:00:00. > :00:15.arrives on Friday. Can't wait! That's all from

:00:16. > :00:25.Tonight, on Reporting Scotland: Neighbours speak of their shock at

:00:26. > :00:26.the murder of a woman in a Glasgow park as detectives try to establish

:00:27. > :00:53.her last movements. be rejected by the city council.

:00:54. > :01:02.Most people say they cannot believe it. We hear the remarkable love

:01:03. > :01:06.story borne out of the tragedy of the Lockerbie bombing.

:01:07. > :01:10.And after a broken jaw threatened Ricky Burns' career, the boxer tells

:01:11. > :01:17.us he's raring to get back into the ring after being given the all

:01:18. > :01:20.clear. Detectives are trying to piece

:01:21. > :01:23.together the last movements of a woman who was found murdered in a

:01:24. > :01:27.Glasgow park. It's thought the killer struck as 53-year-old Jean

:01:28. > :01:30.Campbell was walking her dog in Cranhill Park. Police have organised

:01:31. > :01:32.extra patrols in the area as Aileen Clarke reports.

:01:33. > :01:42.Flowers for a treasured wife and mother. Jean Campbell found murdered

:01:43. > :01:49.in Cranhill park. It was on Saturday morning that the body was found. It

:01:50. > :01:56.was found by her husband. Jean Campbell had been walking her dog.

:01:57. > :02:03.The park is across from her home. The dog had stayed in the park.

:02:04. > :02:14.Today at the local newsagents there was shock and sadness at the death.

:02:15. > :02:27.She was a very nice woman. She always asked about my boys. She was

:02:28. > :02:36.very nice. Everybody is shocked. With the murder enquiry and away

:02:37. > :02:43.search teams have been combing the park. This murderer has rocked the

:02:44. > :02:50.local community. The community is concerned about violence on the

:02:51. > :02:54.street. I have only lived here for five months but there has been three

:02:55. > :02:58.murders in that time. It does not feel very safe. Something needs to

:02:59. > :03:13.be done. There have been too many incidents. She was a nice woman. It

:03:14. > :03:17.is so sad. When Jean Campbell took her dog out at the weekend she was

:03:18. > :03:23.wearing a black jacket over pyjama bottoms. Detectives are still trying

:03:24. > :03:29.to work out what time she went into the park. Police are keen to hear

:03:30. > :03:35.from anybody who saw the victim after five yen on Friday evening.

:03:36. > :03:47.Ass macro after five o'clock on Friday thing. -- after five o'clock

:03:48. > :03:50.on Friday evening. A crackdown on housebreaking over

:03:51. > :03:54.the festive period means that those caught will face up to five years in

:03:55. > :03:57.prison under a tough new prosecution policy. At the moment most offenders

:03:58. > :04:01.receive sentences of less than a year. New police teams are also

:04:02. > :04:05.being created to tackle the problem. Here's our Home Affairs

:04:06. > :04:17.Correspondent, Reevel Alderson. The dog acts as an extra pair of

:04:18. > :04:34.years. It is frightening. You do not know what the person is like. I am

:04:35. > :04:42.an old man now. I would end up the worst. Police say there is always a

:04:43. > :04:50.spike at Christmas but this type of crime is becoming less common.

:04:51. > :04:55.Police have now created specialist teams to bring it down further. A

:04:56. > :05:02.strong message to anybody who is intent on committing this type of

:05:03. > :05:07.distressing crime. If you are thinking of doing it I will find

:05:08. > :05:11.you, you will be arrested, and you will spend the festive period in

:05:12. > :05:24.jail. For the next three weeks anybody found arrested of

:05:25. > :05:33.housebreaking well. During the holiday period that is

:05:34. > :05:37.the time housebreakers target homes. We are making it public what the

:05:38. > :05:46.policy is in the hope that people will be deterred.

:05:47. > :05:50.For this man the puzzle is why this policy is not being implemented all

:05:51. > :05:54.year round. Aberdeen City Council is set to

:05:55. > :05:59.reject a ?50 million offer from the businessman Sir Ian Wood to

:06:00. > :06:03.redevelop the city centre. He had said his money would be on the table

:06:04. > :06:07.until the end of the year to help fund a transformational project.

