:00:00. > :00:08.Voting is under way across the country in

:00:09. > :00:13.Donald Trump is expected in Scotland tomorrow for the official opening

:00:14. > :00:25.I am at Turnberry where security is tight and hundreds of protesters are

:00:26. > :00:28.expected tomorrow. Another day of disruption

:00:29. > :00:32.on the railways, as the RMT strikes Sheep, cows and even sunshine -

:00:33. > :00:38.how the Royal Highland Show draws in big crowds,

:00:39. > :00:45.and big money. The 97-year-old Lakota elder

:00:46. > :00:53.and the Aberdonian film director who brought a film about native

:00:54. > :01:07.Americans to the big screen. After weeks of campaigning,

:01:08. > :01:12.voting has been going on all day Almost four million

:01:13. > :01:16.Scots can take part - with the polls closing

:01:17. > :01:19.at 10pm this evening. Voters are being asked to take

:01:20. > :01:22.an historic decision - whether the UK should remain

:01:23. > :01:24.in, or leave the EU. Our political correspondent,

:01:25. > :01:37.Andrew Kerr has more. It's the fifth time we have been to

:01:38. > :01:42.the ballot box in just two years so it's a well worn path. The First

:01:43. > :01:51.Minister Nicola Sturgeon cast her vote in Glasgow. She is wanting the

:01:52. > :01:56.UK to remain in the EU. But over in Kinghorn in Fife, the leader of Ukip

:01:57. > :02:03.in Scotland David Coburn was urging a Leave wrote. This is the question

:02:04. > :02:08.voters are facing, almost 4 million Scots are eligible to take part.

:02:09. > :02:11.This is the hall in Grangemouth where Scotland's national

:02:12. > :02:18.declaration will be made. In fact it will come from this very podium.

:02:19. > :02:22.It's a very different process from Westminster general election, a

:02:23. > :02:27.Scottish parliamentary election or even the Scottish independence

:02:28. > :02:31.referendum. Voting is done at a council area level so each of the 32

:02:32. > :02:35.councils were conducted own polling today and their own count tonight.

:02:36. > :02:39.Then they get fed into me as the counting officer for Scotland, all

:02:40. > :02:44.of the local portals, and then I pass them onto the chief accounting

:02:45. > :02:50.officer who will be based in Manchester tonight. And when might

:02:51. > :02:53.we get the Scottish result and the overall UK result? Breakfast time,

:02:54. > :02:55.we are told. It will be an historic decision taken by voters in Scotland

:02:56. > :02:58.and the rest of UK. And there's a comprehensive results

:02:59. > :03:00.programme here on BBC 1, beginning just before polls close

:03:01. > :03:02.at 10pm tonight and continuing It will include regular updates

:03:03. > :03:07.from Glenn Campbell on the way You can also keep up on radio,

:03:08. > :03:12.and online, and we'll bring you the full result

:03:13. > :03:17.in tomorrow's Reporting Scotland. Hundreds of protesters

:03:18. > :03:19.are expected to gather at Donald Trump's Turnberry Golf

:03:20. > :03:22.resort tomorrow as the presidential hopeful flies in for

:03:23. > :03:26.its official relaunch. He's spent millions of pounds

:03:27. > :03:28.upgrading the Ayrshire course and hotel -

:03:29. > :03:31.but his hardline views on Muslims and Mexicans have led

:03:32. > :03:35.to widespread criticism. Our Business Correspondent, David

:03:36. > :03:52.Henderson is at Turnberry tonight. Security is very tight here ahead of

:03:53. > :03:58.that flying visit by Donald Trump, he is here to talk about this place,

:03:59. > :04:02.Trump Turnberry, after that multi-million dollar makeover. But

:04:03. > :04:07.after all he has said in the race for the White House it's his

:04:08. > :04:11.politics which are yet again coming under the spotlight. Some warn that

:04:12. > :04:15.after all he has said, regardless of how good this place is, it stands no

:04:16. > :04:24.chance of hosting a major golf tournament any time soon. He's no

:04:25. > :04:30.stranger to Scotland. And no stranger to controversy. He is proud

:04:31. > :04:36.of his Scottish heritage. He showed that when he dropped in at his mum

:04:37. > :04:40.'s old house in Lewes. But with controversial views like this...

