:00:09. > :00:12.Nurses in Scotland believe the NHS is in need of serious improvement.

:00:13. > :00:15.That's according to a survey by the Royal College of Nursing.

:00:16. > :00:17.It suggested nine out of 10 nurses to feel increased workload,

:00:18. > :00:21.financial pressures and a rising number of patients were impacting

:00:22. > :00:27.The Scottish Government said they're investing record levels of money

:00:28. > :00:42.1000 nurses took part in the survey. One third said the health service

:00:43. > :00:44.required serious improvement. Additional pressure, staff shortages

:00:45. > :00:50.and a lack of time to treat elderly patients property does not properly

:00:51. > :00:54.all taking their toll. I have spent time with nurses feeling quite

:00:55. > :00:57.demoralising because they have been left knowing that they have not

:00:58. > :01:01.responded quickly enough to somebody, have not been able to give

:01:02. > :01:04.the right care or attention to a family, around issues that matter to

:01:05. > :01:07.them. Overall, nurses tend to leave quite demoralising when they spend

:01:08. > :01:12.them. Overall, nurses tend to leave the day doing the best job they can

:01:13. > :01:15.but under pressure. At the start of their annual Congress, the Royal

:01:16. > :01:19.College of Nursing said Scotland cannot risk cutting the numbers of

:01:20. > :01:22.nurses just to balance the books. The government says it has seen

:01:23. > :01:26.record levels of investment in the health service, whether that is

:01:27. > :01:28.hospitals in the community or staffing levels, but the Health

:01:29. > :01:33.Secretary acknowledges that the increase in demand means that there

:01:34. > :01:37.has to be some change in the way the service operates. That is exactly

:01:38. > :01:42.why we have brought forward the new national clinical strategy that lays

:01:43. > :01:46.out ways the services will need to change. We are investing ?27 million

:01:47. > :01:52.in growing the workforce even more, particularly in, for example, 500

:01:53. > :01:57.more advanced nurse practitioners, recognising the need for experienced

:01:58. > :02:00.staff. The National strategy for updating the NHS in Scotland is

:02:01. > :02:04.expected by 2020. But the warning from nurses at the front line, it

:02:05. > :02:06.must not come from them. Two young men have been stabbed

:02:07. > :02:08.and seriously injured in separate attacks -

:02:09. > :02:10.one in Edinburgh, Police are treating both

:02:11. > :02:12.as attempted murder. Last night's assault

:02:13. > :02:14.on a 16-year-old in Baillieston was described by officers

:02:15. > :02:16.as "brutal", and was carried out

:02:17. > :02:19.by another youth. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old was victim

:02:20. > :02:21.of the early morning attack A body's been recovered

:02:22. > :02:30.from the River Clyde in Glasgow this afternoon,

:02:31. > :02:33.close to where a missing deaf woman, Kirsty Aitcheson,

:02:34. > :02:35.was last seen a week ago. A large area near the Kingston

:02:36. > :02:38.Bridge has been cordoned off The body has not been

:02:39. > :02:44.formally identified. A bus driver's been arrested

:02:45. > :02:47.over claims he verbally abused two 20-year-old gay men in Glasgow

:02:48. > :02:50.and banned them from his bus. The incident is said to have taken

:02:51. > :02:53.place in the Pollok area The bus company, McGill's says

:02:54. > :02:59.it doesn't accept discrimination Judo star Stephanie Inglis has

:03:00. > :03:04.thanked her supporters in a Facebook message

:03:05. > :03:07.posted by a friend, and said she hopes to be

:03:08. > :03:09."up and about" soon. The 27-year-old Commonwealth Games

:03:10. > :03:11.silver medallist was badly injured in a motorbike taxi

:03:12. > :03:14.accident in Vietnam. Rail campaigners say small towns

:03:15. > :03:20.on the new Borders railway have been "regenerated and reinvigorated"

:03:21. > :03:24.by the line. It opened last year

:03:25. > :03:25.and carried almost 700,000 people in its

:03:26. > :03:29.first six months - The Edinburgh to Tweedbank line has

:03:30. > :03:35.been discussed at a conference in Newtongrange, which is

:03:36. > :03:39.one of the stops on the route. Tennis, and Andy Murray

:03:40. > :03:41.is through to tomorrow's final of the pre-Wimbledon tournament

:03:42. > :03:44.at London's Queen's Club. Murray beat the Croatian

:03:45. > :03:48.Marin Cilic in three sets, and will play Canadian

:03:49. > :03:53.Milos Raonic in the final. Rugby, and Scotland beat Japan

:03:54. > :04:09.26-13 in Toyota City to go one-up Scotland played Japan here in their

:04:10. > :04:15.home country for the first time in 27 years, they were expected to win,

:04:16. > :04:19.they are above them in the world rankings, but it was a tough win in

:04:20. > :04:23.the end. Injury concerns, Dickinson with a hamstring and various other

:04:24. > :04:26.players. It started off with an amazing try, the Japanese

:04:27. > :04:31.counterattacking, the big number eight taking it up the right wing,

:04:32. > :04:35.and eventually scoring the try. Turnovers and missed tackles were

:04:36. > :04:39.the story of this game, and maybe a rusty Scottish team, by next week

:04:40. > :04:43.they will have to do a lot better. In the end it was a try on the

:04:44. > :04:47.left-hand side, low diving position, helped by Berkeley and grey. That

:04:48. > :04:49.made the difference, but they will have to do it all again next week in

:04:50. > :04:53.Tokyo. Well, it's over to Judith now

:04:54. > :05:02.with the weather outlook Good evening. It turned out to be a

:05:03. > :05:05.lovely end of the day for most of us. Here is a picture from one of

:05:06. > :05:11.our weather Watchers, a beautiful scene from the north-west Highlands.

:05:12. > :05:13.It is dry and sunny pretty much across the country, although we will

:05:14. > :05:17.start to see cloud thickening up in the west as we head through tonight.

:05:18. > :05:21.Outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle feeding into the west coast by

:05:22. > :05:26.tomorrow morning. Mild in the West, temperatures, 8-9dC. A lovely area

:05:27. > :05:31.of high pressure responsible for today's weather. It topples away and

:05:32. > :05:34.we introduce this weather system from the Atlantic bringing wet and

:05:35. > :05:40.windy conditions during the course of Sunday. Tomorrow starts dry and

:05:41. > :05:44.bright, across eastern Scotland and the Northern Isles. Thicker cloud in

:05:45. > :05:47.the West, and cloud will increase across the country through the day.

:05:48. > :05:53.Some patchy rain and drizzle, Misty and murky conditions. That weather

:05:54. > :05:55.system affecting the whole of the UK, bringing rain to Northern

:05:56. > :05:59.Ireland tomorrow, and into north-west England, down towards

:06:00. > :06:05.northern part of Wales and into the South West corner. Cloud increasing

:06:06. > :06:13.across eastern areas, holding onto southern skies. We could see 18

:06:14. > :06:16.degrees on the course tomorrow, so a change of fortunes here. That band

:06:17. > :06:19.degrees on the course tomorrow, so a of rain will become more persistent

:06:20. > :06:23.towards the end of the afternoon, but on with a freshening

:06:24. > :06:28.south-easterly wind which will be strong in coastal areas. Heavy

:06:29. > :06:30.bursts of rain in the mix. Not quite into Shetland until the evening.

:06:31. > :06:34.Our next update is tomorrow evening at 5.35pm.
