:00:08. > :00:11.Flooding is affecting many parts of Scotland after

:00:12. > :00:14.the country was battered overnight by strong winds and heavy rain.

:00:15. > :00:17.While some people have been starting to clear up after the worst effects

:00:18. > :00:20.of Storm Desmond, there are still dozens of flood warnings in place.

:00:21. > :00:23.A severe flood warning is still active in Hawick, and there are

:00:24. > :00:29.flood alerts along large sections of rivers in Tayside.

:00:30. > :00:46.Storm Desmond left behind 's deans of stunning beauty, but also mess in

:00:47. > :00:50.damage. -- scenes. 600 people had to leave their homes in Hawick when the

:00:51. > :00:53.river overflowed and the town experienced its worst floods for a

:00:54. > :00:59.decade. The local leisure centre took a lot of people in. They were

:01:00. > :01:06.fantastic, the Salvation Army were out helping. It's been a great

:01:07. > :01:11.community effort. And the river here in Dumfries broke the bank. It

:01:12. > :01:14.unedited properties, sandbags and in Dumfries broke the bank. It

:01:15. > :01:17.floodgates were no real barrier to the water. People arrived here this

:01:18. > :01:21.morning to an all-too-familiar sight. They are well used to

:01:22. > :01:27.cleaning up here, but it doesn't get any easier. You know what's going to

:01:28. > :01:32.happen. You can have the barriers you you want, but it will come up

:01:33. > :01:37.anyway. It has to stop. The storm disrupted travel. No trains ran

:01:38. > :01:41.today on the west coast rail line. Services also cancelled between

:01:42. > :01:50.Perth and Inverness and Glasgow to Largs. Scores of roads were closed

:01:51. > :01:54.all across the country. This is a road between countries in Lockerbie.

:01:55. > :01:58.Simply no go areas for drivers. But the floods look spectacular from the

:01:59. > :02:04.air. This drone footage was shot this morning. The continuous rain

:02:05. > :02:08.stopped overnight after 36 hours. And today has been an improving

:02:09. > :02:13.picture. But more rain is forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday and will

:02:14. > :02:15.fault on saturated ground. In vulnerable areas like this home it

:02:16. > :02:22.might yet soon to put away the mops. The Scottish Government has put

:02:23. > :02:25.in place a travel plan aimed at easing the impact of the

:02:26. > :02:28.Forth Road Bridge closure. It includes additional train and bus

:02:29. > :02:30.services and a dedicated corridor All the details are on the

:02:31. > :02:36.Traffic Scotland website. But the Transport Minister warned

:02:37. > :02:47.there'll still be delays We will have extra stuff out there,

:02:48. > :02:49.extra response and enhanced public transport, but it will be

:02:50. > :02:53.unpredictable what people will choose to do. We will enhance

:02:54. > :03:00.capacity as much as possible to support as much as possible of the

:03:01. > :03:01.travelling public as we can. BBC Scotland will have all the traffic

:03:02. > :03:04.information tomorrow morning. A cyclist has died

:03:05. > :03:06.after being involved in a collision with a car

:03:07. > :03:08.in Midlothian this morning. The crash happened on the A68

:03:09. > :03:10.near Pathhead. The 50-year-old man was

:03:11. > :03:12.pronounced dead at the scene. The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon

:03:13. > :03:16.has said she'll use her visit to the UN Climate Change Conference

:03:17. > :03:19.in Paris this week to call for the "most ambitious deal possible" on

:03:20. > :03:21.cuts to greenhouse gas emissions. Campaigners have said it's time for

:03:22. > :03:24.the Scottish Government to ensure Our environment correspondent

:03:25. > :03:40.David Miller reports from Paris. The First Minister arrives here in

:03:41. > :03:44.Paris at a time when she is facing increased criticism from her

:03:45. > :03:49.political opponents at home. Over Scotland's failure to hit its own

:03:50. > :03:55.annual greenhouse gas targets. But Nicola Sturgeon believes she still

:03:56. > :04:00.has a positive story to tell here. Ministers are increasingly confident

:04:01. > :04:04.Scotland can and will achieve its goal of reducing greenhouse gas

:04:05. > :04:11.emissions by 42% by the end of the decade. With its record under

:04:12. > :04:15.intense scrutiny, climate campaigners here argued the Scottish

:04:16. > :04:19.Government must now raise its game. We really do need to be making more

:04:20. > :04:22.progress. With four Mr annual targets now, there is clearly much

:04:23. > :04:27.more that needs to be done. When you do have the same type of revelation

:04:28. > :04:33.that we have seen in renewable energies. The First Minister is also

:04:34. > :04:39.expected to call on action for climate justice, the aim on... For

:04:40. > :04:42.protecting the world's poor. I would like to see other countries

:04:43. > :04:45.following Scotland's leadership on climate justice and is something the

:04:46. > :04:49.Scottish Government has really championed and I am proud of that.

:04:50. > :04:52.Let's get the weather prospects for this evening and the start of

:04:53. > :05:08.It certainly is. A lot of settled weather for this evening and

:05:09. > :05:13.overnight. A fairly widespread frost forming, then the next change taking

:05:14. > :05:16.place as we see this band of patchy rain pushing in the southwest with a

:05:17. > :05:22.southeasterly wind also picking up as the rain moves in. Freezing if

:05:23. > :05:25.not below in the north, two or three in the South, rising by tomorrow

:05:26. > :05:29.morning. Let's look at the pressure chart. We can see the warm front

:05:30. > :05:33.approaching tomorrow, introducing patchy rain, also milder air. His

:05:34. > :05:37.cold front bringing outbreaks of rain tomorrow night, windy

:05:38. > :05:43.conditions as well, but not the rain was all over the weekend. Tuesday,

:05:44. > :05:46.but the westerly winds, starting off with some brightness in the

:05:47. > :05:51.Northeast, but then the band of rain pushes and across a lot of Scotland.

:05:52. > :05:56.Why patchy nature, becoming combined to the Northern Ireland's. It

:05:57. > :06:00.becomes dull and damp. Something brighter for the 70s, the winds

:06:01. > :06:04.continue to strengthen. Look at the temperature, 12 or 13 Celsius

:06:05. > :06:05.tomorrow, that's your forecast.
