:00:08. > :00:10.A senior school in Stirlingshire has been partly closed

:00:11. > :00:15.Stirling Council says parents and pupils at Balfron High have been

:00:16. > :00:21.told the school will be shut for S1 to S3 pupils next week.

:00:22. > :00:24.Older pupils will have to sit their exams in other

:00:25. > :00:27.parts of the building, which was constructed 15 years ago

:00:28. > :00:37.using public private funding. Morag Kinniburgh reports.

:00:38. > :00:43.The scaffolding is up at Balfron High. A wall came down here in the

:00:44. > :00:47.winter storms. No one was hurt. Further inspections found concerns

:00:48. > :00:51.with the atrium, stairwell and gym. Stirling Council says repairs are

:00:52. > :00:55.needed, so the school and leisure centre are partly closed. Those

:00:56. > :00:59.sitting exams can use an affected part of the building, but there will

:01:00. > :01:02.be no room here for younger pupils next week. The headteacher has

:01:03. > :01:12.apologised for the disruption. Stirling Council said: The high

:01:13. > :01:15.school closing here in Balfron will have an impact on a wide catchment

:01:16. > :01:20.area. 440 senior one, two and three pupils

:01:21. > :01:22.will have no school next week, and plans are being put together for

:01:23. > :01:29.alternative seating arrangements beyond then if needed. There are

:01:30. > :01:35.many concerns locally. I think my relatives are still going

:01:36. > :01:40.in to sit exams, but I don't know if they'll be workmen or noise.

:01:41. > :01:42.There were problems with it from the start, doors falling off, things not

:01:43. > :01:46.fitting. I think it is pretty rubbish,

:01:47. > :01:50.actually. They are better off being safe than sorry.

:01:51. > :01:51.Balfron High was built using a public-private funding model,

:01:52. > :01:55.similar to those in the Edinburgh public-private funding model,

:01:56. > :01:56.crisis. Stirling Council says no other schools in its area are

:01:57. > :01:58.affected. The SNP leader has insisted

:01:59. > :02:00.she has the backing of a sufficient number of voters

:02:01. > :02:03.to implement her manifesto. Nicola Sturgeon has also

:02:04. > :02:07.offered to find common The conservatives, who are now

:02:08. > :02:11.the main opposition, say they won't let the SNP ride

:02:12. > :02:14."roughshod" over the parliament. Here's our political

:02:15. > :02:29.correspondent, Andrew Kerr. In the shadow of the kelpie is, the

:02:30. > :02:34.SNP group met. All 63 of them, but too short of a majority. An historic

:02:35. > :02:38.victory, particularly in a proportional system. Common ground

:02:39. > :02:43.would be sought, but... We have a clear and unequivocal

:02:44. > :02:47.mandate to implement the manifesto that we fought and won this election

:02:48. > :02:52.on. However, there are crunch issues

:02:53. > :02:56.where the SNP might struggle. Criticism from the left on the

:02:57. > :03:01.income tax plans, the Greens will push for a fracking Bang, and there

:03:02. > :03:06.is opposition to planned cuts in Air Passenger Duty, and the Named Person

:03:07. > :03:10.legislation, people appointed to monitor children's welfare. They may

:03:11. > :03:13.not have a majority, but the SNP are still defiant.

:03:14. > :03:17.Nicola Sturgeon says she will implement a manifesto, and will not

:03:18. > :03:21.let the other parties stand on the way. But the Conservatives, after

:03:22. > :03:23.more than doubling their tally and Ruth Davidson, are preparing for a

:03:24. > :03:31.muscular opposition. She does not have the mandate to try

:03:32. > :03:33.to run roughshod over the Scottish Parliament in the way that the

:03:34. > :03:36.Nationalists did in the last Parliament with an overall majority.

:03:37. > :03:38.This will be a very different five years of Scottish politics.

:03:39. > :03:41.Labour, bumped down to third place, also said today they want to be a

:03:42. > :03:44.positive and effective opposition. But when horse trading begins, there

:03:45. > :03:45.is only one person in a dominant position.

:03:46. > :03:48.Andy Murray is through to the final of the Madrid Open,

:03:49. > :03:52.The Scot won the tournament last year, and lobbed Nadal

:03:53. > :03:56.Nadal has been called the King of the Clay court,

:03:57. > :03:59.but Murray's victory came in straight sets.

:04:00. > :04:02.He'll contest tomorrow's final against either

:04:03. > :04:08.In Rugby, Glasgow Warriors missed the chance to clinch top spot

:04:09. > :04:13.They lost 14-7 against Connacht in Galway.

:04:14. > :04:16.When Puafisi was sent off, it made Glasgow's effort to get

:04:17. > :04:21.a tenth win in a row much more difficult.

:04:22. > :04:24.Football, and there were four matches in the Premiership today.

:04:25. > :04:27.The results mean Hamilton and Partick pull further away

:04:28. > :04:34.And Hibs' 2-0 win against Raith Rovers means they'll play

:04:35. > :04:37.Falkirk in the semifinal of the Premiership playoffs.

:04:38. > :04:39.It's over to Christopher now with the weather forecast

:04:40. > :04:50.Thank you. It has been the warmest day of the year so far down south,

:04:51. > :04:54.and that has sparked a fuse thundery downpours, which could come our way

:04:55. > :04:58.later. For many today, it has been fairly cloudy, hazy sunshine, and

:04:59. > :05:02.patchy rain in the forecast this evening. Here is the chart, with

:05:03. > :05:05.brain working its way up the West hand side. In the early hours,

:05:06. > :05:10.thunderstorms give a glancing blow across the south-west, but should

:05:11. > :05:15.not last too long. So Mr Mellor ping around North Sea coast, and this is

:05:16. > :05:18.how we start things tomorrow. One to light showers, certainly some

:05:19. > :05:22.sunshine by lunchtime, as we will see right across the UK, and

:05:23. > :05:25.certainly down south, warm if not hot, with temperatures in the

:05:26. > :05:29.mid-20s. More cloud for Northern Ireland, and certainly for us, we

:05:30. > :05:33.will seize on very pleasant conditions indeed. Let's take a

:05:34. > :05:37.closer look at mid-afternoon. In the West, temperatures into the low 20s,

:05:38. > :05:39.perhaps sparking one to heavy downpours, but there will be hit and

:05:40. > :05:44.miss and most people will escape them. Further east, a little cooler,

:05:45. > :05:49.and Chile at times, with a sea breeze at times. In the US, where we

:05:50. > :05:56.have a high temperatures, shower cloud building at times. -- in the

:05:57. > :05:59.West. Plenty of sunshine into the evening, perfect barbecue weather.

:06:00. > :06:03.Looking ahead to next week, Monday, we do it all again. Plenty of

:06:04. > :06:09.sunshine, dry, fine, bright and warm. If anything, temperatures up a

:06:10. > :06:14.notch in the West, 23-24 in some spots. Cooler further east, and

:06:15. > :06:17.cooler still right in the east coast. Tuesday, down south, it is

:06:18. > :06:24.their turn to have some fairly unsettled conditions, with this

:06:25. > :06:25.weather from producing wet weather, but further north, for us, dry, fine

:06:26. > :06:26.weather from producing wet weather, and bright, and temperatures again

:06:27. > :06:27.in the low 20s. Thanks, Chris.

:06:28. > :06:29.And that's Reporting Scotland. Our next update is tomorrow

:06:30. > :06:31.evening at 5:50. Until then, from everyone

:06:32. > :06:34.on the team, enjoy the rest
