:00:12. > :00:11.no idea. I don't know, mate. I don't to meet The Beatles.

:00:12. > :00:17.after a three-week closure caused major disruption.

:00:18. > :00:19.All but HGVs were allowed on - they won't get the chance

:00:20. > :00:25.Our reporter Lisa Summers has been following the day's events.

:00:26. > :00:35.5:20am, and the Forth Road Bridge was back in action.

:00:36. > :00:38.Even Santa made an appearance to cheer on the passing traffic.

:00:39. > :00:40.Vans, cars, buses and bikes make 90% of users.

:00:41. > :00:42.They had a clear run across the water.

:00:43. > :00:48.It is nice to stretch your legs and get back in the swing of things.

:00:49. > :00:55.It's even been too busy to get the bike on.

:00:56. > :01:00.From paying nothing to the best part of ?15 a day has been

:01:01. > :01:21.For one small business about six a.m., it has been relieved. It added

:01:22. > :01:26.a lot onto the route. Not so good the heavy goods vehicles, it is

:01:27. > :01:31.another six weeks before they can cross. The industry says it will

:01:32. > :02:19.cost ?40 million, affecting businesses across the country.

:02:20. > :02:23.customers. The Scottish Government says it is set up a helpline for

:02:24. > :02:27.lorry drivers and there is still quite a lot of work to be done on

:02:28. > :02:30.the bridge in January, which means some restrictions overnight, and

:02:31. > :02:33.then we will have the Parliamentary inquiry to try and establish whether

:02:34. > :02:35.anything could have been done to stop disclosure happening in the

:02:36. > :02:36.place. Remains found in West Lothian last

:02:37. > :02:39.week have been confirmed as human. The find was made by a dog walker

:02:40. > :02:42.last Thursday in a wooded area Police say they're now trying

:02:43. > :02:46.to identify the person and establish The Scotch Whisky Association

:02:47. > :02:49.has welcomed a ruling by the European Court of Justice

:02:50. > :02:52.over the proposed introduction The court in Luxembourg said

:02:53. > :02:57.the policy, which the drinks lobby opposes, contravenes

:02:58. > :03:00.free trade laws. Scottish Government ministers say

:03:01. > :03:04.they'll continue to argue that minimum pricing targets

:03:05. > :03:05.problem drinkers. Our Home Affairs Correspondent

:03:06. > :03:11.Reevel Alderson reports. Scotland has a troubled

:03:12. > :03:13.relationship with alcohol. ?3.6 billion is the estimated

:03:14. > :03:17.annual cost to the NHS Last year, there were more

:03:18. > :03:23.than 35,000 alcohol-related The Government has proposed a 50p

:03:24. > :03:54.minimum that European Court of Justice

:03:55. > :03:54.was asked whether this policy Their ruling today is

:03:55. > :03:54.far from definitive. Judges have passed that baton back

:03:55. > :03:54.to the Court of Session in Edinburgh to determine whether an alternative

:03:55. > :03:55.such as increasing alcohol The Scotch Whisky Association said

:03:56. > :04:14.the ruling confirmed minimum unit What it does is really confirm 30

:04:15. > :04:17.years of European case law, it says that minimum pricing is a

:04:18. > :04:21.restriction on trade in the EU and therefore it is illegal to choose

:04:22. > :04:24.minimum pricing when there are other less restrictive means available.

:04:25. > :04:28.The Scottish Government also welcomed the ruling.

:04:29. > :04:35.Drinks taxes are reserved to Westminster, but

:04:36. > :04:38.Ministers here say they will try to persuade Scottish judges that

:04:39. > :04:40.minimum unit pricing targets drinkers.

