at facilities like this. Thank you, David.

:09:33. > :09:40.It seems like the whole of Scotland is basking in the sunshine and the

:09:40. > :09:44.glory of that Murray moment. Nor were more than Dunblane. Andrew

:09:44. > :09:48.Anderson has been spending the day and Andy Murray's hometown. He has

:09:48. > :09:51.met people enjoying the celebrations.

:09:51. > :09:56.Dunblane was waking up the morning after the night before. It was not

:09:56. > :10:01.long before they were celebrating a historic victory. This post box

:10:01. > :10:07.painted gold after his Olympic success, evading the focal point.

:10:07. > :10:13.The champagne had been drunk dry, coffee was now in demand as the Andy

:10:13. > :10:19.Murray victory sank in. It has been buzzing since yesterday. It has been

:10:19. > :10:24.mental and very busy. It is a fantastic feeling. Everyone was

:10:24. > :10:32.joining in. The butchers put on their tennis shorts and had special

:10:32. > :10:35.burgers attributed to Andy Murray. There has been a bit of a buzz.

:10:35. > :10:39.Apparently someone won a tennis match is the day, it has all been

:10:39. > :10:44.about Andy Murray. Customers and suppliers on the phone have wanted

:10:44. > :10:50.to know what has happened. There is a massive buzz around the town.

:10:50. > :10:54.Posters urging Andy Murray on to victory have been put up for the

:10:54. > :10:57.last few days. They have now been joined by messages of

:10:57. > :11:01.congratulations and in every shop window up and down the high street

:11:01. > :11:08.of Dunblane. Their hometown boy has always done what they do lead could

:11:08. > :11:15.be done by him. It is a result that will live long in the memory here.

:11:15. > :11:21.We always believed he could do it. People have followed him over the

:11:21. > :11:31.years and we have been looking forward to this, just keeping our

:11:31. > :11:36.fingers crossed for so long! This is how the celebrated last night,

:11:36. > :11:41.chanting, "Andy Murray." They were literally dancing in the Street of

:11:42. > :11:47.Dunblane and the party went on long into the night. This is a town

:11:47. > :11:55.bursting with pride. Andrew Anderson, Reporting Scotland.

:11:55. > :11:59.And nowhere are the -- are the more proud than at his grandparents home.

:11:59. > :12:04.Shelley and Roy Erskine were reluctant to play part in Andy

:12:04. > :12:11.Murray's success but they did say that there were one of the earliest

:12:11. > :12:21.double opponents of the money boys. We used to go down and hit with him

:12:21. > :12:23.

:12:23. > :12:29.and his brother. Before long we were discarded! Let us get this straight,

:12:29. > :12:35.both of you were instrumental in his success? I used to get a row for him

:12:35. > :12:38.-- from them for playing tennis in the way that I did because I was on

:12:38. > :12:46.coach and undertrained and I did all sorts of funny things, maybe that is

:12:46. > :12:56.where he got his... And the used to stamp his foot and tell us to play

:12:56. > :13:01.properly. When we are away and there is no media circus, when you look

:13:01. > :13:07.back at the success of your lives, your daughter and both boys, what do

:13:07. > :13:16.you think about that? We do look at each other very so often and think,

:13:16. > :13:23."did that really happen?" We did not say that yesterday. No, we did not.

:13:23. > :13:30.We accepted that at last he had achieved this. You should see Andy

:13:30. > :13:34.when he meets his grandmother. It is a wonderful moment. He teases me

:13:34. > :13:38.unmercifully and then asks me if I have made the chicken broth. When he

:13:38. > :13:47.came home at Christmas we had four plates of 30 broth before they even

:13:47. > :13:54.started his main course. He does look well on it!

:13:54. > :14:03.He certainly does. And that is all from us at the moment.

:14:03. > :14:08.We will be back later in the programme. Back to you, Sally.

