:00:00. > :00:08.Now on BBC1, it's time for the news where you are.

:00:09. > :00:11.A second referendum on Scottish independence COULD be held

:00:12. > :00:17.First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says that's possible if the UK Government

:00:18. > :00:20.triggers Article 50 to leave the EU this year, without

:00:21. > :00:23.Scotland's position being adequately safeguarded.

:00:24. > :00:35.Three weeks on from Brexit, two days on from meeting the new Prime

:00:36. > :00:40.Minister, still a long way from clarity. The First Minister saying

:00:41. > :00:43.today, we are in unchartered territory. Theresa May wants

:00:44. > :00:49.agreement to be reached by all parts of the UK before the formal process

:00:50. > :00:54.to leave the EU begins and promise Scotland a strong voice. What

:00:55. > :00:58.happens if Westminster triggers Article 50 later this year, without

:00:59. > :01:03.fully reflecting Scotland's desire to retain strong, European links?

:01:04. > :01:07.Might the First Minister seek another independence referendum

:01:08. > :01:12.early in 2017? That is why I am also in parallel to these discussions

:01:13. > :01:15.making sure the Scottish Parliament is making preparations to have

:01:16. > :01:19.another independence referendum... Would you be happy to have a

:01:20. > :01:23.referendum on independence in the first half of next year? I'll have

:01:24. > :01:27.an independence referendum if I come to a conclusion that I think that is

:01:28. > :01:32.in the interests of Scotland. I don't think there is a majority in

:01:33. > :01:36.Scotland at the moment. We have to concentrate on getting the terms

:01:37. > :01:41.which we will negotiate leaving right. That is the immediate thing

:01:42. > :01:46.we all have to do. Nicola Sturgeon said at this stage, all options were

:01:47. > :01:50.open. Including the possibility of Scotland staying in the EU whilst

:01:51. > :01:54.still part of the UK. Although the UK Cabinet Minister for Brexit

:01:55. > :02:01.appeared to rule that out. I don't think that works. One of our really

:02:02. > :02:06.challenging issues to deal with will be the internal border we have with

:02:07. > :02:11.southern Ireland. We won't go about creating other internal borders

:02:12. > :02:13.inside the United Kingdom. Two governments in unchartered water,

:02:14. > :02:15.stormy water. A baby girl is in hospital

:02:16. > :02:17.in Glasgow after suffering Police were called after

:02:18. > :02:21.the nine-month-old was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children

:02:22. > :02:25.from an address in Arnprior Road Police Scotland say the girl remains

:02:26. > :02:31.in a serious but stable condition and an investigation is ongoing

:02:32. > :02:35.to establish the circumstances Henrik Stenson has won golf's

:02:36. > :02:41.Open Championship at Royal Troon. He came out on top in a fascinating

:02:42. > :02:45.duel with former champion Phil Mickleson to finish on 20-under

:02:46. > :02:58.par to win by three shots. Take a look at that scoreboard

:02:59. > :03:03.because that is what they will speak about in years to come. The day that

:03:04. > :03:08.Henrik Stenson created history to win the Open Championship here at

:03:09. > :03:13.Royal Troon. He equalled the course record with a 63, his four rounds

:03:14. > :03:19.here over the week has set a new low score for an Open Championship and

:03:20. > :03:24.his three-shot victory at 20-under par was quite remarkable. He and

:03:25. > :03:29.Phil Mickelson, like two prize fighters, slugged it out over the

:03:30. > :03:33.final round here, but it was at the 15th when Stenson drained a monster

:03:34. > :03:39.putt to pull away from Mickelson and his birdie at the last added a bit

:03:40. > :03:45.of class to his first Claret Jug. They still speak about the duel in

:03:46. > :03:50.the sun, the battle between Nicklaus and Watson in 1977. They will now be

:03:51. > :03:55.speaking about something else in the future. It will be the duel at Royal

:03:56. > :03:58.Troon in 2016, the year Henrik Stenson became Open Champion.

:03:59. > :04:00.It's over to Judith now with the weather forecast

:04:01. > :04:12.These weather fronts bringing outbreaks of rain at time. Big

:04:13. > :04:17.changes afoot as high pressure builds in across the UK. Drawing up

:04:18. > :04:22.very warm air and in fact some hot weather to come. Tomorrow starts off

:04:23. > :04:27.dull, with outbreaks of patchy rain. More persistent in the west, fairly

:04:28. > :04:33.misty and murky towards western coastal areas. That rain extending

:04:34. > :04:35.into Orkney. Then that gradual improvement with

:04:36. > :04:40.brighter skies developing through the course of the day, the rain

:04:41. > :04:42.becoming confined to the north-west. With those brighter skies,

:04:43. > :04:46.becoming confined to the north-west. temperatures will climb. Reaching 21

:04:47. > :04:49.or 22 Celsius. The odd shower perhaps for the south-east. Maybe a

:04:50. > :04:52.misty start on Tuesday. Then those temperatures start to climb.

:04:53. > :04:56.Our next update is at 6.25 tomorrow morning.

:04:57. > :04:57.Until then, from everyone on the weekend team, enjoy what's

:04:58. > :05:19.Hello. Hot weather on the way. Not just by day. Overnight is warming up

:05:20. > :05:21.as well. Becoming more difficult for sleeping. There is rain in
