:00:00. > :00:00.Much more throughout the evening on the BBC News channel. We are back

:00:07. > :00:12.Good evening. Smoking amongst young teenagers in Scotland is at its

:00:13. > :00:15.lowest level since records began. A report, by ASH Scotland hailed the

:00:16. > :00:18.drop in 13-year-old to 15-year-old smokers and said a reduction in the

:00:19. > :00:30.rate of 16-year-olds to 24-year-olds who are lighting up was a welcome

:00:31. > :00:43.result. Catriona Renton reports. The charity has produced a report into

:00:44. > :00:46.smoking habits in the country. From 1996 to 2012 the percentage has

:00:47. > :00:53.dropped, although slightly more girls than boys smoke as teenagers.

:00:54. > :01:04.Those between 16 and 24 years old have fallen from 26% to 22%. Five

:01:05. > :01:09.years ago we were really worried. Figures were all over the place and

:01:10. > :01:13.not showing a decline. The good news is that smoking rates in that age

:01:14. > :01:17.group are now beginning to decline. That is as a result of the real

:01:18. > :01:26.commitment shown in Scotland to tackling tobacco. I tried it once. I

:01:27. > :01:42.would never do it again. I smoked for nine years. 14 to 23. Why did

:01:43. > :01:49.you quit? It is unhealthy. I started smoking socially when I was 17. One

:01:50. > :01:54.fifth of Scots adults smoke, down from one third in 1999. Those who do

:01:55. > :02:00.say that on average they have cut down from 15 to 13.5 per day. The

:02:01. > :02:09.Scottish government says good progress has been made but they

:02:10. > :02:13.cannot afford to be complacent. We believe that standardised packaging

:02:14. > :02:17.would have a significant impact. It would reduce the number of young

:02:18. > :02:21.people attracted in the first place. It will help us with an ambitious

:02:22. > :02:30.target of making Scotland a smoke-free nation by 2034. Although

:02:31. > :02:32.levels have fallen it is still associated with deprivation and the

:02:33. > :02:36.gap between the richest and poorest of society has not reduced.

:02:37. > :02:39.Police say they're treating a disturbance in Glasgow which left

:02:40. > :02:41.two teenagers in hospital as an attempted murder and a serious

:02:42. > :02:45.assault. The 19-year-old men were taken to hospital following the

:02:46. > :02:49.incident in the Kinning Park area of Paisley Road West early this

:02:50. > :02:51.morning. The police say they're following a positive line of

:02:52. > :02:53.enquiry. The Roman Catholic chaplain of

:02:54. > :02:56.Glasgow University has been appointed by the Pope as the new

:02:57. > :02:58.Bishop of Paisley. 49-year-old Father John Keenan will become

:02:59. > :03:01.Scotland's youngest bishop. The diocese has been vacant since 2012,

:03:02. > :03:06.when Bishop Philip Tartaglia became Archbishop of Glasgow.

:03:07. > :03:11.Rugby, and Scotland lost 20-0 to England in the Calcutta Cup at

:03:12. > :03:15.Murrayfield. Captain Greig Laidlaw managed to hit the post with a

:03:16. > :03:19.penalty - in almost exactly the same way as in last weekend's Six Nations

:03:20. > :03:25.defeat to Ireland. Scotland's luck might have been out, but England won

:03:26. > :03:31.comfortably. Football: Aberdeen came from behind

:03:32. > :03:34.to shock Celtic and reach the quarterfinal of the Scottish cup.

:03:35. > :03:38.Celtic took the lead with their first chance of the game, through

:03:39. > :03:42.Anthony Stokes. But Aberdeen hit back with goals from Russell

:03:43. > :03:45.Anderson and Peter Pawlett. Aberdeen hadn't won at Celtic Park since

:03:46. > :03:51.2008. Here are all today's Scottish Cup results. Hibs lost at home to

:03:52. > :03:52.Championship side Raith Rovers. But Saint Johnstone put four past

:03:53. > :03:58.Forfar. Time for the weather outlook for

:03:59. > :04:06.tonight and tomorrow. And Christopher is at the map. The

:04:07. > :04:13.showers continue. Most across central and southern parts. In the

:04:14. > :04:21.next few hours we will start to see clearer skies around Aberdeen,

:04:22. > :04:26.Caithness, Sutherland. Showers are very frequent through the central

:04:27. > :04:31.belt. Dry skies along the Solway coast in towards the Borders,

:04:32. > :04:34.although it could well be chilly. Showers tomorrow, they would

:04:35. > :04:39.continue to fall across Western and southern parts of the country. The

:04:40. > :04:45.driest weather in the north-east, Aberdeen towards Inverness. But one

:04:46. > :04:51.or two passing showers. Temperatures today, between seven and eight

:04:52. > :04:56.Celsius. Looking towards Monday, fairly settled, one or two showers,

:04:57. > :05:00.predominantly in the West. Dry and bright to the east.

:05:01. > :05:02.And that's Reporting Scotland. Our next update is tomorrow lunchtime

:05:03. > :05:05.during Sunday Politics Scotland. Until then, from everyone here,

:05:06. > :05:12.enjoy the rest of your Saturday night.

:05:13. > :05:19.Good evening. Unfortunately I don't have much good news in this

:05:20. > :05:22.forecast. There may be a brief respite later tomorrow with the wind

:05:23. > :05:25.and the rain but it will not be long enough and we have today's storm

:05:26. > :05:29.withers, pounding many coastlines in the south and west, hence the Amber

:05:30. > :05:30.wind warning from the Met
