:00:14. > :00:16.Leaving the European Union could cost the Scottish economy

:00:17. > :00:18.billions of pounds, according to analysis published

:00:19. > :00:22.But the Conservatives say the figures are a smokescreen,

:00:23. > :00:25.and the First Minister should rule out another independence vote

:00:26. > :00:36.Here's our political correspondent, Nick Eardley.

:00:37. > :00:44.What well leaving the EU mean for Scotland's economy, but businesses

:00:45. > :00:46.and shoppers like these? Today the Scottish Government published an

:00:47. > :00:51.analysis of how bad it thinks it could be. The publication

:00:52. > :00:59.illustrates that whatever the final form of Brexit, whatever Brexit mean

:01:00. > :01:03.Dellacqua means Brexit turns the argument that the UK somehow

:01:04. > :01:07.delivers financial security for Scotland no longer holds water. The

:01:08. > :01:11.figures published suggest the value of goods and services produced in

:01:12. > :01:19.Scotland could fall. But there is quite a range and how much by. By

:01:20. > :01:23.2030, the hit could be ?1.7 billion a year if we keep good trade links

:01:24. > :01:25.with the EU. But it could be as much as ?11 billion in the worst-case.

:01:26. > :01:32.The matter of tax coming in is also as ?11 billion in the worst-case.

:01:33. > :01:37.projected to fall. Between 1.7 billion and 3.7 billion. We have put

:01:38. > :01:40.out a range of different assessments and taken the Scottish impact of

:01:41. > :01:45.those assessments. I hope they are all overblown but we have to be

:01:46. > :01:49.realistic about the situation. The First Minister is clear she thinks

:01:50. > :01:50.Brexit will be bad for Scotland. But she is also pre-empting figures

:01:51. > :01:54.tomorrow on the state of our she is also pre-empting figures

:01:55. > :01:58.economy. It is expected her opponents will use them to say

:01:59. > :02:03.Scotland is better off in the UK, even outside the EU. They are going

:02:04. > :02:06.to shut the significant challenges in the Scottish economy and also the

:02:07. > :02:10.dividend we have in Scotland for being part of the UK. If she is

:02:11. > :02:15.talking today about security and stability, she can do one thing to

:02:16. > :02:20.give us that, which is take a second referendum on the table and get back

:02:21. > :02:24.to the job in hand. The First Minister says she will now operate a

:02:25. > :02:27.Brexit Bannister and repeated her belief that another independence

:02:28. > :02:28.vote is highly likely. -- Brexit Minister.

:02:29. > :02:31.A soldier from the Royal Regiment of Scotland has died

:02:32. > :02:33.after being shot last night, during a live firing exercise

:02:34. > :02:35.on the Army's training area at Otterburn in Northumberland.

:02:36. > :02:39.The soldier suffered a severe head wound and died at the scene.

:02:40. > :02:41.Our reporter Mark Denton can tell us more about the inquiry

:02:42. > :02:55.What we know is that it will be led by the local police force in

:02:56. > :02:59.Northumbria, but the Ministry of Defence will be involved as well and

:03:00. > :03:00.we understand the Ministry of Defence said the authority will be

:03:01. > :03:06.involved in that as well. They give Defence said the authority will be

:03:07. > :03:10.you some context, this is a huge military base, covering an area of

:03:11. > :03:18.60,000 acres, beautiful countryside in Northumbria but a key part of the

:03:19. > :03:24.British military's training. It started in 1911 has a military base,

:03:25. > :03:27.30,000 soldiers a year go through their training at the base, partly

:03:28. > :03:32.including live firing training and at any one time, there is 1600

:03:33. > :03:38.soldiers going through their training at this base at the moment.

:03:39. > :03:42.We have had some response from the Government will stop the Armed

:03:43. > :03:46.Forces minister has said what happened here last night is a

:03:47. > :03:51.tragedy, that deaths in training for the military are rare, but when they

:03:52. > :03:56.happen, every death is a tragedy. But we should remind ourselves that

:03:57. > :04:00.it is only just over a month since a Scottish soldier died on military

:04:01. > :04:04.exercises in the Brecon Beacons, Joshua Hall from Lockerbie was based

:04:05. > :04:08.at Catterick Garrison, the largest military base in Western Europe. No

:04:09. > :04:11.doubt more details on what happened here at Otterburn will emerge in the

:04:12. > :04:12.next few hours and days. An oil rig that ran aground

:04:13. > :04:15.on the west coast of Lewis is being towed to the other side

:04:16. > :04:17.of the island. The Transocean Winner was pulled off

:04:18. > :04:20.rocks at high tide last night, after spending two weeks stuck

:04:21. > :04:34.on the shore at Dalmore Bay. Under doses last night, the 70,000

:04:35. > :04:39.tonne Transocean Winner are being brought from Dalmore Bay do a much

:04:40. > :04:46.more sheltered anchorage on the East Side of Lewis. Two powerful tanks

:04:47. > :04:51.had been waiting in the dark until the rig floated on the high tide, of

:04:52. > :04:56.rocks that had kept it trapped or fortnight. Then the towing began.

