:01:16. > :01:18.Good evening. Detectives believe they've
:01:19. > :01:22.identified a suspect in connection with the murder of a woman at her
:01:23. > :01:24.home in the Crookston area of Glasgow. 51-year-old Isabelle
:01:25. > :01:31.Sanders was stabbed to death in the early hours of yesterday morning.
:01:32. > :01:36.Her 85-year-old partner, Norman Busby, was seriously injured in the
:01:37. > :01:39.attack. Police have linked the murder to a stabbing two hours
:01:40. > :01:45.earlier at a nearby shop. Julie Peacock reports.
:01:46. > :01:49.The police guard outside this home is the only sign this was the scene
:01:50. > :01:54.of a sustained and violent knife attack against a defenceless couple.
:01:55. > :01:58.Police say they have a suspect in mind and are following a positive
:01:59. > :02:02.line of inquiry. They are linking the murderer to an earlier attempt
:02:03. > :02:07.to steal a car from outside a nearby shop. In that incident, the
:02:08. > :02:14.33-year-old driver was stabbed by a man with a knife. That person was
:02:15. > :02:20.last seen running off towards Howes Hill Park. A very similar
:02:21. > :02:25.description, 700 yards from here. And we believe they are now linked.
:02:26. > :02:30.There is a mark of desperation which again appears to be similar to what
:02:31. > :02:33.happened at this address. Eyewitnesses say the driver was
:02:34. > :02:44.attacked just after 11pm on Tuesday evening. He said, somebody try to
:02:45. > :02:54.steal my car. And we shot the shop doors. There was blood on the floor.
:02:55. > :02:59.Somebody try to put the knife in his leg. Isabelle Sanders was murdered
:03:00. > :03:04.just a couple of hours later. Police say this may have been a failed
:03:05. > :03:07.attempt to steal the couple's car which has been taken away for
:03:08. > :03:13.forensic analysis. Police have found no reason why this couple were
:03:14. > :03:17.targeted. A neighbour told me today how he heard Norman Busby's alarm go
:03:18. > :03:23.off and rushed to help the couple. When he got here, he said he was
:03:24. > :03:26.horrified at what he saw. He said it was too late to save Isabelle
:03:27. > :03:30.Sanders but Norman Busby told him he had and served the door to a man who
:03:31. > :03:35.had perished in and attacked them. Isabelle Sanders' partner is still
:03:36. > :03:40.in the high dependency unit in hospital, police say he is
:03:41. > :03:43.recovering. They point out if it was not for the swift medical care they
:03:44. > :03:49.received, this could easily have been a double murder.
:03:50. > :03:55.And Julie Peacock joins us from the scene of the murder now. What's the
:03:56. > :04:00.latest in the investigation, Julie? This is an investigation that is
:04:01. > :04:04.very much still ongoing. Earlier, we saw forensic teams leave the house
:04:05. > :04:08.with bags of evidence. While the police say they have a suspect in
:04:09. > :04:11.mind, there are still some people they would like to speak to, the
:04:12. > :04:16.first of them was a taxi driver who was possibly in the skull around the
:04:17. > :04:20.time of the attack. They want to want to speak to him in case he saw
:04:21. > :04:25.anything crucial. They want to speak to a driver who was on the Crookston
:04:26. > :04:29.Road behind this estate. He may have had to swerve to avoid the suspect
:04:30. > :04:36.and they also want to speak to him as well. Police are pointing out
:04:37. > :04:39.that the suspect carried out a violent attack and they believe he
:04:40. > :04:43.would have had some blood on his clothing so they are asking anybody
:04:44. > :04:48.who saw somebody matching the description of a man between the age
:04:49. > :04:54.of 20 and 30 with bloodstained clothing to contact them. Thanks
:04:55. > :04:58.very much. It's a form of internet abuse that's
:04:59. > :05:00.on the increase in Scotland, and today the Lord Advocate, Frank
:05:01. > :05:03.Mulholland, called for new legislation to deal with the
:05:04. > :05:06.problem. It's known as Revenge Porn, and involves people posting explicit
:05:07. > :05:09.pictures and videos of their former partners online. Our political
:05:10. > :05:14.correspondent Lucy Adams is here with me in the studio. So what
