:00:48. > :00:51.I'm Ross Murdoch. Tune in tonight to see who wins the battle between me

:00:52. > :00:54.and Brian. The gold medallist goes

:00:55. > :00:56.head-to-head with his The First Minister Alex Salmond

:00:57. > :01:09.has claimed that independence will save some families almost ?5,000

:01:10. > :01:11.pounds in childcare costs. Speaking in Edinburgh this morning,

:01:12. > :01:14.he said only a Yes vote would ensure But Prime Minister David Cameron

:01:15. > :01:20.says childcare is already devolved to Scotland

:01:21. > :01:23.and that changes could be made now. This report from our political

:01:24. > :01:41.correspondent Lucy Adams We've had the hard sell, now it's

:01:42. > :01:52.the soft sell. It's not the children, but the adults coming to

:01:53. > :02:07.soft play centres like this one that the yes campaign still has to

:02:08. > :02:25.persuade. Polls suggest women are more likely to vote No than men, and

:02:26. > :02:30.today, the Yes campaign is announcing new updated figures which

:02:31. > :02:33.they say would mean the parents of one-year-olds saving up to ?5,000 on

:02:34. > :02:38.childcare costs, and those with two, three and four-year-olds saving

:02:39. > :02:40.?2000. Their pledge is that by the end of the first parliament, all

:02:41. > :02:42.three and four-year-olds, and half of two-year-olds, will get almost

:02:43. > :02:45.double the current levels of childcare. But how would they pay

:02:46. > :02:50.for this? In order to fund a revolution in

:02:51. > :02:54.childcare and nursery education and provision, which we see as central

:02:55. > :02:57.to the future of Scotland, we must control the other side of the

:02:58. > :03:00.balance sheet. We have the benefit from the parents, the mums and dads

:03:01. > :03:02.who get back into the workforce, start paying taxes, and we have to

:03:03. > :03:04.get hold of these taxes so we can fund this policy for the future of

:03:05. > :03:09.Scotland. But members of the Better Together

:03:10. > :03:13.campaign have described it as a con, because childcare is already

:03:14. > :03:14.devolved to Holyrood. They say it is an argument about investment in

:03:15. > :03:16.childcare, not independence. As part of the United Kingdom, you

:03:17. > :03:17.will also get the tax relief on childcare that the Treasury for the

:03:18. > :03:18.whole of the United Kingdom is introducing next year, and that

:03:19. > :03:19.could be worth up to ?2000 per child for hard-working Scottish

:03:20. > :03:21.taxpayers. For some parents, childcare is an

:03:22. > :03:22.important issue. I have two young children, and at

:03:23. > :03:24.the moment I am not working, because I can't afford the childcare to get

:03:25. > :03:26.back into work. Having more hours would make a massive difference to

:03:27. > :03:30.me and help me get back to work. But some want to stay home with

:03:31. > :03:33.their children. I quite like spending this time

:03:34. > :03:39.watching them grow before they move on to school. I have got a little

:03:40. > :03:42.boy who has just started primary one, and I have had all that time

:03:43. > :03:47.with him. Both campaigns now need to reach

:03:48. > :03:50.everyone they can, young and old. There is less than three weeks

:03:51. > :03:52.before the vote, so there is No time for play.

:03:53. > :03:55.The Labour MP Jim Murphy says he's suspending his Better Together tour

:03:56. > :03:58.of Scotland, because of what he described as "coordinated

:03:59. > :04:05.Eggs were thrown at him yesterday as he spoke to a crowd in Kirkcaldy.

:04:06. > :04:08.Tonight, Yes Scotland said it condemned all forms of abusive,

:04:09. > :04:19.Here's our Home Affairs correspondent Reevel Alderson.

:04:20. > :04:39.Old-fashioned campaigning on the stump. But Jim Murphy's message

:04:40. > :04:42.isn't universally welcomed. I will not be silenced! But after this, he

:04:43. > :04:45.has taken the decision to come off the road for three days.

