:00:36. > :00:39.Wilde roller-coaster at the M's theme park in Motherwell this

:00:40. > :00:43.afternoon. Smiles and fun turning into fierce and screams as the

:00:44. > :00:51.carriage crash to the ground. This family was on a day out, a special

:00:52. > :00:54.treat but as one son chewed for the roller-coaster his mother herald a

:00:55. > :00:59.strange noise. I turned around and you saw it, not in slow motion, but

:01:00. > :01:02.speeded up, he had plunged to the ground, you could hear the

:01:03. > :01:07.screaming. Luckily for them the queue was so long that Samuel was

:01:08. > :01:13.beating and he said he got a cute view of what had happened. I turned

:01:14. > :01:17.round the corner to go back and it was heavily shaking and everyone was

:01:18. > :01:23.screaming and it fell off of the lines. It crashed and you heard a

:01:24. > :01:28.Big Bang. Nearby another teenager could not believe what she was

:01:29. > :01:33.saying. Once it landed all I could see was people upside down. Everyone

:01:34. > :01:37.was running in to try and help. Everybody was calling on people and

:01:38. > :01:41.making sure that they were OK. Emergency services arrived on the

:01:42. > :01:45.scene shortly afterwards with eight children and two adults taken to

:01:46. > :01:49.hospital. Three children remain any serious condition in hospital last

:01:50. > :01:56.night. Five gondolas connected on the Tsunami ride detached from the

:01:57. > :02:01.real structure and then struck the ground. It was quite clearly

:02:02. > :02:09.distressing. Eight of the injured are children. The gondola -- NSS

:02:10. > :02:13.have been seriously damaged, you can see the wreckage. Earlier today this

:02:14. > :02:20.place was crowded, packed with families enjoying a fun day out,

:02:21. > :02:23.some of whom, the children would have just been starting to enjoy

:02:24. > :02:28.their holidays. But tonight this is at the centre of the health and

:02:29. > :02:33.safety inquiry and the police inquiry.

:02:34. > :02:36.The First Minister has said she would consider asking Holyrood

:02:37. > :02:37.to refuse permission for Westminster legislation, which could

:02:38. > :02:40.ultimately pave the way for the UK's exit from the EU.

:02:41. > :02:43.The Scottish Secretary David Mundell said the Scottish Parliament

:02:44. > :02:50.Here's our political correspondent, Andrew Kerr.

:02:51. > :02:52.There's a sense of sheer confusion at Westminster

:02:53. > :02:55.Shattered careers and politics in a spin.

:02:56. > :02:58.As debate rages over how the UK might cut links from the EU,

:02:59. > :03:01.the First Minister was clear today that she could put up hurdles

:03:02. > :03:12.She might consider asking MSPs to withhold Holyrood's consent

:03:13. > :03:15.from legislation that would pave the way for the UK's departure.

:03:16. > :03:19.If the Scottish Parliament was judging this on the basis

:03:20. > :03:22.of what is right for Scotland, then the option of saying

:03:23. > :03:26.we will not vote for something that is against the interests

:03:27. > :03:31.There has been intense debate today as to how far

:03:32. > :03:34.the Scottish Parliament could go on frustrating Brexit.

:03:35. > :03:39.Holyrood cannot block Brexit legislation.

:03:40. > :03:42.There is a principle that if Westminster were to legislate

:03:43. > :03:44.on such matters, it would need the consent of the

:03:45. > :03:47.If the Scottish Parliament refused that, Westminster

:03:48. > :03:55.The Scottish Secretary said the majority must be listened to.

:03:56. > :03:58.We must respect the result on Thursday even if

:03:59. > :04:01.I personally do not believe that the Scottish Parliament

:04:02. > :04:07.Mr Mundell also indicated there would be another

:04:08. > :04:12.independence referendum, if that is what people wanted.

:04:13. > :04:14.Polling suggests a leap in support for independence,

:04:15. > :04:17.with Ms Sturgeon warning Westminster that it would be unacceptable

:04:18. > :04:27.11 members of Labour's front bench - including their Shadow Scottish

:04:28. > :04:31.Secretary, Ian Murray - have resigned today.

:04:32. > :04:38.As he left home this morning, the UK Labour leader might have been

:04:39. > :04:40.hoping to avoid getting any more e-mails and letters

:04:41. > :04:44.from Shadow Cabinet colleagues resigning from their jobs.

:04:45. > :04:47.Labour's only MP in Scotland, the former Shadow Scottish

:04:48. > :04:51.Secretary, Ian Murray, sent Mr Corbyn a letter telling him

:04:52. > :04:53.that he did not believe that the Labour Party could rebuild

:04:54. > :05:03.He announced that live on BBC One Scotland.

:05:04. > :05:06.I said to the Labour Party and to Jeremy directly that at this

:05:07. > :05:09.moment in time I did not believe that he could be prime minister

:05:10. > :05:12.and if he thought he could be, then he is speaking to the wrong

:05:13. > :05:21.His change seems to have been to sack Hilary Benn,

:05:22. > :05:25.I think that is the wrong way to go and I think this is the final straw

:05:26. > :05:27.for many people in the Shadow Cabinet.

:05:28. > :05:29.A handful of activists rallied in support of Mr Corbyn outside

:05:30. > :05:32.Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell took to the studios,

:05:33. > :05:34.pointing to the big mandate Jeremy Corbyn had received

:05:35. > :05:38.And there was support from the party's Deputy Leader

:05:39. > :05:41.He accused Ian Murray and the others who resigned of putting

:05:42. > :05:43.self-interest before the needs of the country.

:05:44. > :05:46.All this was very different from the show of unity just months

:05:49. > :05:57.It's over to Christopher now with the weather forecast

:05:58. > :06:11.Pretty wet for many this afternoon but tonight the remote clear and it

:06:12. > :06:15.is largely dry. Tomorrow morning, largely it is a dry start and a

:06:16. > :06:19.bright start for the East of Scotland. In the West you will

:06:20. > :06:23.notice more cloud and if you shower starting to push in along a westerly

:06:24. > :06:28.breeze which will be fresh Tuson at times. It is driving in mind. The

:06:29. > :06:35.are the fewer showers you will see. Reasonably dry and brighten the

:06:36. > :06:38.course of the day in the East. For the West, those showers with the

:06:39. > :06:41.wind, blustery at times. As we head to the course of the day, little in

:06:42. > :06:44.the way of change. Yes, it is breezy with showers but some bright spells

:06:45. > :06:48.around at times too. Let us look at the bigger picture and you can see

:06:49. > :06:52.to the South of the border, it is reasonably dry across England and

:06:53. > :06:56.Wales. Some cloud and sunshine and some temperatures of the worst evil

:06:57. > :07:03.20s in the South East. For Northern Ireland and others here in Scotland,

:07:04. > :07:06.it is a fresher day and it is a showers. We saw 20 degrees today but

:07:07. > :07:10.tomorrow it is more likely 15 or 16 and in that present will feel cool

:07:11. > :07:15.at times. To end the day it is dry at times with showers in the North

:07:16. > :07:18.West. From next week, Tuesday onwards, feel unsettled, how big is

:07:19. > :07:25.being and showers with temperatures around about the mid to high teens.

:07:26. > :07:28.Next week, on Wednesday, another area of rain so quite settled from

:07:29. > :07:29.Monday right through the week. That is
