:00:09. > :00:12.Police in Glasgow are investigating whether carbon monoxide might be
:00:13. > :00:17.Their bodies were found at a flat in the city's east end.
:00:18. > :00:23.The police arrived at the ground floor flat
:00:24. > :00:26.here in Glasgow's Gallowgate area about midday.
:00:27. > :00:31.They got into the property and found the bodies of the two women.
:00:32. > :00:34.The police say the cause of their deaths is not yet known
:00:35. > :00:37.but there doesn't appear to be suspicious circumstances.
:00:38. > :00:40.One theory is that the women died of carbon monoxide poisoning
:00:41. > :00:42.and gas engineers have been here all afternoon.
:00:43. > :00:46.A number of neighbouring plots have also been evacuated.
:00:47. > :00:48.Carbon monoxide is an odourless gas that can be produced
:00:49. > :00:53.when gas appliances aren't working properly.
:00:54. > :00:58.The police say their investigations are continuing.
:00:59. > :01:01.Investigations will be carried out to find out the precise cause
:01:02. > :01:11.The SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon says she's "almost certain"
:01:12. > :01:13.there would be a second independence referendum if the UK votes to leave
:01:14. > :01:20.Meanwhile, most of her rivals in the Holyrood election campaign
:01:21. > :01:21.remain firmly opposed to revisiting Scotland's relationship
:01:22. > :01:35.Here's our political correspondent, Glenn Campbell.
:01:36. > :01:42.For the first time in a Holyrood election, the SNP manifesto does not
:01:43. > :01:49.include a firm commitment to hold an independence referendum. But Nicola
:01:50. > :01:52.Sturgeon leaves open the possibility, in certain
:01:53. > :01:56.circumstances, as she set out in a BBC interview. If we are taken out
:01:57. > :02:00.of the EU against our will live or want to give the people of Scotland
:02:01. > :02:03.an opportunity to protect EU membership by looking at
:02:04. > :02:07.independence again. So would you have a referendum? I would judge the
:02:08. > :02:12.circumstances of that at the time the situation arises. Nicola
:02:13. > :02:15.Sturgeon is reserving the right to call another independence referendum
:02:16. > :02:19.if she moraines First Minister. During the course of the election
:02:20. > :02:23.campaign, the Labour leader, has been quoted as saying that it wasn't
:02:24. > :02:26.inconceivable she could back independence in the UK voted to
:02:27. > :02:32.leave the European Union and Scotland wanted to stay in. But on
:02:33. > :02:36.the Sunday politics today, the Labour leader made clear she would
:02:37. > :02:42.not support another referendum, never mind vote for independence. In
:02:43. > :02:45.every scenario I would vote no again because I believe the economic case
:02:46. > :02:51.for independence has fallen apart. I think the best way is to pull the
:02:52. > :02:57.resources of Scotland and the UK together. The Conservative leader
:02:58. > :02:59.thinks the SNP would have no right to demand a referendum rematch if
:03:00. > :03:03.thinks the SNP would have no right they remain in power. There is no
:03:04. > :03:07.mandate for a second referendum, it's not in the manifesto. And it
:03:08. > :03:11.would not have been a trigger for it. I don't believe there will be
:03:12. > :03:14.enacted, so I stand with the majority of people in Scotland and
:03:15. > :03:18.save a decision we made to remain part of the UK. On the same
:03:19. > :03:21.programme, the Liberal Democrat leader said talk of a second
:03:22. > :03:26.referendum was depressing. People said very clearly that they wanted
:03:27. > :03:28.to stay in the UK. The SNP said they would respect the result that they
:03:29. > :03:32.to stay in the UK. The SNP said they are planning a new referendum
:03:33. > :03:36.campaign after the summer. The Scottish Green party said a 1
:03:37. > :03:41.million signature petition is a possible route to another vote on
:03:42. > :03:45.independence. I think setting an arbitrary date now for a second
:03:46. > :03:47.independence referendum would be a mistake and we should only have that
:03:48. > :03:52.referendum when the people of Scotland are ready for it. There is
:03:53. > :03:58.a range of ways of engaging that. Smaller Socialist party is, such as
:03:59. > :04:01.Rise, go into the election demanding a referendum rerun as soon as
:04:02. > :04:05.possible and reject the SNP caution and its earlier talk of independence
:04:06. > :04:07.as a one -- once in a generation question.
:04:08. > :04:09.At the London Marathon, Callum Hawkins has qualified
:04:10. > :04:11.for this summer's Rio Olympics after finishing eighth

:04:47. > :04:48.Let's get the weather forecast for this evening
:04:49. > :05:02.For many of us, dry day with us bit of sunshine and a lovely sunset sent
:05:03. > :05:05.by one of the weather watchers from Edinburgh. Tonight, dry with clear
:05:06. > :05:10.spells in the main body of the country and we will see wintry
:05:11. > :05:14.showers feeding in and it is a sign of things to come. Over the next
:05:15. > :05:18.couple of days we are seeing arctic air feeding in the UK and into
:05:19. > :05:22.northern Europe as well with brisk, cold northerly winds. You will
:05:23. > :05:26.really feel the difference. Tomorrow it's initially dry for the country,
:05:27. > :05:31.spells of sunshine and maybe the showers feeding across northern
:05:32. > :05:35.areas and they will become increasingly wintry. Gaels will
:05:36. > :05:40.develop across the Northern Isles and towards the coast and we will
:05:41. > :05:43.have cold and wintry weather here, with air feeding in across the
:05:44. > :05:46.Northeast and in towards the rest of eastern Scotland as we had through
:05:47. > :05:53.the day with Gaels developing across the East Coast. A lot of dry weather
:05:54. > :05:56.for the West with bright sunny spells, and actually it is that same
:05:57. > :06:00.pattern we will see over the rest of the UK with Northern Ireland dry,
:06:01. > :06:03.north-west England seeing a few showers but into Wales in the
:06:04. > :06:08.south-west, dry and sunny spells by a hefty showers across more eastern
:06:09. > :06:11.parts with brisk winds across the East Coast. Look at the
:06:12. > :06:16.temperatures, eight Celsius, maybe nine at best and the showers may be
:06:17. > :06:19.more frequent across northern areas through tomorrow night with possibly
:06:20. > :06:20.even snow at lower levels and it stays windy. That's the forecast.
:06:21. > :06:24.Our next update is at 6.25 tomorrow morning.
:06:25. > :06:27.Until then, from everyone on the weekend team, enjoy what's
:06:28. > :06:41.Er, good looking, good sense of humour, smells nice.