:04:41. > :04:47.They are bringing drugs, they are bringing crime, they are rapists. He

:04:48. > :04:52.has plenty of enemies. My judgment is he's not the kind of person

:04:53. > :04:58.suitable to represent Scotland. But he knows money talks. He bought

:04:59. > :05:02.Turnberry two years ago for ?35 million. He's invested millions in a

:05:03. > :05:07.new clubhouse and resort, refurbishing over 100 hotel rooms.

:05:08. > :05:13.The chandeliers named after his daughter, at the bar there is Trump

:05:14. > :05:16.champagne. Or a dram of Trump whiskey. Local politicians feel it

:05:17. > :05:23.might be worth putting up with Donald Trump for Trump Turnberry.

:05:24. > :05:26.None of his comments in his bid to be the presidents of the negative

:05:27. > :05:30.states do I agree with. But he's made an economic investment in this

:05:31. > :05:34.area and that's important in terms of the jobs that it brings and the

:05:35. > :05:40.opportunities it brings the local people. Donald J Trump is calling

:05:41. > :05:45.for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.

:05:46. > :05:52.It's his hard-line views which cause alarm and has funded Muslim leaders

:05:53. > :05:58.here to ask him to visit. If he knew what Islam was really about, if he

:05:59. > :06:03.interacted with us a bit more he might realise that the comments he

:06:04. > :06:08.is making are very, very dangerous. So what chance does Turnberry have

:06:09. > :06:13.of hosting another big event like this classic open? The whole course

:06:14. > :06:20.has been transformed but is that enough? Turnberry, fantastic but on

:06:21. > :06:26.the negative side are his divisive comments on race, women,

:06:27. > :06:35.immigration. No golf body in the world at the moment could take an

:06:36. > :06:40.event to a Trump course. So sport and politics don't mix well, even

:06:41. > :06:43.for Donald Trump. And spending big at Turnberry might not bring him

:06:44. > :07:01.quite the return he is after. Trump Turnberry is ready to welcome

:07:02. > :07:04.golfing tourists, you might be able to hear the bagpipes behind me, in

:07:05. > :07:11.conditions like this it's not hard to see why this is rated by many

:07:12. > :07:17.golfers as one of the finest links courses anywhere in the world. But

:07:18. > :07:21.before those tourists get here, those bus-loads of protesters will

:07:22. > :07:26.have had their say. Most of them don't care about golf, instead they

:07:27. > :07:30.are here to make sure Donald Trump loses the play-off for the biggest

:07:31. > :07:35.prize in world politics, the keys to the White House.

:07:36. > :07:37.There's been further disruption to rail services at Scotrail,

:07:38. > :07:41.after members of the RMT union walked out for the second

:07:42. > :07:46.The dispute centres on the role of guards on trains.

:07:47. > :07:54.Our reporter Lisa Summers is at Haymarket station in Edinburgh

:07:55. > :08:06.At the moment around 60% of travellers who get on a train will

:08:07. > :08:10.get on a driver only operated train, they are responsible for getting

:08:11. > :08:14.passengers on and off and they will be a ticket examiner. The rest of

:08:15. > :08:18.the trains will have conductor, who are highly trained and highly

:08:19. > :08:21.skilled. The RMT say they are worried as we move towards

:08:22. > :08:26.electrification and newer rolling stock that the role of the conductor

:08:27. > :08:29.will be phased out and that's a real safety concern. ScotRail on the

:08:30. > :08:34.other hand say there are no safety issues and there is no threat to

:08:35. > :08:35.jobs. What they have done late this afternoon is put forward a

:08:36. > :08:41.proposal which would guarantee the role of a third of the conductors in

:08:42. > :08:48.Scotland as this upgrading takes place. The talks they propose will

:08:49. > :08:50.take place on Monday and they want that to see an end to the unions

:08:51. > :08:52.take place on Monday and they want planned strike action. The RMT must

:08:53. > :08:57.put aside the strike days and put aside their

:08:58. > :09:01.preconditions. As late as this afternoon I have put forward a

:09:02. > :09:03.proposal to the RMT that allows us to look for a

:09:04. > :09:07.solution for all of those conductors that will never be affected by how

:09:08. > :09:11.solution for all of those conductors electric trains operate.

