:00:15. > :00:18.Some posts offshore and at its plants at Mossmorran

:00:19. > :00:20.in Fife and St Fergus in Aberdeenshire will

:00:21. > :00:35.Shell says the decision is because of restructuring following the

:00:36. > :00:41.merger of the BG Group and the continued problems caused by the low

:00:42. > :00:46.oil price. Staff at its headquarters in Aberdeen where informed this

:00:47. > :00:51.morning. 475 jobs will go. Most of them are in that building. A number

:00:52. > :00:58.of jobs around 40 will go offshore and there will be some job losses at

:00:59. > :01:04.Shell's plans at Mossmorran in Fife. And at St Fergus on the

:01:05. > :01:09.Aberdeenshire coast. 12,500 boys will be lost by the end of this

:01:10. > :01:11.year. The man in charge of running shell and the UK says it is part of

:01:12. > :01:14.an improvement journey. The engagement we had has been

:01:15. > :01:16.outstanding from employees, the support in terms of driving

:01:17. > :01:19.efficiency in the North Sea over Do you think the people

:01:20. > :01:25.who are being made redundant Clearly there is uncertainty

:01:26. > :01:28.for people and we will try to minimise that period

:01:29. > :01:30.until we make the selection of the UK and Scottish Government

:01:31. > :01:57.offered help to those who will be made redundant

:01:58. > :01:59.as well as reiterating help The unions, the offshore unions,

:02:00. > :02:04.are calling for a summit to be held because there is a feeling that

:02:05. > :02:08.in spite of the task forces that had been set up, the funding being put

:02:09. > :02:11.in place, it is not doing anything The First Minister,

:02:12. > :02:18.Nicola Sturgeon, is to convene She told the Scottish Parliament

:02:19. > :02:22.improving education would be the "defining mission"

:02:23. > :02:23.of her government. From Holyrood, here's our political

:02:24. > :02:28.correspondent, Glenn Campbell. With the new Eduction Secretary

:02:29. > :02:31.by her side, Nicola Strugeon arrives to set out the priorities

:02:32. > :02:34.of the SNP's third term in power. The defining mission of this

:02:35. > :02:36.government will be education. That is because we want every child

:02:37. > :02:40.to have a fair chance in life and we know that a good education

:02:41. > :02:44.is the foundation of that. She is promising standardised

:02:45. > :02:46.assessment of pupils And a summit on school reform

:02:47. > :02:53.and improving attainment, with invitations

:02:54. > :02:59.to all party leaders. I want our work to close

:03:00. > :03:02.the attainment gap to be the mission not just of this government

:03:03. > :03:05.or even of this Parliament The Conservatives back plans to give

:03:06. > :03:14.schools more local control, but oppose the SNP's commitment

:03:15. > :03:20.to keeping university tuition free. Education should be the best way

:03:21. > :03:24.to change lives for the better, but the SNP's middle-class giveaways

:03:25. > :03:27.means that those who have most to gain from life-changing chances

:03:28. > :03:30.are those that have been most harmed Labour wants the Government to raise

:03:31. > :03:36.more cash for schools SNP members sit on the Government

:03:37. > :03:43.benches in this Parliament with the power to act,

:03:44. > :03:45.the power to stop the cuts, Plans to bring back testing

:03:46. > :03:54.in primary and the early years On educational attainment,

:03:55. > :03:59.I think all parties have recognised But the case for standardised

:04:00. > :04:05.testing, I do not think, has been fully made,

:04:06. > :04:08.and we will continue to question The Education Secretary John Swinney

:04:09. > :04:14.is to publish a draft delivery Consultations, summits,

:04:15. > :04:22.anything but action to make a change Other Government priorities include

:04:23. > :04:32.building 50,000 affordable homes. Recruiting 500 extra health

:04:33. > :04:34.visitors. And doubling free childcare for

:04:35. > :04:39.three-year-olds and four-year-olds. Nicola Sturgeon has also drawn

:04:40. > :04:43.inspiration from the Labour, Green and Liberal Democrat

:04:44. > :04:46.manifestoes because having fallen short of an overall majority

:04:47. > :04:48.in parliament, she knows that she needs a little help

:04:49. > :04:51.from her political rivals Glenn Campbell, Reporting Scotland,

:04:52. > :04:57.Holyrood. The lawyer for one of the women

:04:58. > :05:00.accused of murdering two-year-old Liam Fee has told a jury Nyomi Fee

:05:01. > :05:03.was guilty of a catastrophic failure of care towards the toddler,