:04:41. > :04:48.taxation affects all drinkers and drinks in the same way. Minimum

:04:49. > :04:52.pricing targets those cheap, strong products that do the most harm so we

:04:53. > :04:55.will argue strongly that it is actually a less restrictive measure

:04:56. > :05:02.and more targeted and therefore more effective. Health

:05:03. > :05:06.alcohol is 60% cheaper than it was in 1980 and it is vital that problem

:05:07. > :05:09.drinking and the anti-social behaviour it causes are tackled. We

:05:10. > :05:14.are really disappointed that this court case continues. We have 20

:05:15. > :05:17.people a week in Scotland dying of alcohol-related causes and that is

:05:18. > :05:21.avoidable and the best way to reduce those deaths is to get this cheap

:05:22. > :05:46.dangerous product of the market, and those deaths is to get this cheap

:05:47. > :05:46.will be appealed to the UK Supreme Court.

:05:47. > :05:46.It may be just two sleeps until Christmas, but Santa

:05:47. > :05:48.and his reindeer have taken some time out of their busy schedule

:05:49. > :05:50.to visit children in the north of Glasgow.

:05:51. > :05:51.Pupils at Saracen Primary in Possilpark enjoyed breakfast

:05:52. > :05:55.Our reporter Laura Maxwell joined them too.

:05:56. > :05:59.And when you're getting ready for a busy night,

:06:00. > :06:02.some relaxing pampering is welcome too.

:06:03. > :06:15.I want an elf. breakfast and a last minute

:06:16. > :06:17.All of this organised by Santa's other helpers -

:06:18. > :06:21.They are in a place they love to come to.

:06:22. > :06:26.They are having a present, having a brilliant time here

:06:27. > :06:29.and they are getting to see the reindeer.

:06:30. > :06:33.That's an experience most children don't get to do.

:06:34. > :06:37.Hopefully, today, we are creating a lifetime memory.

:06:38. > :06:40.When the time came, Santa didn't disappoint.

:06:41. > :06:54.Gifts specially chosen from the lists the children had written.

:06:55. > :07:00.And when they finally got through the wrapping paper, delight.

:07:01. > :07:11.I like to take a photo of the reindeer.

:07:12. > :07:37.And get my presents and got Santa some presents.

:07:38. > :07:37.Mums and dads too given a bag of Christmas treats.

:07:38. > :07:37.They've put a wonderful day on for the kids and the kids have

:07:38. > :07:38.That's all they've been speaking about all week,

:07:39. > :07:39.Something different for the kids as well.

:07:40. > :07:42.As Santa and his reindeer prepare to get back to work,

:07:43. > :08:02.Well, let's get the all important the weather outlook

:08:03. > :08:10.rest of us. If Santa was aired tonight, he may get blown off

:08:11. > :08:17.course, it is a wet and windy one right across the country, Gale force

:08:18. > :08:21.or severe gales at times, and it is all courtesy of Eva, our fifth named

:08:22. > :08:26.storm, but really it is a glancing blow as it pushes up the north-west

:08:27. > :08:29.side of Scotland. It will bring spells of high winds and heavy rain

:08:30. > :08:34.and we have Met Office yellow warnings to be aware of the both of

:08:35. > :08:40.those. Argyll down to Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders, 60 mph,

:08:41. > :08:45.but up towards the far west coast, the Western Isles and the

:08:46. > :08:46.but up towards the far west coast, coast, Kerstholt 70 mph. Come

:08:47. > :08:50.tomorrow morning, the overnight rain is clearing away and the wind is

:08:51. > :08:54.easing of but still quite strong across the far north. If you are

:08:55. > :08:58.journeying south of the border tomorrow, the overnight rain is

:08:59. > :09:01.still in play down the spine of England down to the Isle of Wight

:09:02. > :09:03.but the weather front is working eastwards and it is a cold front, so

:09:04. > :09:46.behind it, the weather on the way. Boxing Day, that

:09:47. > :09:52.second band of rain through Wales and into Cumbria and amber warning.

:09:53. > :09:54.Temperatures on the up. Our next update is during Breakfast

:09:55. > :09:58.at 6:25 tomorrow morning. But, from everyone on the late

:09:59. > :10:00.team here, good night.