:09:12. > :09:26.Bay remain to be convinced, they want more clarity on the nature of

:09:27. > :09:30.these talks. In the meantime they say strike action plan for the

:09:31. > :09:33.weekend will go ahead, but of course it's the traveller, the passenger

:09:34. > :09:38.that has to put up with this disruption and has been plenty of

:09:39. > :09:45.that today, many services. Operating at 7pm, some have been cancelled

:09:46. > :09:46.altogether. Advice is if you are planning on travelling then check

:09:47. > :09:49.before you travel. You're watching Reporting

:09:50. > :09:53.Scotland from the BBC. A blot in the centre

:09:54. > :09:55.of Edinburgh that's blighted But will its redevelopment

:09:56. > :10:05.prove any more popular? And in sport, what do Rangers

:10:06. > :10:08.supporters make of their latest signing and all their summer

:10:09. > :10:10.recruits? And look who is out of the Scotland rugby team for the second

:10:11. > :10:15.test against Japan. The 176th Royal Highland Show

:10:16. > :10:17.is underway at Ingliston Around 200,000 people

:10:18. > :10:20.are expected over Our reporter Willie Johnson

:10:21. > :10:37.is there. Welcome to this annual showcase of

:10:38. > :10:40.all that is the best about Scottish farming.

:10:41. > :10:49.Farming is a ?3 billion industry in Scotland supporting 67,000 jobs

:10:50. > :10:52.directly and about 350,000 more in the supply chain. It's also an

:10:53. > :10:54.industry under serious financial and that's the

:10:55. > :10:59.backdrop against which this show is taking place.

:11:00. > :11:09.Sunshine start to the show, just the ticket after unrelenting economic

:11:10. > :11:13.gloom. The daily crisis is well documented, but beef, lamb, pork and

:11:14. > :11:18.cereal prices are all down as well. Then there is the commuter shambles

:11:19. > :11:21.which delayed the subsidy checks on which most businesses depend. Some

:11:22. > :11:29.very, very challenging circumstances. Costs

:11:30. > :11:35.have continued to rise. In addition to that we have had enormous

:11:36. > :11:39.challenges in relation to farm support payments. It's survival of

:11:40. > :11:40.the fittest and those able and prepare to

:11:41. > :11:47.invest in an uncertain future. Farms in Scotland are reducing in number

:11:48. > :11:52.but getting bigger in size and so to the kind of kit required to work the

:11:53. > :11:58.land efficiently. Like this giant combine. Yours for a mere ?320,000.

:11:59. > :12:04.The Highland is a place to do business but it's also a place to

:12:05. > :12:05.set worries aside from a few days. A bit of socialising, takes them away

:12:06. > :12:11.from the troubles at home. And they meet other people and they

:12:12. > :12:15.learn in that actually they are not the only ones with problems. Other

:12:16. > :12:21.people have problems as well and that helps. Both distractions and

:12:22. > :12:22.attractions aplenty for farmers and that helps. Both distractions and

:12:23. > :12:40.nonfarmers alike. Spent to days here every year. It is

:12:41. > :12:45.an annual social event, meeting people from young farmers days. New

:12:46. > :12:52.innovations. It's the Clydesdale horses, that's the best, for me. I

:12:53. > :12:59.like the food hall! And we like to go around the country games as well.

:13:00. > :13:04.It's a great day out, for the kids, the weather, when it's good it's

:13:05. > :13:07.good. The Highland, different faces for different folks.

:13:08. > :13:14.About 60% of people who come here are not from the farming community

:13:15. > :13:17.and tens of thousands are from about 300 Scottish girls who come for

:13:18. > :13:22.visits to learn how food gets from the farm gate to the plate. The show

:13:23. > :13:23.is about education and as you have heard it's about much more than

:13:24. > :13:28.that. It is on until Sunday. A 51-year-old man has been

:13:29. > :13:30.charged with the murder He's expected to appear

:13:31. > :13:34.at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court tomorrow. He was discovered in Tweed Avenue

:13:35. > :13:47.on the evening of 28th May. Now a look at other stories

:13:48. > :13:56.from across the country. NHS Dumfries Galloway has

:13:57. > :14:00.apologised after eight missed early signs of blood poisoning in women