:05:04. > :05:07.but he said she did not murder him. Nyomi Fee can be seen

:05:08. > :05:17.here on the right. Her lawyer said she had accepted

:05:18. > :05:20.she made some terrible mistakes in her treatment of Liam

:05:21. > :05:23.and that she and her partner Rachel He said this was a terrible case and

:05:24. > :05:27.had been distressing and harrowing. Mark Stewart said Nyomi Fee admitted

:05:28. > :05:31.failing to get help for Liam when she suspected he had

:05:32. > :05:34.a broken leg. He said it was dreadful

:05:35. > :05:37.and unforgivable, a catastrophic failure of care but he said that

:05:38. > :05:40.Liam did not die of a broken leg and there was no evidence suggesting

:05:41. > :05:44.Nyomi Fee had inflicted the fatal Mark Stewart talked at length

:05:45. > :05:50.about another boy whom Nyomi and Rachel Fee are accused

:05:51. > :05:55.of falsely blaming for Liam's death. He said the unpalatable truth

:05:56. > :05:58.was that this boy had killed Liam. He suggested the child had sexually

:05:59. > :06:01.assaulted him and that he had a motive violent and had admitted

:06:02. > :06:05.violent conduct towards the toddler. Mr Stewart said it was in trying

:06:06. > :06:11.to deal with the behaviour of this child that the couple took a wrong

:06:12. > :06:14.turn that led them The court once again heard the 999

:06:15. > :06:18.call made by Nyomi Fee Both accused cried in the dock

:06:19. > :06:22.as the operator was heard to talk Nyomi through on how to perform

:06:23. > :06:25.CPR on Liam. Mr Stewart asked the jury

:06:26. > :06:27.to consider whether this was stage-managed for effect

:06:28. > :06:29.or whether this was the genuine response of someone

:06:30. > :06:34.trying to save a child. He said to the jury of Nyomi Fee,

:06:35. > :06:37."You don't have to approve of her, sympathise with her or like her,"

:06:38. > :06:40.but he said they must acquit her of assaulting

:06:41. > :06:43.and murdering Liam because the Crown Rachel Fee's lawyer will give his

:06:44. > :06:50.closing speech to the jury tomorrow. Both accused deny murdering Liam

:06:51. > :06:52.and abusing two other children. Lisa Summers, Reporting Scotland

:06:53. > :06:59.at the High Court in Livingston. A woman has appeared in court

:07:00. > :07:01.charged with murdering Sadia Ahmed is accused of killing

:07:02. > :07:05.Inayah Ahmed at her home in Glasgow's Drumchapel area

:07:06. > :07:07.on the 17th of April. The 26-year-old is accused

:07:08. > :07:09.of "restricting her breathing". The child died three

:07:10. > :07:11.days later in hospital. Miss Ahmed appeared in private

:07:12. > :07:13.at Glasgow Sheriff Court, where she made no plea or declaration,

:07:14. > :07:23.and was remanded in custody. Sales of alcohol in Scotland have

:07:24. > :07:26.increased for the second year On average, enough alcohol is sold

:07:27. > :07:31.for every adult to drink 41 bottles of vodka a year,

:07:32. > :07:33.or almost 500 pints of beer. Our health correspondent

:07:34. > :07:40.Eleanor Bradford reports. The best measure of how much

:07:41. > :07:42.we really drink is the amount And it is on the rise after almost

:07:43. > :07:47.a decade of decline. Last year the equivalent of 11

:07:48. > :07:50.litres of pure alcohol was sold That is the same as 41 bottles

:07:51. > :07:54.of vodka each or 116 Enough for every one of us to exceed

:07:55. > :08:08.safe drinking limits every week. What we have found today is more

:08:09. > :08:11.alcohol is being sold through supermarkets

:08:12. > :08:14.and off-licences and the levels have reached their highest

:08:15. > :08:19.since 1994 when records began. This coincides with a flattening

:08:20. > :08:22.of the price of alcohol sold We know that price is a key driver

:08:23. > :08:27.of consumption, so we think both As prices in bars and restaurants

:08:28. > :08:30.keep on rising, more of us Cocktails or Prosecco at

:08:31. > :08:39.home. That is it. If you are going on a night out,

:08:40. > :08:43.we tend to drink in the house and go I think we spend more money drinking

:08:44. > :08:48.at home and then going out, instead of buying

:08:49. > :08:50.drinks when we go out. We've just come from a champagne

:08:51. > :09:00.afternoon tea, that is the irony! we had a few glasses, but that was

:09:01. > :09:05.it. It is the cheapest drinks

:09:06. > :09:08.which are drunk to harmful levels and the Scottish Government says