:04:57. > :05:07.Imperceptibly at first. At last, the confirmation everyone had been

:05:08. > :05:11.waiting for. We are under way. We hoped it would come off at the same

:05:12. > :05:16.angle that it was on the beach. That happened so we are very pleased for

:05:17. > :05:21.all the hard work by lots of men and women to calculate how we should do

:05:22. > :05:26.the work, it proved to be correct. At the rig is still listing in the

:05:27. > :05:31.water. Sorting that out is taking time, slowing everything down. We

:05:32. > :05:35.spoke to the salvage master this morning and there are still some

:05:36. > :05:40.challenges around the ballast water system and we still have a list on

:05:41. > :05:44.the rig, and that is about 10 degrees at times. We have a look in

:05:45. > :05:49.this morning at pressurising the tanks, moving the ballast around and

:05:50. > :05:54.trying to reduce the amount of movement of the rig itself. Now it

:05:55. > :05:55.looks as though the rig will not be at Ankara to until the early hours

:05:56. > :06:01.looks as though the rig will not be of tomorrow morning. The main

:06:02. > :06:03.priority now is to get it safely on the anchors, then there will be a

:06:04. > :06:08.period of damage assessment with teams of other people coming in,

:06:09. > :06:13.diverse, people going into the water in that area and assessing how much

:06:14. > :06:19.damage there is, to see if we can do any temporary repairs in the area. .

:06:20. > :06:22.Answers yet on why the rig ran aground, that is the subject of an

:06:23. > :06:27.independent enquiry Islay Marine Accident Investigation Branch.

:06:28. > :06:32.Bigger-mac they have been in touch with us and have asked us to provide

:06:33. > :06:44.them with part of the dough bridle. We will do that once we get that.

:06:45. > :06:48.Anything we asked for, we will provide it. This evening,

:06:49. > :06:51.preparations continue, setting out the anchorage points for when the

:06:52. > :06:54.rig arrives. Five men have been arrested

:06:55. > :06:57.by police investigating the death of a man after a disturbance outside

:06:58. > :07:00.a football ground in Glasgow. 24-year-old Gary Weir was injured,

:07:01. > :07:04.along with three other men, near the Shettleston Juniors ground

:07:05. > :07:07.on the 7th of August. Three 20-year-olds, a 19-year-old

:07:08. > :07:10.and a 21-year-old man are due A lorry driver, who shook a newborn

:07:11. > :07:17.baby so violently it left permanent brain damage,

:07:18. > :07:19.has been jailed for 25-year-old Damien Menzies

:07:20. > :07:24.from Bathgate attacked the three-week-old at a dance show

:07:25. > :07:28.in a Livingston high school He had denied harming the child,

:07:29. > :07:33.who's unable to walk or talk, but was convicted

:07:34. > :07:36.of attempted murder. Celtic have scraped into the group

:07:37. > :07:39.stage of the Champions League Beaten 2-0 by Hapoel Be'er Sheva

:07:40. > :07:45.in Israel tonight, Brendan Rodgers' side progressed

:07:46. > :08:03.on the strength of their 5-2 win Celtic brought a 3-goal advantage to

:08:04. > :08:08.Southern Israel, but the first half brought several attempts at reducing

:08:09. > :08:15.their lead. A foul meant an early penalty for the Israelis. That

:08:16. > :08:26.threat avoided, five minutes later, Hapoel Be'er Sheva went ahead. Two

:08:27. > :08:32.minutes into the second half, a video benefited from the estate. --

:08:33. > :08:40.from this mistake. 2-0 down and the tension was obvious. But Celtic made

:08:41. > :08:43.it through to stop a weak performance on the night from the

:08:44. > :08:46.Scottish champions, but Celtic squeeze through to the Champions

:08:47. > :08:53.League group stage for the first time since 2013. The draw take space

:08:54. > :08:54.in Monaco on Thursday. -- takes place.

:08:55. > :08:55.More than 300 athletes from Britain's record-breaking

:08:56. > :08:57.Olympic team have arrived home from Rio.

:08:58. > :09:00.They were met at Heathrow by friends, family and fans

:09:01. > :09:01.after arriving on a specially-chartered plane.

