:00:18. > :00:23.the First Minister dismisses a claim by the Leave campaign that Scotland

:00:24. > :00:27.could have a say on immigration policy after Brexit.

:00:31. > :00:47.shooting in Florida with a city centre vigil.

:00:48. > :00:53.The Education Secretary John Swinney has been visiting Aberdeen -

:00:54. > :00:56.as the local authority warns it may have to shut schools

:00:57. > :01:03.Aberdeen City Council says the number of vacant

:01:04. > :01:06.teaching posts has doubled in the past 12 months.

:01:08. > :01:27.The start of construction on a new school for Aberdeen. A ?40 million

:01:28. > :01:33.investment in education infrastructure. The problem is in

:01:34. > :01:39.schools, its teachers. The City Council has 134 vacancies and it has

:01:40. > :01:44.warned that some schools may have to close. We didn't think we were going

:01:45. > :01:50.to be able to intake our pupils at one school. Thankfully, we have

:01:51. > :01:56.mitigated that. If it continues, we will have to close schools classes.

:01:57. > :02:01.The downturn in the oil and gas sector is proving to be a curse and

:02:02. > :02:06.a blessing for this issue. A curse because people who are losing jobs

:02:07. > :02:10.are moving away and taking with them their partners, many of whom are

:02:11. > :02:15.teachers. It is also a blessing because there is a pool of people

:02:16. > :02:18.who can be retrained as teachers, according to the Scottish

:02:19. > :02:24.Government. The Education Secretary addressed teachers with a pledge to

:02:25. > :02:29.retrain redundant oil and gas workers as teachers. He said it was

:02:30. > :02:36.ultimately a matter for local councils. They have to work out

:02:37. > :02:40.their individual resources to stuff councils. They have to work out

:02:41. > :02:49.their schools. Of course, they have to work with the government. The

:02:50. > :02:53.Scottish Government has been accused of doing little to help.

:02:54. > :02:56.Judo medallist Stephanie Inglis has arrived back in Scotland

:02:57. > :02:58.to continue her recovery, after a motorbike

:02:59. > :03:03.Stephanie was left in a coma, after the crash last month -

:03:04. > :03:06.and doctors gave her just a one percent chance of survival.

:03:07. > :03:09.She's being treated at a specialist unit in Edinburgh's Western General

:03:10. > :03:13.hospital, and her condition is said to be stable.

:03:14. > :03:16.Senior figures in the offshore oil and gas industry have called

:03:17. > :03:20.for radical and urgent changes to prevent rapid decline.

:03:21. > :03:23.They say there are just two years in which to secure

:03:24. > :03:29.A report by PwC includes a proposal for a "super-joint-venture"

:03:30. > :03:34.It would mean companies sharing profits at times,

:03:35. > :03:40.and co-ordinating their work in smaller oil and gas fields.

:03:41. > :03:42.The Conservative cabinet minister, Michael Gove,

:03:43. > :03:45.has claimed a UK exit from the European Union

:03:46. > :03:47.could lead to Holyrood having a say over immigration.

:03:48. > :03:50.But the first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has accused

:03:51. > :03:56.Here's our political correspondent, Glenn Campbell.

:03:57. > :04:03.The EU has a big say over fishing and farming and leave campaigners

:04:04. > :04:07.like Michael Gove argue a UK exit from the EU would bring these powers

:04:08. > :04:14.Today, Mr Gove went further, suggesting Brexit could give

:04:15. > :04:19.the Scottish Government more influence over immigration.

:04:20. > :04:25.It seems to be unfair you have an immigration policy

:04:26. > :04:31.If we left the EU, we could have a fair immigration policy

:04:32. > :04:33.and it could be shaped in the needs of Scotland's economy

:04:34. > :04:46.Immigration policy for the whole of the UK, including Scotland,

:04:47. > :04:49.is decided by the Home Office, and that wouldn't change if the UK

:04:50. > :04:57.But what Leave campaigners are suggesting is that

:04:58. > :04:59.in those circumstances, the Scottish Government

:05:00. > :05:02.could successfully negotiate with the UK Government to have some

:05:03. > :05:11.flexibility over who can and can't come and live in Scotland.

:05:12. > :05:17.Trying out new technology in Glasgow, the First Minister

:05:18. > :05:19.accused the Leave campaign of inventing their own reality

:05:20. > :05:29.Scotland doesn't get any power unless it has

:05:30. > :05:38.an agreement on the part of the UK government to devolve

:05:39. > :05:41.It doesn't happen because we don't to the EU.

:05:42. > :05:43.That is just an example and illustration of the fundamental

:05:44. > :05:52.dishonesty that lies at the heart of the leave campaign.

:05:53. > :05:54.Nicola Sturgeon would dearly like Scottish flexibility

:05:55. > :05:56.on immigration, but the UK Government, in which Michael Gove

:05:57. > :06:01.SNP ministers aren't convinced Brexit would change that.

:06:02. > :06:05.A deaf woman has gone missing after a night out in Glasgow.