:04:46. > :04:48.The former Scottish Secretary was intending to take the Better

:04:49. > :04:58.Together messaged to 100 towns across the country, and at first his

:04:59. > :05:05.soapbox campaign and opposition to it was relatively low-key. But

:05:06. > :05:07.Better Together has been gathering what it says is evidence that this

:05:08. > :05:09.19th-century campaigning style is being thwarted by 21st-century

:05:10. > :05:10.technology. I have been out and about across

:05:11. > :05:13.Scotland, and the first meetings were great. They were passionate

:05:14. > :05:20.people on both sides, but in the past ten days or so, the Yes

:05:21. > :05:22.Scotland campaign has organised mobs to turn up at every meeting that I

:05:23. > :05:25.am taking part in to try to silence undecided voters and to try and

:05:26. > :05:31.intimidate me. The Yes campaign says robust debate

:05:32. > :05:34.is to be welcomed, but it's condemned what it calls

:05:35. > :05:36.inappropriate behaviour which has targeted figures on both sides of

:05:37. > :05:39.the argument. If there is any evidence that people

:05:40. > :05:43.had been acting inappropriately, action will be taken, and we would

:05:44. > :05:54.expect the same from those on the No campaign site as well. But that's

:05:55. > :05:55.not misrepresent what is happening across the country, which is a

:05:56. > :05:57.lively, constructive and mature debate, and that is the way we want

:05:58. > :05:59.to keep it. Police Scotland say they are

:06:00. > :06:01.investigating yesterday's egg attack on Jim Murphy.

:06:02. > :06:03.A man has been convicted of behaving in a threatening or

:06:04. > :06:05.abusive manner towards the First Minister Alex Salmond.

:06:06. > :06:08.26-year-old Christopher Stevenson from Glasgow wrote on Twitter

:06:09. > :06:12."I think I might assassinate Alex Salmond" while watching

:06:13. > :06:17.Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that he was reported to police

:06:18. > :06:20.by an American tourist who had seen the post online.

:06:21. > :06:23.When questioned by police, Stevenson claimed it had been a joke.

:06:24. > :06:28.Sentence has been deferred for a year for good behaviour.

:06:29. > :06:32.Rangers have warned that the future of the club is uncertain if a new

:06:33. > :06:37.The club says it wants to raise ?4 million from existing investors,

:06:38. > :06:41.but if it can't, it won't be able to pay its creditors.

:06:42. > :06:44.Our business correspondent David Henderson is here now.

:06:45. > :06:46.David, how serious is the situation for Rangers?

:06:47. > :06:52.Well, what you see on the pitch suggests Rangers are in good shape.

:06:53. > :06:55.They've signed new players - Kris Boyd, Kenny Miller.

:06:56. > :06:58.They're near the top of the Scottish Championship.

:06:59. > :07:00.But off the pitch, it's a different story.

:07:01. > :07:05.Rangers owners are having to work hard to rebuild the club.

:07:06. > :07:08.And that's a real struggle, in part because there's been

:07:09. > :07:19.The number's down by about 17,000 on last year.

:07:20. > :07:21.And that leaves a big hole in the club's finances.

:07:22. > :07:27.So today, they've said they want to raise ?4 million from shareholders -

:07:28. > :07:31.from people who already have a stake in the club.

:07:32. > :07:35.They need much of this for working capital, in other words, to meet

:07:36. > :07:39.the running costs, to pay the wages, to keep the lights on at Ibrox.

:07:40. > :07:42.They're confident they can do that, but the warning today is that

:07:43. > :07:46.if they don't get this money, the company won't be able to pay

:07:47. > :07:55.its debts and its future will be in doubt.

:07:56. > :08:02.Right now, they are spending more money than they are actually earning

:08:03. > :08:12.in terms of ticket sales. Season ticket sales are down on the prior

:08:13. > :08:15.year, which has made the situation worse. This is just paying the day

:08:16. > :08:16.today at going is at the club, and now they have indicated, if they

:08:17. > :08:17.don't raise this money, they will need to raise emergency funding,

:08:18. > :08:22.otherwise, the viability of the company is under question if they

:08:23. > :08:23.can't get funds from somewhere to pay the day-to-day expenses.

:08:24. > :08:24.So if Rangers can raise this ?4 million, are their problems solved?

