:00:50. > :00:55.And Hibernian's new boss Alan Stubbs says he can take the club back

:00:56. > :01:17.Muslim leaders in Aberdeen have urged the man

:01:18. > :01:21.identified in a jihadist recruitment video to return to his family.

:01:22. > :01:23.Abdul Rakib Amin, who was brought up in the city, appeared with other

:01:24. > :01:27.young British Muslims in the video, which was released by the Islamic

:01:28. > :01:39.militant group, ISIS. Our reporter is in Aberdeen tonight.

:01:40. > :01:50.Evening prayer is underway at this moss, where 1's Abdul Rakib Amin

:01:51. > :01:55.worshipped. Earlier we heard condemnation and saw almost painful

:01:56. > :02:01.consternation that this man had appeared in this video urging

:02:02. > :02:12.Muslims to come to the Middle East to fight. This picture shows at 1213

:02:13. > :02:17.-year-old Abdul Rakib Amin, -- 12 or 13-year-old. There is flashing

:02:18. > :02:21.imagery in this report. In Aberdeen, where he used to attend,

:02:22. > :02:33.condemnation of his actions unequivocal. No political, no

:02:34. > :02:42.political or religious cause could ever be assisted by such acts of

:02:43. > :02:51.incited terrorism. These activities are against both divine and human

:02:52. > :02:59.laws. And we condemn them in the strongest terms.

:03:00. > :03:05.This is him in a video released by the terror group. He and courage of

:03:06. > :03:11.other British Muslims to join fighting in Syria and Iraq. It is a

:03:12. > :03:18.long way from the streets in Aberdeen where he grew up. He moved

:03:19. > :03:22.from Bangladesh as a child. From the primary school where he played with

:03:23. > :03:27.his friends, or from the secondary school where one friends described

:03:28. > :03:32.him as a normal lad. He was outgoing, got into trouble now and

:03:33. > :03:37.again, but nothing major, just a normal guy. What did you think when

:03:38. > :03:43.you saw the video and recognise them? I just could not believe it. I

:03:44. > :03:48.was shocked. I hope it does not have an effect on the Asian community in

:03:49. > :03:56.Aberdeen. How he went from worshipping here to jihad in the

:03:57. > :04:02.Middle East remains a mystery. The Imam is adamant radicalisation did

:04:03. > :04:08.not stand here is -- did not start here. I would say to him, come back

:04:09. > :04:16.to your family feel stop he is not the only one. Officials say that

:04:17. > :04:24.there are 400 or 500, we say to them, come back to your family. The

:04:25. > :04:30.Imam said that he had no official role that the mosque, and everyone

:04:31. > :04:34.is cooperating with the authorities. We understand that several police

:04:35. > :04:39.forces and security services have launched an investigation since this

:04:40. > :04:43.video appeared with him. Tonight, politicians and community groups are

:04:44. > :04:46.anxious to reiterate that this is not representative of the Muslim

:04:47. > :04:53.community in Aberdeen or Scotland. The Scottish Cabinet discussed the

:04:54. > :04:56.issue at its meeting today. But ministers say Abdul Rakib Amin is in

:04:57. > :04:59.no way representative of the Islamic community as a whole. Community

:05:00. > :05:01.leaders insist they're doing everything they can to prevent young

:05:02. > :05:15.people from becoming radicalised. Slightly over 2% of Scotland's

:05:16. > :05:20.population are Muslims. Even in Glasgow it is only 6%. Scottish

:05:21. > :05:24.ministers say that that is one reason why the radicalisation of

:05:25. > :05:34.young Ms limbs is not a significant problem. The Muslim community is

:05:35. > :05:40.horrified. I heard the Imam of the Aberdeen mosque speak of his

:05:41. > :05:48.horror, and the Muslim community will be just as shocked. The centre

:05:49. > :05:53.offers events for groups of all faiths, but Muslim leaders say that

:05:54. > :05:58.it also offers guidance for young people trying to establish their

:05:59. > :06:02.identities. In this country, we do not feel any different as Muslims,

:06:03. > :06:09.we are Scottish. That is very important. We want to educate our

:06:10. > :06:12.youngsters, help guide them on the right path with regards to their

