:00:00. > 3:59:59on BBC One will be at the earlier-than-usual time of 4.25pm

:00:00. > :00:08.this Good afternoon. Nearly 400 women

:00:09. > :00:11.from across Scotland are marking International Women's Day with a

:00:12. > :00:16.convention at the Scottish Parliament. Other events are being

:00:17. > :00:19.held across the country. One of the key speakers at Holryood says women

:00:20. > :00:30.still face significant obstacles in education, employment and public

:00:31. > :00:36.life. When we see the impact of all of the austerity cuts, it is women

:00:37. > :00:42.that are bearing the brunt of them. When these cuts come, there is

:00:43. > :00:46.actually a gender aspect to them. If you look at the figures and look at

:00:47. > :00:52.the reality of them, women are facing a financial detriment whereas

:00:53. > :00:57.men are actually better off. Police say a body found by a walker

:00:58. > :01:00.on a beach in Dumfries and Galloway has been identified as that of a

:01:01. > :01:03.missing man from Annan. 30-year-old Ian Carruthers was last seen in the

:01:04. > :01:07.town in January. Police had released a CCTV image of Mr Carruthers, but

:01:08. > :01:09.his body was discovered on the shore at the village of Portling on

:01:10. > :01:13.Friday. A 15-year-old boy has been seriously

:01:14. > :01:17.injured in a crash in Angus. He was in a car which left the road and hit

:01:18. > :01:20.a tree between Forfar and Carnoustie last night. Police have appealed to

:01:21. > :01:22.any witnesses to the accident to contact them.

:01:23. > :01:25.Now sport: Scotland go to Murrayfield later this afternoon

:01:26. > :01:27.hoping they can build on their victory in Rome with a win over

:01:28. > :01:30.France. Duncan Weir's last gasp drop goal

:01:31. > :01:34.sealed a win for the Scots and restored morale in the squad after

:01:35. > :01:37.its disappointing opening matches in the RBS Six Nations. It's the final

:01:38. > :01:41.game in charge for interim coach Scott Johnson, who says his side has

:01:42. > :01:49.more than enough muscle to deal with a French line-up that's been

:01:50. > :01:54.described as monstrous. I feel privileged to be invited to do what

:01:55. > :01:59.I have been doing. I feel privileged to sit in the stadium, where I set.

:02:00. > :02:06.If you are not excited, you should be dead. It is not what I am about.

:02:07. > :02:11.I am really excited. You can never say they will be a soft touch. They

:02:12. > :02:16.have got fantastic players, aggressive players. The size of

:02:17. > :02:19.their pack is monstrous. I am not worried too much but their backs,

:02:20. > :02:23.but they have got guys that can score from anywhere.

:02:24. > :02:27.And there's live coverage of the match on BBC Scotland TV, radio and

:02:28. > :02:30.online. Kick-off is at 5:00pm. It's a big weekend in football, too.

:02:31. > :02:34.There are two matches this afternoon in the Premiership, with Hibs and

:02:35. > :02:37.Kilmarnock at home. And it's the quarterfinals of the Scottish Cup.

:02:38. > :02:41.There are two ties today, and two tomorrow.

:02:42. > :02:47.Now let's get the latest on the weather. Gillian, how's it looking

:02:48. > :02:52.for the rest of the day? Not bad today. It will be mild. There is a

:02:53. > :02:57.lot of cloud around and very strong winds. We will have patchy rain

:02:58. > :03:01.mainly for the high ground. Some more persistent stuff for the

:03:02. > :03:09.Western -- western isles and the Shetlands. Strong to go force winds

:03:10. > :03:16.across the country, even touching severe gales around exposed coasts.

:03:17. > :03:24.Temperatures ten, 11 or 12 Celsius. Picking at 13 Celsius when we get

:03:25. > :03:29.some sunshine. Into this evening, we hold onto a lot of cloud and bits

:03:30. > :03:33.and pieces of drizzle with more persistent rain in the West by

:03:34. > :03:40.morning. Winds will be strong for most of the night but will ease back

:03:41. > :03:45.towards the morning. Holding up at six Celsius. Tomorrow, the strong to

:03:46. > :03:48.go force winds confined to Shetland, across the north, we will see things

:03:49. > :03:53.brightening up throughout the morning but I'll, a lot of cloud,

:03:54. > :03:55.patchy drizzle. And that's all from Reporting

:03:56. > :03:59.Scotland for now. Our next update's earlier than usual, we're back at

:04:00. > :04:00.4:30pm. Until then, from everyone on the team here, enjoy your Saturday

:04:01. > :04:13.afternoon. Good afternoon. Our weekend forecast

:04:14. > :04:15.did include some sunshine and warmth but was never going
