:00:22. > :00:23.charged with the murder of Glasgow shopkeeper Asad Shah.

:00:24. > :00:31.And inspections are being carried out at schools after the collapse

:00:32. > :00:37.These pictures show Mr Shah working in the shop last August. On Thursday

:00:38. > :00:48.night just after nine o'clock police work gold. If I Mr Shah lying in the

:00:49. > :00:51.street not far from the shop. -- police were called. He was taken to

:00:52. > :00:58.hospital where he was pronounced dead. Just hours before he was

:00:59. > :01:03.stabbed Mr Shah had posted a message on Facebook wishing a happy Easter

:01:04. > :01:12.to what he said was his beloved Christian nation. This is where he

:01:13. > :01:16.worshipped. Police said during an investigation they were treating the

:01:17. > :01:19.death of Mr Shah as religiously prejudiced and that the man who had

:01:20. > :01:33.been arrested was Muslim. Today that man was named as 32-year-old Tanveer

:01:34. > :01:40.Ahmed from Bradford and he was charged in court today with the

:01:41. > :01:47.murder of Mr Shah. Mr Ahmed drove this taxi, filmed inside the police

:01:48. > :01:53.cordon near where Mr Shah was found any helped his licence with Bradford

:01:54. > :02:12.City Council. He has never taken any chips in -- trips in a taxi from the

:02:13. > :02:28.farm Uber Uber. -- from the firm Uber.

:02:29. > :02:31.And inspections are being carried out at schools after the collapse

:02:32. > :02:36.of a wall at an Edinburgh primary earlier this year.

:02:37. > :02:47.The outer wall of Ox gangs primary collapsed in January. Built a decade

:02:48. > :02:49.ago it was one of 17 refurbished in Edinburgh following a deal between

:02:50. > :02:55.the council and private finance consortium. Whether wall collapsed

:02:56. > :02:58.inspections revealed similar problems and three others both run

:02:59. > :03:07.the same time by Miller construction. I do not think it is a

:03:08. > :03:11.contractual issue. All four schools were temporarily closed leaving

:03:12. > :03:17.families like these to do the best of hasty new arrangements. It is

:03:18. > :03:21.really quite something of which we were shocked. As you can see by

:03:22. > :03:24.looking at the place it looks like a new school and it should be a safe

:03:25. > :03:31.environment for the children to Lennon. The deal worth three in a

:03:32. > :03:37.?60 million sell a private consortium build and manage schools

:03:38. > :03:41.in return for 30 years of payments from the council. Miller

:03:42. > :03:46.Construction are part consortium and of others building schools in

:03:47. > :03:52.Scotland. Side a year so earlier, the Private Finance deal in Glasgow

:03:53. > :03:57.for building schools was worth three times as much as Edinburgh is

:03:58. > :04:01.involving 29 secondaries and won the primary. Once again Miller

:04:02. > :04:06.construction played a part to given what has been revealed in the

:04:07. > :04:09.capital, Glasgow City Council says their contractor will carry out

:04:10. > :04:17.surveys and all of the schools are built by the company. We are told

:04:18. > :04:19.that alert Construction built walls using a standard construction

:04:20. > :04:24.technique used throughout the country. Two years ago they were

:04:25. > :04:30.bought over by another building firm. When asked the new owner

:04:31. > :04:34.should be all they had also contacted the clients of PPP schools

:04:35. > :04:38.are built by Miller Construction in Inverclyde and fight for the council

:04:39. > :04:43.say building inspections are being carried out during the Easter

:04:44. > :04:49.holidays. In a statement the company stressed they were not aware of any

:04:50. > :04:53.further defects, describing the actions as a precaution measure.

:04:54. > :05:03.Brian Heaney has been assured his daughter's school has been -- will

:05:04. > :05:05.be open in time. Meanwhile concerns about safety in schools are echoing

:05:06. > :05:17.more widely. Scotland's party leaders have

:05:18. > :05:29.clashed again today. Over a gruelling two hours,

:05:30. > :05:31.they each got a chance Nicola Sturgeon criticised Patrick

:05:32. > :05:54.Harvie. She said that 30% of tax holders would

:05:55. > :06:02.face a tax rise. she teamed up with the Tories

:06:03. > :06:06.in the referendum campaign and questions were put

:06:07. > :06:12.to Ruth Davidson about plans to re-introduce

:06:13. > :06:22.prescription charges. The council tax is based on

:06:23. > :06:27.valuations a quarter of a century old and we know most households are

:06:28. > :06:31.in the wrong band. Free prescriptions have cost the health

:06:32. > :06:43.service 60 rolling pounds. We want to make sure that people can get the

:06:44. > :06:49.drugs they deserve. We believe M ?15 billion worse off because of the

:06:50. > :06:53.collapse and they're all price. I want is to leave the Tigris behind

:06:54. > :06:57.and I think you do as well. I think you want to use the powers in the

:06:58. > :07:01.Parliament to make different choices from the Conservatives. You spent

:07:02. > :07:06.the last ten years of your life arguing about that. Willie Rennie of

:07:07. > :07:12.the Liberal Democrats was asked about his party 's role in the

:07:13. > :07:16.Coalition Government in the UK and kept it up till was asked why she

:07:17. > :07:23.wouldn't back plans for a 50p in income tax. You gave them that

:07:24. > :07:28.majority that the electorate had refused to give them. Look at the

:07:29. > :07:41.effect sense, Patrick. It is plain to see. We must move on to this

:07:42. > :07:47.question. I will not move onto our teachers and nurses. I will forward

:07:48. > :07:50.fear and reasonable tax proposals that actually raise more revenue for

:07:51. > :07:58.our health service and education system. That is the behaviour of a

:07:59. > :08:06.responsible First Minister. Finally admits all through the debate this

:08:07. > :08:19.evening with tax being main issue. Eyes-mac fire -- fiery arguments.

