:00:16. > :00:19.Hundreds of millions of pounds is to be spent in the north-east

:00:20. > :00:21.of Scotland to improve infrastructure like roads,

:00:22. > :00:24.railways and harbours - and to create jobs.

:00:25. > :00:27.The cash is coming from both the Scottish and the UK governments.

:00:28. > :00:29.Visiting Aberdeen, the Prime Minister told BBC Scotland

:00:30. > :00:33.he was "100%" behind efforts to strengthen the oil industry.

:00:34. > :00:42.Here's our political editor Brian Taylor.

:00:43. > :00:50.1975 and her Majesty the cream starts oil flooding from the giant

:00:51. > :00:55.field in the North Sea. If we use it right, this flood of energy can

:00:56. > :01:00.without doubt much improve our economic well-being. For decades

:01:01. > :01:05.after that oil and Aberdeen helped to bankroll Britain. During those

:01:06. > :01:10.decades Aberdeen's economy beams, but passing time and falling oil

:01:11. > :01:19.prices have left the people of Aberdeen anxious for the future, and

:01:20. > :01:24.it is not just oil. This company says that the city needs help. The

:01:25. > :01:29.boss has two counter the concept that the city is remote, poorly

:01:30. > :01:34.served by transport. There is a perception we are in the frozen

:01:35. > :01:38.north and not connected to the rest of the country. Today's city deal

:01:39. > :01:45.signed in Aberdeen combines Council initiatives with money from the UK

:01:46. > :01:49.to boost private investment. The great thing about the city deal is

:01:50. > :01:53.it can leverage in lots of other money which might total about ?2

:01:54. > :01:58.billion coming from other public sector sources and the private

:01:59. > :02:01.sector, so I believe it is going to make a real difference to the

:02:02. > :02:09.economy here in Aberdeen and the north-east. The deal includes

:02:10. > :02:15.expanding Aberdeen harbour. The package extends beyond the city into

:02:16. > :02:20.Aberdeenshire. SNP backbenchers said the city deal is inadequate.

:02:21. > :02:25.Aberdeen deserves more from the UK government than the 125 million they

:02:26. > :02:32.have allocated, particularly considering the Treasury has

:02:33. > :02:39.benefited from over 3000 million pounds of North Sea oil revenue that

:02:40. > :02:42.has flowed from Aberdeen to London. And so in addition the Scottish

:02:43. > :02:48.government announced that new investment in rail will form part of

:02:49. > :02:53.a ?254 million package over 5-10 years. The first Minister was

:02:54. > :02:56.concerned it should go further than the city deal was going to allow us

:02:57. > :03:02.to go. These projects have been identified by the council and so we

:03:03. > :03:08.know it is rooted in what the community thinks is important. We

:03:09. > :03:13.are contributing half of the money, it is a deal between the UK

:03:14. > :03:19.government and the councils. The government have pledged 20 million

:03:20. > :03:23.pounds for new finds in the North Sea. City deal added to tax

:03:24. > :03:31.incentives could also kick-start industry. What do you say to the

:03:32. > :03:37.critics about the revenue Aberdeen oil has generated? In the last

:03:38. > :03:42.budget we have a tax cut to the whole industry which was worth over

:03:43. > :03:47.?1 billion. This city deal comes on top of that, but the point I would

:03:48. > :03:51.make is that this demonstrates the broad shoulders of the United

:03:52. > :03:54.Kingdom can get behind the oil industry, including the oil industry

:03:55. > :03:58.here in Scotland when it faces difficulties. The hope is that

:03:59. > :04:04.private growth will follow this public investment and that in future

:04:05. > :04:08.Aberdeen's oil links remain more than a memory.

:04:09. > :04:10.We're being warned to expect widespread disruption

:04:11. > :04:12.across Scotland tomorrow, as Storm Gertrude sweeps

:04:13. > :04:16.Scotrail has taken the decision to cancel many services tomorrow

:04:17. > :04:21.There will be no trains north of Inverness, no trains to Oban

:04:22. > :04:24.or Fort William, some Clyde Coast services are suspended

:04:25. > :04:27.and the Glasgow-Edinburgh trains will also be affected,

:04:28. > :04:29.cut to half-hourly as the trains will be running more slowly

:04:30. > :04:35.Schools will also be closed in Orkney, Shetland and the Western

:04:36. > :04:47.We have seen in the past all types of things blown onto the railway

:04:48. > :04:53.which poses a safety risk to our trains and to our customers. Some of

:04:54. > :04:59.these odd trees, roofs of buildings, trampolines, garden sheds and the

:05:00. > :05:03.like, and it really poses a derailment risk, so we have two slow

:05:04. > :05:16.our trains down under the circumstances. The forecast is for

:05:17. > :05:19.wins in excess of 80 mph. We will be holding all transport, including

:05:20. > :05:24.public transport and school buses. All schools will be closed tomorrow.

:05:25. > :05:26.We will have a fall weather forecast shortly.

:05:27. > :05:29.Police searching for two elderly women who went missing in Moray

:05:30. > :05:30.earlier this week have found their bodies.

:05:31. > :05:33.Police say they are those of 77 year old Rosemary Laing from Rothes

:05:34. > :05:35.and 85 year old Kathleen Edward from Aberlour.

:05:36. > :05:39.It's understood police are treating the deaths as unrelated.

:05:40. > :05:42.A 9 year old boy, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy,

:05:43. > :05:45.has met the First Minister to appeal for NHS funding

:05:46. > :05:52.Michael Young from Larbert took part in a medical trial for a drug

:05:53. > :05:54.to slow the progress of the muscle-wasting condition.