:09:09. > :09:10.imposing a minimum price on alcohol But the whiskey industry

:09:11. > :09:22.are still opposed to that. Whether a year or two of data

:09:23. > :09:27.constitutes a trend, we will wait Drinking habits are closely linked

:09:28. > :09:31.to the economy, we drink more when we have more

:09:32. > :09:33.money in our pockets. Whether minimum pricing would break

:09:34. > :09:39.that cycle is still hotly debated. A man who ran towards the Rangers

:09:40. > :09:42.goalkeeper after the Scottish Cup final against Hibs at the weekend

:09:43. > :09:45.has pleaded guilty to a charge under the Offensive

:09:46. > :09:46.Behaviour At Football Act. The court heard you're deeply

:09:47. > :10:01.ashamed, is that the case? Leaving Glasgow Sheriff Court today

:10:02. > :10:08.Greg Brinee made no comment. But on Saturday after the final

:10:09. > :10:10.whistle at the Scottish Cup final, Today he pled guilty to climbing

:10:11. > :10:17.over fencing onto the pitch, running towards the Rangers

:10:18. > :10:19.goalkeeper and gesticulating The court was told that he was

:10:20. > :10:29.deeply ashamed and threats had The sheriff told Binney

:10:30. > :10:32.he was being convicted under the offensive behaviour

:10:33. > :10:44.at football act. And that sentence would be deferred

:10:45. > :10:46.until a background report had been done.

:10:47. > :10:48.He said he would consider the request from the ground

:10:49. > :11:01.Meanwhile, in another court room, another

:11:02. > :11:03.19-year-old appeared on charges also related to the pitch

:11:04. > :11:11.19-year-old Dale Pryde from Edinburgh is accused of running

:11:12. > :11:18.towards and attempting to punch the Rangers players,

:11:19. > :11:20.Lee Wallace and Jason Holt and running onto the pitch

:11:21. > :11:22.towards Rangers supporters, brandishing a chair.

:11:23. > :11:24.He was released on bail and will appear back

:11:25. > :11:29.Let's get the latest weather forecast now, with Kirsteen.

:11:30. > :11:37.Another lovely day of whether for many of us. This was the scene in

:11:38. > :11:42.the Highlands, sent in by one of our Weather Watchers. It looked like

:11:43. > :11:46.paradise. Tonight we hold on to the dry conditions for the North.

:11:47. > :11:51.Further South, we will have some outbreaks of rain. Tomorrow, it

:11:52. > :11:54.begins on a cloudy note across much of Scotland away from the far North

:11:55. > :11:56.West. There is a closer look at proceedings are around eight o'clock

:11:57. > :12:00.tomorrow morning. Cloudy skies with proceedings are around eight o'clock

:12:01. > :12:03.outbreaks of rain across Southern and Central Scotland. A cloudy with

:12:04. > :12:09.two things across much of the North East. Two parts of Adele and on

:12:10. > :12:12.towards the North West Highlands, the Isle of Skye and the Western

:12:13. > :12:17.Isles, here we will see the best of the brightness and sunshine tomorrow

:12:18. > :12:20.morning with temperatures around nine or 10 Celsius. Looking at the

:12:21. > :12:24.UK as a whole, as we go through tomorrow, a fairly cloudy prospect

:12:25. > :12:28.that sunlight and bite our picks of rain across Northern Ireland,

:12:29. > :12:32.central and Southern Scotland, Edwards on here too, as well as the

:12:33. > :12:37.North of England. To the North and South of these areas, a good deal of

:12:38. > :12:41.dry and bright weather with plenty of sunshine around. Temperatures

:12:42. > :12:45.peaking at 19 degrees or 21 degrees in the far South of England and the

:12:46. > :12:49.far North of -- North West of England. Cooler towards the East and

:12:50. > :12:55.coastal areas with the North Sea breeze. Tomorrow morning, dry and

:12:56. > :13:00.bright conditions for the North of Scotland. For central and Southern

:13:01. > :13:03.areas, it is a cloudy prospect with father are pics of mainly light and

:13:04. > :13:10.patchy rain. Friday, people hold onto that brain for a time in the

:13:11. > :13:14.morning. Gradually it dies out. A good deal of dry and bright weather

:13:15. > :13:18.to come across the UK, plenty of sunshine, although some heavy and on

:13:19. > :13:20.the ray showers develop for the West Midlands, the South West and Wales.

:13:21. > :13:23.Highs of 19 or 20 Celsius. Our next update is during Breakfast

:13:24. > :13:27.at 6:25am tomorrow morning. But, from everyone on the late team

:13:28. > :13:31.here in Glasgow and around