:06:08. > :06:19.Kevin Keane is in Aberdeen for us tonight. Kevin, another twist. This

:06:20. > :06:24.is a long-running controversy. It has been going on for the last

:06:25. > :06:28.five years. That is the main eater. Tonight a pantomime will be played

:06:29. > :06:35.out in the air. Many might argue that the real pantomime has been

:06:36. > :06:40.going on down there in the gardens. Usually we are allowed to film, but

:06:41. > :06:50.the council would not allow us today. In 2000 and eight Sir Ian

:06:51. > :06:55.Wood made the ?50 million offer to transform this space into a new

:06:56. > :07:04.civic square. He wanted to raise the level of the gardens and cover over

:07:05. > :07:09.the main road and railway. Last year that plan was rejected by

:07:10. > :07:12.councillors. Sir Ian Wood and his team kept the money on the table and

:07:13. > :07:17.had repeatedly extended the deadline for it to be committed to. That

:07:18. > :07:22.deadline runs out at the end of the. He says there are other projects

:07:23. > :07:26.that the money can be spent on. This week councillors will be asked to

:07:27. > :07:31.write to Sir Ian Wood and rejected the money. The councillors say that

:07:32. > :07:35.is not the end of it. They say they have their own plans for this space.

:07:36. > :07:38.Opposition councillors say it is making a mockery of the city.

:07:39. > :07:42.You're watching Reporting Scotland from the BBC. Still to come on the

:07:43. > :07:44.programme. Catching up on the Queen's Baton Relay for the

:07:45. > :07:48.Commonwealth Games. Mark Beaumont meets Tonga's boxers going for gold

:07:49. > :07:52.in Glasgow. In sport: Three months after a

:07:53. > :07:57.horror jaw break, we speak to world boxing champion Ricky Burns about

:07:58. > :08:00.the long road back. And we hear about another world class Scot who's

:08:01. > :08:07.finally returning to action. Join me for the sport very soon.

:08:08. > :08:22.Libya has appointed two prosecutors to work on the Lockerbie case. 270

:08:23. > :08:25.people were killed. The Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland, has told

:08:26. > :08:27.the BBC that the Libyans will work alongside Scottish and American

:08:28. > :08:30.investigators. Mr Mulholland, who is Scotland's top prosecutor, described

:08:31. > :08:38.this as a welcome development which he said would hopefully lead to

:08:39. > :08:44.progress in the case. Libyan law enforcement have appointed two

:08:45. > :08:49.prosecutors to work with US and Scottish prosecutors. That is a

:08:50. > :08:57.welcome development. Hopefully this will progress matters. There are

:08:58. > :09:02.challenges, in particular the security situation. It is small

:09:03. > :09:15.steps. Nevertheless it is positive steps. A man who found the body of a

:09:16. > :09:17.young woman killed in the Lockerbie bombing has fallen in love with the

:09:18. > :09:20.victim's mother. Former ambulance man George White tells his

:09:21. > :09:23.extraordinary story in a BBC documentary to mark the 25th

:09:24. > :09:30.anniversary of the bombing. He's been speaking to our correspondent,

:09:31. > :09:34.Glenn Campbell. This play centre in Lockerbie was

:09:35. > :09:39.gifted money by their relatives of some of those who died a generation

:09:40. > :09:47.ago. Among those whose memory is kept alive in this way is Suzanne

:09:48. > :09:59.Miazga. She was flying home for Christmas. No one on board the

:10:00. > :10:05.flight survived. This is where Suzanne Miazga fail.

:10:06. > :10:24.Her body came down a nurse narrow strip of grass. -- this is where

:10:25. > :10:36.Suzanne Miazga fell. I still have nightmares. I thought I

:10:37. > :10:51.should do something. I planted a rose tree. There is still a

:10:52. > :11:02.remembrance rose tree. George wrote to the mother of

:11:03. > :11:09.Suzanne Miazga, Anna Marie. He said he would always take care of the

:11:10. > :11:16.spot where she fell. It was wonderful that somebody cared. Anna

:11:17. > :11:22.Marie became friends with George and his wife. In the years after the

:11:23. > :11:37.death of the wife of George, the relationship between George and Anna

:11:38. > :11:49.Marie developed. You said I was at the top of the list. Anna Marie and

:11:50. > :11:55.George now live together in New York state. A couple who fell in love

:11:56. > :12:01.because of a young woman who fell from the sky over Lockerbie.