:14:08. > :14:13.Good evening, hopes are fading for a 14-year-old Glasgow girl who has got

:14:13. > :14:19.-- who has gone missing at a CZ resort in Wales. She was at Barry

:14:19. > :14:22.Island and was last seen in the sea. 14-year-old Hollie met -- Hollie

:14:22. > :14:31.McClymont was on holiday with her mother and other family members in

:14:31. > :14:34.Wales. They were staying at Barry Island. She was last seen at about

:14:34. > :14:38.245 yesterday afternoon by friends near the shore. She was in

:14:38. > :14:41.difficulty in the water. The Coast Guard was called and a huge search

:14:41. > :14:48.and rescue operation was scouring the area where she disappeared.

:14:48. > :14:53.Despite a desperate search, Hollie McClymont has not been filled. --

:14:53. > :14:57.not been found. This afternoon the search continued. The Hollie

:14:57. > :15:01.McClymont is a pupil at the school in Glasgow which is now closed for

:15:01. > :15:06.the holidays. She and her friends and family had gone to Wales for the

:15:06. > :15:10.beaks of the break. Tonight her family say they are worried sick

:15:10. > :15:13.about Hollie McClymont and hope that she will turn up safe and sound. The

:15:13. > :15:17.picturesque coastline where Hollie McClymont was swimming was popular

:15:17. > :15:23.with tourists but locals say the water should be treated with caution

:15:23. > :15:33.because of the high tidal range. Tonight all of her family can do is

:15:33. > :15:36.

:15:36. > :15:46.Scottish Water said homes and businesses in Beer's them and Merry

:15:46. > :15:50.

:15:53. > :15:56.Two ex-wives of an MSP have told a court that he assaulted them during

:15:56. > :15:59.their relationships. Bill Walker's first wife Maureen Traquair said he

:15:59. > :16:02.gave her a black eye two weeks before their wedding in 1967. Mr

:16:02. > :16:04.Walker's second wife Anne Gruber told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that

:16:04. > :16:07.her ex-husband had attacked her daughter with a saucepan in 1978.

:16:07. > :16:09.Mr Walker denies 23 charges of assault and one allegation of

:16:09. > :16:12.breach of the peace. The trial continues.

:16:12. > :16:14.The private sector in Scotland is enjoying a growth spurt according

:16:14. > :16:17.to the most recent survey of activity. The Purchasing Managers

:16:17. > :16:23.Index from the Bank of Scotland found the positives outweighing

:16:23. > :16:31.negatives at the strongest rate for more than six years.

:16:31. > :16:35.Other stories from across Scotland this Monday evening.

:16:35. > :16:40.A 3 million upgrade of Stornoway's ferry facilities is set to begin.

:16:40. > :16:45.The improvements are needed to accommodate the new ferry which is

:16:45. > :16:49.due to come into service next year. Kay Matheson, who help to remove

:16:49. > :16:55.the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey, has died at the

:16:55. > :17:01.age of 84. Businesses are being offered the

:17:01. > :17:10.chance to set up shop inside the north-east's new super jail when it

:17:10. > :17:14.opens next March. There will be enterprise units in her Majesty's

:17:14. > :17:21.prisons Peterhead. Boeing was my Dreamliner has made

:17:21. > :17:28.his maiden flight from Glasgow airport heading to Cancun a. The

:17:28. > :17:34.787 is specially designed for long- haul flights. We have beautiful

:17:34. > :17:39.electronic systems, excellent display for the pilots, the most

:17:39. > :17:46.advanced electronic systems you can imagine. It saves time, energy and

:17:46. > :17:56.we comply more efficiently and give our customers a better experience.

:17:56. > :17:58.

:17:58. > :18:01.More stories 24 hours a day on BBC Scotland's website. Well, much has

:18:01. > :18:06.already been said about yesterday's historic win. But what next for

:18:06. > :18:15.Andy Murray? Here's Jane to tell us. Andy Murray has vowed it to use his

:18:15. > :18:21.money but -- his Wimbledon win to encourage others. Some of the

:18:21. > :18:24.biggest names in the world of tennis say he will now go on to win

:18:24. > :18:31.many more religious and the believe he can go on to become the world

:18:31. > :18:37.number one. The men's singles champion, Andy

:18:37. > :18:41.Murray! A second Grand Slam and Wimbledon

:18:41. > :18:47.champion. What a difference a year makes. I am going to try this, it

:18:47. > :18:54.is not going to be easy. Remember those tears? 12 months on, he has

:18:54. > :19:04.an Olympic gold to his name and his first major. Add to that, Wimbledon.