:08:25. > :08:28.No, because the money won't last for long.

:08:29. > :08:30.It should tide the club over until its Annual General Meeting,

:08:31. > :08:32.which must take place in the next few months.

:08:33. > :08:36.But Rangers bosses say they also need to raise much more to keep them

:08:37. > :08:38.going until the end of this financial year,

:08:39. > :08:45.and then another ?20-30 million over the next three years.

:08:46. > :08:51.So the club could face a long haul to get back to financial health.

:08:52. > :08:54.And what the current owners will now be desperate to avoid is the sort

:08:55. > :08:58.of cash flow crisis which can force a company out

:08:59. > :09:06.of business, or which wrenches the club out of their control.

:09:07. > :09:08.David Henderson, thank you very much.

:09:09. > :09:10.You're watching Reporting Scotland from the BBC.

:09:11. > :09:11.Still to come on tonight's programme:

:09:12. > :09:14.He won Commonwealth gold - now Ross Murdoch has another big

:09:15. > :09:22.moment in the pool as he meets his biggest fan.

:09:23. > :09:28.And in sport, don't panic, says Celtic's chief executive. He defends

:09:29. > :09:36.the club's signing policy and its manager. And No more drama, No more

:09:37. > :09:38.pain, as Andy Murray wins through to the last 32 of the U.S. Open.

:09:39. > :09:40.The mother of a man murdered in an Edinburgh street has begged

:09:41. > :09:42.members of the local community to help catch her son's killers.

:09:43. > :09:44.Lynn Morrison's son Robbie was stabbed last Friday in

:09:45. > :09:49.Detectives say they're convinced local people know what happened to

:09:50. > :09:52.the 31-year-old and have set up a confidential phone line to encourage

:09:53. > :10:06.Police on the streets of Wester Hailes to reassure locals following

:10:07. > :10:11.Robbie Morrison's violent death, but also to encourage them to open up.

:10:12. > :10:16.One week on, and there are still gaps in the investigation. Who

:10:17. > :10:19.attacked the 31-year-old and why? Questions for detectives and his

:10:20. > :10:24.mother Lynne. I just beg anyone to come forward if

:10:25. > :10:33.they have any information. I really need to put my son 's arrest. -- to

:10:34. > :10:37.put my son to rest. I am pleading with anyone who knows something to

:10:38. > :10:40.come forward. There must be mothers here who have children that know how

:10:41. > :10:44.I feel. Robbie Morrison lived a few miles

:10:45. > :10:48.away, but last Friday afternoon, he had come here to Wester Hailes when

:10:49. > :10:53.he was seriously assaulted in this street. After being stabbed and

:10:54. > :10:57.beaten by two men, he managed to struggle 300 yards along a nearby

:10:58. > :11:01.path, where he collapsed. Father to a three-year-old, who died

:11:02. > :11:04.in hospital days later. Detectives say one of the men they are looking

:11:05. > :11:10.for was riding a mountain bike, but they need more information.

:11:11. > :11:13.We've had a good response from some areas, but we know there is a whole

:11:14. > :11:16.lot more people out there that know exactly what has happened here, and

:11:17. > :11:19.that is the point of today, to engage with them, to point out we

:11:20. > :11:23.need them to come forward so we can act on their information.

:11:24. > :11:27.Confidential tax and phone lines have been set up as police search

:11:28. > :11:28.for crucial details that for now, they believe are concealed within

:11:29. > :11:29.this community. A date has been set for a hearing

:11:30. > :11:34.in which the Crown will apply A look at other stories from

:11:35. > :11:36.across the country now. A man has been taken to hospital

:11:37. > :11:40.after his car crashed into a house The accident happened

:11:41. > :11:43.around 8 o'clock this morning. The man was taken to

:11:44. > :11:45.Aberdeen Royal Infirmary suffering The car also hit power lines

:11:46. > :11:54.on the roadside. A crash between

:11:55. > :11:57.an Edinburgh tram and a bus caused major disruption in the city centre

:11:58. > :11:59.during this morning's rush hour. No one was injured

:12:00. > :12:01.in the collision close to Haymarket It took recovery teams more than two