:12:02. > :12:04.And you can see more of George and Anna-Marie in Living With Lockerbie

:12:05. > :12:08.on BBC One Scotland tonight at 10.35.

:12:09. > :12:11.Andy Murray has set his sights on becoming the world tennis number

:12:12. > :12:14.one. The newly-crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year picked up

:12:15. > :12:19.the honour last night winning almost 56 per cent of the vote. He now says

:12:20. > :12:22.he wants to repay the public's faith by trying to win next months'

:12:23. > :12:35.Australian Open. Kheredine Idessane has more.

:12:36. > :12:45.It is one of the biggest prizes in British sport. If you want to try to

:12:46. > :12:55.be the best athlete you need to make sacrifices.

:12:56. > :13:05.Finally to have my name and alongside some of the great British

:13:06. > :13:11.athletes is very nice. Winning Wimbledon finally cemented his place

:13:12. > :13:14.in the nation's heart. The joke a few years ago about supporting

:13:15. > :13:25.anybody but a month at football finally forgotten in the South. I am

:13:26. > :13:28.surprised he's not get it last year. If this was a tennis match Andy

:13:29. > :13:55.Murray won in straight sets. Quite a transformation. The

:13:56. > :14:02.management team are looking for him to take a few more risks.

:14:03. > :14:14.There are moments such as the support he has given his friends in

:14:15. > :14:21.his fight against cancer. It all means Andy Murray now has an Olympic

:14:22. > :14:29.gold medal, two grand slam titles, and the sports personality award. He

:14:30. > :14:36.made history last night. He won the junior title in 2004 and though he

:14:37. > :14:43.has won the senior title. No matter how excited I am my voice still

:14:44. > :14:50.sounds boring. Andy Murray is setting his sights on the Australian

:14:51. > :14:53.open next month. If you weren't sporty at school, PE lessons can

:14:54. > :14:58.still bring back memories of humiliation and excuse notes.

:14:59. > :15:02.But there's a new scheme to try to change the way PE is taught to help

:15:03. > :15:05.make it more appealing to all children. Instead of just playing a

:15:06. > :15:08.game like football or hockey, it's all about teaching youngsters about

:15:09. > :15:11.moving and thinking at the same time. Our education correspondent

:15:12. > :15:18.Jamie McIvor's been finding out more. If she were no good at things

:15:19. > :15:25.like this, you might not have an joy to PE at school. But it does not

:15:26. > :15:30.have to mean sport or gymnastics. -- not have enjoyed. These primary two

:15:31. > :15:45.children are getting a new sort of PE. What does BMT stand for? Better

:15:46. > :15:50.movers and thinkers. It is not a case of teaching the children

:15:51. > :15:54.sports. It is actually about teaching children to move and think

:15:55. > :16:03.about how they move which become tactics in game situations. In this

:16:04. > :16:07.session we have just done, we did one two, three hop which encourages

:16:08. > :16:15.children to be coordinator to, it helps them cope. Their teacher says

:16:16. > :16:22.PE like this has benefits back in the classroom. With this, we are

:16:23. > :16:29.focusing on acquiring the skill of listening to instructions. In the

:16:30. > :16:34.classroom, we noticed that because we're teaching skills and make him

:16:35. > :16:45.is holed, they learn to do that in the classroom. -- teaching skills in

:16:46. > :16:50.the games hall. The latest figures say nearly nine out of town and

:16:51. > :16:55.schools are giving two hours of PE a week. Schemes like this are not

:16:56. > :17:01.meant to replace sport but it is supposed to help to ensure that all

:17:02. > :17:04.children get the most from PE. Other stories from across the

:17:05. > :17:08.country this Monday. Police have been continuing their

:17:09. > :17:12.search along the banks of the River Leven in Fife for a missing

:17:13. > :17:15.17-year-old boy. Thomas Brown, from Cupar, was out with friends in

:17:16. > :17:17.Methil when he became separated from the group. He hasn't been seen since

:17:18. > :17:27.Friday. Controversial plans to merge

:17:28. > :17:30.Aberdeen primary schools have been dropped. The Labour-led council