:06:13. > :06:20.religion, and obviously that is the key. Community leaders insist that

:06:21. > :06:25.Islam is a peaceful religion where radicalism has no place. They offer

:06:26. > :06:30.one possible reason why he has been tempted. You see these guys, they

:06:31. > :06:36.are all brought up in this country. But if you keep targeting them as

:06:37. > :06:46.immigrants, foreigners, you are weakening the link to this country,

:06:47. > :06:49.which is normally very strong. Ministers agree, since Scotland

:06:50. > :06:52.cannot be immune from radical activity, that proves the need for

:06:53. > :06:57.vigilance through liaison with the police and community leaders.

:06:58. > :06:58.You're watching Reporting Scotland from the BBC.

:06:59. > :07:00.Still to come on tonight's programme.

:07:01. > :07:05.On the latest leg of the Queen's Baton, a steam launch was used to

:07:06. > :07:09.In sport, we'll be live at Easter Road as Hibernian announce

:07:10. > :07:15.And the former Rangers and Scotland skipper in the pink to lead

:07:16. > :07:25.700 years ago today, the forces of Robert the Bruce

:07:26. > :07:28.defeated the English army at the Battle of Bannockburn.

:07:29. > :07:30.The anniversary has been marked by the laying of a wreath

:07:31. > :07:35.It's part of a series of events culminating next weekend in a full

:07:36. > :07:46.Andrew Anderson is at Bannockburn tonight.

:07:47. > :07:53.This piece of ground has been at the centre of the Bannockburn

:07:54. > :07:56.commemorations today. Earlier a small group of schoolchildren from

:07:57. > :08:00.three nations came to pay the respect to the thousands of men who

:08:01. > :08:07.died on this battlefield 700 years ago. Led by a lone drummer,

:08:08. > :08:14.schoolchildren from Scotland, England and Wales. They had flowers

:08:15. > :08:18.for the following of 1314. They laid their grief at the spot where it is

:08:19. > :08:24.believed Robert the Bruce raised his standard on the eve of the Battle of

:08:25. > :08:28.Bannockburn. Today at 700 years -- today it is 700 years since his army

:08:29. > :08:34.was victorious after two days of fighting. He prepared his ground and

:08:35. > :08:39.men, he had a plan. Edward the second did not seem to have a clue

:08:40. > :08:44.about what he intended to do, other than bring an army to leave Stirling

:08:45. > :08:49.Castle. Robert the Bruce's army was outnumbered, and were fighting for

:08:50. > :08:55.no -- control of nearby Stirling Castle. This was one of the Wars of

:08:56. > :09:02.Scottish independence. Today are battlefield tour at the Bannock Burn

:09:03. > :09:09.itself. At the end of the battle, it was said to be choked with the

:09:10. > :09:14.bodies of the dead. Time to pause is asked -- as a mark of respect. I

:09:15. > :09:19.have been here many times, but not down here being aware of what took

:09:20. > :09:23.place on this very ground. Most kids know about Bannockburn. It is a key

:09:24. > :09:31.turning point in the establishment of the kingdom. It is a key part of

:09:32. > :09:34.Scottish history, it is important. ?9 million was spent upgrading the

:09:35. > :09:41.visitor centre for the anniversary. High-tech 3-D graphics help tell the

:09:42. > :09:47.story. The heritage is in us, it is important to all Scots. It is

:09:48. > :09:51.important that 700 years to the day we recognise it. A moment in

:09:52. > :09:56.Scottish history that still resonates with many, it seems. There

:09:57. > :10:02.will be re-enactments of the battle here, this coming weekend, that is

:10:03. > :10:06.part of the Bannockburn eventful stop some controversy surrounding

:10:07. > :10:12.the event, sales of tickets appeared to be slow to begin with but the

:10:13. > :10:13.organisers believe they will attract between 10000 and 15,000 people this

:10:14. > :10:16.Saturday and Sunday. There's been an increase

:10:17. > :10:18.in the number of cancer patients waiting too long for treatment,

:10:19. > :10:21.according to official figures. The Scottish Government, under

:10:22. > :10:23.health Secretary Alec Neil, has a target that 95% of people diagnosed

