:00:32. > :00:37.With five days to go until the Commonwealth Games, the organisers

:00:38. > :00:42.are confident everything is ready to go. In six days time our first

:00:43. > :00:46.spectators will be walking through the door.

:00:47. > :00:51.At the athletes village organisers say they have traced the cause of

:00:52. > :00:54.the suspected nor a virus outbreak. Also on the programme: Detectives

:00:55. > :00:59.say they are making progress in the hunt for the attack of an

:01:00. > :01:02.85-year-old woman in Edinburgh. Swimmer Michael Jamieson says he

:01:03. > :01:10.wants to do something special at the Commonwealth Games.

:01:11. > :01:22.And the baton relay is heading up the River Clyde.

:01:23. > :01:29.Good evening. A man has been charged with repeatedly shooting and killing

:01:30. > :01:38.a well-known Lasko prankster outside a busy supermarket in front of

:01:39. > :01:44.terrified shoppers. Paterson is accused of killing Carrol, known as

:01:45. > :01:51.Gerbil four years ago. It was around lunch time on the 13th

:01:52. > :01:56.of January 2010. Here, on this CCTV footage, you can see shoppers

:01:57. > :02:00.running back into the ASDA store. They heard gunshots, as Kevin

:02:01. > :02:05.Carroll was killed in the car park. He was sitting in the back of a

:02:06. > :02:09.black Audi. These pictures were taken by the police helicopter in

:02:10. > :02:14.the aftermath. A distressing scene, believed to have been the

:02:15. > :02:19.consequence of gangland rivalry. 29-year-old Kevin Carroll was

:02:20. > :02:23.nicknamed Gerbil by his associates. He was a well-known gangland figure

:02:24. > :02:28.but since his death four and a half years ago, no one has been convicted

:02:29. > :02:33.for his murder. 34-year-old William Paterson appeared in private here at

:02:34. > :02:38.Lasko Sheriff Court. He is charged with the murder of Kevin Carroll by

:02:39. > :02:41.repeatedly shooting him. He is also accused of possessing two pistols

:02:42. > :02:46.and of trying to defeat the ends of justice by setting fire to the car

:02:47. > :02:51.and concealing two handguns in shrubbery at the back of Coatbridge

:02:52. > :02:55.library. He made no clear declaration and has been remanded in

:02:56. > :03:00.custody, expected to appear again next week.

:03:01. > :03:04.The Commonwealth Games organisers say the event is coming in on budget

:03:05. > :03:09.but the First Minister, Alex Salmond, has sanctioned a further ?5

:03:10. > :03:14.million spent from the contingency fund. The extra money is to improve

:03:15. > :03:18.transport links and cope with any unexpected eventualities over the

:03:19. > :03:21.next fortnight. As more athletes arrive in Glasgow, officials say

:03:22. > :03:27.they have traced the source of a suspected norovirus at their living

:03:28. > :03:31.quarters. Some of the South African team

:03:32. > :03:36.joined in celebrations for Nelson Mandela Day. You do not have to look

:03:37. > :03:42.too far to find athletes gathering ahead of the games. Teams arrived

:03:43. > :03:49.all day at the airport. The source of Norrie virus outbreak traced,

:03:50. > :03:54.those arriving from far-flung places do not seem too concerned. As long

:03:55. > :04:00.as we use hand sanitisers and things like that, it should not be a big

:04:01. > :04:04.deal. We will follow all our regular protocols. We are really careful

:04:05. > :04:06.about hygiene because you have to be professional for these sorts of

:04:07. > :04:12.things and do your best but it is not something we are really worried

:04:13. > :04:17.about. At the Hydro, it is only days until the gymnastics. We have been

:04:18. > :04:19.here for two and a half weeks already and in a few days we will

:04:20. > :04:23.have our first athlete in the building and in six days time we

:04:24. > :04:27.will have our first spectators walking through the door.

:04:28. > :04:31.Elsewhere, the City is being spruced up. Visitors are arriving and

:04:32. > :04:38.last-minute preparations are under way. And the first cultural shows of

:04:39. > :04:41.the games. From today, the games go live, with a sanction from the First

:04:42. > :04:47.Minister to spend additional funds from the special reserve. We will be

:04:48. > :04:53.able to sanction some additional investment today. Two things, one to

:04:54. > :04:56.make sure that the transportation experience for the spectators is

:04:57. > :05:03.everything it should be. And second, there is a budget allocated for

:05:04. > :05:09.lifetime. Said the finishing touches are being put in place. Not long now

:05:10. > :05:14.until the games begin. Our reporter is by the River Clyde.