:05:15. > :05:17.exactly are we talking about, Lucy? In some countries it's described as
:05:18. > :05:20.virtual rape. It involves people uploading sexually explicit content
:05:21. > :05:26.of ex-partners without their permission. It is a massive reach of
:05:27. > :05:32.trust. It affects adult and children. Victims talk about feeling
:05:33. > :05:35.abused when people click on an image. Some victims have committed
:05:36. > :05:37.suicide as a result. The Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland has today
:05:38. > :05:45.called for new, "bespoke" legislation to tackle the distress,
:05:46. > :05:49.upset and humiliation for victims. He says he wants to send out a
:05:50. > :05:56.strong message that this will not be tolerated in Scotland. I think there
:05:57. > :05:59.is a need for it, it is becoming more and more common, we are seeing
:06:00. > :06:04.laws being passed across the world, a number of states in the US have
:06:05. > :06:10.passed revenge porn registration. In Australia, Brazil and other
:06:11. > :06:13.countries, they are bringing forward legislation to be able to deal with
:06:14. > :06:16.it. I would not like Scotland to be at the end of the line. There is a
:06:17. > :06:24.need for this legislation to be passed in Scotland. What has been
:06:25. > :06:27.the reaction to this? Campaigners have welcomed the move, but say
:06:28. > :06:29.legislation alone cannot address the problem. They seek greater controls
:06:30. > :06:35.of the internet and awareness-raising. How website hosts
:06:36. > :06:45.deal with this. They want to see police, prosecutors and websites to
:06:46. > :06:52.crack down on the problem. Reported to the police. Get a friend to
:06:53. > :06:55.witness it. It is difficult because it is not pleasant to do because of
:06:56. > :07:00.the images, but it is not your fault, it is not the fact that you
:07:01. > :07:03.have had this image taken, it is the fact that it has been nonconsensual
:07:04. > :07:07.Lee and maliciously shared or put out there to shame and upset and
:07:08. > :07:10.abuse it. For the growing number of victims, this will be a welcome
:07:11. > :07:15.development but ultimately policing the internet remains a daunting
:07:16. > :07:19.task. Revenge by ex-partners is not a modern phenomenon but the World
:07:20. > :07:28.Wide Web has taken it to another level. Thank you very much indeed.
:07:29. > :07:32.An A380 super jumbo has landed in Scotland for the first time and
:07:33. > :07:35.large crowds turned out to watch it touch down at Glasgow. Our transport
:07:36. > :07:42.correspondent, David Miller was with them.
:07:43. > :07:49.Flying into Glasgow and a place in Scottish aviation history. The pilot
:07:50. > :07:58.a local boy from Clydebank clearly relished every minute. It was great,
:07:59. > :08:02.it was a delight. What is she like to fly? Beautiful. She is very light
:08:03. > :08:10.and responsive than just a joy to fly. Everything about this aircraft
:08:11. > :08:17.is huge, it can comparably carry more 500 passengers. And it has a
:08:18. > :08:21.wingspan of 18 metres. There is a big question as well. Will this
:08:22. > :08:27.aircraft returned to Scotland's skies any time soon? We are happy we
:08:28. > :08:37.are here, delighted. We don't have immediate plans to change anything,
:08:38. > :08:43.it is not on the agenda. 8080 is not set to be a regular visitor. But
:08:44. > :08:50.Scotland's two busiest airports are fighting hard to win new long haul
:08:51. > :08:53.routes and attract bigger aircraft. We have created another first year
:08:54. > :08:57.in Scottish aviation history. Glasgow has regularly got the second
:08:58. > :09:00.and third largest passenger aircraft on the ground here but today we
:09:01. > :09:08.brought the biggest passenger aircraft to the ground. By the
:09:09. > :09:13.summer, we will have six long haul hubs, for in North America,
:09:14. > :09:18.Istanbul, with Turkish airlines, and cut doodle half. That is huge
:09:19. > :09:24.progression. The super jumble is already on its way back to Dubai.
:09:25. > :09:31.Leaving this guys over Glasgow Airport feeling empty this evening.