:19:04. > :19:05.

:19:05. > :19:11.What is next? I expect more from them. He will keep his motivation.

:19:11. > :19:18.He will want to win more. His progression has been impressive

:19:18. > :19:25.since he turned professional in 2005. Six years ago, he was ranked

:19:25. > :19:31.13th in the world. One year later, he was consistently in the top 10.

:19:31. > :19:38.He broke into the top five in 2000 in line. Earlier this year, he was

:19:38. > :19:45.ranked the world's second best tennis player. With Novak Djokovic

:19:45. > :19:54.and Andy Murray playing so well, they are both 26, I definitely see

:19:54. > :19:59.them playing many it finals in the future.

:19:59. > :20:04.And Murray will aim to add to their two Grand Slams already in his

:20:04. > :20:10.possession. I may never win another one, but I will keep working as

:20:11. > :20:14.hard as I can to try and do that. I think over the last 18 months, I

:20:14. > :20:24.have proved I can win on the big stages against the best players in

:20:24. > :20:26.

:20:26. > :20:29.the world. Next up for Andy Murray, defending his US Open title. Andy

:20:29. > :20:31.Murray's Wimbledon win has, to say the least, started a real debate.

:20:31. > :20:33.Where does it rank among other Scottish sporting acheivements?

:20:33. > :20:43.It's a tricky one because as Kheredine Idessane reports there

:20:43. > :20:52.are a few to choose from. It is Jackie Stewart! The European

:20:52. > :21:02.Cup is on his way to Glasgow. Alan Wells confirmed as the Olympic

:21:02. > :21:09.champion. What a superb swim by David Wilkie.

:21:09. > :21:18.And Paul Lawrie is the winner. Katherine Grainger is that Olympic

:21:18. > :21:26.champion. Chris Hoy get so the gold medal. He

:21:26. > :21:32.is up greatest -- he is the greatest Olympic champion ever.

:21:32. > :21:39.This is a sporting Wall of fame. Great names, one and all. Andy

:21:39. > :21:44.Murray's name will be in here as well. But he has to retire first.

:21:44. > :21:53.But his place in the pantheon of Scottish sporting history is

:21:53. > :22:02.assured. But where does he fit in? We do see rank? -- where does he

:22:02. > :22:06.rank? I think this is right up there at the top for me. How do

:22:06. > :22:10.recapitalise on the achievements on the likes of Andy Murray?

:22:10. > :22:14.governing bodies have to work hard and that is what we will try and

:22:15. > :22:21.invest in. We will make an announcement later this week about

:22:21. > :22:30.further investment in tennis specifically. A funding

:22:30. > :22:36.announcement, more money for tenors. There is a tennis page here already.

:22:36. > :22:39.Andy Murray will be in here as well. But how many more Grand Slams will

:22:39. > :22:49.he win before he gets his place in here?

:22:49. > :22:52.

:22:52. > :23:02.Hopefully a lot. It was the warmest day of the Year

:23:02. > :23:05.

:23:05. > :23:10.today. It is looking like a week of he'd right across the country.28

:23:10. > :23:18.degrees in Glasgow. Many places in the country feeling very hot, but

:23:18. > :23:23.Shetland are feeling a bit cooler. Across the far North, the cloud

:23:23. > :23:27.will continue in place across the far north-west. There will be some

:23:28. > :23:33.mist forming at times, but that should be gone by tomorrow morning.

:23:33. > :23:38.An uncomfortable night in many places. Temperatures no lower than

:23:38. > :23:42.14 or 15 Celsius in towns and cities. The high-pressure will stay
