:00:00. > 3:59:59on settling down and turning warmer. That is all from the BBC News at

:00:00. > :00:11.Six. The Yes and No campaigns are both

:00:12. > :00:18.buoyant after last night's Amid the passionate

:00:19. > :00:41.and often bad-tempered exchanges, Nobody has said it is coming from.

:00:42. > :00:51.There are of statements. were undecided voters swayed

:00:52. > :00:53.by either man's performance?Also on the programme -

:00:54. > :00:56.keeping the law of the loch. How Loch Lomond has been

:00:57. > :00:58.cleaning up its act. And Parkhead expects - we preview

:00:59. > :01:01.Celtic's chances of qualifying for Alex Salmond says motivation,

:01:02. > :01:15.morale and momentum is all with Yes Scotland,

:01:16. > :01:17.following the BBC debate between the Polling suggests most felt the

:01:18. > :01:25.First Minister performed better. But the leader of those defending

:01:26. > :01:30.the Union, Alistair Darling, says the polls still show a majority

:01:31. > :01:33.support for a No vote, and he Here's our political editor,

:01:34. > :01:51.Brian Taylor. Take the debate to the streets. Yes

:01:52. > :01:57.campaigners lampoon their rivals. He has energised all the supporters. We

:01:58. > :02:05.need to get out there and win it. We are going to do it. No campaigners

:02:06. > :02:12.say doorstep doubts about independence still persist. What

:02:13. > :02:18.will change the campaign is as going round and speaking to people. Most

:02:19. > :02:26.pundits think Alex Salmond won the debate. The first one, Alistair

:02:27. > :02:35.Darling came out on top, but last night Alex Salmond did better. In

:02:36. > :02:44.the debate Alex Salmond retaliated first on currency. Alistair Darling

:02:45. > :02:50.said Scotland's cute use the pound, but at a cost. Of course we could

:02:51. > :03:02.use the pound. We could use the rebel. You could use the pound. You

:03:03. > :03:08.do not have a central bank. Alistair Darling has admitted we could use

:03:09. > :03:16.the pound. Alex Salmond warned that the union -- that the union it

:03:17. > :03:27.jeopardise the NHS. His opponent said that was scaremongering. It

:03:28. > :03:35.does not do anything to create real jobs. This morning Alistair Darling

:03:36. > :03:44.was during a factory. He insisted he was correct on currency. It would be

:03:45. > :03:55.risky to have your own currency. He cannot tell us. He has not answered

:03:56. > :04:03.the question. We do not know what money we will be using. The First

:04:04. > :04:15.Minister said his opponent had no ideas on jobs. What is more

:04:16. > :04:25.important is that the bluff has been called. The NHS, and people 's

:04:26. > :04:35.concerns and fears about the implications of privatisation, well

:04:36. > :04:37.remain under devolution. It is the people of Scotland who will decide

:04:38. > :04:40.which choice suits their taste. Millions watched the debate

:04:41. > :04:42.across the UK, including nearly Many postal voters will make

:04:43. > :04:46.their final decisions this week, in what could be the biggest electoral

:04:47. > :04:48.turnout in Scottish history. But did last night's sometimes

:04:49. > :04:50.ill-tempered exchanges actually Our referendum correspondent

:04:51. > :05:07.Laura Bicker reports. These are some of the voters who

:05:08. > :05:15.hold the outcome of the referendum in the handss. They are having a

:05:16. > :05:21.work-out in their lunch hour. The wants to where all the arguments.

:05:22. > :05:29.For many the debate sparks yet more debate. Nobody has answered any

:05:30. > :05:34.questions properly. They keep saying we will get this and that. Nobody is

:05:35. > :05:44.seeing what will happen to education. There are lots of

:05:45. > :05:52.statements. A lot of people are fed up with that. I have still not

:05:53. > :06:02.decided. I wanted to know more about the pros and cons of both sides.

:06:03. > :06:07.Alex Salmond came out of last night's debate better.