:05:15. > :05:18.What is the latest on the Norrie virus outbreak?

:05:19. > :05:22.We learned today that the source of the infection by the temporary

:05:23. > :05:27.toilet primarily used by security workers at the Village. The number

:05:28. > :05:30.of cases has risen to 48 although the First Minister said today he was

:05:31. > :05:35.confident the worst was over and so the numbers should tail off. It is

:05:36. > :05:38.important to say, too, that no athletes have reported symptoms at

:05:39. > :05:42.this stage. The other news tonight is that the possible strike by BBC

:05:43. > :05:47.staff next Wednesday has been called off and that means coverage of the

:05:48. > :05:53.opening ceremony will be unaffected. You are watching Reporting Scotland.

:05:54. > :05:58.Still to come: The troubled Science Centre Tower in Glasgow prepares to

:05:59. > :06:04.reopen after almost four years. And in sport, a decent day for the

:06:05. > :06:09.top Scots and impressive stuff from the European Ryder Cup hopefuls. And

:06:10. > :06:15.in football: Celtic's reaction to hearing the potential opponents in

:06:16. > :06:19.the Champions League draw. Police say they are making progress

:06:20. > :06:23.in the hunt for the person who attacked and seriously injured and

:06:24. > :06:26.85-year-old woman in her home on the south side of Edinburgh last week.

:06:27. > :06:32.They have released details of a man seen in the area around the time of

:06:33. > :06:36.assault. These quiet street in Edinburgh was

:06:37. > :06:42.lined with police today. But an attempted murder is on the loose and

:06:43. > :06:46.officers want to find him. There was a serious incident in this street

:06:47. > :06:49.last Friday. Everyone passing was asked if they were here last week

:06:50. > :06:54.when a pensioner was brutally attacked in her home in the middle

:06:55. > :06:58.of the afternoon. Detectives say they are determined to catch the

:06:59. > :07:03.person responsible. It was or was going to be difficult. It was not

:07:04. > :07:06.going to be something we would solve overnight. I've used at what we have

:07:07. > :07:12.achieved in a relatively short period and I think we now have a

:07:13. > :07:16.focus around this inquiry. And that focus is a man seen by eyewitnesses

:07:17. > :07:21.and on CCTV hanging around this area about the time of the attack. He is

:07:22. > :07:25.between 18 and 30 years old with bushy eyebrows and was wearing a

:07:26. > :07:32.baseball cap. Police want to know if anyone recognises that description.

:07:33. > :07:36.Were you in the area last Friday? It was exactly a week ago about this

:07:37. > :07:39.time that the brutal attack took place and police thought that by

:07:40. > :07:43.coming here today, they would jog the memory of someone who saw

:07:44. > :07:47.something that could lead them to the attacker. Already, this

:07:48. > :07:50.operation has had some success, with dozens of people saying they were

:07:51. > :07:55.here around the time of the attack last Friday. The 85-year-old woman

:07:56. > :08:00.is still in a serious condition in hospital but she is stable and

:08:01. > :08:05.police hope they will eventually be able to speak to her about what

:08:06. > :08:08.happened. The Glasgow Science Centre Tower

:08:09. > :08:13.reopens to the public tomorrow after being closed for almost four years.

:08:14. > :08:16.The ?10 million structure has been plagued with problems since it

:08:17. > :08:21.opened 13 years ago and it has been closed more than it has been opened.

:08:22. > :08:26.Our reporter is at the top of the tower tonight. I hope you are

:08:27. > :08:31.enjoying the view. Take a look at it. That is not bad. From the edge

:08:32. > :08:37.of Glasgow right down the River Clyde. Kingston Bridge and we even

:08:38. > :08:44.have a birds eye view of the BBC where you are. We are 105 metres up.