:09:42. > :09:45.In sport, further evidence of our national football team's improvement

:10:01. > :10:04.The Scottish National Party is gathering in Aberdeen for its final
:10:05. > :10:07.party conference before the referendum on independence in

:10:10. > :10:14."can, should and must" be independent. Our political editor
:10:15. > :10:23.Brian Taylor is in Aberdeen tonight. What's the theme going to be, Brian?
:10:24. > :10:29.Or have I just articulated it? You got it in one. Party conferences can
:10:30. > :10:33.be a fairly eclectic mix of the range of debates and topics. There
:10:34. > :10:41.is only one purpose for this conference. It is a countdown on the
:10:42. > :10:45.platform behind me. It is the referendum in September, at the
:10:46. > :10:49.18th, I asked Nicola Sturgeon, the deputy leader of the party, to spell
:10:50. > :10:55.out what she saw as the conference theme. We will set out that Scotland
:10:56. > :10:59.can be independent. We would be the 14th richest country in the world,
:11:00. > :11:03.we will set out that we should be independent to give us the powers we
:11:04. > :11:08.need to make Scotland a better place to live, a more prosperous and
:11:09. > :11:11.fairer society. I am setting out that we must be independent because
:11:12. > :11:15.the alternative is continuing to have decisions taken at Westminster,
:11:16. > :11:22.often by the government to redo not vote for. Mrs Sturgeon says that
:11:23. > :11:26.Scotland is better off in the UK. In terms of the conference, it gets
:11:27. > :11:30.under way tomorrow. One of the first items on the agenda will be a
:11:31. > :11:35.tribute from Alex Salmond to the late Margo MacDonald. Thank you very
:11:36. > :11:38.much. The Deputy First Minister Nicola
:11:39. > :11:42.Sturgeon has defended the plan to demolish Glasgow's Red Road flats as
:11:43. > :11:45.part of the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games. Ms Sturgeon told
:11:46. > :11:48.BBC Scotland it was a "good idea" to feature the revitalisation of
:11:49. > :11:52.Glasgow in the opening event. But Ms Sturgeon also said it was important
:11:53. > :12:00.to listen to the people of Glasgow - including those who have expressed
:12:01. > :12:03.strong opposition to the plan. 700 new jobs have been confirmed by

:12:25. > :12:27.This week on Reporting Scotland we're been looking at changes to the

:12:32. > :12:35.However, the UK Government believe the changes are needed to cut the

:12:49. > :12:51.Here at this trust in Glasgow, they support people with long-term mental

:13:36. > :13:38.In the building behind me, they hold the work capability assessments,
:13:39. > :13:41.which began in 2008 under the last Labour government. They were
:13:42. > :13:45.criticised then and the criticism has continued under the current

:13:50. > :13:56.particularly in the way patients with mental health problems have
:13:57. > :13:59.been treated. Because of incorrect decisions that
:14:00. > :14:03.they are fit for work, it isn't good for people and is damaging to the

:14:24. > :14:26.to fine-tune the assessment so we can cut the number of appeals and
:14:27. > :14:31.get the decision right the first time, rather than have to go to

:14:39. > :14:45.by employers, not just a tightening of the benefit rules, to get people
:14:46. > :14:50.into work. A look now at other stories from
:14:51. > :14:54.around Scotland. A woman has died, after a car she

:15:41. > :15:49.Edinburgh is estimated to have had just over 200 deaths, while Orkney
:15:50. > :15:53.and Shetland have the least. In relative terms, Scotland is
:15:54. > :15:56.suffering less from the effects of air pollution than other parts of