:06:08. > :06:20.A snap survey showed that Alex Salmond was the winner of last

:06:21. > :06:32.night's debate. But this is the bit that was most

:06:33. > :06:37.controversial. Many described it to me as the

:06:38. > :06:46.shouting bets. The cross examination. What did we make of it

:06:47. > :06:54.on social media? There were plenty of references to shouting. People

:06:55. > :06:58.did not appreciate that. If you want to register to vote you have until

:06:59. > :07:05.one week today. If you want to register for a postal vote you can

:07:06. > :07:09.do that until September the 3rd. If you are posting their thoughts you

:07:10. > :07:19.can post it up until September the 18th. Pars post your fault.

:07:20. > :07:31.How well the campaigns move on the debate?

:07:32. > :07:36.We heard about postal voting. We are now into the final street where both

:07:37. > :07:40.sides are trying to persuade and cajole. First of all to get the vote

:07:41. > :07:47.out and to get it out in their direction. Will anyone be directly

:07:48. > :07:56.affected by the debate last night? Perhaps relatively few. But it goes

:07:57. > :08:08.into the mix of the overall verdict. One thing is sure. Alex Salmond's

:08:09. > :08:14.team were downcast after the first debate. They are buoyant after this

:08:15. > :08:20.one. It has reinvigorated Alex Salmond to the point that he is now

:08:21. > :08:24.challenging the Prime Minister, again, to hold a televised debates.

:08:25. > :08:26.And there's another referendum debate tonight on BBC2

:08:27. > :08:38.We are in Edinburgh to debate the key issues. Our guests at the

:08:39. > :08:44.Scottish Labour leader and the Scottish finance secretary. That is

:08:45. > :08:52.tonight at 9pm on BBC Two Scotland. Now, still to come

:08:53. > :08:54.on tonight's programme: Why the NHS in Scotland is failing

:08:55. > :08:57.key targets in its performance. In sport, its Celtic's big chance

:08:58. > :09:00.tonight for the glory and fortune of And Andy Murray says

:09:01. > :09:03.his body failed him. All over cramps almost beat the Scot

:09:04. > :09:11.at the first round of the US Open. Three years ago it was

:09:12. > :09:14.a place where vandalism, parties and Now the east side of Loch Lomond

:09:15. > :09:18.has been transformed - that's Crime has fallen 90% since a set

:09:19. > :09:24.of bye-laws that have banned wild But do other parts of

:09:25. > :09:41.the park now need these laws too? It gets over 4 million visitors per

:09:42. > :09:47.year and you can see why. But for years this part of Loch Lomond was

:09:48. > :09:54.blighted by bad behaviour. Now the bylaws have turned things around. We

:09:55. > :09:59.have only opened less in the last few weeks. Families are back. Three

:10:00. > :10:10.years ago this businessman was on the verge of selling up. Our

:10:11. > :10:22.furniture was being burnt. Since 2011 we have had such a good time.

:10:23. > :10:26.Business is back. Families are back. In a 720 square miles park you might

:10:27. > :10:38.expect it to the other problem areas. There are lots of different

:10:39. > :10:49.fire pits. Everybody has their own fire area. A lot of damage to

:10:50. > :10:57.cheese. -- a lot of damage to threes.

:10:58. > :11:05.There's there is a fight doubt one of the most beautiful parts of

:11:06. > :11:11.Scotland. There are still hotspots of trouble. The National Park

:11:12. > :11:20.authorities say they are looking at a range of measures. We know we have

:11:21. > :11:30.some hotspots. We are keen to hear from our communities. We have had

:11:31. > :11:35.success here. Community feedback has been great. Now there are residents

:11:36. > :11:42.can enjoy some calm. Legal steps are being taken to

:11:43. > :11:45.force air accident investigators to release cockpit voice

:11:46. > :11:47.recordings from a fatal North The Lord Advocate is seeking

:11:48. > :11:50.an order at the Court of Session for recordings from the crash

:11:51. > :11:52.off Shetland last August, The Air Accidents Investigation

:11:53. > :11:56.Branch doesn't routinely release any evidence it gathers,

:11:57. > :11:58.arguing it could jeopardise future A man has been arrested

:11:59. > :12:06.after another man died following an incident at a Tesco Express store

:12:07. > :12:09.in Glasgow at the weekend. Police said 52-year-old

:12:10. > :12:10.Miroslaw Bronowicki died after the disturbance at the store

:12:11. > :12:13.on Argyle Street, on Sunday. A 35-year-old man was expected to

:12:14. > :12:27.appear from custody at The NHS has failed to meet key

:12:28. > :12:32.Government targets. People are waiting too long in Accident and

:12:33. > :12:38.Emergency. They are waiting too long to be discharged.

