:00:00. > :00:00.we are back with the late news at 18 minutes past ten.

:00:00. > :00:08.Now on BBC1 it's time for the news where you are.

:00:09. > :00:11.The SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon is calling for "cast-iron

:00:12. > :00:14.assurances" from the UK Government on the future

:00:15. > :00:18.of Clyde shipbuilding after union leaders raised concerns.

:00:19. > :00:21.The Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson

:00:22. > :00:23.says the Defence Secretary has assured her there has been "no

:00:24. > :00:27.change" to the orders or timetable for new warships.

:00:28. > :00:37.Here's our political correspondent, Glenn Campbell.

:00:38. > :00:46.Having built the oil may be's new destroyers and aircraft carriers,

:00:47. > :00:51.the Government has orders for more frigates and five offshore patrol

:00:52. > :00:55.vessels. But union leaders are worried that the flow of work on

:00:56. > :01:04.these vessels would be fast enough to prevent job losses. -- will not

:01:05. > :01:08.be fast enough. On the Clyde, the First Minister demanded assurances

:01:09. > :01:12.from the UK Government. If you are working there, what you want to know

:01:13. > :01:16.is that your job is secure, so the Government has a responsibility to

:01:17. > :01:20.give cast iron assurances here. Remember, these are not concerned is

:01:21. > :01:23.coming from the SNP or any political party, these are coming directly

:01:24. > :01:32.from people who work within the shipyards. The cost is Conservative

:01:33. > :01:36.leader says she has spoken to the Defence Secretary. There has been no

:01:37. > :01:41.change to the orders set out in the strategic defence and Security

:01:42. > :01:44.review in November last year, which means all anti-submarine frigates

:01:45. > :01:48.are coming, post the light order on top of that and the to offshore

:01:49. > :01:52.patrol vehicles. They are coming to the Clyde as discussed last year,

:01:53. > :01:56.but to the same timetable and number. In the defence review, the

:01:57. > :02:01.Government reduced the number frigates it wants from 13 eight. But

:02:02. > :02:08.it ordered an extra two offshore patrol vessels. The systems which

:02:09. > :02:11.operate the to Glasgow shipyards say they are negotiating a production

:02:12. > :02:17.schedule for these. The question is, whether or not at work will be

:02:18. > :02:22.enough to tide over the Clyde yards until work on the frigates begins.

:02:23. > :02:27.On social media, the Labour leader said the Tories must keep promises

:02:28. > :02:31.made on shipbuilding. This prompted the SNP leader to reply that there

:02:32. > :02:36.were Labour promises to made during the independence referendum. I was

:02:37. > :02:40.there speaking to the unions and management last week, making the

:02:41. > :02:48.case for why we need to make sure the offshore vessels will be

:02:49. > :02:55.protector. It it is to my date -- deep regret they didn't win as the

:02:56. > :02:59.Tories must fulfil their promises. In Edinburgh, multipart support for

:03:00. > :03:02.a bike ride promoting greener transport for which the Lib Dem

:03:03. > :03:07.leader took time out to warn against any backpedalling on shipbuilding

:03:08. > :03:11.promises. This raised serious concerns about the future of orders

:03:12. > :03:14.at the yard and it is important the Conservative Government gives an

:03:15. > :03:18.absolute commitment. We need to end this feast and famine of orders for

:03:19. > :03:23.the yards and give a commitment to maintain the workforce. Once again,

:03:24. > :03:26.the future of Clyde shipbuilding has become an election issue.

:03:27. > :03:29.A fresh appeal for information has been issued about the disappearance

:03:30. > :03:31.of a toddler in North Ayrshire 40 years ago.

:03:32. > :03:35.Three-year-old Sandy Davidson went missing from his

:03:36. > :03:38.The police have issued a computer-generated image showing

:03:39. > :03:46.how Sandy might look if he's still alive.

:03:47. > :03:47.Football now, and Rangers were presented with the

:03:48. > :03:51.Championship trophy after today's match at Ibrox, against Alloa.

:03:52. > :03:57.The champions were held to a 1-1 draw by the bottom side.

:03:58. > :03:59.It's over to Judith now with the weather forecast

:04:00. > :04:11.We did see some wintry showers today, if you take a look at this

:04:12. > :04:14.picture there were snow from parts of the Grampian area and Highlands.

:04:15. > :04:18.Still if you showers this evening, they will gradually die away and

:04:19. > :04:24.there may even be some sunshine, particularly in the West. A band of

:04:25. > :04:28.rain moves into night, turning to sleet or slow -- is no further east,

:04:29. > :04:32.but it is clear leaving a dry night. Temperatures dropping quickly this

:04:33. > :04:37.evening, there will be a touch of frost, down to around freezing

:04:38. > :04:41.toward the north-east in particular by tomorrow morning. Any rain and

:04:42. > :04:45.snow clearing away quickly from the south and brightening up with

:04:46. > :04:50.brighter, sunny spells, predominantly dry, give or take the

:04:51. > :04:53.odd shower, although a few wintry showers in Shetland and it does feel

:04:54. > :04:54.on the cold side. That is your forecast.

:04:55. > :04:59.And don't forget Sunday Politics Scotland tomorrow

:05:00. > :05:05.From all of us here, have a good evening.

:05:06. > :05:13.globe. This week, could Libya become the next Bastian for IS? The new

:05:14. > :05:19.It has been quite a nice day for the beginning of March. The trouble is,

:05:20. > :05:20.it is