:08:45. > :08:48.That is why you get this view here. From tomorrow morning this will be a

:08:49. > :08:52.view that the public can enjoy once more. It has been four years since

:08:53. > :08:54.this tower has been open and to be honest, it has had a bit of a

:08:55. > :08:59.chequered past. When it was opened back in 2001, it

:09:00. > :09:03.was publicised as the tallest for your rotating building in the world,

:09:04. > :09:07.a top tourist attraction for Glasgow, right in the midst of the

:09:08. > :09:11.redevelopment on the River Clyde. That soon after, it became the

:09:12. > :09:17.rotating tower that didn't. Despite major repair work, the problems

:09:18. > :09:21.continued. In 2005, these visitors were trapped in one of the lists for

:09:22. > :09:27.hours. Fire crews eventually freed them. More than ?1.8 million has

:09:28. > :09:32.been spent fixing this tower and it is hoped these new lifts will be

:09:33. > :09:36.much more efficient. We have taken the old lift system out and put a

:09:37. > :09:43.completely new design in which is much lighter than previous versions

:09:44. > :09:47.and more reliable. From here, all of the City lies before you from the

:09:48. > :09:50.tall ship and the Museum of transport around the Glasgow

:09:51. > :09:54.University and Kelvingrove Museum. Then head of the River Clyde passed

:09:55. > :09:58.the Hydro to the East End, the centre of the Commonwealth Games

:09:59. > :10:03.action. The reopening of the Town is being seen as very important for the

:10:04. > :10:07.cutting edge image this City is trying to project. The Science

:10:08. > :10:11.Centre is an iconic feature of the City and what we're doing in the

:10:12. > :10:15.City to have the tower working and working properly for now and for the

:10:16. > :10:20.future is really important. Rather than having it there as a wonderful

:10:21. > :10:25.structure that kind of forlorn. Science Centre fans getting a

:10:26. > :10:29.preview today liked what they saw. It was great. Good to get up after

:10:30. > :10:35.all this time I remember when it opened. You see all the trees and

:10:36. > :10:43.lovely places. It was good. It was nice going up. In the lift. Did you

:10:44. > :10:50.like the view from the top? What could you see? Lots of buildings.

:10:51. > :10:55.She is not wrong, is she? Loads of buildings to look at. We have just

:10:56. > :10:58.changed position here so you can get a view this way down the River

:10:59. > :11:05.Clyde. Although this does rotate, it will not be rotating when you are in

:11:06. > :11:09.it. They have decided that they are not going to do an automatic

:11:10. > :11:16.rotate, because they want the building to be fixed and last. But

:11:17. > :11:23.if you are up here on a windy night you need to see legs a bit anyway.

:11:24. > :11:28.Those who arrive from 10am tomorrow will be able to judge for

:11:29. > :11:29.themselves. Some of the other stories around the

:11:30. > :11:34.country today: Investment in the North Sea has

:11:35. > :11:36.stalled, with planned changes to the way the industry is regulated

:11:37. > :11:39.cited as a possible cause. Seven exploration wells were drilled

:11:40. > :11:41.in the second quarter of this year - down from 17

:11:42. > :11:44.during the same period last year. The business advisory firm

:11:45. > :11:58.Deloitte says companies may be The industry is under review and

:11:59. > :12:03.fiscal review is under way as well. Positive developments. It just means

:12:04. > :12:07.there is a of slight uncertainty as to what the detail will be in due

:12:08. > :12:08.course and perhaps industry is just pausing for breath and waiting to

:12:09. > :12:12.see what that looks like. A couple living in Glen Etive, near

:12:13. > :12:15.Glencoe, have begun an online campaign to shame tourists who leave

:12:16. > :12:18.litter and debris in one of Scotland's beauty spots. The glen

:12:19. > :12:20.won international fame after featuring in the James Bond film

:12:21. > :12:23.Skyfall. But Mark and Phillipa Shone say they're astonished at the

:12:24. > :12:26.rubbish people leave behind. A centre to test new medical devices

:12:27. > :12:29.is being set up at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital

:12:30. > :12:33.at Clydebank. Individuals

:12:34. > :12:35.and organisations will be able to submit healthcare products for

:12:36. > :12:37.review by experts, who'll test their The first Nelson Mandela Day since

:12:38. > :12:45.the former South African president's His granddaughter, Tukwini Mandela,

:12:46. > :12:51.was the guest of honour at a ribbon-tying ceremony

:12:52. > :12:54.in the city centre street that bears her grandfather's name,

:12:55. > :12:56.Nelson Mandela Place. The Robben Island Bible,

:12:57. > :13:02.a collected works of Shakespeare which was shared by the inmates

:13:03. > :13:15.at the prison, William Murray Kilburn was a young

:13:16. > :13:19.man desperate to join his friends who had gone off to fight in the

:13:20. > :13:24.First World War, but he could not because he was blind. Instead he

:13:25. > :13:30.turned soldiers' stories into poetry and now his knees has turned the

:13:31. > :13:37.poems into a book. She has spent the last decade

:13:38. > :13:42.dedicating her life to the man she never met. Every day she has

:13:43. > :13:47.painstakingly been piecing together William Murray Kilburn's poems. She

:13:48. > :13:53.felt she owed it to him not to let them slide into an historical abyss.