:12:39. > :12:43.There is a big debate over the best way to measure the performance of

:12:44. > :12:48.the NHS. There is no doubt that for some people waiting too long project

:12:49. > :12:52.meant as a bad thing. There is a target that children should not wait

:12:53. > :12:58.more than six months to see an expert in mental health. That target

:12:59. > :13:01.has been messed. This person's son had autism. A long wait to get

:13:02. > :13:19.treatment made him extremely depressed. I cannot emphasise enough

:13:20. > :13:27.the terrible state he was in. I do not understand why that is not

:13:28. > :13:32.perceived as urgent. There is a maximum 18 week wait for treatment.

:13:33. > :13:36.There is a four hour wait in Accident and Emergency. There is a

:13:37. > :13:41.four-week wait for hospital discharge, because of patients who

:13:42. > :13:47.need community dear do not get that quickly their entire system grinds

:13:48. > :13:54.to a halt. Statistics suggest the NHS is still not performing well.

:13:55. > :14:00.This target was missed. People waited longer in five health boards.

:14:01. > :14:05.But the Health Minister says the performance of the NHS is improving.

:14:06. > :14:12.A survey says that people are happy with their care. There are still

:14:13. > :14:15.challenges in the NHS in Scotland. Nobody is denying that. We are

:14:16. > :14:21.treating a record number of patients and we are doing it in record time.

:14:22. > :14:31.That is a good record for any Government. NHS performance has been

:14:32. > :14:35.worse, but it has also been better. With this now becoming a referendum

:14:36. > :14:43.issue, this is not the performance the SNP wanted.

:14:44. > :14:53.A service celebrating the life of Sam Galbraith has taken place. He

:14:54. > :14:55.served as an MP and an MSP. He was one of the world's longest surviving

:14:56. > :15:02.lung transplant patients. The public is being warned to beware

:15:03. > :15:05.of a phone banking scam The fraud - involving bogus phone

:15:06. > :15:10.calls to customers to obtain account details - has led to over ?1.5

:15:11. > :15:29.million being stolen in Scotland Babel see that your bank account has

:15:30. > :15:33.been taken over and there is a risk to Your Money. They will tell you to

:15:34. > :15:39.hang your phone and fullback. Customers think that is. The problem

:15:40. > :15:45.is that the people committing the frauds do not hand the phone up.

:15:46. > :15:49.Then they are brought into this fraud.

:15:50. > :15:52.A man who died after a serious assault in the

:15:53. > :15:54.Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh has been identified as Robbie Morrison.

:15:55. > :15:57.Police say the 31-year-old was the victim of a serious assault late

:15:58. > :16:00.The standard of cleanliness at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital has

:16:01. > :16:01.greatly improved, according to inspectors from

:16:02. > :16:07.The hospital had previously been heavily criticised after hygiene

:16:08. > :16:11.problems including equipment being contaminated with blood.

:16:22. > :16:28.A council has apologised and begun an investigation over

:16:29. > :16:31.an offensive Tweet directed at Alistair Darling during last

:16:32. > :16:37.The post reading, "Alistair shut yer pus",

:16:38. > :16:39.appeared on East Renfrewshire's Twitter page last night.

:16:40. > :16:42.This coincided with Better Together leader Mr Darling going head-to-head

:16:43. > :16:47.with Yes Campaign leader Alex Salmond in the BBC live debate.

:16:48. > :16:53.Judges have begun the task of choosing the best jam in the world.

:16:54. > :16:56.More than 500 have been entered into the World Jampionships which is

:16:57. > :17:00.The winners will be announced at the Dundee Flower and Food

:17:01. > :17:08.And from the majestic jampionships to some minor competition called

:17:09. > :17:26.Whatever the predictions of their chances,

:17:27. > :17:28.Celtic can qualify for the money spinning Champions League tonight.

:17:29. > :17:31.Their tie against Maribor is level after the first leg, but

:17:32. > :17:35.Tonight's game is also a return to Celtic Park for European

:17:36. > :17:59.The Champions League. The theme tune, the football, and the cash.

