:00:00. > :00:08.Here on BBC One, it's time for the news where you are.

:00:09. > :00:12.Nurse Pauline Cafferkey is facing charges that she concealed the fact

:00:13. > :00:15.that she had a high temperature when she returned to the UK

:00:16. > :00:17.from working with Ebola patients in Sierra Leone.

:00:18. > :00:19.Our Social Affairs Correspondent, Reevel Alderson has been

:00:20. > :00:31.The background to this is that Pauline Cafferkey, in nurse from

:00:32. > :00:35.Rutherglen in south Lanarkshire was working in Sierra Leone treating

:00:36. > :00:42.patients of the Ebola virus outbreak. She returned to the UK in

:00:43. > :00:46.September 2014 and soon afterwards suffered symptoms of a bowler. She

:00:47. > :00:51.was treated and specialist isolation conditions in London. She

:00:52. > :00:56.subsequently had a relapse of the able condition but is well at the

:00:57. > :01:00.moment. In March 2015 she appeared before the nursing and midwifery

:01:01. > :01:03.Council which was considering whether she could continue to

:01:04. > :01:08.practice as a nurse while they were considering her case. That case

:01:09. > :01:12.centred on suggestions that when she returned to the UK she had obscured

:01:13. > :01:16.from public-health officials at Heathrow Airport the fact she had

:01:17. > :01:19.raised temperature, one of the symptoms of Ebola, and she had taken

:01:20. > :01:25.paracetamol to bring her temperature down. The nursing and midwifery

:01:26. > :01:29.Council put details today of the charges against Pauline Cafferkey

:01:30. > :01:33.onto its website. They apologise for doing so because they admit they

:01:34. > :01:37.have received new information from Pauline Cafferkey which will be put

:01:38. > :01:41.before a hearing of a panel of the nursing and midwifery Council in

:01:42. > :01:44.London in September. Pauline Cafferkey said in a statement that

:01:45. > :01:47.she hoped after the case has been considered by the panel this matter

:01:48. > :01:50.will be put at an end. Hurdler Eilidh Doyle competes

:01:51. > :01:52.in her first Olympic final And one former Scottish athlete

:01:53. > :01:58.who competed in two Olympic Games insists she can take

:01:59. > :02:00.great confidence from Jane Lewis is at the

:02:01. > :02:15.Olympic Stadium in Rio. Thank you. The stage is definitely

:02:16. > :02:21.set behind me at the Olympic Stadium. What a massive night for

:02:22. > :02:25.Scottish hurdler Eilidh Doyle. She's the reserve first ever Olympic

:02:26. > :02:37.final, the final of the 400 metre hurdles. She goes in the race at

:02:38. > :02:41.2:15am UK time. A former Scotland and GB international athlete says

:02:42. > :02:46.she can compete in this race with plenty of confidence. She has had so

:02:47. > :02:51.much confidence that she has to be able to harness taking into this.

:02:52. > :02:54.She has beaten a lot these girls. Not necessarily got the quickest

:02:55. > :03:01.time blaming up, but she has got the chance. -- lining up. There are two

:03:02. > :03:18.other Scottish athletes in action. other Scottish athletes in action.

:03:19. > :03:27.I'm sorry, we have problems with the satellite from Rio. Reporting about

:03:28. > :03:30.the fascinating race tonight featuring Eilidh Doyle at two

:03:31. > :03:32.o'clock in the morning. Plans have been announced for what's

:03:33. > :03:35.thought to be the biggest council housing development in Scotland

:03:36. > :03:37.for decades, in Lanarkshire. Here's our local government

:03:38. > :03:44.correspondent Jamie McIvor. David and Eileen have moved

:03:45. > :03:48.into a brand-new council Eileen has been house bound

:03:49. > :03:54.since she had an accident. The house for start,

:03:55. > :03:58.they have wider doors which helps... And the bathroom is a massive size,

