:00:08. > :00:11.Storm Conor has brought gale-force winds, rain and some snow

:00:12. > :00:15.There have also been gales in Grampian

:00:16. > :00:28.Following a relatively mild Christmas Day temperature-wise,

:00:29. > :00:33.Storm Conor is now making itself known.

:00:34. > :00:44.There was a lull after storm Barbara. Heavy rain, storm force

:00:45. > :00:50.winds up to mph and snow caused travel challenges. It was a case of

:00:51. > :00:55.steady and slow through snow on the waltz nine -- A9 in the Highlands

:00:56. > :01:00.and Aberdeenshire. Drivers further south contended with gales and

:01:01. > :01:06.surface water. High winds meant restrictions on all major bridges.

:01:07. > :01:09.Some West Coast ferry services fell victim to cancellations and delays

:01:10. > :01:17.and this evening's ferries between Aberdeen and Shetland will now leave

:01:18. > :01:21.later than scheduled. Scotland's transport Minister chaired a meeting

:01:22. > :01:23.of the Scottish Government resilience team, receiving updates

:01:24. > :01:29.from the Met Office, transport Scotland and the police as the storm

:01:30. > :01:34.passed through. The weather wasn't putting off these shoppers in

:01:35. > :01:37.Glasgow this morning, though, people chasing Boxing Day bargains

:01:38. > :01:40.undeterred. Warm and calmer weather is for tomorrow.

:01:41. > :01:42.Police in Glasgow have launched a murder inquiry after a violent

:01:43. > :01:47.A 43-year-old man was found seriously injured in the Saracen

:01:48. > :01:49.area to the north-east of the city in the early hours

:01:50. > :01:57.A 50-year-old man who was also injured was taken to hospital where

:01:58. > :02:04.The Co-op says it's creating around 250 jobs

:02:05. > :02:08.The company's planning to open 20 new stores,

:02:09. > :02:10.with Edinburgh, Gretna and Alyth among the places where

:02:11. > :02:16.The new jobs will take the total number of people employed

:02:17. > :02:21.by Co-op across the country to almost 6,000.

:02:22. > :02:24.To Rugby now and Glasgow beat Edinburgh by 25-12 in their Pro12

:02:25. > :02:29.Glasgow touched down twice in the first half

:02:30. > :02:33.with Junior Bulumakau scoring in just the first minute.

:02:34. > :02:37.Edinburgh went in front through the boot of Duncan Weir.

:02:38. > :02:40.But Glasgow re-took their lead and stretched it further with this

:02:41. > :02:49.Now, despite today's wild weather, some hardy Scots have been taking

:02:50. > :02:55.And in Orkney, the famous Ba Game took place a day late because,

:02:56. > :02:58.this year, Christmas Day fell on a Sunday.

:02:59. > :03:16.The ancient Ba Game game in Orkney. Starting at Kirkwall, in the scrum

:03:17. > :03:22.that follows, it can be hard to tell opposing sides. A quick victory is a

:03:23. > :03:27.major celebration. The game was delayed for a day this year,

:03:28. > :03:33.Christmas being on a Sunday. I would prefer it to be on the day, on

:03:34. > :03:37.Christmas Day. In our family, Boxing Day has been Christmas Day for a

:03:38. > :03:39.long time, so that the Ba Game is out of the way and everybody is

:03:40. > :03:53.relaxed. Thousands of pounds were raised for

:03:54. > :03:59.charity at Aberdeen's nippy defers event. Freezing cold but feeling

:04:00. > :04:07.great. Phenomenal, freezing, but worth it. It's not too bad once you

:04:08. > :04:18.are in. Absolutely brilliant. Awesome. I did this year! -- my mum

:04:19. > :04:26.did it this year. In Fife, this Boxing Day handicap race has been

:04:27. > :04:30.held for years. Something to work off the Christmas pudding and all of

:04:31. > :04:34.it, so you get little kids coming who have never run before, who

:04:35. > :04:41.usually win, by the way, and then serious athletes, who are doing

:04:42. > :04:47.quite serious times. Undaunted by the storms, these Shetlanders took

:04:48. > :04:52.the plunge on Christmas Day itself. Many people had been determined to

:04:53. > :04:56.get out and active, no matter the weather, but if you missed out

:04:57. > :04:59.today, the organisers of other activities say they will be doing

:05:00. > :05:00.seemingly -- they will be doing similar around the country on New

:05:01. > :05:02.Year's Day. Time now for the latest weather

:05:03. > :05:13.forecast with Kirsteen. It has been a very windy day across

:05:14. > :05:17.most of the country, as Storm Conor has been making its presence felt.

:05:18. > :05:23.Thank you to our weather watchers in the Orkney and Shetland Islands or

:05:24. > :05:27.sending us these very stormy scenes pictures. Shetland has been the

:05:28. > :05:35.windiest place in the UK today, with a top gust of 94 mph. As you can

:05:36. > :05:41.see, it's been quite windy across the board. Not just windy, we have

:05:42. > :05:44.had a number of wintry showers, plenty of snowfall in Aviemore

:05:45. > :05:50.today, six centimetres. Going through this evening, it really

:05:51. > :05:54.begins to settle down. Ice will be a hazard on untreated roads and

:05:55. > :05:58.services for a time, especially in the central highlands. Generally

:05:59. > :06:02.tonight, it becomes dry. Just the few showers in the far north-west

:06:03. > :06:06.and longer spells of rain over northern isles. By the end of the

:06:07. > :06:11.night, temperatures recovering once again after a chilly evening, three

:06:12. > :06:15.to five Celsius. Tomorrow and for the next couple of days, we have

:06:16. > :06:20.this area of high pressure which will really settle the weather down,

:06:21. > :06:25.compared with of late. We start tomorrow on a mainly dry note. There

:06:26. > :06:29.will be a few showers continuing in the north-west and the northern

:06:30. > :06:33.isles, and the wind picking up here as we go through the day. Elsewhere,

:06:34. > :06:38.it's looking dry, with plenty of brightness and sunshine and not as

:06:39. > :06:43.raw a field tomorrow as we have had today, with less in the way of wind.

:06:44. > :06:48.Temperature wise, up a notch to around seven to nine Celsius. For

:06:49. > :06:51.the rest of the UK, we are also under the influence of high

:06:52. > :06:56.pressure. Dry conditions across the board, with brightness and sunshine

:06:57. > :07:01.and very little in terms of wins. Temperatures around six or seven. On

:07:02. > :07:08.home turf tomorrow evening, it stays dry with perhaps a touch of frost in

:07:09. > :07:13.sheltered rural parts. A breeze across the north-west coast and

:07:14. > :07:15.perhaps one or two showers. On Wednesday, a similar story, high

:07:16. > :07:21.pressure remaining in charge and the best sunshine in eastern areas. More

:07:22. > :07:25.in the way of cloud in the west, with a few showers, and breezy for

:07:26. > :07:27.the north-west, and fairly mild for the time of year.

:07:28. > :07:30.Our next bulletin is at 12:40pm tomorrow.

:07:31. > :07:32.From everyone on Reporting Scotland, enjoy the rest of your Boxing Day.