:18:00. > :18:12.For more of this Celtic need to see off Maribor. There are very little

:18:13. > :18:18.TV rights in Scotland. The gravy is in the Champions League. But some

:18:19. > :18:23.people think Maribor are more dangerous opponents away from home.

:18:24. > :18:32.They are very good on the counterattack. They are a

:18:33. > :18:36.hard-working team. Celtic are odds-on favourites with the

:18:37. > :18:45.bookmakers to qualify. That they do occasionally get it wrong. I never

:18:46. > :18:53.gamble. We have the equal chance to go through to the next stage. Until

:18:54. > :18:58.now Celtic's home ties in Europe have been played at Murrayfield this

:18:59. > :19:06.season. But tonight it is a home European debut for their manager. I

:19:07. > :19:12.feel ready. I know the team is ready as well. I am looking forward to it.

:19:13. > :19:16.There's full commentary on Sportsound - that's

:19:17. > :19:20.And Richard Gordon and the rest of the Sportsound team will also be

:19:21. > :19:22.bringing you updates from tonight's League Cup ties

:19:23. > :19:28.Rugby's Pro12 league has been launched for the season ahead and

:19:29. > :19:32.there's a bit of history being made by Glasgow Warriors' Al Kellock.

:19:33. > :19:35.The 6 foot 8 lock has been once again named as captain

:19:36. > :19:39.and leads the Warriors for the ninth season in a row.

:19:40. > :19:41.Kellock holds the all-time Pro12 record for the most appearances

:19:42. > :19:50.as captain of any team with 95 games at the helm.

:19:51. > :19:52.Andy Murray says he's at a loss to explain why

:19:53. > :19:58.The Scot is through to the second round, but only after a huge

:19:59. > :20:06.Murray took cramp all over his body and admits he did very well to

:20:07. > :20:16.From Flushing Meadows, Kheredine Idessane reports.

:20:17. > :20:27.The band were on good form on day one. Surely it was too early for

:20:28. > :20:36.Andy Murray to be facing the music. He hit the right zeros early on. He

:20:37. > :20:45.too had a two set lead. Then he went off key. Andy Murray got cramp

:20:46. > :20:50.across as body. It might explain the fact he lost nine games in a row.

:20:51. > :20:55.Has he ever felt worse on court? It is not the worst I have ever felt,

:20:56. > :21:01.but it is the worst I have ever felt after 90 minutes of a tennis match.

:21:02. > :21:14.That is what was worrying about it. It came after such a short time.

:21:15. > :21:18.Andy Murray's reward for playing through the pain is a second-round

:21:19. > :21:26.tie against a German journeyman who was only a late addition to the

:21:27. > :21:35.tournament. I was happy for him that he won. I can play against one of

:21:36. > :21:45.the best players in the world. The band plays on and so does Andy

:21:46. > :21:54.Murray. Here is the weather. It has been a

:21:55. > :22:10.lovely day across most of the country. This evening for all of us

:22:11. > :22:23.some lovely evening sunshine. But clear skies tonight mean low

:22:24. > :22:39.temperatures. A call to start tomorrow. -- equal start. By

:22:40. > :22:49.mid-afternoon it will be warm across Western parts of the country.

:22:50. > :23:02.Further East it will be cold. Plenty of sunshine across the country.

:23:03. > :23:06.Wheat evening sunshine. Closing over in the Southwest. The body is

:23:07. > :23:16.starting to pick up. Change is on the way. This weather front will

:23:17. > :23:23.increase the cloud and increased the chances of rain. By Thursday morning

:23:24. > :23:41.it will be a cloudy start to the day. Afternoon showers developing.

:23:42. > :24:00.On Friday, further heavy blaster the showers. -- blaster the showers.

:24:01. > :24:05.Alex Salmond says motivation is worth the Yes campaign following

:24:06. > :24:09.last night's debate, but Alistair Darling says more people support a

:24:10. > :24:17.No vote. An inquiry into sexual exploitation

:24:18. > :24:23.of children in Rotherham has found almost 1500 victims. Almost all of

:24:24. > :24:25.the perpetrators were described as Asian.

:24:26. > :24:31.Goodbye.