:12:02. > :12:05.hours to separate them Around 40 firefighters have been

:12:06. > :12:11.tackling a blaze The fire broke out in Rosemount

:12:12. > :12:18.Place shortly before two o'clock. It's affected a dry cleaners,

:12:19. > :12:21.flats and neighbouring shops. People working and living there were

:12:22. > :12:23.evacuated from buildings nearby. Council and housing association

:12:24. > :12:30.tenants will now be able to get more information about how well

:12:31. > :12:33.their landlord is performing. The Scottish Housing Regulator is

:12:34. > :12:37.putting more information online, including data on the quality

:12:38. > :12:40.of the housing stock An application for a new bookmakers

:12:41. > :12:47.in Orkney has been turned down for a second time, because of concerns

:12:48. > :12:51.over fixed odds gaming machines. A previous decision to turn

:12:52. > :12:54.down the application is currently Edinburgh Airport is increasing

:12:55. > :13:01.its charges for drivers who take more than five minutes to drop off

:13:02. > :13:04.passengers at the terminal building. The ?1 charge will increase to ?2

:13:05. > :13:09.for stays of between five and ten minutes, and rise to ?7 for stays

:13:10. > :13:15.of between 20 minutes and an hour. Thousands of people searching

:13:16. > :13:19.for their past are homing in on Glasgow over the next couple

:13:20. > :13:22.of days for one of the country's is giving amateurs

:13:23. > :13:39.the chance to find out how to trace If an time now.

:13:40. > :13:45.We have just had a 100th episode, so that was really the launch pad which

:13:46. > :13:48.allow beginners to get enthusiastic about understanding of family

:13:49. > :13:49.history, and seeing the stories that can come from understanding your

:13:50. > :13:53.ancestors. Members of Team Scotland are

:13:54. > :13:56.in Edinburgh tonight for a celebration of their achievements

:13:57. > :13:58.at the Commonwealth Games. Our Games reporter Lisa Summers is

:13:59. > :14:07.at the City Chambers for us tonight. It's hard to believe it is nearly a

:14:08. > :14:11.month since the Commonwealth Games ended. Today is a chance for those

:14:12. > :14:15.athletes who hail from Edinburgh to get a chance to meet some of the

:14:16. > :14:19.fans and also for the city to say thank you for their successes and

:14:20. > :14:23.efforts during the games. Joining me RA couple of gold medallist. We have

:14:24. > :14:28.Euan Burton, judo gold-medal list, and Josh Taylor, who won a gold

:14:29. > :14:34.medal in boxing. It has been almost a month. Has it been for you? It was

:14:35. > :14:38.kind of back to earth with a bump for me. The Monday after the closing

:14:39. > :14:42.ceremony, I was still in Glasgow doing some stuff with the BBC, and

:14:43. > :14:46.then on the Tuesday, I was back to work and did a 13 hour shift. So it

:14:47. > :14:48.is pretty much back to work for me and back to trying to prepare the

:14:49. > :14:52.next generation of athletes coming through for judo Scotland to make

:14:53. > :14:55.sure that they can replicate our success at the Commonwealth Games

:14:56. > :14:59.and go even better at World Championships and Olympics in the

:15:00. > :15:03.future. One of the sports we clearly remember, because we did so well in

:15:04. > :15:06.judo. Have you already seen that filtering through our Grassroots?

:15:07. > :15:10.Now you have officially retired, you are really working with the elite

:15:11. > :15:13.athletes, but is it starting to come through at grassroots level? I think

:15:14. > :15:17.so. More and more people are interested in the sport. We want to

:15:18. > :15:21.see judo being one of those kind of core sports in Scotland that people

:15:22. > :15:24.think of as a Scottish sport. People think of boxing that way. It is

:15:25. > :15:29.really a Scottish sport. Everybody wants their kids to learn how to

:15:30. > :15:33.cycle and to swim, but we think the judo has a lot to offer people, not

:15:34. > :15:36.just in performance, but all the way through the pathway, and we would

:15:37. > :15:39.love to see in the future that it was one of those Scottish sports

:15:40. > :15:44.that is really thought about in a higher regard in the future for

:15:45. > :15:48.Scotland. Jos, for you, you have had a few weeks off, but pretty much

:15:49. > :15:51.back to training now? You had to training now? You at least at the

:15:52. > :15:56.new Audi Olympics two Yes, back to Sheffield for training next week. I

:15:57. > :16:00.am going to feel the pace there. I will hopefully be able to focus on

:16:01. > :16:04.Rio in two years. Have you had a real chance to sit down and let it

:16:05. > :16:09.all sink in? It all seems to disappear like a puff of smoke.

