:00:11. > :00:14.Good evening. On the final day of the Lib-Dem conference in Aberdeen,

:00:15. > :00:17.the Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael has countered claims that

:00:18. > :00:20.Better Together is in trouble. Nationalists say the pro-union

:00:21. > :00:22.campaign has been "holed below the water line" after yesterday's row

:00:23. > :00:25.over currency. But, as our Political Editor Brian Taylor reports from

:00:26. > :00:37.Aberdeen, Mr Carmichael insists Better Together will fight back.

:00:38. > :00:40.Liberal Democrat leaders say the campaign remains strong, but they

:00:41. > :00:48.have suffered from the suggestion that a currency union would be

:00:49. > :00:54.arranged post independence. National assay the unionist hopes are

:00:55. > :00:57.floundering. People with in the own organisation, people with the

:00:58. > :01:03.ministerial team believe, why should Scottish people believe any

:01:04. > :01:10.different? We have no seem that the ball off has been called. Alistair

:01:11. > :01:15.Carmichael concedes that independence may win the day, but

:01:16. > :01:23.says the campaign will offer a better alternative to voters. I do

:01:24. > :01:31.not think we are any different, but look where we are, we are still

:01:32. > :01:39.significantly ahead in all of the surveys. There have been warnings at

:01:40. > :01:45.the conference that the pool union campaign needs to step up its

:01:46. > :01:48.campaign. A man has died after falling on Ben

:01:49. > :01:51.Nevis in the Highlands. The 57-year-old from Glasgow was

:01:52. > :01:54.climbing with a friend on the north face of the mountain in Lochaber

:01:55. > :01:57.yesterday when the accident happened.

:01:58. > :02:00.A major advertising campaign has been launched by a Scottish council

:02:01. > :02:07.to encourage people to come forward if they fear a child's being abused

:02:08. > :02:12.or neglected. It is one of the biggest local campaigns on this

:02:13. > :02:15.issue ever seen in Scotland. But such campaigns, however well

:02:16. > :02:25.intended, are not without their risks. If you live around Greenock

:02:26. > :02:30.or Inverclyde, you could hardly miss this message. There are posters like

:02:31. > :02:34.this in bus shelters, basically saying that people have any

:02:35. > :02:43.suspicion about child abuse, do not leave it until it is too late and

:02:44. > :02:47.phone this phone number. Big local advertising campaigns are

:02:48. > :02:54.exceptional. The intention is to raise awareness of the issue of

:02:55. > :02:59.child neglect and abuse. It is also to reinforce key message that it is

:03:00. > :03:09.everyone's responsibility if they have concerns about abuse or

:03:10. > :03:18.neglect. There is always the risk of a malicious complaint. Yes, but

:03:19. > :03:21.better to be safe than wrong. Certain cases such as the Jimmy

:03:22. > :03:30.Savile enquiry sure what can go wrong. The council has this

:03:31. > :03:36.reassurance that the campaign will not lead to malicious complaints.

:03:37. > :03:40.Our procedures are in place. Our staff know how to investigate and

:03:41. > :03:45.look at enquiries. They will respond accordingly. Some other councils are

:03:46. > :03:48.watching the campaign with interest. To football now and Hearts have

:03:49. > :03:52.staved off relegation, for the time being at least, with a 2-0 victory

:03:53. > :03:54.over city rivals Hibs. The Tynecastle side are languishing

:03:55. > :04:06.bottom of the Scottish Premiership, but frustrated Hibs' efforts to

:04:07. > :04:11.secure their exit. Tynecastle was buzzing for the crunch derby. A BMA

:04:12. > :04:20.and fans were relishing the prospect of relegating the city rivals. But

:04:21. > :04:25.it was Dale Carrick for the home side who made the early impact. A

:04:26. > :04:30.BMA began to make more of an impact towards the of the first half. But

:04:31. > :04:35.there was frustration for them, when they wrongly had the ball

:04:36. > :04:44.disallowed. With headstone to ten men in the final minutes, Billy King

:04:45. > :04:50.delivered the knockout all. Relegation temporarily forgotten. At

:04:51. > :04:53.least from the point of view, it was not their bitter rivals who will

:04:54. > :04:57.have relegated them. Time now for the weather for this

:04:58. > :05:04.evening and the start of the week and Christopher is at the map.

:05:05. > :05:15.Tonight, it stays dry and cloudy. He bitter fog, particularly on the east

:05:16. > :05:23.coast overnight. Some clear skies across Shetland. Tomorrow, little

:05:24. > :05:28.change, I'm afraid. Fairly dry and cloudy for many of us. The best of

:05:29. > :05:35.the brightness in the north-west of the country. As the day progresses,

:05:36. > :05:41.these polls of Riemann, coming up from the south. On Tuesday, the rain

:05:42. > :05:45.beginning to work its way northwards, but behind it, largely

:05:46. > :05:49.dry and the odd nice pale sunshine. Thanks, Chris. And that is Reporting

:05:50. > :05:53.Scotland. Our next update is just after the ten o'clock news. Until

:05:54. > :05:54.then, from everyone on the team here in Glasgow, enjoy the rest of your

:05:55. > :06:08.Sunday evening. Good evening. It has been the

:06:09. > :06:10.warmest