:05:55. > :05:59.He gave Nicola Sturgeon a letter, urging her to help him have

:06:00. > :06:02.continued access to the medicine, Translarna, which has still to be

:06:03. > :06:07.Many parents aren't fully aware of the dangers

:06:08. > :06:12.That's according to Scottish Government research,

:06:13. > :06:15.suggesting that a third of parents know little about how children can

:06:16. > :06:18.be exploited when they're using smartphones and computers.

:06:19. > :06:21.Now a new TV advert is being shown to alert them,

:06:22. > :06:39.Hello. Enjoy your programme? I am having a great night. I've been

:06:40. > :06:44.messaging your daughter. This could easily be your child's phone. The

:06:45. > :06:49.message is sinister. Those pictures you sent me... The campaign is a

:06:50. > :06:57.stark reminder to parents of the possible dangers on the Internet.

:06:58. > :06:58.stark reminder to parents of the outlet that can advise

:06:59. > :07:04.stark reminder to parents of the sure how to support their children.

:07:05. > :07:07.Think of the Internet is a place, a destination. That is where young

:07:08. > :07:13.children go now, it is all their lives. You would not let them go out

:07:14. > :07:18.and not know where they are going. Parents used to be able to check up

:07:19. > :07:22.on their children as they use the computer in the backroom, but

:07:23. > :07:24.increasing use of mobile phones and tablets means that children can take

:07:25. > :07:27.increasing use of mobile phones and them off to their bedroom. There

:07:28. > :07:28.increasing use of mobile phones and some determined perpetrators out

:07:29. > :07:37.there. If they can get a first some determined perpetrators out

:07:38. > :07:40.purchase, perhaps a picture, it can lead to blackmail. Unless you do

:07:41. > :07:46.more, I will share this with your friends and parents. The least

:07:47. > :07:50.Scotland said they have seen a 77% rise in Internet investigations. The

:07:51. > :07:52.message behind this campaign is simple, talk to your kids to help

:07:53. > :07:57.them stay safe online. She simple, talk to your kids to help

:07:58. > :07:59.over tomorrow for a few drinks. We will see what happens. I cannot

:08:00. > :08:05.wait. Wood product manufacturer Norbord

:08:06. > :08:06.is investing ?95 million in expanding its factory

:08:07. > :08:08.near Inverness. The investment means its expecting

:08:09. > :08:10.to nearly double its production capacity and safeguard

:08:11. > :08:19.around 130 jobs. because international students

:08:20. > :08:21.are unable to stay in the UK after graduating, according

:08:22. > :08:24.to Edinburgh University. It's been telling a Holyrood inquiry

:08:25. > :08:27.that the closure of the post-study work visa programme has had

:08:28. > :08:31.an impact on competitiveness. It claims the university

:08:32. > :08:34.is attracting, developing and then losing some of the brightest

:08:35. > :08:46.talent in the world. It is not just for universities and

:08:47. > :08:52.colleges in terms of the fees that students might pay, but there is

:08:53. > :08:56.also a direct impact on the internationalisation on our

:08:57. > :09:00.laboratories and our output. We want to work with the brightest brains

:09:01. > :09:03.around the world, but if we make it more difficult and cut it off, we do

:09:04. > :09:05.it at our peril. Edinburgh will see 16,000 affordable

:09:06. > :09:08.homes built over the next ten years. Six housing associations

:09:09. > :09:10.have pledged to match Edinburgh City Council's plan

:09:11. > :09:13.to build 8,000 homes in the capital. The city's population is set to grow

:09:14. > :09:17.by up to 30% over the next 20 years. Tennis and two Scots

:09:18. > :09:19.are already through to finals Jamie Murray and Brazilian partner

:09:20. > :09:24.Bruno Soares will play the pairing of Nestor and Stepanek

:09:25. > :09:28.in the doubles final. Gordon Reid's made it too

:09:29. > :09:31.in the wheelchair singles. While Andy Murray can

:09:32. > :09:51.clinch his place in the final Game set and match. And that is all

:09:52. > :09:57.she wrote. Murray, and utterly convincing performance. Is the keys

:09:58. > :10:01.for the camera for mum Judy? Maybe it is just to celebrate reaching his

:10:02. > :10:07.third consecutive grand slam final. Unfortunately I lost to last year.

:10:08. > :10:11.It's not a great feeling to do that. Of course you are proud of yourself

:10:12. > :10:16.for getting that far, it is a great achievement, but when you get there

:10:17. > :10:20.you want to win and on Saturday night we will be laying it on the

:10:21. > :10:25.line and doing our very best to try to win the trophy. Auden read, seen

:10:26. > :10:34.here having it his all in the gem, is determined to do all these can to

:10:35. > :10:39.win the Wiltshire singles. He will play his Belgian opponent for the

:10:40. > :10:43.championship. It's the third time I've played in a final. I'm going to

:10:44. > :10:52.try and enjoy it and do what I have done, use my game plan and try to

:10:53. > :11:03.enjoy. So did the third member of the tartan trio in Melbourne. If

:11:04. > :11:05.Andy Murray wins tomorrow, he will face Novak Djokovic in the final.

:11:06. > :11:19.Let's get that all important weather forecast now

:11:20. > :11:27.Good evening. We have some met office warnings in place. Tonight

:11:28. > :11:34.the wins will strengthen or the while. The wind and rain is courtesy

:11:35. > :11:41.of this deep pressure. It is our seventh named storm of the winter,

:11:42. > :11:54.Gertrude. Winds gusting up to 70 master our across parts of England.

:11:55. > :12:01.Here is Scotland in detail. You can see the amber warning details there.

:12:02. > :12:06.Even where we don't have the amber warning, the lower be aware warning

:12:07. > :12:11.is in place. Significant disruption on the travel front. A very wet

:12:12. > :12:16.morning. There is the potential for some interruption to power supplies

:13:23. > :13:26.But from everyone on the late team here in Glasgow and around