:10:24. > :10:26.with cancer should wait no more than But 92% of patients were treated

:10:27. > :10:31.within that time at the start of 2014 - a reduction of three

:10:32. > :10:40.percentage points on last year. Serious problems with

:10:41. > :10:42.the treatment of elderly patients has led to disciplinary action being

:10:43. > :10:45.taken at a major Glasgow hospital. Inspectors at the city's

:10:46. > :10:47.Victoria Infirmary saw staff pulling a patient in a chair,

:10:48. > :10:51.with the patient's feet dragging They also criticised

:10:52. > :10:56.the practice known as boarding - moving patients from ward to ward

:10:57. > :10:59.to help with bed shortages, rather NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

:11:00. > :11:05.said it had taken immediate With just over a month to go to

:11:06. > :11:12.the start of the Commonwealth Games, a scheme is being launched to get

:11:13. > :11:15.people in Glasgow on their bikes. The Mass Automated Cycle Hire will

:11:16. > :11:22.see hundreds of bicycles for hire at locations across the city.

:11:23. > :11:34.Suzanne Allan reports. I would like to rent a bike in

:11:35. > :11:39.Glasgow please. Lucy Clarke is already a keen cyclist, but she does

:11:40. > :11:44.not use her bike everyday. This may change her mind. I would use it to

:11:45. > :11:47.commute to work. It is quicker to cycles than get public transport,

:11:48. > :11:51.and I think the same would go for a lot of people in the city centre. It

:11:52. > :12:01.would be a great way to go to the shops, and local places. 400 bikes

:12:02. > :12:07.will be available at hubs across the city. It costs between ?1 for the

:12:08. > :12:12.first 30 minutes, to ?60 a year per annual membership. This is one of 31

:12:13. > :12:16.bike stations around the city. They are unmanned so you do everything

:12:17. > :12:20.yourself. It is a computer at the back, so you can swipe it with your

:12:21. > :12:24.smartphone, go online or make a simple phone call. This computer

:12:25. > :12:32.gives you a PIN number, and you unlock the bay, and that is it. It

:12:33. > :12:36.is meant to get a sitter, healthier and greener. There has been a 50%

:12:37. > :12:40.increase in people cycling in and out of the city centre in the past

:12:41. > :12:46.three years. We are investing to make it safe and fun. Something

:12:47. > :12:55.similar, nicknamed Boris's takes has been running in London for four

:12:56. > :12:58.years. As Boris is bikes. I will give it a try. It is far too busy

:12:59. > :13:06.and you would either get hit or something. It is too dangerous.

:13:07. > :13:11.Cycling groups agree, they've like the scheme but want to see the

:13:12. > :13:15.streets safer. Laszlo City Council are not doing enough to make it safe

:13:16. > :13:18.for cyclists. I know a lot of cyclists in the given up on the

:13:19. > :13:29.moment because they feel it is too dangerous. -- Glasgow City Council.

:13:30. > :13:32.The council says it is spending ?4 million on cycling and it wants this

:13:33. > :13:37.to be the biggest participation activity in the city by 2020.

:13:38. > :13:39.A look at other stories from across the country.

:13:40. > :13:41.A man has been charged with attempting to murder

:13:42. > :13:44.a taxi driver and an elderly woman in South Lanarkshire.

:13:45. > :13:47.James McFarlane is accused of striking Andrew Burns with

:13:48. > :13:51.a knife in Cambuslang's Glenburn Avenue on Friday night

:13:52. > :13:56.The 33-year-old is also charged with striking 68-year-old Jean

:13:57. > :14:05.The visitor centre at Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness

:14:06. > :14:09.Historic Scotland says the detectors were being installed

:14:10. > :14:11.as a precaution, and in response to the results

:14:12. > :14:18.Bishop Joseph Toal has been formally installed as the new Bishop

:14:19. > :14:22.of Motherwell, the country's second-largest diocese.

:14:23. > :14:25.A Mass was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady Of Good Aid

:14:26. > :14:32.He succeeds Joseph Devine, who retired last year.

:14:33. > :14:35.A company has been charged after an explosion at an Aberdeenshire hotel

:14:36. > :14:40.It happened at the Drumtochty Arms in Auchenblae, five years ago.

