:00:12. > :00:14.from Spain's prime minister that he will oppose any attempts

:00:15. > :00:16.to hold talks with Scotland over its membership of the EU.

:00:17. > :00:19.Mariano Rajoy says that if the UK goes Scotland goes too.

:00:20. > :00:21.Nicola Sturgeon has been in Brussels meeting EU officials and politicians

:00:22. > :00:24.as she attempts to keep Scotland in the EU following last

:00:25. > :00:27.Our political correspondent Glenn Campell has been

:00:28. > :00:43.They have met before, but this time the First Minister

:00:44. > :00:47.wants the EU commission president to know she is prepared to consider

:00:48. > :00:49.all options to maintain Scotland's relationship with the EU

:00:50. > :00:59.But by the time of their meeting, the Spanish Prime Minister had

:01:00. > :01:02.sought to limit those options, he said Scotland was not

:01:03. > :01:05.have the confidence to negotiate with the EU, and that Spain

:01:06. > :01:06.opposes negotiations other than those with the UK,

:01:07. > :01:17.and that if the UK leaves, Scotland leaves, as well.

:01:18. > :01:20.Spain does not want the EU to do anything to Scotland that might

:01:21. > :01:28.encourage independence movements inside Spain.

:01:29. > :01:30.And its voice matters, because whatever Scotland's future

:01:31. > :01:32.relationship with the EU, whether as part of the UK or not,

:01:33. > :01:38.it will have to be agreed by all EU member states.

:01:39. > :01:45.The First Minister seemed relaxed about Spain's intervention.

:01:46. > :01:48.I don't think it is surprisingly hear the acting Spanish

:01:49. > :01:51.Prime Minister said that, that is the view Spain has,

:01:52. > :01:54.The second thing, we are in uncharted territory

:01:55. > :01:56.and the situation compared to the situation in 2014

:01:57. > :02:12.You would need all the other EU countries...

:02:13. > :02:15.Of course, but we are at the very early stage of the process,

:02:16. > :02:19.and we will have to work our way through this, but we are not yet

:02:20. > :02:22.a week on from the referendum, and in this early stage my priority

:02:23. > :02:30.is to make sure there is an understanding across Europe

:02:31. > :02:32.that Scotland voted differently to the rest of the UK

:02:33. > :02:35.and that there is an aspiration in Scotland to protect

:02:36. > :02:42.a relationship with the European Union.

:02:43. > :02:45.Nicola Sturgeon took that message to the president of the

:02:46. > :02:52.After this appeal it was clear the First Minister would get

:02:53. > :02:55.a sympathetic hearing in Brussels but European politicians are wary

:02:56. > :03:02.about taking sides over Scottish independence.

:03:03. > :03:05.Most of my colleagues will not want to get dragged

:03:06. > :03:08.into domestic Scottish politics, the line we will take

:03:09. > :03:10.is that this is a question, the future of Scotland

:03:11. > :03:13.in the United Kingdom, which will have to be sorted out

:03:14. > :03:18.in Edinburgh and then it will have to be dealt with with London.

:03:19. > :03:20.However, the Scottish voice needs to be heard in the next weeks

:03:21. > :03:28.and months, and my colleagues will support that.

:03:29. > :03:41.Mr McAllister clashed with the only pro Leave MP in Scotland,

:03:42. > :03:50.We respect the decision of the British people.

:03:51. > :03:59.We voted as a United Kingdom and that is that.

:04:00. > :04:02.We don't want to move back, because it is not the same situation

:04:03. > :04:05.we will be moving back into and we think in terms

:04:06. > :04:08.of fisheries we can manage our affairs far better than Europe.

:04:09. > :04:10.Support for the First Minister's approach is not universal

:04:11. > :04:12.but she insists Scotland's distinctive vote in the referendum

:04:13. > :04:19.Meanwhile the SNP is pressing the case in the Commons

:04:20. > :04:22.Our Westminister correspondent Nick Eardley was following today's

:04:23. > :04:31.developments there from Scotland's point of view.