:14:01. > :14:04.who collapsed and died a day after being seen in hospital. The

:14:05. > :14:10.ombudsman found the hospital had since made procedural changes and

:14:11. > :14:13.given training in the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis. The latest

:14:14. > :14:17.estimate of the cost of repairing the damage caused by severe winter

:14:18. > :14:26.weather in the Borders has been put at more than three and a half

:14:27. > :14:29.million pounds. Scottish water is urging the residents of South Uist

:14:30. > :14:36.to use their water wisely amid fears of a drought on the island. Just 72

:14:37. > :14:42.millimetres of rain has fallen since April, Scottish water is to install

:14:43. > :14:46.and temporary overland pipe to take additional water supplies. The

:14:47. > :14:49.owners of a Highland zoo ordered to close over serious failings in how

:14:50. > :14:52.they have been looking after their animals say they will try to stay

:14:53. > :14:57.open. The local authority 's licensing committee approved the

:14:58. > :15:00.closure order for the Highland wildlife park following complaints

:15:01. > :15:07.by the public and inspections by vets. A rodent 200 Norwegian sailors

:15:08. > :15:11.competing in the 30th Bergen to Shetland yacht race have dropped

:15:12. > :15:16.anchor in Lerwick harbour. Celebrations are planned over the

:15:17. > :15:20.weekend to welcome Shetlands nearest Scandinavian neighbours. And for the

:15:21. > :15:24.second year running a pair of red kites and Angus are stealing

:15:25. > :15:33.underwear to line their nests. RSPB officials who went along to ring

:15:34. > :15:36.checks found under pants and socks which the expect were snatched from

:15:37. > :15:40.the gorge popular with wild swimmers.

:15:41. > :15:43.But now the St James Centre is being demolished.

:15:44. > :15:45.The complex of buildings once included the heart

:15:46. > :15:48.of Scottish Government, as well as shops and an hotel.

:15:49. > :15:50.But its redevelopment is also proving controversial.

:15:51. > :16:45.As well as the day-to-day government 's of

:16:46. > :16:53.most of the complex has been demolished, 300 jobs have been lost.

:16:54. > :17:01.We are working with the retailers of all the stores, all the store

:17:02. > :17:05.manners managers. We look to create 3000 jobs going forward. It

:17:06. > :17:07.outweighs what we are doing today. And ?850 million redevelopment has

:17:08. > :17:14.been promised. If you look at the Edinburgh skyline

:17:15. > :17:20.it is made up of some amazing If you look at the Edinburgh skyline

:17:21. > :17:25.follies and interesting forms and shapes and we feel the development

:17:26. > :17:29.adds to that. The character which is already there. Ironically late

:17:30. > :17:34.post-modern buildings are attracting a growing number of supporters.

:17:35. > :17:39.There is a bit of an international fashion for this architecture, large

:17:40. > :17:42.concrete buildings and I think no doubt had they survived in their,

:17:43. > :17:46.the complex as a whole had survived doubt had they survived in their,

:17:47. > :17:51.in it intact form people, there would have been a lot of people

:17:52. > :17:53.saying it had some merit. As demolition work begins the arguments

:17:54. > :17:57.continue. Let's get all the day's main

:17:58. > :18:00.sport now. The Croatian international Niko

:18:01. > :18:05.Kranchar is Rangers latest recruit. He's joined on a free transfer

:18:06. > :18:13.signing a two-year deal. He says he is delighted to join it

:18:14. > :18:16.team which wants to challenge to win the premiership.

:18:17. > :18:17.The 31-year-old is their sixth signing

:18:18. > :18:19.of the summer as manager Mark Warburton continues his

:18:20. > :18:21.preparations for Rangers return to the top division

:18:22. > :18:32.This isn't a Polling Station but it's the perfect place for an exit

:18:33. > :18:36.poll on Rangers latest signing. Niko Cran Shah has 80 caps for Croatia

:18:37. > :18:42.but missed the 2014 World Cup through injury and hasn't played

:18:43. > :18:46.much since then. Some signing. Amazing player. He's not played at a

:18:47. > :18:52.high level for a while so I'm not too sure. I think it's a good deal.

