:00:00. > :00:10.Scotland has been celebrating the arrival of 2016.

:00:11. > :00:15.The biggest event was Edinburgh's Hogmanay festival,

:00:16. > :00:18.where up to 75,000 revellers brought the New Year in on Princes Street.

:00:19. > :00:32.A piper started the countdown to 2016.

:00:33. > :00:37.A piper started the countdown to fireworks spectacle from Edinburgh

:00:38. > :00:41.Castle. They partied on Princes Street and was a ceilidh on the

:00:42. > :00:45.Royal mile. The clean-up operation was almost complete by Don. Barely a

:00:46. > :00:49.sign of the scale of the party from the night before. Organisers are

:00:50. > :00:54.hearing its success. We have a unique offering, great bands, great

:00:55. > :00:56.fireworks and an amazing three-day programme of events. We

:00:57. > :01:00.fireworks and an amazing three-day bigger and better every year.

:01:01. > :01:08.Elsewhere in Portobello, the increasingly popular early morning

:01:09. > :01:13.run, the perfect way to start those New Year is resolutions. My new

:01:14. > :01:19.years resolution is to stop eating chocolate. After words, a few David

:01:20. > :01:26.years resolution is to stop eating Luiz opting for a dip. -- a few

:01:27. > :01:35.dafties. Maybe I will do it again next year! I want to be a kelpie in

:01:36. > :01:37.my next life. It's totally crazy. Certainly a good way to clear the

:01:38. > :01:40.head. Certainly a good way to clear the

:01:41. > :01:43.Who needs a towel when you can dance yourself dry?

:01:44. > :01:46.Forecasters have warned of more heavy rain over the weekend,

:01:47. > :01:51.as the clean-up effort continues in flood-hit areas of Scotland.

:01:52. > :01:54.The Met Office has issued amber "be prepared" warnings of rain for much

:01:55. > :01:58.Catriona Renton has been to a community which

:01:59. > :02:08.Here in Castle Douglas, Andrew shows me the damage at his home and

:02:09. > :02:13.holiday apartments. It came up a couple of inches inside. Inside all

:02:14. > :02:22.the properties. The people on holiday in both the apartments. So

:02:23. > :02:27.we had to evacuate them yesterday. Others in the town are feeling the

:02:28. > :02:36.effects. You have got the sandbags out? Yes. Did you get

:02:37. > :02:40.effects. You have got the sandbags house? No, but it was up to there.

:02:41. > :02:43.Quite scary. There is some respite today but it will take some time to

:02:44. > :02:48.clear up the devastation caused by the sheer amount of butter. And

:02:49. > :02:52.there are some amber warnings in place for people in parts of central

:02:53. > :02:57.and northern Scotland, starting from tomorrow. People down here are just

:02:58. > :03:01.hoping that the rain will stay off. With so much what are already on the

:03:02. > :03:08.ground, like here in Perthshire, there are concerns that there will

:03:09. > :03:10.be yet more flooding to come. The Royal Navy's HMS gannet certain

:03:11. > :03:14.rescue helicopter service in Scotland has been officially

:03:15. > :03:17.replaced by a civilian run team at Prestwick airport.

:03:18. > :03:19.It's run by Bristow Helicopters for Her Majesty's Coastguard

:03:20. > :03:21.and completes the privatisation of search and rescue

:03:22. > :03:32.Outwith the old and in with new. The distinctive red and white

:03:33. > :03:39.helicopters operational today from a ?7 million base at Prestwick

:03:40. > :03:44.airport, replacing the Sea King helicopters from HMS Gannet. I know

:03:45. > :03:51.how much it meant on this region of the country to rely on these

:03:52. > :03:57.helicopters. I can assure the people of Scotland that they will see no

:03:58. > :04:03.diminishing of the service. This is the ?25 million Corsica helicopter.

:04:04. > :04:06.Let's look inside. At the back, a large tour with a ramp for easy

:04:07. > :04:12.access. Along the side, ten passenger seats to carry perhaps a

:04:13. > :04:15.mountain rescue team. Space for two stretcher casualties and two crew

:04:16. > :04:20.seats, one for the winch operator and one for the winchman, there will

:04:21. > :04:25.be lowered to a cattle to using one of these two electric hoists. And

:04:26. > :04:27.any cockpit, packed with state-of-the-art navigational

:04:28. > :04:31.equipment, allowing this helicopter to get closer to the ground in more

:04:32. > :04:41.dangerous conditions than many before it. I have flown it in 16

:04:42. > :04:51.twins, basically throwing it to the ground. This aircraft can cope with

:04:52. > :04:53.these conditions. -- 60 nought winds.

:04:54. > :04:56.Police Scotland are using dogs and a helicopter to try and find

:04:57. > :04:58.an elderly Crieff woman, who's been missing since yesterday morning.

:04:59. > :05:00.The last known sighting of 84 year-old Euphemia Clark

:05:01. > :05:02.was at around 6 yesterday morning in Crieff.

:05:03. > :05:07.She was possibly wearing a cardigan, black trousers and black shoes.

:05:08. > :05:09.Let's see how the weather is shaping for the weekend.

:05:10. > :05:21.You forget or deities. Yes, the weekend is almost upon us. Some rain

:05:22. > :05:24.to come over the next 24 hours. That rain has been feeding in across

:05:25. > :05:28.south-west Scotland. The forward edge turning to snow over higher

:05:29. > :05:32.ground. It will be sporadic in nature but the main focus will be in

:05:33. > :05:35.the east, particularly towards the north-east. We will seek fresh to

:05:36. > :05:40.Strong south-easterly winds, particularly along the east coast.

:05:41. > :05:44.Generally dry towards the north-west and the Northern Isles, with

:05:45. > :05:48.overnight lows of four or five. Looking at the pressure charts, we

:05:49. > :05:52.will see this area of low pressure to the south, bringing in strong

:05:53. > :05:56.south-easterly winds, especially to coastal areas, picking up moisture

:05:57. > :06:05.and rain. This weather front adding two things, meaning a rather wet

:06:06. > :06:11.spell to come. For this part of the world, the Met office have already

:06:12. > :06:16.issued an early warning for rain, as Sally mentioned, and that is

:06:17. > :06:18.important, between tomorrow lunchtime on Monday. Be prepared

:06:19. > :06:22.because there has already been flooding in this part of the world.

:06:23. > :06:30.The main focus of the rain will always be across eastern Scotland,

:06:31. > :06:32.drier to the westward brightness. And that is the forecast.