:16:10. > :16:12.Definitely. The last couple of weeks I have still been on cloud nine and

:16:13. > :16:17.invited to different football games and guests here and there, and it

:16:18. > :16:21.still does not feel real. But last week was the first chance I had to

:16:22. > :16:25.sort of sit down and let it all sink in. It was brilliant. All the best

:16:26. > :16:29.with the training for the Olympics, and thank you for talking to us

:16:30. > :16:32.today. You can see behind me, quite a lot of the other athletes are

:16:33. > :16:35.enjoying meeting the fans, getting selfie is taken and that sort of

:16:36. > :16:40.thing, and in a few moments, they will head into a reception at the

:16:41. > :16:44.city Chambers, and they will be attending the junk Edinburgh sports

:16:45. > :16:46.awards, where we might see some of the new generation of sports stars.

:16:47. > :16:49.Celtic's chief executive says the club won't panic

:16:50. > :16:52.following their failure to qualify for the Champions league.

:16:53. > :16:54.Peter Lawwell's standing by the manager Ronny Deila, saying

:16:55. > :17:00.He's also been defending the club's transfer policy - but

:17:01. > :17:05.admits there have been more failures than success in recent times.

:17:06. > :17:16.He was speaking to our senior football reporter Alasdair Lamont.

:17:17. > :17:21.Today's Europa League draw lacked the star quality of its Champions

:17:22. > :17:25.League equivalent. Celtic want this to be a new chapter, but still, the

:17:26. > :17:30.memory of what might have been wants the club. Fan discontent pointed to

:17:31. > :17:34.a lack of spending on the team will stop not so, says the man copping

:17:35. > :17:36.the flak. Everything that comes in in terms of

:17:37. > :17:43.ticket sales, merchandise, player sales, is reinvested in transfers,

:17:44. > :17:46.player wages, and running the club. Would you accent that in the last

:17:47. > :17:50.year or so, that policy has been more miss than hit in terms of the

:17:51. > :17:52.guys you have brought in and their impact on the squad?

:17:53. > :17:58.Recently, it is a valid point. Have we replaced what is left,

:17:59. > :18:03.particularly in the striker department with as good quality? I

:18:04. > :18:07.think that would be a question. That is not, again, down to the lack of

:18:08. > :18:12.intent to do that, or the lack of money available to do that. It was

:18:13. > :18:16.just judgement calls at the time. One factor shaping Celtic's policy

:18:17. > :18:21.is the lack of domestic competition in the absence of Rangers. That has

:18:22. > :18:26.meant less TV money and No league sponsor. In this third year, we have

:18:27. > :18:30.suffered more than any other club, no question.

:18:31. > :18:35.I think that has been forgotten. Expectations remain the same. So I

:18:36. > :18:41.think the third year is more difficult than the first year. We

:18:42. > :18:46.need competition in Scotland, no matter where it comes from. We need

:18:47. > :18:49.meaningful games. In the meantime, Ronny Deila has the

:18:50. > :18:51.chief executive's backing as Celtic tries to get back on track.

:18:52. > :18:53.Andy Murray's through to last 32 of the US Open.

:18:54. > :18:55.He beat the German Matthias Bachinger

:18:56. > :18:58.There were no signs of the severe cramp that affected Murray

:19:23. > :19:27.a match here since Anacona Gomez back in 1996. Of course, ten years

:19:28. > :19:30.ago, Scotland had its very own teen sensation who stormed through to win

:19:31. > :19:35.the US open juniors. I wonder what happened to him?