:14:41. > :14:42.A representative of Instant Catering Maintenance Limited is due to appear

:14:43. > :14:46.at Aberdeen Sheriff Court tomorrow, facing allegations under the Health

:14:47. > :14:54.A study into the future of court services in the Borders recommends

:14:55. > :14:56.retaining the existing Sheriff Courts in Jedburgh and Selkirk.

:14:57. > :15:01.Those in Duns and Peebles are scheduled to close next year.

:15:02. > :15:03.The report, approved by the Scottish Courts

:15:04. > :15:09.Service Board, says this best meets the needs of local communities.

:15:10. > :15:14.Filling stations in the Western Isles will no longer have to buy

:15:15. > :15:20.This follows an investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority

:15:21. > :15:32.The CMA says it could make fuel prices more competitive.

:15:33. > :15:35.The life of the former British number-one tennis player

:15:36. > :15:37.Elena Baltacha, who died last month, has been remembered at Wimbledon.

:15:38. > :15:39.The reigning Ladies' Singles champion Marion Bartoli

:15:40. > :15:42.and a nine-year-old girl from the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis

:15:43. > :15:45.tossed the coin on Centre Court, ahead of the opening ladies' match.

:15:46. > :15:47.Ms Baltacha died last month aged just 30,

:15:48. > :15:59.Now, let's get updated on what's been

:16:00. > :16:01.happening in the world of sport. Here's Rhona.

:16:02. > :16:03.Hibernian's new head coach Alan Stubbs is confident he can earn

:16:04. > :16:05.the club promotion back to the Premiership.

:16:06. > :16:08.The 42-year-old was announced as the club?s eighth man in charge

:16:09. > :16:13.in ten years this afternoon. Our reporter is at Easter Road.

:16:14. > :16:21.Phil, what are Hibs getting in Alan Stubbs?

:16:22. > :16:32.Firstly, this really is becoming an regular occurrence. A reporter

:16:33. > :16:37.standing here discussing another Hibs appointment. He has spent five

:16:38. > :16:44.years in the heart of the Celtic defence from the mid-19 90s. He also

:16:45. > :16:48.played for Bolton and Everton, where, for the last six years, he

:16:49. > :16:56.has been head coach of the under 21 's. Crucially, this evening, heads

:16:57. > :17:07.have appointed a new man with no managerial experience. -- Hibs. The

:17:08. > :17:10.chief executive says he was the standout choice for a future

:17:11. > :17:14.manager, with a clear vision of what he wants to produce. Positive

:17:15. > :17:22.results, playing attractive football and developing new players.

:17:23. > :17:28.We also know it will be a new regime because we are calling him the head

:17:29. > :17:32.coach, and not manager. It is a new football structure being

:17:33. > :17:36.put into place here at Easter Road. A continental style model designed

:17:37. > :17:47.for continued long-term success, that is the words of Hibs. Alan

:17:48. > :17:51.Stubbs is head coach, and we will find out more about who is assisting

:17:52. > :17:55.him on Thursday, when he is presented to the media. Fan that I

:17:56. > :17:59.spoke to outside said they do not care whether he has managerial

:18:00. > :18:01.experience or not, all they want is for him to lead them back into the

:18:02. > :18:07.Scottish premiership next season. Barry Ferguson says he's determined

:18:08. > :18:10.to lead on and off the park in his The former Rangers and Scotland

:18:11. > :18:14.captain was caretaker manager He has only one target for Clyde

:18:15. > :18:20.this season, and that is promotion. One thing's for sure,

:18:21. > :18:33.they will be the team in the pink in Pretty in pink, that is what Clyde

:18:34. > :18:38.will be in their new third strip this season. It will also raise

:18:39. > :18:46.awareness and money for breast cancer for charity. Having lifted

:18:47. > :18:52.titles as a player with Rangers, Barry Ferguson aims to do the same

:18:53. > :18:55.with this club. They have been in the bottom tier for too long. I do

:18:56. > :19:02.not want to go on and be happy with a play-off place. We want to try and

:19:03. > :19:08.get promoted. Avoiding relegation in a 3.5 months spent in Blackpool has