:09:02. > :09:03.Our reporter Lisa Summers was there too and caught up

:09:04. > :09:15.After all the hard work, the reward. The tweets from some of the Scottish

:09:16. > :09:21.medallists speak from themselves, as the enjoyed the flight home. Shortly

:09:22. > :09:27.after ten o'clock this morning, Team GB's plane touched down at Heathrow.

:09:28. > :09:31.As they filtered through, hundreds of family, friends and fans lined

:09:32. > :09:38.the arrivals hall to greet the record-breaking Olympic team. Of the

:09:39. > :09:42.366 athletes who went to Rio, 130 have returned with medals, an

:09:43. > :09:48.amazing achievement and as they come home today, time to bask in that

:09:49. > :09:53.success. It feels amazing. Everyone has been so supported and excited.

:09:54. > :10:03.We have been inevitable bubble in Rio. Good to be back. Starting to

:10:04. > :10:07.feel a bit strange now! I'm looking forward to getting home and getting

:10:08. > :10:11.back on my bike. It was a Games when history was made. Ely Doyle played a

:10:12. > :10:17.part in Menninger bronze in the 400m medley. She was only a year old when

:10:18. > :10:22.a Scottish track and field athlete last won a medal. It was nice

:10:23. > :10:25.because afterwards, we found out that that was the metal that took us

:10:26. > :10:30.over the tally from London and I found out it was the first from a

:10:31. > :10:31.Scottish athlete for many years. All the stats came afterwards, which

:10:32. > :10:37.made it even more special. It was the stats came afterwards, which

:10:38. > :10:42.not going to be goals for Katherine Grainger. Still, five medals in five

:10:43. > :10:47.consecutive Olympics, what is not to like about that? But it had been a

:10:48. > :10:51.hard slog just to get there. At the start line be a epic final,

:10:52. > :10:56.everything is up for grabs. I raced in a way that I only know how to.

:10:57. > :11:00.You have to see what happens. Have you at another one in new?

:11:01. > :11:07.Nasser-mac I haven't said anything yet but I think it is unlikely. For

:11:08. > :11:11.now, time to enjoy the glory as they come down about two. Before long,

:11:12. > :11:12.the hard work starts again with Tokyo in mind.

:11:13. > :11:15.Well, it's over to Christopher now with the weather outlook

:11:16. > :11:26.Good evening. Largely dry, at least turning dry across most of the

:11:27. > :11:30.country tonight. Mild as well, but keeping a close eye on some heavy

:11:31. > :11:35.downpours pushing through the Borders, affecting the capital and

:11:36. > :11:39.giving a glancing blow to the East coast. Some thunder as well. But it

:11:40. > :11:44.is through the early hours. It goes by tomorrow morning, and what a

:11:45. > :11:48.difference a Day makes. Buddy up dry and fine, sunny weather to start.

:11:49. > :11:54.Temperatures at eight o'clock in the morning. Perhaps more cloud towards

:11:55. > :11:57.the Hebrides. Some light showers here. Still some quiet affecting

:11:58. > :12:02.parts of Caithness, Orkney and Shetland. Still the overnight rain

:12:03. > :12:08.for Shetland at this point in the day, but it will improve. Through

:12:09. > :12:13.the course of Wednesday, little to say, plenty of sunshine on offer and

:12:14. > :12:17.feeling pleasantly warm. Similar conditions for Northern Ireland by

:12:18. > :12:21.further South, more cloud, this front moving South. No rain to speak

:12:22. > :12:25.of, but it is still the dividing line between the hot air in the

:12:26. > :12:31.South East and something I touch fresher behind it. By mid-afternoon,

:12:32. > :12:36.around four p.m., we will see temperatures up to around 20 or 21.

:12:37. > :12:39.More cloud across the North West with some light rain showers but

:12:40. > :12:47.very pleasant. Some sunshine to end Wednesday. Looking ahead, low

:12:48. > :12:53.pressure on Thursday but they settled day, a couple of showers and

:12:54. > :12:57.workload likely compared to tomorrow, but it should not spoil

:12:58. > :13:01.things too much. Some heavy showers across parts of the North of Ingram,

:13:02. > :13:07.maybe drifting into southern Scotland. Still, temperatures of 18

:13:08. > :13:12.to 20. Friday, some heavy showers across the North West of Scotland

:13:13. > :13:16.and elsewhere, reasonably dry with a few showers down towards the Dorset

:13:17. > :13:18.coast and the Isle of Wight. In the South, 25 Celsius with the high of

:13:19. > :13:19.20. Our next update is during Breakfast

:13:20. > :13:24.at 6:25 tomorrow morning. But from everyone on the late team

:13:25. > :13:27.here in Glasgow