:13:54. > :13:59.I felt if I did not do it they would be lost. I have no family so

:14:00. > :14:04.whatever I do, it would get through in a skip or something. Here in

:14:05. > :14:08.Lanarkshire, William Murray Kilburn used to come here and greet soldiers

:14:09. > :14:15.returning from the First World War. He would listen to their first --

:14:16. > :14:27.stories and then go home and turn them into poetry.

:14:28. > :14:34.Most men enlisted with gusto, anxious to do their bit for King and

:14:35. > :14:39.country, but William could not. Not carrying a white stick meant his

:14:40. > :14:44.blindness often went unnoticed. Especially in the First World War,

:14:45. > :14:52.it was a great disgrace not to go to war and in note of the facts,

:14:53. > :14:56.somebody sent him a white feather. For William to go in there and get

:14:57. > :15:03.these men to pour out their Hearts immediately I find quite

:15:04. > :15:07.fascinating, and the other important thing is that that conversation,

:15:08. > :15:12.that outpouring, can help heal trauma. The Imperial War Museum has

:15:13. > :15:23.asked for a copy of the book. William Murray Kilburn's Words Of

:15:24. > :15:28.War will not be forgotten after all. The swimmer Michael Jamieson says he

:15:29. > :15:32.wants to do something special at the Commonwealth Games. Two years ago,

:15:33. > :15:35.he won and Olympic silver medal and he is favourite to go one better

:15:36. > :15:40.next week. The University of Bath has a proud

:15:41. > :15:45.tradition of sporting talent. It is home to an Olympic champion. And

:15:46. > :15:54.other Olympic medallists, including this man. I am in such a unique

:15:55. > :15:57.position. I am not sure there are any athletes from Glasgow that also

:15:58. > :16:07.competed in London. I am desperate to make the most of it. I want you

:16:08. > :16:11.to come in .Mac Another training session under the watchful eye of

:16:12. > :16:16.Dave McNulty, renowned swimming coach, and one of the reasons

:16:17. > :16:21.Michael Jamieson moved from Glasgow to Bath five years ago. Michael

:16:22. > :16:24.Jamieson of Scotland collecting his silver medal .Mac He came to

:16:25. > :16:34.prominence during the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010. But it was

:16:35. > :16:39.in London 2012 when he became a household name. The main thing that

:16:40. > :16:45.has changed for me since London is that mindset and belief that I can

:16:46. > :16:51.challenge the titles now. I have got a huge opportunity this year to try

:16:52. > :16:57.to do something special. Not only in the swimming pool but in terms of

:16:58. > :17:03.having an influence on sport in general, and especially in Glasgow.

:17:04. > :17:08.Whether it is training in the pool .Mac or conditioning work out of

:17:09. > :17:17.it, Jamieson is ready for these games. I noticed your Olympic tattoo

:17:18. > :17:25.on your arm. If you have success in the Commonwealth Games, can we look

:17:26. > :17:34.for something on your other arm? May be the mascot! More sport. How odd

:17:35. > :17:35.the Scottish hopes doing? It looks like there will be three

:17:36. > :17:46.Scots staying for the Steven Gallacher and Marc Warren are

:17:47. > :17:52.both still out on the course on two and one under-par

:17:53. > :17:53.respectively, while Jamie McLean just made

:17:54. > :17:55.the cut on two over. They're quite a way

:17:56. > :17:57.off the pace though. At nine under-par,

:17:58. > :18:02.Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy has weekend stronger wind for the

:18:03. > :18:05.world's best golfer to commend with today and after yesterday's low

:18:06. > :18:09.scoring, would be nice numbers be washed away? Not for top Scot

:18:10. > :18:18.Stephen Gallacher, picking up two early shots. Marc Warren also made

:18:19. > :18:24.good early progress, this put taking him to three under par. Edinburgh

:18:25. > :18:29.Jamie McCleary has missed the cut in seven of his last 20 tournaments,

:18:30. > :18:36.not this time. At two over-par he will be here for the weekend. Unlike

:18:37. > :18:43.compatriot Bradley Neill, who had a steep learning curve on his debut.

