:00:34. > :00:35.He denied lurid stories about his sex life published

:00:36. > :00:41.in the News of the World and sued the newspaper group for defamation.

:00:42. > :00:49.Likening it to a David and Goliath battle to protect his reputation.

:01:13. > :01:14.Allegations that Mr Sheridan had adulterous relationships

:01:15. > :01:19.Four years later Mr Sheridan was back in court, this time

:01:20. > :01:23.the High Court in Glasgow, where he was convicted of lying,

:01:24. > :01:25.during that defamation case, and sentenced

:01:26. > :01:29.The real reason why he has been imprisoned today, is because he has

:01:30. > :01:45.fought injustice, inequality, with every beat of his heart.

:01:46. > :01:47.Now that Mr Sheridan was a convicted perjurer News Group argued

:01:48. > :01:51.the verdict should be set aside, along with the ?200,000 he had

:01:52. > :01:55.Three Court of Session judges rejected that today,

:01:56. > :02:04.saying for example the jury in the defamation case were entitled

:02:05. > :02:09.respects but that he was not someone who drank champagne,

:02:10. > :02:11.participated in orgies and indulged in kinky sex.

:02:12. > :02:14.Tommy Sheridan the long time campaigner was firmly focussed

:02:15. > :02:16.on family matters today, with his father recovering

:02:17. > :02:38.The News of the World at the centre of case has of course been closed,

:02:39. > :02:40.the newspaper group today expressed their disappointment

:02:41. > :02:42.in the ruling and said they are considering their options.

:02:43. > :02:46.They will have to reflect on the view of the judges that

:02:47. > :02:48.a court should be slow to interfere with jurry's decision,

:02:49. > :02:50.meanwhile the Sheridans await payment of the damages awarded

:02:51. > :02:58.Efforts could be made this weekend to refloat the stricken oil rig,

:02:59. > :03:02.which ran aground on the west coast of Lewis almost a fortnight ago.

:03:03. > :03:06.Today salvage experts continued to assess the damage

:03:07. > :03:09.and carry out necessary repairs, in order to pull the rig

:04:54. > :04:56.and the medals are like rallying up, and think this inspires people