:17:31. > :17:33.faced a backlash from parents over its proposals to merge Bramble Brae

:17:34. > :17:35.with Quarryhill, and Middleton Park and Glashieburn schools. But, after

:17:36. > :17:38.a consultation, council leaders have decided the children would not

:17:39. > :17:41.benefit from the move. Highland Council will receive ?3

:17:42. > :17:44.million from the Scottish government to build a new Gaelic school in

:17:45. > :17:47.Portree on Skye. Languages Minister Alasdair Allan said an additional

:17:48. > :17:50.quarter of a million pounds would also be made available to develop

:17:51. > :17:57.Gaelic learning in early years at the site. Highland Council expects

:17:58. > :18:00.work to start in 2015 and the school to cost 8.3 million to build.

:18:01. > :18:03.Glasgow has the lowest kidney donation rate in the UK, according

:18:04. > :18:04.to scientists at Cambridge University and NHS Blood and

:18:05. > :18:08.Transplant. They put the figure at three point

:18:09. > :18:11.two per cent - compared to a national average of over 5%. But one

:18:12. > :18:14.of Glasgow's top transplant surgeons has rubbished the report. Marc

:18:15. > :18:18.Clancy argues the figures are out-of-date. Fishermens' leaders

:18:19. > :18:22.fear more cuts in the number of days Scotland's fishing boats can stay at

:18:23. > :18:25.sea may be on the cards in annual EU talks on fish quotas, due to start.

:18:26. > :18:28.Most of the major decisions affecting the Scottish fleet won't

:18:29. > :18:39.be taken until after negotiations in the new year between the EU, Norway,

:18:40. > :18:45.Iceland and the Faroes. The desire that we have given to our ministers

:18:46. > :18:50.is you cannot come back with the reduction in days at sea for our

:18:51. > :18:53.fishing fleet. We must maintain the minimum number of days at sea that

:18:54. > :18:57.we have. And there are more stories from your

:18:58. > :19:04.area - and all the latest news, 24 hours a day on BBC Scotland's

:19:05. > :19:06.website. The Queen's Baton Relay is

:19:07. > :19:10.continuing its journey to every Commonwealth Nation and Territory as

:19:11. > :19:12.part of the build up to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next

:19:13. > :19:16.July. Mark Beaumont is travelling with the Baton and while in Tonga

:19:17. > :19:31.met one of the island's young boxing hopefuls hoping to continue the

:19:32. > :19:34.country's medal success in the ring. At times the exuberance of the

:19:35. > :19:39.celebration had been reined in a little to look after the precious

:19:40. > :19:43.Queen's Baton Relay is Tonga won all three of their Commonwealth medals

:19:44. > :19:51.at boxing so these guys here hope to continue that success in Glasgow

:19:52. > :19:54.2014. As a contender for the games, is 22-year-old had the honour of

:19:55. > :20:00.being one of the final battle on carriers in Tonga. I went to see how

:20:01. > :20:06.the medal hopeful was getting ready for Glasgow. Where do you normally

:20:07. > :20:11.train? You're looking at the facilities and without train. We

:20:12. > :20:21.just have a punching bag and skipping ropes, gloves and some

:20:22. > :20:28.weights. They said boxers eat six times a day but here in Tonga, I eat

:20:29. > :20:34.only once a day, unless they train in the night-time. We do not have

:20:35. > :20:43.money for everything. It does not mean you stop. It does not matter

:20:44. > :20:52.what you have. What matters to me is what I know I can do. The court

:20:53. > :21:10.thought I was ready to go toe to toe with Oscar. -- the coach. He is

:21:11. > :21:18.laughing! It is hard for you. He is moving too fast. It was time to get

:21:19. > :21:27.out before I got knocked out. This is where we train our champions stop

:21:28. > :21:35.this is the only boxing ring in Tonga. Without it there is no

:21:36. > :21:39.competition. In Tonga, guys like Oscar and using sports to better

:21:40. > :21:43.their lives but when their facilities are so basic, including

:21:44. > :21:48.this boxing ring, they have much harder than their competitors to

:21:49. > :21:52.reach the highest level. It helps that fighting seems to be in the

:21:53. > :22:00.blood of Tongans and from what I've seen, Oscar has what it takes to be

:22:01. > :22:02.as future champion. And Rhona's squaring up with more

:22:03. > :22:05.boxing leading tonight's sports news.