:19:36. > :19:39.Yes, and Olympic Cauldron Apple, two grand slams and exactly one decade

:19:40. > :19:42.later, Andy Murray was once again looking to make a big impression on

:19:43. > :19:46.the US open, and he did not disappoint, going through his full

:19:47. > :19:50.repertoire of tricks against the German qualifier, who played well,

:19:51. > :19:55.but just could not live with the superiority of the Scot. A straight

:19:56. > :19:58.sets win, a big improvement on his first-round victory.

:19:59. > :20:02.Physically, I felt fine tonight. I was in a lot better condition, so

:20:03. > :20:07.that helped. It was very windy tonight as well. I recovered well. I

:20:08. > :20:15.woke up on Tuesday and Wednesday feeling fine, and practised well.

:20:16. > :20:21., Russia's Andrii Kuzmenko on Saturday. Here's a top-level player,

:20:22. > :20:24.and he is a great player, and he dealt with it is not going to be

:20:25. > :20:31.easy for me. Still, I think I will have some chances. The question is

:20:32. > :20:37.whether I will use them or not. It is just nice to have no issues in

:20:38. > :20:39.the match this evening, and get a good night's sleep tonight, get

:20:40. > :20:41.ready for the next round. Now, a look at what else is

:20:42. > :20:50.happening across Scottish sport. A round of seven under par at the

:20:51. > :20:53.Italian open keeps Stephen Gallagher in with a slim chance of an

:20:54. > :20:57.automatic Ryder Cup slot. He needs to finish in the top two to make the

:20:58. > :21:00.European team. He is eight behind the leader.

:21:01. > :21:04.Calum MacLeod has agreed a new five-year deal with Celtic. The

:21:05. > :21:07.21-year-old has broken into the team this season.

:21:08. > :21:10.I'm delighted to be part of such a big club like Celtic, and I'm just

:21:11. > :21:13.really looking forward to keeping going, trying to play games and do

:21:39. > :21:39.There is more on all today's stories on the BBC sport website. It is

:21:40. > :21:46.available seven days a It started with a letter from

:21:47. > :21:48.a five-year-old boy to his swimming hero, the 200-metre Commonwealth

:21:49. > :21:50.Gold medallist Ross Murdoch. But it took a Twitter appeal

:21:51. > :21:54.from Ross to find out how to contact Today Brian Fitzpatrick met up with

:21:55. > :22:00.Ross Murdoch at a pool in Stirling and even got

:22:01. > :22:13.the chance to swim with him. Finally, the big moment has arrived.

:22:14. > :22:22.Five-year-old Brian meets his hero, Ross. Time for a look at that

:22:23. > :22:29.letter. Is this me? Do hold it as well. So that is me? And is this

:22:30. > :22:33.you? And a hold of the gold-medal. I put out the appeal, and in under 24

:22:34. > :22:37.hours, we had managed to track down his folks, so it was a bit mental,

:22:38. > :22:45.but I'm glad we managed to find Brian. Then it was down to business.

:22:46. > :22:48.And it is into the pool. When we came here on Wednesday to help Ross

:22:49. > :22:53.try to find Brian, we did not think we would be doing this today.

:22:54. > :23:04.And now, the moment we've all been waiting for. The race.

:23:05. > :23:24.What did it feel like to beat the Commonwealth gold medallist? Doing

:23:25. > :23:28.your favourite stroke? My favourite stroke was the breaststroke. Oh,

:23:29. > :23:36.breaststroke is your favourite. Were you doing the front roll there? And

:23:37. > :23:40.you won't? Yes. How does that feel? Good. He likes to use backward

:23:41. > :23:44.swordfish, but he pulled out a sneaky front crawl at the last

:23:45. > :23:48.minute, and got his hand on the wall first! And all this from that letter

:23:49. > :23:51.from Brian. Ross' biggest fan. We didn't have a

:23:52. > :23:55.clue. We thought he was doodling on the

:23:56. > :23:59.floor. He asked his mum for help with spelling and she gave in it.