:03:59. > :04:04.there is no problem getting in. The 15 floor in

:04:05. > :04:11.the last tower block. Their old home was at

:04:12. > :04:15.the top of a tower block. The once in is where a tower

:04:16. > :04:19.block used to stand. The tower dominated this part

:04:20. > :04:28.of Motherwell for nearly 50 years. Tower blocks and housing schemes

:04:29. > :04:34.defined Scotland's urban landscape. The plan in North Lanarkshire

:04:35. > :04:36.is very different. The plan isn't for massive

:04:37. > :04:40.new housing estates, instead the council is talking about maybe

:04:41. > :04:43.building ten new houses in one place and 15 somewhere else,

:04:44. > :04:53.all adding to existing communities. It is important the council does not

:04:54. > :04:54.build They should be small

:04:55. > :05:06.groups of house, 15-20. Campaigner says

:05:07. > :05:07.the investment is welcome

:05:08. > :05:09.but 12,000 are still And across Scotland

:05:10. > :05:12.it is more than ten There is 150,000 people

:05:13. > :05:16.on waiting litss for a home To put that in perspective,

:05:17. > :05:19.that is like filling We know that last

:05:20. > :05:31.year there was about 35,000 people made homeless

:05:32. > :05:32.applications, in Scotland, so there is a real housing

:05:33. > :05:35.crisis in Scotland. Nationally, the Scottish Government

:05:36. > :05:36.wants 50,000 affordable homes built over the lifetime

:05:37. > :05:38.of this Parliament. 35,000 of them for rent by councils

:05:39. > :05:42.or housing association, the right to buy

:05:43. > :05:44.council houses was established recently so council houses now

:05:45. > :05:53.stay council houses. Joe knows what it is like to be

:05:54. > :05:59.in a housing waiting He stayed with friends

:06:00. > :06:02.for more than a year. Sofa to sofa with bags,

:06:03. > :06:05.my clothes in bags, just really couldn't really get on with my life

:06:06. > :06:10.during that kind of year-and-a-half. Back in Motherwell, the Irvines

:06:11. > :06:12.are enjoying their new home and while today's announcement

:06:13. > :06:13.is significant, nationally, council housing will

:06:14. > :06:18.never be as important again as it This is all about how councils

:06:19. > :06:24.and others can help solve The inquiry into the Edinburgh

:06:25. > :06:33.trams fiasco could lead to criminal prosecutions,

:06:34. > :06:34.according to the judge Lord Hardie says the inquiry has no

:06:35. > :06:39.power to determine a person's civil or criminal liability,

:06:40. > :06:41.but added that didn't mean no-one could be prosecuted as a consequence

:06:42. > :06:50.of their involvement in the project. It's over to Christopher now

:06:51. > :06:58.with the weather outlook It was a lovely end to the day as

:06:59. > :07:01.captured by one of our weather watchers in Edinburgh. Some mist and

:07:02. > :07:09.captured by one of our weather low cloud returning across some

:07:10. > :07:15.parts. Things turn wetter in the South West, and the rain marching

:07:16. > :07:18.northwards, reaching the central belt around lunchtime. Further north

:07:19. > :07:24.that will be drier for longer. Across the UK as a whole, a deep

:07:25. > :07:32.area of low pressure swinging its way in. A rather windy and wet day.

:07:33. > :07:37.Winds will be stronger in south-west coast. Come Friday evening the

:07:38. > :07:41.weather marches northwards, reaching most parts. Low pressure stays with

:07:42. > :07:45.us, breezy conditions and showers around. Some of those could be quite

:07:46. > :07:49.heavy with some thunder in the mix. The best of the dry weather towards

:07:50. > :07:51.the far north of the country and humid feel with temperatures into

:07:52. > :07:52.the high teens. Our next update is during Breakfast

:07:53. > :07:56.at 6:25am tomorrow morning. But, from everyone on the late team

:07:57. > :08:00.here in Glasgow and around