:08:20. > :08:21.The health and safety Exec says significant damage was caused on a

:08:22. > :08:33.The health and safety Exec says marathon all platform on Boxing Day

:08:34. > :08:39.because of pipe maintenance issues. It was great to me as a bomb site. A

:08:40. > :08:51.seven inch pipe which had failed and caused considerable damage. -- it

:08:52. > :09:04.was present at Mike presented to me as a bomb site. 100 years ago what

:09:05. > :09:07.became the Esk in hospital has treated since 85,000 ex-service men

:09:08. > :09:12.and women. Our arts correspondent reports. It was originally known as

:09:13. > :09:18.the Princess Louise hospital for limbless sailors and soldiers, named

:09:19. > :09:24.as patron and set up in 1916. But to most people it is Esk in. This is

:09:25. > :09:28.the very first patient register. This newly discovered archive

:09:29. > :09:33.details as beginnings and its first patients and it is apt to do is come

:09:34. > :09:39.here to Glasgow University. The first connection it through some

:09:40. > :09:46.William McEwan who was also the richest professor of surgery at last

:09:47. > :09:49.University. -- Sir William McEwan. He felt very strongly that a

:09:50. > :09:54.hospital should be set up to deal with the casualties. This man's

:09:55. > :09:56.father Jimmy was the first of 14 patients to be admitted to the

:09:57. > :10:01.father Jimmy was the first of 14 hospital in 1916. He had been

:10:02. > :10:05.seriously injured in Gallipoli and adopting expected to survive. I just

:10:06. > :10:12.said what did they do to your arm, dad? They put it in cup of boiling

:10:13. > :10:15.tar. What do they do with you next? He said it would mean the side of

:10:16. > :10:22.the boat. This is really puts you when you're going to die. But he did

:10:23. > :10:27.not die and was one of thousands of men to receive new limbs at Esk in

:10:28. > :10:32.hospital. He went on to build several businesses and raise a

:10:33. > :10:38.children including David was born in 1926. The belt the hearts and they

:10:39. > :10:43.built bunkers, coal bunkers are never thing like that. He built all

:10:44. > :10:48.these things with the one arm and he would pick the garden. He did

:10:49. > :10:53.everything like that. He was not handless, put it that way. His story

:10:54. > :10:57.is one of many told me as an archive which it is hoped will be digitised

:10:58. > :11:05.as well as featured in a major exhibition at the University later

:11:06. > :11:13.this year. Scotland beat Denmark in the friendly match at Hampden

:11:14. > :11:18.tonight. Matt Ritchie took advantage and hit what proved to be the only

:11:19. > :11:26.goal of the game. And now for the weather.

:11:27. > :11:31.Fairly frequent showers across the country today with the odd rumble of

:11:32. > :11:36.thunder and a carpet Hill which led to a few issues on the roads. You

:11:37. > :11:43.can see on the radar a lot of them easing away but they do not go

:11:44. > :11:45.entirely. Dreyer across the north-east societies of the country

:11:46. > :11:48.where we will see a touch of Frost and it will be a chilly start

:11:49. > :11:55.tomorrow. In the West we are more likely to see our morning shower or

:11:56. > :11:58.two. For many it is a dry start with some dry spells but for centrally

:11:59. > :12:01.store in Scotland it is a chilly start. Towards the west coast the

:12:02. > :12:07.shows are more frequent and just attach milder. Quite chilly through

:12:08. > :12:11.parts of Highland Perthshire and Inland Aberdeenshire with a touch of

:12:12. > :12:16.Frost them in the Glens. The showers frequent further north in similar to

:12:17. > :12:20.that the Hebrides and it stays that way through the course of the day.

:12:21. > :12:24.With fairly light wins the showers make slow progress on land so the

:12:25. > :12:28.further east you are drier and brighter it will be. Across the UK

:12:29. > :12:31.as a whole will be a lot of dry weather around the UK as a whole

:12:32. > :12:33.will be a lot of dry weather around with equally some show is

:12:34. > :12:36.particularly to the North of England and the Midlands and the south

:12:37. > :12:40.coast, for Wales generally dry and bright and if you get the sunshine

:12:41. > :12:45.11 degrees to 30 Celsius. For us in Scotland 10 degrees is probably the

:12:46. > :12:50.bill. Showers across the North and wintry at times. Come Thursday at

:12:51. > :12:54.ridge of high pressure try to build and bringing dry weather put over my

:12:55. > :12:58.shoulder and rain in the forecast. That is whether for Friday. On

:12:59. > :13:02.Thursday, though, a lot of dry and fine weather to come with plenty of

:13:03. > :13:04.sunshine around. Through the central lowlands and MacLeod and a shower

:13:05. > :13:13.risk with this for most of the day. risk with this for most of the day.

:13:14. > :13:18.-- it will be heavy and persistent for most of Scotland and the further

:13:19. > :13:25.east you are essential in eastern England will be dry. Our next update

:13:26. > :13:29.will be during breakfast at six .25 tomorrow morning. From everybody

:13:30. > :13:32.here good night.