:21:14. > :21:21.one ahead of Sandy Lyle in 19 88. Now we can update you on what else
:21:22. > :21:25.is happening on Scottish sport. Scotland have made it six wins from
:21:26. > :21:27.six matches in the Women's World cup qualifiers. Winning 3-1 in Bosnia
:21:28. > :21:30.this afternoon. Jane Ross scoring all three goals. The Scots top their
:21:31. > :21:32.group. Former world 100 metres record
:21:33. > :21:36.holder Asafa Powell's been banned for doping so will miss the Glasgow
:21:37. > :21:38.2014 Games. The Jamacian won't be able to compete again till the end
:21:39. > :21:41.of the year. Edinburgh Rugby's head coach has
:21:42. > :21:44.thrown his support behind the creation of a third professional
:21:45. > :21:50.team in Scotland. At the moment Glasgow Warriors are the only other
:21:51. > :21:57.pro side. From a rugby point of view, a third
:21:58. > :22:00.club would be of value. Britain's para-cyclists are in
:22:01. > :22:03.Mexico for the World Championships - among the competitors is a Scot
:22:04. > :22:10.tipped for gold at the Commonwealth Games - he's keeping an eye on medal
:22:11. > :22:16.rivals. We have stiff competition from the
:22:17. > :22:17.us billions. A good chance to practice.
:22:18. > :22:21.Olympic silver medallist Micheal Jamieson swims in the final of the
:22:22. > :22:23.200 metres breaststroke at the British Championships in Glasgow
:22:24. > :22:27.tonight. He's already qualified for Glasgow 2014.
:22:28. > :22:30.More on Scotland's ascent up the world rankings - and all the
:22:31. > :22:39.breaking stories on the BBC Sport Scotland website.
:22:40. > :22:46.Some breaking news: Rugby's European cup will be the European champions
:22:47. > :22:52.cup from next season. Scotland will be guaranteed one place. Two places
:22:53. > :23:03.if Glasgow and Edinburgh finish in the top six of the April 12 league.
:23:04. > :23:06.That is all the sport. A time-lapsed film of the
:23:07. > :23:09.construction of the giant steel horse-heads known as the Kelpies has
:23:10. > :23:14.been released today. We've been speaking to the man who made the
:23:15. > :23:22.film about how he did it. The filming technique we use is unique.
:23:23. > :23:33.Hopefully it matches the sculptures themselves. We take photographs and
:23:34. > :23:42.use them like sculpture. We frame every single photograph. It is quite
:23:43. > :23:51.difficult. Moving inches at a time. Nothing is computer-generated. It is
:23:52. > :24:01.not greedy. It is all real. Camera movement is done by hand. 95% by
:24:02. > :24:09.hand. The light is just as the camera sees it. No effects. Some was
:24:10. > :24:18.shot in January. We wanted night-time shots. In the summer, you
:24:19. > :24:22.do not get darkness. Some of the best shots in the film where
:24:23. > :24:30.miserable, cold nights. But I think it was worth it. I think the Kelpies
:24:31. > :24:34.are amazing. I spent a lot of nights filming them. Trying to capture
:24:35. > :24:41.their qualities. I hope the film does them justice. I think people
:24:42. > :24:54.should go and see them. Not just in the daytime, but at night.
:24:55. > :25:01.More sunshine around this evening than they ever had for most of the
:25:02. > :25:07.day. We have finally gotten rid of that bank of stubborn cloud plaguing
:25:08. > :25:12.Scotland for such a long time. We will keep a scattering of showers
:25:13. > :25:15.across the North. Overnight, they become confined to the northern and
:25:16. > :25:26.western aisles. Elsewhere, drying with clear spells. Turning Chile as
:25:27. > :25:31.skies are clear. Low temperatures, so some frost as well. A chilly
:25:32. > :25:41.start tomorrow. But fine and dry and bright. Still some showers over the
:25:42. > :25:45.north and west. Even here, we lose most of that during the morning. In
:25:46. > :26:07.the afternoon, some lovely spring weather. We may see cloud coming in
:26:08. > :26:18.from the West. Towards the end of the afternoon, rain in the West.
:26:19. > :26:22.Towards tomorrow evening, the rain pushes across much of the country.
:26:23. > :26:35.As we head into Saturday, the weather front moves, tracking across
:26:36. > :26:47.the country. An improvement for the afternoon. It will stay blustery. On
:26:48. > :26:53.Sunday, a brisk westerly airflow. Rain in the West. Sunshine in the
:26:54. > :27:02.East. Thanks. Now, a reminder of tonight's
:27:03. > :27:05.main news. Police believe they've identified a
:27:06. > :27:09.suspect in connection with the murder of a woman at her home in
:27:10. > :27:13.Glasgow. Detectives have also linked the murder to a stabbing two hours
:27:14. > :27:16.earlier at a nearby shop. Nigel Evans, the former House of
:27:17. > :27:19.Commons deputy speaker, has been cleared of a string of sexual
:27:20. > :27:22.offences including one count of rape. The MP for Ribble Valley broke
:27:23. > :27:26.down in tears when the not guilty verdicts were read out but says he
:27:27. > :27:33.now wants to get back to his parliamentary work.
:27:34. > :27:43.And that's Reporting Scotland. Have a very good evening.