:18:53. > :18:57.I think Mark Warburton knows what he's doing. Other experienced

:18:58. > :19:01.players have been drafted in. 37-year-old defender Clint Hill and

:19:02. > :19:02.dirty feeble Joy Barton, both of whom played with their newest

:19:03. > :19:11.signing at QPR. Mark Warburton wants it strike what

:19:12. > :19:14.he called the positive balance between the necessity of experience

:19:15. > :19:21.and maturity and young, hungry between the necessity of experience

:19:22. > :19:24.players. That's where young guns, like former Accrington Stanley

:19:25. > :19:28.midfielder George Windass come in, with other new signings.

:19:29. > :19:31.A lot of good reports about them, especially roster. He seems to be

:19:32. > :19:38.something special. So mouth-watering.

:19:39. > :19:42.Matching experience with use. So it should be a good year for us. In the

:19:43. > :19:47.Premiership, in the forthcoming season, do you think they can

:19:48. > :19:52.challenge? Yes, always, eye ready, as you say. They like to celebrate

:19:53. > :19:57.success at Ibrox. Supporters will hope somebody some of the new intake

:19:58. > :20:00.can become Rangers' icons in the future.

:20:01. > :20:03.Now rugby and Scotland play Japan in their second and final test

:20:04. > :20:06.They've made six changes ahead of the match, three each

:20:07. > :20:10.And after last week's win, they know the Japanese come

:20:11. > :20:14.John Beattie reports from one of Japan's iconic landmarks.

:20:15. > :20:19.The sights and sounds of Tokyo have been beguiling, but there has been

:20:20. > :20:23.something puzzling the Scots all week. Here is a question for you:

:20:24. > :20:28.How do you cope with a rugby team that makes you run further and

:20:29. > :20:33.faster than ever before. Well, that's the challenge that will be

:20:34. > :20:38.posted for the Japanese, once again this Saturday. They caught us on a

:20:39. > :20:42.penalty last week and played quickly. We had our backs turn. This

:20:43. > :20:47.weeks we will have to keep our heads out of the paddock and be aware.

:20:48. > :20:52.It'll have to be a 23-man effort. We have speed and experience on the

:20:53. > :20:55.bench. With Shaun Lamont and Greg and some young fallent like hue

:20:56. > :20:59.Jones. So it is really going to be about keeping the ball for as long

:21:00. > :21:03.as we can, when we decide it play but getting down the right end of

:21:04. > :21:12.the paddock as well. One of the six changes is the new

:21:13. > :21:17.captain and gel kicker, Glasgow's Henry Pyrg o, s It is a huge honour,

:21:18. > :21:21.getting to captain the side is massive. Luckily I have done it a

:21:22. > :21:26.few times' now. I have experience from club and country, so something

:21:27. > :21:29.I'm looking forward to. You cannot leave this shrine without following

:21:30. > :21:33.in the footsteps of the other tourists. It is a testing time for

:21:34. > :21:36.the Scots, they have to cope with the weather and a different game

:21:37. > :21:41.plan but they have the belief they can win this match on Saturday.

:21:42. > :21:44.Two Scots have been named in the first wave of athletics

:21:45. > :21:47.They are world record thrower Jo Butterfield, and the

:21:48. > :21:49.double European Champion and World Record holder Maria Lyle.

:21:50. > :21:51.The 16-year-old conbines school at Dunbar Grammar with travelling

:21:52. > :22:00.She says she is ready for her first Paralympic Games.

:22:01. > :22:11.I feel quite ready to go to Rio. I'm dealing with high competition, like

:22:12. > :22:17.dealing with all the athletes, I guess. I think I've got the

:22:18. > :22:22.experience, but also, hopefully, it isn't my last, so I can take maybe

:22:23. > :22:28.experience from Rio to other Paralympics. And Richie Ramsey got a

:22:29. > :22:32.hole in one at the BMW international in Germany. He used a 7-iron at the

:22:33. > :22:38.hole in one at the BMW international 16th hole for the perfect shot. The

:22:39. > :22:42.perfect shot. The prize, the car displayed behind him worth ?130,000.

:22:43. > :22:44.Ramsey was so excited, he tried to get into the car, but it was locked

:22:45. > :22:50.and he didn't have the keys.p and he didn't have the keys.p

:23:00. > :23:01.Hollywood has been considering a film version

:23:02. > :23:03.of the book for the best part of two decades.