:06:06. > :06:08.Kirsty Aitchison, a mother-of four from Robroyston,

:06:09. > :06:14.was last seen leaving the Campus bar in Sauchiehall Street at about three

:06:15. > :06:18.It's understood she was involved in an argument with someone

:06:19. > :06:23.She was wearing a black top, cream skirt and black sandals.

:06:24. > :06:25.The Scottish Government has set out plans to widen access

:06:26. > :06:29.Couples who have children from a previous relationship,

:06:30. > :06:32.will be able to have fertility treatment for the first time.

:06:33. > :06:35.The number of cycles women undergo will also be increased

:06:36. > :06:37.from two to three - to increase their

:06:38. > :06:42.Public Health Minister Aileen Campbell said the changes would make

:06:43. > :06:55.IVF access in Scotland the fairest across the UK.

:06:56. > :06:58.At least 600 people have gathered at George Square in Glasgow

:06:59. > :07:01.for a vigil in memory of the 49 people killed in a shooting

:07:02. > :07:06.People left floral tributes and lit candles, and a piper played

:07:07. > :07:09.The rainbow flag is flying a half mast on the city chambers.

:07:10. > :07:22.Members of the public, activists, civic leaders and sports teams

:07:23. > :07:27.gathered to stand in silence, light candles, and leave flags and

:07:28. > :07:33.flowers. A piper played laments and those who came reflected on why they

:07:34. > :07:37.wanted to be here. People go to gay bars and clubs around the city all

:07:38. > :07:41.the time and have a good time. All these people were trying to do was

:07:42. > :07:48.have a good time. Someone took offence to that and did what he did.

:07:49. > :07:52.A very sad time. It shows that we are all standing together and are

:07:53. > :07:58.not going to give in to fear or aged or anything like that. As the

:07:59. > :08:04.rainbow flag flies at half-mast from city Chambers, at least 600 people

:08:05. > :08:10.have gathered for a vigil in George Square, in memory of 49 people shot

:08:11. > :08:16.dead at a gay nightclub in Orlando in Florida. From some who shared the

:08:17. > :08:21.shooter's Afghan heritage, a keenness to distance themselves from

:08:22. > :08:26.what he did. These were innocent human beings who are out there to

:08:27. > :08:33.enjoy and have a good time. This brutal killer, the murderer, he was

:08:34. > :08:41.of Afghan origin and we are Afghans, we are here to show solidarity with

:08:42. > :08:48.gays, lesbians, transgender, whatever their grounds are.

:08:49. > :08:54.Organisers said today that today's event was designed to show support

:08:55. > :08:58.for LGBT people around the world and provide an opportunity to mourn with

:08:59. > :09:05.the community. A similar event takes place in Edinburgh on Wednesday.

:09:06. > :09:08.Plans have been unveiled to return the Stone of Destiny to Perth.

:09:09. > :09:11.The stone - on which Scotland's ancient kings were crowned -

:09:12. > :09:13.has been kept at Edinburgh Castle for the last twenty years.

:09:14. > :09:20.Before that, it spent almost seven centuries in Westminster Abbey

:09:21. > :09:26.in London - where it was taken by the English king, Edward I.

:09:27. > :09:28.The plan to display it in Perth would form part of

:09:29. > :09:30.a twenty million pound investment in the city's

:09:31. > :09:41.The cultural attractions of the city of Perth will be enormously enhanced

:09:42. > :09:46.by this. It'll be great for the local economy, it will bring in

:09:47. > :09:49.visitors from across world. The Scottish bias brew will be very

:09:50. > :09:52.interested in this and we hope to see them here to visit the stone.

:09:53. > :09:59.We look ahead to tomorrow's forecast, here's Andrew Kerr,

:10:00. > :10:05.We look ahead to tomorrow's announcement on climate change

:10:06. > :10:12.targets. And could Scotland really get a say in immigration policy if

:10:13. > :10:17.Britain left the EU. Boat Leave are suggesting that today. We will hear

:10:18. > :10:20.from them and their rivals. Let's get the latest weather

:10:21. > :10:31.forecast now - with Kirsteen. It's been a damp day across much of

:10:32. > :10:33.Scotland although we have seen some brightness. In the north-east and

:10:34. > :10:52.the Northern it's been a different story. A fair

:10:53. > :10:57.amount of crowd feeding into the north-east. Some mist and low cloud

:10:58. > :11:03.for eastern coastal areas. Perhaps into Central parts by the end of the

:11:04. > :11:09.night. Not a cold night. Perhaps a bit chilly for shelter drool parts.

:11:10. > :11:14.As we head into tomorrow, a dry, bright start across much of the

:11:15. > :11:17.North and west with fine spells of brightness and sunshine. In the

:11:18. > :11:21.east, rather cloudy from the word go. We will see some rain moving in

:11:22. > :11:30.from the Angus area. Haps reaching Inverness. A bit more throughout the

:11:31. > :11:42.course of the day with perhaps a fuchsia hours. -- view showers.

:11:43. > :11:46.Tomorrow it will certainly feel a bit chilly with brisk north-easterly

:11:47. > :11:51.wind. Forward Wednesday, a fair amount of cloud. Brisk winds for the

:11:52. > :11:54.coast. But the forecast.
