:00:18. > :00:23.Unemployment in Scotland drops by 25,000 - it's down to its lowest
:00:24. > :00:27.rate for almost five years. Tackling forced marriage - MSPs vote
:00:28. > :00:30.to allow the UK parliament to make it a criminal offence but women's

:00:36. > :00:38.This young rugby player died after being concussed during a school
:00:39. > :00:46.game, now his father says everyone in sport should be aware of the
:00:47. > :00:50.dangers. He was on the ground for a minute
:00:51. > :00:55.and a half and had to be helped to his feet. I think that was when the
:00:56. > :00:58.problem started happening. And Andy Murray's Australian open is
:00:59. > :01:02.over. He's beaten in the quarter final by
:01:03. > :01:08.Roger Federer but the Scot says he was proud of the way he played.
:01:09. > :01:14.Unemployment in Scotland has fallen to its lowest rate for almost five
:01:15. > :01:17.years. According to official figures, the number of people who
:01:18. > :01:21.were out of work and seeking a job during the autumn was down by
:01:22. > :01:24.25,000. Our business correspondent David Henderson is here and can tell
:01:25. > :01:28.us more. Jackie, this is another clear sign
:01:29. > :01:31.that the economy's on the mend. During September to November,
:01:32. > :01:38.employment levels rose. Meanwhile the number of people out of work and
:01:39. > :01:43.looking for a job fell by 25,000. The jobless total now stands at its
:01:44. > :01:48.lowest rate for almost five years. And across the UK as a whole,
:01:49. > :01:50.unemployment also dipped sharply. I've been hearing from some
:01:51. > :02:03.manufacturers, who're cautiously optimistic about the coming year.
:02:04. > :02:06.At Scotland's trade feared in Glasgow company is offering what
:02:07. > :02:12.they make to retailers who will then sell it on to tourists. Signs the
:02:13. > :02:20.economy picking up with some taking on new staff to meet the rising
:02:21. > :02:24.demand. We are textile manufacturer with some 800 employees and we see
:02:25. > :02:34.that going up due to the seasonal nature of our business, but we see
:02:35. > :02:39.that going up and hopefully growing. I had not possibly experienced a
:02:40. > :02:44.rise in demand like this since the 1980s and for want of a better word,
:02:45. > :02:51.we refer to it as the Braveheart factor. With orders rising, other
:02:52. > :02:57.employers are hiring as well which has caused unemployment is twofold.
:02:58. > :03:03.Some are finding their is less competition. In 2012 there was
:03:04. > :03:15.roughly 60 applications forever the vacancy but that has rocked. -- 16
:03:16. > :03:20.applications has dropped to 14. Firms hope Scotland's rising profile
:03:21. > :03:25.can boost their trade thanks to events like the Commonwealth Games
:03:26. > :03:31.and just outside, this new hotel is being prepared for an influx of
:03:32. > :03:34.tourists. Unemployment is now at its lowest level for five years and
:03:35. > :03:36.worked like this may help that continue.
:03:37. > :03:40.So what now? Well, the Scottish unemployment rate is down to 6.4% of
:03:41. > :03:45.the workforce, while the UK rate has dropped to 7.1%. That's very close
:03:46. > :03:50.to the point at which the Bank of England has said it will consider
:03:51. > :03:53.raising interest rates. Now it's clear the economy's creating jobs at
:03:54. > :03:59.a faster rate than most experts had predicted. But this is long road to
:04:00. > :04:04.recovery, so most think the Bank is in no rush to lift those interest

:04:35. > :04:37.The wedding of a willing couple may be the happiest day of their lives
:04:38. > :04:44.but some young women and men are flown abroad to marry against their
:04:45. > :04:51.will. In some cases, they are tricked into travelling by the
:04:52. > :04:54.promise of a holiday. Both the UK and Scottish governments have been
:04:55. > :05:01.taking an increasingly tough line against forced marriage. For the
:05:02. > :05:04.last two years Scottish courts have been able to issue orders protecting
:05:05. > :05:11.people from forced marriage and breach of an order is a criminal
:05:12. > :05:15.offence. Now the Scottish government wants to adopt UK wide plans to make
:05:16. > :05:21.forced marriage a specific criminal offence with deal terms of up to
:05:22. > :05:23.seven years. Campaigners who work with those at risk of forced
:05:24. > :05:31.marriage thing that could do more harm than good. People are scared to
:05:32. > :05:35.criminalise colleagues and relatives and we think it will make people
:05:36. > :05:41.more reluctant to come forward and report instances. At Holyrood, the
:05:42. > :05:46.government said a criminal offence could be a successful deterrent and
:05:47. > :05:52.Scotland must keep step with the rest of the UK on this issue. A gap

:07:19. > :07:25.son who died at the age of 14 after being concussed twice within 45