:23:04. > :23:06.But it took a filmmaker from Aberdeen to bring it to the big

:23:07. > :23:12.screen - as our arts correspondent Pauline McLean reports.

:23:13. > :23:20.We don't always get to choose our parts. Based on a best-selling

:23:24. > :23:28.A challenge for the author and for the film-makers Hollywood had tried

:23:29. > :23:30.for over 20 years to get this made and kept failing. If they had made

:23:31. > :23:34.for over 20 years to get this made it, they would have gone for someone

:23:35. > :23:37.in their 70s and whatever, it wouldn't have had that feel and

:23:38. > :23:41.texture. It is a different thing, whereas I have been around it for so

:23:42. > :23:44.many years and knew exactly what we needed. Literally he was the only

:23:45. > :23:56.person who could have played that role. That person was 97-year-old

:23:57. > :24:06.Lakotas Elder. Dave Bald Eager who has lost family members.

:24:07. > :24:10.Many of the scenes were adlibbed. I have wept many times. It was when he

:24:11. > :24:13.spoke from the heart. It was the moment I was hearing words and

:24:14. > :24:18.histories I have never heard before out of his mouth. A premier at the

:24:42. > :24:44.Europeans on the reservation with their close relationships with

:24:45. > :24:50.people there and the embrace they get. The film, his third, has

:24:51. > :24:51.already been shown in the Pine Ridge reservation. Tomorrow it is his own

:24:52. > :24:56.home crowd who'll have their say. We've seen lovely

:24:57. > :25:05.weather at Ingliston, Thank you. Good evening.

:25:06. > :25:09.It was beautiful, wasn't it, for many of us across country today.

:25:10. > :25:14.Especially across the borders. Here temperatures reached 23. But widely

:25:15. > :25:17.19 to 22. There have been a few showers, mainly towards the west and

:25:18. > :25:20.north of the country. As we head through the rest of the evening,

:25:21. > :25:23.those showers will continue for a time and then they'll start to

:25:24. > :25:27.become more frequent, spreading from west to east. Across the east we'll

:25:28. > :25:29.see clearer spells and it is staying mild for all of us tonight.

:25:30. > :25:33.Temperatures widely in double figures. You can see from the map

:25:34. > :25:36.where the showers are for now. Scattered across the far north,

:25:37. > :25:39.further towards the west. Late sunshine across the east and these

:25:40. > :25:42.showers will merge into longer spells of rain as they push further,

:25:43. > :25:48.towards more central areas. We will see mist and low cloud, too, across

:25:49. > :25:51.Shetland and across the Aberdeenshire-Angus coastline.

:25:52. > :25:55.Temperatures 12 or 13 and we remain with light winds. For some morning,

:25:56. > :26:01.it'll be a fairly cloudy start with a few showers for a time. But as we

:26:02. > :26:04.head into the afternoon, we'll see some heavy downpours brewing, some

:26:05. > :26:09.thunderstorms in some place, some hail mixed in but around showers,

:26:10. > :26:13.sunshine, too, and still going to be very warm tomorrow. Temperatures

:26:14. > :26:17.widely around 19 to 20. Cooler, perhaps, under the showers. We will

:26:18. > :26:20.be well-scattered for a time. When we catch one, they will be

:26:21. > :26:24.slow-moving with light winds. Across the central belt, too, we will see a

:26:25. > :26:25.few showers here. Perhaps drier for a time across more south-eastern

:26:26. > :26:29.few showers here. Perhaps drier for parts fted country. The best of any

:26:30. > :26:31.brightness and once again, temperatures 19 or 20 at best. So,

:26:32. > :26:35.brightness and once again, today was a beautiful day for the

:26:36. > :26:40.royal Highland show. For day 2, tomorrow, the risk of showers and

:26:41. > :26:46.one or two of them may be thundery. Again for Saturday the risk of one

:26:47. > :26:52.or two showers. The showers for Sunday not as heavy and frequent.

:26:53. > :26:55.For all of us on Saturday, it is a mixture ofshine and scattered

:26:56. > :27:00.showers once again but showers not as heavy. They will be torrential in

:27:01. > :27:04.a few spots for tomorrow but for Saturday, sunny spells in between

:27:05. > :27:06.and temperatures, widely, around the mid-to high teens. That's your

:27:07. > :27:13.forecast. Thank you very much.