:04:32. > :04:37.The party's leader here is urging the Prime Minister to respect the

:04:38. > :04:41.result in Scotland and fight for Scotland's continued place in the

:04:42. > :04:47.EU. The Prime Minister said he was happy for Nicola Sturgeon to be in

:04:48. > :04:53.Brussels having those discussions and he would point out himself that

:04:54. > :04:57.Scotland voted differently from the UK as a whole, but he thinks

:04:58. > :05:02.Scotland's interests going forward would be better served as part of a

:05:03. > :05:03.UK wide negotiation that gets the best deal and Best access to the

:05:27. > :05:28.in charge of the crematorium whose graphic words to the inquiry have

:05:29. > :05:37.caused such offence. Things like turning ovens off

:05:38. > :05:40.at night, leaving the baby to smoke, do you believe those

:05:41. > :05:42.are acceptable comments? The damning report says babies

:05:43. > :05:53.were cremated with unrelated adults and it says staff were given no

:05:54. > :05:56.written guidance on how to handle remains until last year,

:05:57. > :05:57.despite three previous Parents say the authority did

:05:58. > :06:09.nothing to offer support. So has this chief executive shown

:06:10. > :06:11.the right leadership? It was appropriate to allow

:06:12. > :06:13.the investigation to conclude, to understand the full extent

:06:14. > :06:21.of the issues in the crematorium. Other councils offering a supporting

:06:22. > :06:27.hand, but not for the leader? I launched the helpline which had

:06:35. > :06:39.the report is published I have given a commitment that

:06:40. > :06:42.I will make those families now We have got to address the practices

:06:43. > :06:50.which went on historically. There is mention that the manager

:06:51. > :06:55.big crematorium has been There was misleading information

:07:25. > :07:26.in Abercromby Street around half past midnight and died

:07:27. > :07:29.later in hospital. Police, who have launched a murder

:07:30. > :07:33.enquiry, believe the same man may have attacked two women earlier

:07:34. > :07:51.outside Central Station This is a dangerous man. He attacked

:07:52. > :07:55.two women alone in the city centre and ultimately came here and carried

:08:39. > :08:41.and that she had travelled from London and was

:08:42. > :08:43.going back that day. Detectives want to speak to anyone

:08:44. > :09:03.who remembers seeing her in this Did she stay in a guest host locally

:09:53. > :09:55.Well, it's been a horrible day weather-wise at

:09:56. > :10:00.Hardly any play except under the Centre Court roof.

:10:01. > :10:02.That meant a soggy practice session for Andy Murray as he prepared

:10:03. > :10:09.You could argue the man he's playing turned Murray into

:10:10. > :10:15.It was this man in the 2008 Olympics which made a 21-year-old Andy Murray

:11:28. > :11:33.Good evening. For many of us it has been a dry and evening than today

:11:34. > :11:39.and many of the caught some late evening sunshine. There are still a

:11:40. > :11:42.few heavy showers around but as we head through the night they will

:11:43. > :11:47.tend to ease becoming confined to western coastal areas. Across the

:11:48. > :11:52.East, clear spells and the temperature of around nine Celsius.

:11:53. > :11:57.The West to see some showers and some could be quite heavy and if

:12:01. > :12:05.south-west and south-east there may be one or two showers around,

:12:06. > :12:11.showers across western parts and the Northwest during the morning, and

:12:12. > :12:17.dry across Aberdeenshire and Orkney and maybe some showers across

:12:18. > :12:22.Shetland. As we head through the day the showers become more widespread

:12:23. > :12:24.across the country and across Scotland and Northern Ireland and

:12:25. > :12:29.also parts of Wales and Northern Ireland. Along the spine of the UK

:12:35. > :12:37.Aberdeen up to around 18 in the sunshine and the south-east of

:12:38. > :12:43.England hangs on at around 20 Celsius. Tomorrow evening, more

:12:44. > :12:46.persistent rain pushes into the south-west of Scotland than spreads

:12:47. > :12:51.further east overnight but by the time we'd each Friday morning we are

:12:52. > :12:54.expecting just some showers to start with dry eye whether further to the

:12:55. > :12:59.east but these showers once again become more widespread on Friday and

:13:00. > :13:05.the showers on Friday are likely to be quite heavy with the risk of some

:13:06. > :13:08.thunder rant he'll and fairly slow so if you catch one it is likely to

:13:09. > :13:13.be with you for some time, and we will keep you updated but the Met

:13:14. > :13:21.office is considering a warning for Friday. The temperature in the high

:13:22. > :13:21.teens at best but fresher around western coastal areas, keep

:13:22. > :13:23.teens at best but fresher around up-to-date online.

:13:24. > :13:27.Our next update is during Breakfast at 6:25 tomorrow morning.

:13:28. > :13:30.But, from everyone on the late team here in Glasgow

:13:31. > :13:31.and around the country - good night.