:18:44. > :18:48.From 9-over par, there was no way back this time around. And if you've

:18:49. > :18:53.is tough for the Tiger, you know the cause is biting back. A double bogey

:18:54. > :19:01.six at the 1st from Woods worked out most of yesterday's good work.

:19:02. > :19:10.Scotland should be seeing plenty of Sergio Garcia, aiming for the Ryder

:19:11. > :19:14.Cup at Gleneagles. Let's hope he brings a few shots like that with

:19:15. > :19:20.him. You would be smiling too if you had just eagled the par-4 second.

:19:21. > :19:25.All smiles, too, when a particularly game pheasant tried to put a

:19:26. > :19:28.remarkable offer. The Northern Irishman simply strengthened his

:19:29. > :19:40.position at the top of the leaderboard.

:19:41. > :19:50.The Celtic boss says a tie against Dublin would be ideal. That is

:19:51. > :19:54.assuming that the Scottish champions get past KR Reykjavik.

:19:55. > :19:59.Celtic are off on their travels again, albeit this time just

:20:00. > :20:10.unfriendly business. A short while before, this happened. They found

:20:11. > :20:15.out who lies in wait if they finish the job against Reykjavik. Against

:20:16. > :20:22.Kate are Reykjavik or Celtic. With the first leg advantage, is Warsaw

:20:23. > :20:29.more likely to be their next destination? They spend a lot of

:20:30. > :20:38.money on a big club and got a 1-1 at home. I am sure at Saint pats will

:20:39. > :20:44.be highly motivated to play Celtic. They did in 1998, Celtic winning

:20:45. > :20:48.these Champions League final by 2-1. They looked likely to make it

:20:49. > :20:49.through to a rematch but all of Scotland's representatives are in

:20:50. > :20:59.with a chance. We would love everyone to qualify.

:21:00. > :21:03.It would be great for the whole country. We want us all doing well

:21:04. > :21:09.in Europe. Collectively as a country it is better for us all. Celtic have

:21:10. > :21:14.led the way for Scotland in Europe in recent times. What chance all

:21:15. > :21:17.four Scots team is taking place in the next round?

:21:18. > :21:22.Time for a look at what else is happening across Scottish sport.

:21:23. > :21:24.At the German Grand Prix, Scotland's

:21:25. > :21:25.Susie Wolff impressed in First Practice.

:21:26. > :21:27.She was just 0.227 seconds slower than Williams team-mate

:21:28. > :21:31.But as development driver, she won't compete in the Grand Prix proper.

:21:32. > :21:34.St Mirren's Kenny McLean says he's hoping for a more attacking role

:21:35. > :21:38.The highly rated midfielder recently signed a new two-year deal with

:21:39. > :21:47.Last season he scored seven Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour - she's

:21:48. > :21:50.the one in the blue - is now second seed for the Commonwealth Games

:21:51. > :22:04.badminton. It's after defending champion Saina Nehwal of India

:22:05. > :22:07.On Sunday we have an in-depth preview of the Games.

:22:08. > :22:09.Join John Beattie for Sport XIV at 5.25pm on BBC Two.

:22:10. > :22:12.And stay up to date with all the latest Scottish sports news online

:22:13. > :22:28.That is how the sport looks tonight. The Queen's Commonwealth Baton is

:22:29. > :22:32.still on his travels, making its way to Celtic Park, destination for next

:22:33. > :22:40.Wednesday's opening ceremony. Tonight is -- it is at Clydebank,

:22:41. > :22:44.and so is our weatherman. Perfect timing, it has just arrived

:22:45. > :22:48.on the canal. You can probably see it behind me. Celebrations on going

:22:49. > :22:54.this evening. Music and entertainment. It has had quite an

:22:55. > :22:56.adventurous day travelling throughout western Dumbartonshire.

:22:57. > :22:59.My colleague has been following the journey.