:19:09. > :19:11.prepared him for a new job. My challenge was to keep them in the

:19:12. > :19:17.championship, and I was determined to do it. I am positive, and it was

:19:18. > :19:19.a bit of a roller-coaster, there were some good results and some

:19:20. > :19:25.terrible results. That I learned so much. This will be home for Harry

:19:26. > :19:31.Ferguson this season. But you may see more of him on the pitch playing

:19:32. > :19:39.than here coaching. They wanted me to be the manager but one of the

:19:40. > :19:43.questions was, would I play? I am still fit enough to play, so I will

:19:44. > :19:49.do a preseason and see how it goes. As it stands, I will play. And if

:19:50. > :19:51.that helps results go in the favour, he could be in the pink come the end

:19:52. > :20:14.of the season. You probably noticed that was Alan

:20:15. > :20:20.Stubbs playing in an old firm game, so that did not happen in today's

:20:21. > :20:21.Scottish sport, apologies for that. We can find out what has been

:20:22. > :20:23.happening today now. Scottish champions Celtic returned

:20:24. > :20:25.to pre-season training today. Their Champions League campaign

:20:26. > :20:27.kicks off in three weeks. First session under the watchful eye

:20:28. > :20:30.of new manager Ronnie Diela, with assistant John Collins looking at

:20:31. > :20:48.ease back in the Celtic set-up The -- The Scotland tourists were given

:20:49. > :20:50.a warm welcome in Port Elizabeth Vern Cotter?s men have arrived

:20:51. > :20:53.in South Africa for the fourth They'll take on the might

:20:54. > :20:59.of the Springboks on Saturday. The atmosphere will be a wreck that

:21:00. > :21:06.electric. The players and supporters in South Africa is always great. It

:21:07. > :21:09.will be great to be out in front of them.

:21:10. > :21:12.Andy Murray was back on the practice court after yesterday?s

:21:13. > :21:14.straight-sets opener, and next meets Slovenian left-hander Blaz Rola.

:21:15. > :21:16.And having a Wimbledon champ is having a big

:21:17. > :21:27.It is unbelievable. He is an inspiration. You see some young kids

:21:28. > :21:28.who want to be like him. Having a Wimbledon champion is no bad thing.

:21:29. > :21:31.It makes my job a lot easier. And there's more on Hibs? new boss

:21:32. > :21:34.Alan Stubbs, plus build-up to tomorrow?s Andy Murray match on

:21:35. > :21:39.the BBC Sport Scotland's website. That is all the sport, with an extra

:21:40. > :21:51.blast from the past! The streets around Falkirk have been

:21:52. > :21:54.lined with cheering crowds, as the Commonwealth Games baton made

:21:55. > :21:56.its way through the area. Thousands of schoolchildren gave it

:21:57. > :21:59.a noisy reception at the Falkirk Right now, the baton is

:22:00. > :22:18.at its final destination, Here that the kelpie 's it is all

:22:19. > :22:26.rather quiet. -- here at the the Kelpies. It arrived to these

:22:27. > :22:32.statues. It was brought on a barge, what else? It was brought by Keith,

:22:33. > :22:38.who is a basketball player. The canal is not the place it started.

:22:39. > :22:43.It started this morning on the canal, further upstream. It started

:22:44. > :22:48.at the Falkirk water wheel, we let came in front of 600 schoolchildren

:22:49. > :22:59.on a rather vintage steam barge, carried by Adam mastic coach. --

:23:00. > :23:07.gymnastic coach. We have Keith with us now. It happened about 15 minutes

:23:08. > :23:13.ago. Wasn't fantastic? A dream. I have lived all my life in Falkirk,

:23:14. > :23:20.and to have such an iconic spot on the route was a dream. You were in

:23:21. > :23:26.2006 in Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Does that make it extra

:23:27. > :23:32.special? Absolutely. Sport is my life. It can bring so much to people

:23:33. > :23:37.and communities all across Scotland. It is a fantastic thing, and being a

:23:38. > :23:42.sports person, it makes it more special to bring sport and all it

:23:43. > :23:48.can to the local area. What did you think about daddy carrying the

:23:49. > :23:52.baton? Good? Absolutely speechless. It has now gone to the other side of