:22:06. > :22:09.Scotland's world boxing champion Ricky Burns has been cleared to

:22:10. > :22:11.resume his career - three months after a horrific jaw break. Thank

:22:12. > :22:15.you very much. The Coatbridge lightweight was injured in his drawn

:22:16. > :22:18.title defence in September, but now plans to begin sparring ahead of his

:22:19. > :22:26.next fight in the new year. He's been speaking to Phil Goodlad.

:22:27. > :22:29.Ricky Burns is backing the and now cleared for more than just

:22:30. > :22:34.promotional work. I was in hospital and got x-rayed to see the surge in

:22:35. > :22:39.the other day. The happy with the way it is recovering. Three months

:22:40. > :22:44.ago it looked very different, a broken jaw had him questioning his

:22:45. > :22:49.boxing future. Now he is ready to go back in the firing line. I will not

:22:50. > :22:54.be happy until I get back in the ring. I have been going to fight

:22:55. > :23:01.some watching people spiralling. I am dying to get back in there

:23:02. > :23:06.myself. I want to test it out. Last year you was at the height of his

:23:07. > :23:11.powers. 2013 has been a different story. In March he split from his

:23:12. > :23:17.promoter, Frank Warren, who announced he is suing Burns for

:23:18. > :23:26.damages. In May he retained his title. A controversial draw in

:23:27. > :23:31.September and a broken jaw. Now this man, an undefeated American

:23:32. > :23:37.represents his next challenge. Everyone says this will be my

:23:38. > :23:40.toughest fight to date. I am the underdog but that is the reality

:23:41. > :23:50.kicked, there is no pressure on me. The pressure will increase as he

:23:51. > :23:52.nears his return to the ring. Another comeback kids. The Scotland

:23:53. > :23:55.captain Darren Fletcher says he's back for good after suffering a

:23:56. > :23:58.serious bowel condition. The midfielder made his return to

:23:59. > :24:02.competitive football for the first time in almost a year when he came

:24:03. > :24:05.on as a sub for Manchester United in yesterday's match against Aston

:24:06. > :24:08.Villa. He played the last twenty minutes, and his manager was both

:24:09. > :24:13.pleased and impressed. I thought when he came on he looked as if he

:24:14. > :24:16.had not been away. I was really impressed the cos we're not sure

:24:17. > :24:22.really is, he has had a few reserve games and he has been training. You

:24:23. > :24:26.never can tell. I thought he played very well in the 25 minutes he

:24:27. > :24:30.played today. Now, a look at what else has been

:24:31. > :24:33.happening today in Scottish sport... A 16 points to ten victory win over

:24:34. > :24:36.Gloucester was impressive, but Edinburgh Rugby have only a slim

:24:37. > :24:40.chance of reaching the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup. They sit

:24:41. > :24:48.third in pool six but remain positive. We're in with a chance. As

:24:49. > :24:54.long as we win our games, that's all we can look for, moving forward if

:24:55. > :24:58.we can keep this as our standards and move on beyond this, that would

:24:59. > :25:01.be the key thing. It's a happy 18th birthday today for

:25:02. > :25:05.Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld. The teenager has agreed a contract

:25:06. > :25:11.extension until the end of season 2017. Gould has played 30 times for

:25:12. > :25:13.United scoring seven goals. Livingston speed skater Elise

:25:14. > :25:18.Christie has just been named in team GB for the Sochi winter Games. It's

:25:19. > :25:27.her second Olympics. Christie will compete in all three events, and

:25:28. > :25:34.says expectations are high. We had an expectation to do well before and

:25:35. > :25:37.be in the top 16 and top eight. There was expectation for a medal,

:25:38. > :25:41.that does not mean we will win one but we have a chance.

:25:42. > :25:48.And there are more sports stories - plus all the latest news, 24 hours a

:25:49. > :25:53.day on BBC Sport Scotland's website. That's it for tonight.

:25:54. > :25:55.Let's find out what the weather has in store for us all full is top

:25:56. > :26:00.thank you very much. in store for us all full is top