:23:00. > :23:03.If you are a world-class climate propping up the bike you would want

:23:04. > :23:07.to those that you had climbed Dumbarton Rock. It is renowned for

:23:08. > :23:11.some of the toughest climbs to be found anywhere. Dave MacLeod is the

:23:12. > :23:15.man who conquered the worst here but today, nominated for his work

:23:16. > :23:21.promoting the sport, he took the relatively easy route up. If you are

:23:22. > :23:26.a young athlete, Scotland is one of the best countries in the world. A

:23:27. > :23:29.country full of great mountains, cliffs and climbing walls. Another

:23:30. > :23:38.daredevil on the way down, Robert Watts abseiling down the iconic

:23:39. > :23:41.River Clyde Titan crane. Magnificent. The feeling at the

:23:42. > :23:48.moment just kind of takes you over and so much excitement. It was a

:23:49. > :23:52.real rush to be involved. I feel privileged. A more sedate journey

:23:53. > :23:58.across the waters of Loch Lomond this afternoon. As you can see, the

:23:59. > :24:10.baton is arriving on the shores of Loch Lomond. The next carrier is

:24:11. > :24:16.Stuart. 34 years ago today I won a medal in Edinburgh. A quite good

:24:17. > :24:24.medal. A gold medal for the 8000 metres. It has been a fantastic day

:24:25. > :24:28.with the baton again. Lots of spectacular sites. This weekend, it

:24:29. > :24:33.is heading over to East Dunbartonshire for Sunday, that is

:24:34. > :24:34.the big day, when the baton finally arrives in Glasgow with just a few

:24:35. > :24:50.days until big, well games. Still a party atmosphere here,

:24:51. > :24:55.plenty of fireworks going on. The weather is not bad either. This

:24:56. > :25:01.evening and overnight it is still cloudy and just a little bit muddy.

:25:02. > :25:11.If we take a look at a map from around 7pm, we can see the showers

:25:12. > :25:16.continuing to move North. A legacy of cloud behind and it will be misty

:25:17. > :25:19.at times with low cloud down the East coast. Uncomfortably warm. By

:25:20. > :25:25.the end of the night, temperatures in towns still 16 or 17 Celsius. For

:25:26. > :25:30.tomorrow, a weather warning in force for them to rearrange. To start off

:25:31. > :25:34.with, fairly cloudy, a bit misty and murky at times and through the

:25:35. > :25:40.boarding towards lunch time and the afternoon, areas of the injury rain

:25:41. > :25:46.will move northwards. We cannot take the graphics to literally for the

:25:47. > :25:54.heaviest downpours but do be prepared for difficult conditions on

:25:55. > :25:59.the roads at times. The location on the map is not exact. The rain

:26:00. > :26:03.moving northwards. For the North West and Highlands and Islands, the

:26:04. > :26:09.driest here. For the Northern Isles later on, dry. For the eastern side,

:26:10. > :26:20.rain on and off. Still chilly on the coast. You are hill walking in the

:26:21. > :26:27.North West Highlands, some cloud and wind and rain. The weather tends to

:26:28. > :26:30.dry up as we head towards the latter stages of the dead. The rest of the

:26:31. > :26:34.afternoon and evening into overnight, the rain moving

:26:35. > :26:38.northwards, against and in nature at times. By the 7/2 of the weekend,

:26:39. > :26:43.let's take a look at the pressure chart. Still influenced by low

:26:44. > :26:46.pressure and you can make out that weather front bringing the injury

:26:47. > :26:50.outbreaks across the North East. The detail for Sunday likely to be damp

:26:51. > :26:52.across the North East of the country. Aberdeenshire up towards

:26:53. > :26:59.the Northern Isles. Elsewhere, cannot rule at the risk of a light

:27:00. > :27:03.shower but bright spells otherwise. As we had through to the stars of

:27:04. > :27:07.the next week on Monday, we continued the theme of settling the

:27:08. > :27:11.weather down. Still a bit damp across the North East of the country

:27:12. > :27:16.but elsewhere sunshine around and with light wind, quite pleasant.

:27:17. > :27:17.That is the forecast. The entertainment and celebrations are

:27:18. > :27:29.ongoing for a few hours. A reminder of the main news.

:27:30. > :27:33.President Obama says the Malaysia Airlines plane was shot down by a

:27:34. > :27:37.surface to air missile fired from an area of Ukraine controlled by

:27:38. > :27:40.Russian backed separatists. 298 people were killed, ten of them

:27:41. > :27:45.British. And a man has been charged with killing a well-known Glasgow

:27:46. > :27:49.gangster outside a busy supermarket. 34-year-old William

:27:50. > :27:54.Paterson is accused of murdering Kevin Carroll in the North of the

:27:55. > :27:59.city more than four years ago. That is all for now. I will be back with

:28:00. > :28:01.the headlines at 8pm and the late bulletin just after the ten o'clock

:28:02. > :28:07.news. Have a good evening.
