:00:00. > :00:00.the evening on the BBC News Channel. And I'll be

:00:07. > :00:09.Good evening. The Scottish Prison Service is

:00:10. > :00:14.considering an application from drugs mule Melissa Reid to serve her

:00:15. > :00:16.sentence in Scotland. The 20-year-old from Lenzie was

:00:17. > :00:21.convicted along with Michaella McCollum from Northern Ireland of

:00:22. > :00:31.smuggling cocaine into Peru. Kevin Keane reports.

:00:32. > :00:39.Melissa Reid behind bars in Peru, a place she thought she would remain

:00:40. > :00:43.until 2020. But today it seems she might be soon brought back back to

:00:44. > :00:48.Scotland to serve out the rest of her sentence on home soil. Melissa

:00:49. > :00:53.has written to her father in Lenzie saying prison authorities both there

:00:54. > :00:57.and here have entered discussions about a prisoner transfer. In the

:00:58. > :01:00.latter, she says, though I know it has not been accepted, I feel

:01:01. > :01:06.confident about the process now after having some news so quickly.

:01:07. > :01:14.She goes on, at least I can speak my language 24/7. And be around people

:01:15. > :01:17.similar to me. Melissa and her co-accused were

:01:18. > :01:22.arrested at Lima airport last August, they had been trying to

:01:23. > :01:28.smuggle ?1.5 million worth of cocaine out of the country. They

:01:29. > :01:32.admitted the charge and were each jailed for almost seven years. If

:01:33. > :01:37.Melissa returns, it is likely she will be housed here at Scots and's

:01:38. > :01:42.largest women's Journal. 25 miles from her home. The Justice Secretary

:01:43. > :01:45.has already met the family to discuss the case. If the application

:01:46. > :01:50.is successful, it is thought she could be back in Scotland as early

:01:51. > :01:54.as August. A 43-year-old man has been arrested

:01:55. > :01:57.in connection with the death of a woman in Uddingston. The body of

:01:58. > :02:01.47-year-old Senga Closs, from Elmbank Avenue, was found on

:02:02. > :02:04.Saturday. The arrested man is expected to appear at Hamilton

:02:05. > :02:07.Sheriff Court tomorrow. More than 4,000 people have signed

:02:08. > :02:10.an online petition opposing plans to demolish Glasgow tower blocks as

:02:11. > :02:19.part of the city's Commonwealth Games. Five of the six remaining Red

:02:20. > :02:23.Road blocks of flats will be blown up in July as part of the opening

:02:24. > :02:26.ceremony. Some blocks have already been demolished. Opponents believe

:02:27. > :02:31.the plans are insensitive to former residents and asylum seekers

:02:32. > :02:34.currently living in the sixth block. The Scottish Football Association

:02:35. > :02:38.and the police are looking into claims of racist chanting from

:02:39. > :02:42.international Leigh Griffiths. It relates to a song about former

:02:43. > :02:44.Hearts player Rudi Skacel and comes after Griffiths was already cited

:02:45. > :02:52.for singing about Hearts' financial plight. Griffiths used to play for

:02:53. > :02:54.Hibs, and is now with Celtic. Police officers have intervened

:02:55. > :02:57.following what officers described as a minor disturbance before the

:02:58. > :03:00.Ramsdens Cup final in Edinburgh. They detained 13 fans in the

:03:01. > :03:07.Grassmarket area shortly before the match between Rangers and Raith

:03:08. > :03:10.Rovers. Another six people were arrested before kick-off at the

:03:11. > :03:18.Easter Road stadium and one person was arrested in nearby Albion Road.

:03:19. > :03:22.The match went into extra time. Jubilant scenes were sparked on the

:03:23. > :03:24.pitch. Hundreds of students in their

:03:25. > :03:28.eighties and nineties have been enrolling in Scotland's colleges,

:03:29. > :03:32.according to the latest figures. While that might a step too far for

:03:33. > :03:38.some, many older Scots are realising the educational and social benefits

:03:39. > :03:47.of learning 21st century skills. Kim Karam has been meeting some of them.

:03:48. > :03:52.Age is no barrier for Elizabeth Young. One year ago, the 97-year-old

:03:53. > :03:55.bought a tablet to keep in touch with her daughter in Canada.

:03:56. > :04:02.Elizabeth now uses her computer for a range of functions. When you

:04:03. > :04:11.Skype, you have to press whoever you want to talk to and then you can

:04:12. > :04:16.talk. What about getting news? That might be my next project. When she

:04:17. > :04:24.started school, Lisburn Road on a slate. 90 years later, she is still

:04:25. > :04:30.challenging herself to learn more. Figures show that over 50 students

:04:31. > :04:35.are in their 80s and 90s. For those who want to continue learning, but

:04:36. > :04:40.lack confidence, sessions such as those offered by Edinburgh's have a

:04:41. > :04:50.range of benefits. Your like they are keen to learn. They want to keep

:04:51. > :04:54.up with technology. If you are sitting at home wanting to learn

:04:55. > :04:59.something new, the advice is clear. If we can do it, you can do it. Time

:05:00. > :05:12.for the weather. It was a cloudy day for most, but it

:05:13. > :05:16.did improve for many parts. Tonight, it is staying largely dry. One or

:05:17. > :05:19.two showers across the North up towards Lewis and Harris, but

:05:20. > :05:24.elsewhere fairly dry and some cloud as times. But quite as mild as last

:05:25. > :05:28.night. Around about five or six Celsius. It starts cloudy on Monday,

:05:29. > :05:31.but goes downhill with rain spreading from the South, reaching

:05:32. > :05:35.most part, but North and West of the grey Glen will be largely dry. The

:05:36. > :05:43.rain heaviest, the further East you are. The further West you are, more

:05:44. > :05:49.lighter and patchy. Not as mild as today either. Less windy. Tuesday

:05:50. > :05:52.will be breezy, but dry. Fairly cloudy. Some bright spells mixed

:05:53. > :06:12.in. That is the forecast. Good evening, after a fairly mild

:06:13. > :06:17.weekend, a fresher week in store for the week ahead. Moreshine at times

:06:18. > :06:20.but not a huge amount tomorrow because that's shaping up to be a

:06:21. > :06:23.wet day for just about all of us. The rain developing through the

:06:24. > :06:24.night and it is still wet