:24:00. > :24:04.The next thing we know, he asked for a stamp, which was a bit awkward,

:24:05. > :24:07.because it was on a bank slip some important information on. We scanned

:24:08. > :24:10.it and post it, and we are delighted, because we still have the

:24:11. > :24:14.original. He is a great little kid, one of the

:24:15. > :24:17.best I have seen at age five. I taught swimming by over three years,

:24:18. > :24:21.and it took me a long time to get kids aged five to do what he has

:24:22. > :24:28.done today. Will you be a Commonwealth champion?

:24:29. > :24:36.A day to remember, and Brian is definitely one to watch in the

:24:37. > :24:38.future as well. He is really good! Well done, Brian.

:24:39. > :24:44.Let's get all the weekend weather now, from Christopher.

:24:45. > :24:50.Hello. Certainly some rain around today, a lot in places, but a slow

:24:51. > :24:55.improvement this evening. The rain tends to fizzle and fade away, wind

:24:56. > :24:59.easing down as well. Across the north-west, some wet weather

:25:00. > :25:03.overnight, and still fairly cloudy even if you don't have the rain, so

:25:04. > :25:08.certainly not a cold night, temperatures in towns and cities in

:25:09. > :25:10.double digits. To the weekend, and low pressure still implementing

:25:11. > :25:14.conditions, pulling away towards the north-east, introducing a westerly

:25:15. > :25:20.flow of air, and bringing in a number of showers through the

:25:21. > :25:25.morning. Then, it tends to improve. We will hold onto those showers

:25:26. > :25:28.across the North West, and may be down towards Kintyre. Most of

:25:29. > :25:32.central and southern Scotland is dry, fairly cloudy, but that will

:25:33. > :25:36.thin we will see some bright and even sunny spells coming through. By

:25:37. > :25:40.mid-afternoon across central and southern parts, dry, one or two

:25:41. > :25:45.light showers, temperatures up to 18 degrees. Further north, in towards

:25:46. > :25:46.the Highlands and Islands, Marie, Northern Aberdeenshire and the

:25:47. > :25:52.Northern Isles, showers fairly frequent, loudly, and the odd bright

:25:53. > :25:59.glimpse at times. If you are hillwalking or climbing tomorrow, a

:26:00. > :26:02.number of heavy showers around. Further south, drier weather and

:26:03. > :26:06.brighter skies, wind veering west to leave the further south you come. A

:26:07. > :26:10.similar story across the eastern ranges. The best of any brighter

:26:11. > :26:18.weather to the south-east. Temperatures there at Munro levels

:26:19. > :26:24.or the summits. Good visibility in the inshore waters. Around the Firth

:26:25. > :26:31.of Forth on Firth of Tay, a force for to force five Breeze, good

:26:32. > :26:36.season good visibility. Into the afternoon and overnight, showers

:26:37. > :26:41.continued to fizzle and fade a way. On Sunday, it gets up to a dry and

:26:42. > :26:45.bright start, some sunshine around, and holding onto those conditions in

:26:46. > :26:49.the east. In the West, clouding over, with wet weather arriving

:26:50. > :26:53.through the day. If we look at the pressure chart, we can see that is

:26:54. > :26:57.connected to this area of high pressure towards Iceland, but it is

:26:58. > :27:00.moving away and taking that weather front with it as we head towards

:27:01. > :27:06.next week, a lambing this area of high pressure to build. At times,

:27:07. > :27:10.after what has been a rather autumnal August, September getting

:27:11. > :27:11.off to a more summary start. Dry, settled in the sunshine, and 20

:27:12. > :27:16.degrees or more. Now,

:27:17. > :27:18.a reminder of tonight's main news. The UK's terror threat level has

:27:19. > :27:20.been raised from 'substantial' to 'severe' in response to

:27:21. > :27:23.the conflicts in Syria and Iraq. The Prime Minister promised new

:27:24. > :27:25.legislation to make it easier to take passports away

:27:26. > :27:27.from people who travel abroad to The First Minister Alex Salmond has

:27:28. > :27:32.claimed that independence will save I'll be back with the headlines

:27:33. > :27:38.at 8 and the late bulletin just Until then, from everyone on

:27:39. > :27:44.the team, have a very good evening.
